I'm not sure to understand what you propose. From what I see on
http://www.plop.at/en/ploplinux/usb.html , it's just yet another USB
boot image. But does it really work more in the cases where the hybrid
boot that Debian is using doesn't work?

Installing wheezy on a laptop here. Actually on three but all are not going
to the conference. :-)

Any reason I would want to do that?

I'll try them out. Will it work with the graphics card on a thinkpad x61s do you
think?

Hi Per!

Adding debian-boot@ for BabelBox information.

Good point, thank you for the reminder.

The squeeze tarball is useless, simply clone the Git repository and
follow the instructions on the wiki:

The above works also OK on a KVM/libvirt installation: replace the three
occurrences of sda in 00del_partition, babelbox-grub and cronscript.

For wheezy, if you want to show GNOME 3 you need 3D, which means that
you should probably also install one of the firmware-* packages. The
following patch should be enough, tested on the Debian Events Box, but
not yet on a VM (and I will polish it before committing...):

I noticed that d-i used DHCP, even though the /preseed.cfg information
specified a static IP. Apparently disable_autoconfig is required now.

Comments/Problems:

I was trying to install Debian on TS-212 using instructions here:
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/qnap/ts-219/

First I tried to use installer image from testing, but the device did not boot:
both disk LEDs were constantly on, there was some disk activity, but absolutely
no
network activity. I tried several times wating 10-20 minutes each time. I also
tried
to remove disks but this did not help. After this I used stable installer image
with
testing repository. The installation was sucessfull, with small problems: had
to remove
RAID devices manually, partman did not align partition correctly.

This comment originates from an old version of console-setup. Current
versions of console-setup use man-pages instead of README-files. I
think it will be risky to try to edit this comment automatically by the
the upgrade scripts of console-setup so I am tagging this bug as
'wontfix'.
