Bug#613382: Disk not found on GLAN Tank
pata-modules-2.6.32-5-iop32x-di exists and includes the pata_artop driver which is needed for the GLAN Tank. I believe you have to manually select pata-modules in the list of modules to download. Can you try if that works? That fixed it, but it makes it impossible to use the netboot console feature. You MUST use a serial connection to make this work, which is at least inconvenient. The Alpha installer has had no work done on it since Lenny I suspect. I see that the file debian/installer/alpha/modules/alpha/crc-modules lists crc32. I can't find any crc32 module in the kernel. Maybe the crc-modules file should be modified to be: #include as it is on some of the other architectures. Or as you suggest we could disable building udebs on alpha for the present and leave this as a problem to fix for the future. Bug#647406: please consider removing #debian-boot reference from installation guide

I have no problem with the manual not prominently mentioning #debian-boot, but we have always welcomed users with non-obvious problems in the channel, often forwarded there from #debian. Just as we welcome users with problem reports in this mailing list. I completly disagree with Marc Haber's attempts to paint us as user-hostile and incapable of supporting users. As Christian points out, it smacks of elistism.
