we should start thinking about dates for the 7.2 and 6.0.8 point
releases. Which week-ends in the coming months would work for
ftpmaster, press and cd? (We'd need one date for stable and another
  later for oldstable.)

We COULD do both at once, at least ftpmaster. Cant say for cd/press,
  though cds may be hard.

We're much longer overdue for oldstable (February) than we are for stable
(June); if we stagger them, should we consider oldstable first?

All dates are fine for press at the moment.

Bug#612516: Installation Report Debian Installer 6.0 Release Candidate 1 release

2011-02-08 Thread Joey Schulze
Package: installation-reports

Boot method: network
Image version: Debian version: 6.0 (squeeze), Installer build: 20110117-15:57
Date: Thu Jan 20 16:39:54 CET 2011

Machine: Lenovo Ideapad S10e

Comments/Problems:

The installation went fine after I removed the quiet option from the
kernel commandline. This was required to see the error message of the
kernel noting that the requested video mode (793 or something) is not
available on this system.

The kernel was waiting for user input (TAB or ENTER). Due to the
quiet option the user wasn't informed that they need to press one
of two keys.

I've installed lenny on the system a while ago, also with network
boot, and this worked fine. I don't remember having to remove the
quiet option.

Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn):

Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27ae] (rev 03)

Comments/Problems:

I have no ide what caused the problem. This machine uses a HP
SmartArray 641 array which used the CCISS driver. The module was
loaded and both logical volumes /dev/cciss/c0d0 and /dev/cciss/c1d0
have been found. However, the installer told me that no drives were
found.

After this failed, I switched to the lenny installer and it was able
to detect the disk and install Debian on them.

Unfortunately, the system went in production use already so I cannot
retry a future installer version.

Joey

Bug#510339: Small improvement in RAID support

2008-12-31 Thread Joey Schulze
Package: debian-installer
Version: lenny installer
Severity: wishlist

We've installed Debian on several disks and bound two partitions on
two disks into a RAID 1 compound. In the expert mode we were asked
how many spare disks we want to add to the compound and the input like
was initialised with 0 - as there were no disk and prepared
partitions left.

I have the feeling that this dialog box is superflous and could be
omitted, when there are no disks/partitions left over to add as spare
disks.

Regards,

Joey

Testing? What's that? If it compiles, it is good, if it boots up, it is perfect.
