Re: Other images (netboot, USB stick, etc.) for rc1
Hi, Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org wrote: But - hey, the images in the 20130211/ directory are dated 14.02.2013, which is currently identically with the ones in current/, so there's probably something wrong with that at all? http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-amd64/20130211/images/ looks all good, with only directories having a newer date. Maybe the mirroring thing triggers date updates on the files too on other mirrors? You might want to get in touch with the ftp or mirror teams to check those points. Yes, everything is fine. On http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-i386/current/images/ the images have a later date, while the help page of the installer says, that the image was build on 20130211. Bug#700834: Please allow to show/hide characters typed in password field
clone 700834 -1 severity -1 wishlist retitle -1 Please allow to show/hide characters typed in password field reassign -1 src:cdebconf thanks Hi Tim, On 18/02/13 06:19, Tim Kissane wrote: Also, when choosing the ESSID and entering the passphrase, it appeared in plain text. This would be better masked with *** by default, and an option given to display it openly. Well, an option to show/hide contents of all password fields is a reasonable feature request. It's been requested before, for accessibility reasons, when using an awkward keyboard layout for example (#698322). As long as there's a show/hide option in the dialog, it won't matter any more if the default for WLAN PSK's is to show or hide. Personally I think some people will customise their WLAN PSK, and these same people may use the same passphrase for 'everything', and would be unhappy to see it displayed on-screen. I'm opening a wishlist bug for this feature, but it's very unlikely it could be implemented in time for the release of wheezy. Thanks! wheezy installation and upgrades?
Now that we have the first release candidate for the wheezy installer, is it also the time to make another serious try at upgrading squuze to wheezy? Is the infrastructure ready for this? I've tried the upgrade before last year, with diappointing results, each time reverting to squeeze in order to have a working system. Still, my long-term testing=wheezy systems, updated continually since squeeze went stable, hae always run just fine. The big leap seems to be trouble. -- hendrik -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#700976: debian-installer: Failed to boot installed UEFI system
Package: installation-reports Version: 2.49 Severity: critical Justification: System failed to boot Dear Maintainer, When installing Wheezy using the RC1 image and UEFI the installed system failed to boot. Image is attached with the error. It looks like it failed to install it at all. When installing I used default options on everything but using Swedish as language and entering no root password, choosing sudo instead. I also deselected the desktop and print server installation options. This test was performed in VirtualBox on Wheezy configured to use Debian x64 as OS with all other settings set to default values. This the second bug from #700974 -- Package-specific info: Boot method: CD Image version: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/wheezy_di_rc1/amd64/iso-cd/debian-wheezy-DI-rc1-amd64-netinst.iso Date: 18th feb 2013 Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [O] Detect network card:[O] Configure network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Clock/timezone setup: [O] User/password setup:[O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [O] Install base system:[O] Install tasks: [O] Install boot loader:[O] Overall install:[E] attachment: uefi.png

netcfg - preseed - loopback overwrite - wheezy-di-rc1
ok, so i looked this up, i might need to log a bug, but i'm not sure, i do NOT install network manager, i have not set netcfg/target_network_config in the preseed file, and netcfg[23660]: DEBUG: No interface given; clearing /etc/network/interfaces pops up and does a 'loopback only' adapter... ^^ only recieving an ip4 dhcp address, ipv6 appears and goes away. (i do not have ipv6 on my home network) i'm using firmware-wheezy-DI-rc1-amd64-netinst.iso ### Network configuration # Disable network configuration entirely. On Sun, 2013-02-17 at 15:36 -0800, dann frazier wrote: Agreed; and I think I was unclear. I was taking for granted that we *will* do a 46squeeze2 now w/ the CVE-2013-0871 fix and bypass 46squeeze1. 46squeeze2 would provide the security-only option. The question was whether or not we should try and fix p-u by getting a -49 into -stable now w/ the CVE-2013-0871 fix, or just make sure there's a 48squeeze1 in security for after. Ah - but maybe the point you're making is that a 48squeeze1 in security would make 46squeeze2 harder to find/install - if so, I can understand that point. What's the current thinking here? Given the timescales, if we are looking at a -49 in p-u to form part of the point release, I think it needs to be uploaded (and accepted) today, and the earlier the better. Depending on which buildd picks the package up (which we can't control) both the armel and mipsel builds have history of taking around a day (30 hours for some mipsel builds) to complete and when delays due to waiting for dinstall, an available buildd, glitches in the matrix, etc. are taken in to account, we're getting rather tight. :-( Regards, Adam -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
