These bugs are probably duplicates of #730789: the OHCI driver (ohci-pci, previously called ohci-hcd) is missing. I believe that breaks: - All devices in USB 1.x ports (except in systems with UHCI) - Low speed and full speed devices in USB 2.0 ports But these should still work: - High speed devices in USB 2.0 ports (handled by ehci-pci) - All devices in USB 3.0 ports (handled by xhci) Keyboards and mice are generally low speed or full speed, but a keyboard with a built-in hub might be high speed. -- COMPARAT Software-Entwicklungs-GmbH Prießstraße 16 23558 Lübeck Telefon: 0451/479 56 60 Geschf: Manfred Rebentisch AG Lübeck, HRB 3559 Web: http://www.comparat.de Die Cards: https://cards.athesios.de Der Cards-Film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siZaciL6mdg Businessplattform: https://www.athesios.de Lübeck: http://www.luebeck-info.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/COMPARAT -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hello Andreas, I have downloaded the netinst ISO: http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.2.0/amd64/iso-cd/debian-7.2.0-amd64-netinst.iso First I tried to copy the included files from ISO file to the windows path L:\Software\Debian7.2\. I started setup.exe from there - but the program only tell me, that it cannot found the win32-loader.ini. May be searched in another directory? The file was there. Furthermore I found the strikingly similar bug #728936 [1], where it was suggested, that this is a problem only on PowerPCs, but you had this problem with an i5 processor. Thus it would be helpful if you could test, whether your keyboard works with current installers, or if the problem still persists. To test this, you don't have to actually install anything on your computer, just burn the installer (or copy it to an USB stick) and check, whether the keyboard works in the 'Select language' screen. Hello Geert, Am Mittwoch 02 Januar 2008 13:58 schrieben Sie: snip/ snip more/ From my point of view it is also (very (very)) hard _WHAT TO THINK_ about USB. I suggest you reply this E-mail with the relevant lines from your report about the thing that runs wrong, plus some elaboration about the issue. I need some days, within I do the following: I take a new disk and run the installations with install two times: first with connected USB hardware and second without the USB hardware. On boot prompt I try to set the DEBUG parameter. After that I can answer again to this mail. Is it ok to put a long report as attachement? That may cost some time, but hey, see it as an investment for the next time _you_ will do an install on the same hardware and also for people with a simular hardware set up. Thats ok. If you don't know better, just select that. I think, it is a good idea to put a simple comment to this page. 3. The detection of network card shows only the hardware floppy 4. The detection of hard disks shows only one entry named floppy too. What's the point? As you were able to complete the installation I assume that both network and disk were supported. Again, don't use expert mode unless you need to. Why did you answer to me? I did use the expert mode, because the previous install with install was failed (does not show many installer pages, does not install most software, only minimal system). 5. Please consult the installation guide for info on how to select KDE using the standard CD images. 6. uswsusp give message, that there is no valid swap partition. But there where two valid swap partitions while installation process. One swap on sda2 from RAID and one on hda2 from first installation trial. This is a known issue. 7. There was no possibility to add the first user 8. There was no question for the root password This is just not correct. 9. During disk partitioning it was not clear, on which of the disks debian will install. It was done ok, but there was no possibility to choose the destination disk (hda or sda). This is just not correct either. Both for guided and manual partitioning the installer _always_ lets you select which disk to use. No! Please have a look to my report again and think about the USB hardware. I think, that something runs wrong, because I have a floppy via USB. But I did not understand the details. Bug#414192: d-i: kernel detect CentaurHauls VIA Samuel 2
Another note: on another machine with the same CPU it was a correct installation with installgui on install boot prompt. This time I use expert. That may be the important difference. The cat command is called with the afterwards installed 486 image. Because it was not possible to use the other kernel (permanent booting). Bye Manfred
