A template comes with the installation. You could categorize installation-reports. There was a mail on the list with same status information for the translations, from Christian Perrier IIRC. Hi I wrote a small perl script which should make reporting unsupported hardware easier. It shows you an edited output of lspci. You can then select a device and specify the kernel module if you know. It creates a bugreport for you with this information. You are given the chance to edit and/or submit it to the bts as a bug against discover-data. I was just in the mood to do something... Tell me if it's a good idea to provide something like this with d-i. It could be mentioned in the INSTALLATION-HOWTO. It would lead to more uniform bugreports containing all the necessary information. It's just a little easier to click "install with these settings" once than having to ask one question after the other. If a novice doesn't understand an item, it doesn't feel that bad to go further than if he's presented a whole "wizard-step" he can't answer. So the defaults (which should fit novice's needs) are more easily accepted without asking oneself: "$*%§! I like the "What is your X?" version for String templates more. "Please give
your X:" could make sense too.
Select and Multi-Select templates should maybe use "Please choose one:" and
"Please select:" in the short form and information helping in making the
decission in the long form.

Questions (String) need question marks, Select and Multi-Select labels
introduce tables and should therefore have colons, and notes have titles

Computers shouldn't use the term "I" (yet). If the computer wants to tell us
what he does, he should use a term like "Downloading something" instead of
"I'm downloading something". If he wants us to make a decission, he should
ask us what we want to do. So we should use "Do you want to do this?".

Error and failure messages should also be unified. Some of them contain an
error number/return code, some talk about aborting. Terms like 'exited with
return code XX' don't help the user.
I would propose that an error/failure should show an info template like:
Description: Can't download ${MODULE}!
Something went wrong while downloading ${MODULE}. This means, that this
package can't be installed and used.
You should check you CD-ROM or Network connection and...
The short description should be exactly that, a short description of the
failure, followed by a exclamation point. The long part should describe the
consequences of the failure and possible work-arounds.
This error template should be shown with a high priority, or whatever
apropriate. After that there could be another template, contain
XB-Description-de in control file

[PATCH] Missing Switzerland (German, Italian) in languagechooser
Hi I downloaded debian-installer for the first time and wanted to give it a try. Well till now I wasn't able to install with the installer, as I run into a whole lot of troubles, not stable at all it seems:-( Well, here is a try to fix at least one thing by myself. [PATCH] Missing Switzerland (German, Italian) in languagechooser
Hi I downloaded debian-installer for the first time and wanted to give it a try. Well till now I wasn't able to install with the installer, as I run into a whole lot of troubles, not stable at all it seems:-( Well, here is a try to fix at least one thing by myself. I added German and Italian for Switzerland to the languagechooser. A patch is attached.
