During installation, I have to provide netcfg/domain. However, when the installation has finished and the system is booted, that domain name is not actually put in place anywhere. If I run # grep -r 'example\.org' /etc /var then the only reference I find is in /var/log/installer. At the very least, I'd expect the domain name to end up in /etc/hosts to ensure that `hostname --fqdn` works post-install. Whether to put it into /etc/hostname is another question… -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.6.0-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_NZ, LC_CTYPE=en_NZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_NZ:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled -- .''`. martin f. krafft <madduck@d.o> @martinkrafft : :' : proud Debian developer `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduck `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems
