Re: 2.2.18 + LANG_CHOOSER has bad bugs

2000-11-29 Thread Gleydson Mazioli da Silva

No way, the accentuation problem still persist. :(

I've made a check in other translations than Portuguese (in language
chooser dialog selections) and I've seen blank spaces between some words
(maybe replacing it's accentuations codes with spaces too).

Is that problem happening with me only?

I checked with Adam's build today, and it really seems OK.
I used a hex editor, that all the spaces that appear in
language choose menu are really spaces (0x20) in the .src file.
Please try the sets that Adam made.

They are really translated, for example, in sentence "Sistema de
 instalaao
Debian GNU/Linux", it's translated to "Sistema de instalaao Debian

and other messages happen that too.

Hmm.. I may be missing something, but the two sentences you
provided are really the same? Or do you mean the line breaks
are inserted?

It's a strange problem, really. I've changed the font in portuguese.src

Could you please send me (only me!) the file all.utf (utilities/all.utf) that

Already send it off-list :)

Please, add the "some accentuation codes for latin languages don't work"
in you bug list. I've checked if it was a problem with fonts in
portuguese.src, but I had no
sucess...

 bad bugs:
   - cannot find default keymap after choosing language (Bug#77455)
   - modconf won't run

 cosmetic bugs:
   - english should be first language on top
   - highlight in cfdisk doesn't show up (bterm issue)?
   - choose the language screen is ugly -- needs intro text at the top,
should look like other screens more e.g. pick install method, IMHO

Some accentuation codes of Portuguese language aren't working (the

I think other languages than Portuguese that uses the latin charsets,
and
the characters above, will have the same problem...

Well, I'm ready for suggestions to make more tests with my native
language
support and solve this problem soon as possible, I hope that language
chooser
will work before the Potato-r1 be released (Is this possible?!? :)

That's a bug. It should be working.

Thanks, I'm starting another test now...

On second thought, the reduced font may miss needed characters...

I've updated my local boot-floppies and bf-utf tree, then I try to build
the
boot-floppies. Unfortunally, any local charset looks not work.

In dbootstrap (without language chooser and bogl enabled by default) it
works fine!

Thanks
