Actually, it should be basedebs.tar. (The stuff inside it is already
gzipped so it's not worth gzipping again).

I don't speak for anyone save myself. GPG signed mail preferred.

The daffodils are coming. Are you?

According to a message from aj, this should be fixed by now. (That is,
the basedebs.tgz on the mirrors should be a real .tgz)

If you verify it's OK, could you just send a message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]?

Thanks.

No, it's a real bug. zcat basedebs.tgz in debootstrap fails because
it's actually a tar file.

Methinks you useda buggy browser, some versions of netscape and mozilla
are known to ungzip the file when the download occurs. This is not a bug
on this debian package, i suggest you try downloading it with wget or
some other tool and then close this bug.

Thanks

Bug#132350: basedebs.tgz not gzipped

2002-02-04 Thread Mike Charlton

Package: boot-floppies
Version: 3.0.17

I hope I'm submitting this for the right package. I tried installing Woody
from floppies on Feb 2, 2002. The installer didn't like the base disks (it
couldn't recognize the first disk as a base disk). I used dd to move all
the disks over and catted them into a basedebs.tgz (first checking that this
produced the exact same result as basedebs.tgz).

Using the basedebs.tgz resulted in the installer complaining that gunzip
failed. I gzipped the file and everything worked.

 Mike
