Taking over KiBi's hat, I would say there is no chance this makes it to wheezy. And taking mine, too, with several addition to localization bits. The debconf templates need minor edits to compleltely fit with the writing style we're using elsewhere...and they add 8 stringsand we have 56 complete translations (more than we *ever* had). In my opinion, this should go into a jessie branch, in netcfg. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#696901: chroot-setup.sh: [kfreebsd-*] procfs mounted instead of linprocfs in target
Package: debian-installer-utils Version: 1.94 Severity: important Tags: d-i patch User: debian-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: kfreebsd X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-...@lists.debian.org Hi, I noticed that the wrong type of proc filesystem, procfs (meant for native FreeBSD) gets mounted in a kfreebsd-amd64 target during install. The correct proc filesystem for GNU/kFreeBSD is linprocfs. This contains among other things, /proc/cmdline (which is what chroot-setup.sh actually looks for to decide if proc needs mounting). Later, when grub-installer runs, it would have tried to mount /target/proc correctly (as linprocfs) thanks to the fix for #613430, but only if that directory is empty, which procfs will not be. As a result, the grub-common postinst complains about being unable to find /proc/mounts, with unknown consequences. (grub-mkdevicemap and grub-probe still seem to work; the GRUB install step fails currently for a different reason). A patch fixing this is attached. Thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: kfreebsd-amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: kFreeBSD 9.0-2-amd64 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash diff --git a/chroot-setup.sh b/chroot-setup.sh index a7f6495..6eb1b22 100644 --- a/chroot-setup.sh +++ b/chroot-setup.sh @@ -116,11 +116,11 @@ EOF ;; "kfreebsd") # Some packages (eg. the kernel-image package) require a mounted # /proc/. Bug#433568: add vlan support

It needs a rewrite, IMHO. I started reviewing / rewriting it, but I'm not stopping others to work on it. (More debugging output, more sane memory handling, coding style adjustments.) I'm not sure I get to it before the next rc, though. At least, if it works, it could probably also be backported to wheezy's d-i if it's too late. It's pretty self-contained. Bug#433568: add vlan support
Hi, The Linux kernel's vlan udeb is added in linux/3.2.35-1, so there is no outside thing to block us from adding vlan support to netcfg, can anyone review the patch? -- Regards, Aron Xu -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: Bug#661056: please re-open Bug#610553: installation-reports: does not cleanly deconfigure network configured with DHCP
Hi, This bug was never fixed in squeeze, as far as I can tell. Likewise, this bug is still occuring in wheezy, I used: debian-wheezy-DI-b4-amd64-CD-1.iso to make this determination. I am cc-ing debian-boot, in the hope that someone there will be motivated to take some interest in fixing this bug. Including -boot among recipients in charge of this section and those announcements then. Not sure how relevant it is to follow-up on an already closed bug report, but please note that the menu thingy (netinst before ISO before sellers) is now fixed, thanks for spotting it too. It should show up online in an big bunch of hours (the whole site needs to be rebuilt since the menu is on every page). Regards David signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#696188: debian-installer: Keyboard not preseeded with auto=true

The keymap shortcut is an xkb keymap, it does not take the same values as what console-data used to take. You need to pass keymap=gb. I agree on the auto part being a separate issue that we'll have to have a look at. Samuel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#696188: debian-installer: Keyboard not preseeded with auto=true
On Fri 21 Dec 2012 at 00:25:47 +0100, Samuel Thibault wrote: Hello Samuel, > I believe these are the same bugs: preseeding xkb-keymap does not > actually preseeds keyboard-configuration. I'm working on a fix. Although it is highly probable console-setup is not behaving itself with url and file preseeding, I'm not entirely convinced it is the root cause of this bug, On Squeeze, url= works with auto=true but file= doesn't. Please see #696857. Today's mini.iso at http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/i386/ is built with console-setup-udeb 1.89 and appears to fix #693956. However, while using keymap=gb produces XKBLAYOUT="gb" in /etc/default/keyboard, the kernel command line option keymap=uk gives XKBLAYOUT="", resulting in a us keyboard layout. Also, with auto=true url=file:///mnt/./preseed.cfg priority=high and d-i keymap select de in preseed.cfg the keyboard question pops up after the network has been configured. Please note the change from file= in the submitted report to url= here. Regards, Brian. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#696857: preseed: Does not re-enable locale and keymap selection
Package: preseed Severity: normal Tags: d-i If on the kernel command line we add auto=true url=file:///mnt/./preseed.cfg priority=low the questions concerning language and keyboard reappear in the main menu after the debconf preconfiguration file is downloaded. The answers are then taken from preseed.cfg. I think this is because # Re-enable locale and kbd selection echo 0 >/var/run/auto-install.active is in the postinst for network-preseed. No such lines appear in the postinst for file-preseed, which means that with auto=true file=/mnt/preseed.cfg priority=low the language and keyboard do not reappear and preseeding cannot take place.
