I Am helpless to install Debian Squeeze by using official provided

I have tried The .iso images from The following direct links.

 http://caesar.acc.umu.se/debian-cd/7.1.0/i386/iso-cd/debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst.iso

 http://napoleon.acc.umu.se/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/7.1.0/i386/iso-cd/firmware-7.1.0-i386-netinst.iso

That image appears to contain the firmware for both the intel 2200BG
and 2915AG.

Installer is having The issues with my network integrated vireless
 chip, Intel vireless.

Which intel wireless chip do you have?

I believe it should be one of:

IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II (An ath5k card)
 Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter
 Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Mini-PCI Adapter

Would some body of us give me The commands, which would enable me to
install Debian Squeeze to my empty harddrive? With no need to use
 official installer?
Because live installer and official installer is suffering because
of detecting network hardware, even firmware .iso image with net
 installer can not help me.

Debian 7.x is Wheezy. Squeeze was Debian 6.x and is no longer the
current stable release.

But remastersys can not install The Debian Squeeze to The usable form.
I AM getting The error message shadow passwords can not be enabled.
So i can not login to The system, because non root and also The root
user passwords can not be accessed.

I have never heard of 'remastersys'.

 Any help is strongly welcomed.
I would like to install Debian Squeeze live CD gnome to my empty
harddisk. The .iso image can be downloaded by using this direct
 link.

 http://live.debian.net/cdimage/release/oldstable/i386/iso-hybrid/debian-live-6.0.7-i386-gnome-desktop.iso

My network carts are perfectly supported from The live Debian
system, i did not test The vireless network device, but i do not use
it at all. Broadcomm device is working for me so i can use The
Internet perfectly from The running live system.
Thank You for Yours programmers work.

I would use The kernel module to mount The squashfs image with
Debian Squeeze and i would copy it from other live distro, but this
will not allow me to login to The installed system.

I have never used the live images at all.

What error does it give you when firmware-7.1.0-i386-netinst.iso gets
to the network detection?

I did find a page discussing problems installing Debian in 2011 on a
thinkpad T43, and hanging at network detection. The problem turns out
to be the weird floppy interface on the T43. Try disabling the floppy
in the BIOS settings, and that should hopefully solve the problem.
The T43 had a port for an external floppy drive, even if you don't
actually have one, and it is usually enabled by default. And yes the
live image works fine with it enabled.

Re: debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst included installer can not detect network hardware

2013-07-10 Thread Mgr. Janusz Chmiel

Dear sir,
Thank You very much for Yours constructive help.
Yes, Linux kernel is displaying I/O error related to FD0 floppy disk
drive device.
I think, that this can make problem to kernel, i hope, that some kernel
threat is not overloaded by this constant searching for FD0, some kernel
loops are may be overloaded.

But i must give it up, i AM totally blind and i can not safely change
The BIOS settings.

I will try to ask for sighted assistance.
I Am using Gnome live project because in Debian Squeeze, ALSA sound
server is being used without Pulseaudio sound server and because i AM
blind at all, i Am using Orca screen reader with Espeak speech synthesizer.

When Pulse audio is being used, there are issues with speech responsiveness.
So thank You for finding The reasons.
If i were C language developer, i would modifi The C source code of
Debian installer, so it would stop to find all available network
devices, if one would be detected, second device would be ignored by The
installer.

So only non vireless network devices would be used by The Debian installer.
But i know, that many users are having vireless Internet connections,
and that Debian installer developers thought it well with Debian
installer users.

So thank You again for Yours help.

At least there is a good chance that it will solve the problem.

There was a suggestion of passing the kernel option 'floppy=thinkpad'
at the boot prompt, but no answer as to whether that made a difference
or not.

I Am using Gnome live project because in Debian Squeeze, ALSA sound

Pulseaudio is often a major annoyance. Yet other times it seems to
solve problems. It is really annoying.

If i were C language developer, i would modifi The C source code of
Debian installer, so it would stop to find all available network
devices, if one would be detected, second device would be ignored by
 The installer.

Well the installer wouldn't know which device you wanted to use.
Some machines have multiple wired ports and it wouldn't know which one
you plugged a cable into.

So only non vireless network devices would be used by The Debian installer.
But i know, that many users are having vireless Internet
connections, and that Debian installer developers thought it well
 with Debian installer users.

Some people want to install by wireless for some reason, and quite a
bit of work appears to have gone into supporting that in wheezy.

So thank You again for Yours help.

No problem. I hope you get the BIOS setting changed and that it fixes
the problem.

Or maybe that kernel option would fix it.

The description of that option is:

floppy=thinkpad
Tells the floppy driver that you have a Thinkpad. Thinkpads use an
inverted convention for the disk change line.

Actiually I read it again. Someone did try, and it did not work.
The only thing that worked was disabling the floppy controller in the
BIOS apparently.

debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst included installer can not detect network hardware

2013-07-08 Thread Mgr. Janusz Chmiel

Dear core developers,
I Am very happy, when i have found out, that thanks to MR Samuel
Tibault, there is possibility to have speech support while using
debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst and integrated installer.
I do not know, why, but i AM helpless to install Debian system because
The process of detecting network hardware can not be completed
successfully. The progress bar stay at the 95 percent.

I Am using IBM Thinkpad model 2668
It is very sad, because i Am sure, that Linux kernel is containing The
driver for The integrated Broadcomm Extreme Ethernet Network chip.
Do You think, that i could help The developers to track The reason, why
network hardware can not be auto detected successfully?

Because i Am visually impaired, i have used The
s
character at The Isolinux boot screen followed by pressing Enter key to
install The system with speech support.
I can send You some log information, but tell me The procedure, to help
You to find The cause of The network cart issue.
Because Espeakup and Speakup is cooperating so nicely with Linux kernel
and ALSA sound server and with Espeak synthesizer, i can use one of The
free virtual console to type The necessary commands.
Or i must use more modern computer and do not try to install Debian
Wheezi on my IBM Thinkpad model?
I would never intrude You, but i Am not able to force GTK and other
accessibility related libraries to install Debian live by using included
Debian live installer.
Debian Squeeze can not be installed because of complex C language
library call related issues, so when killing GDM3, login as root, typing
startx
Using Orca with Orca setup questions completed, Debian Squeeze GTK based
installer can not be used.
It is very interesting to use gnome-terminal with Orca, logged as root
and try to run Debian Installer in The Debian Squeeze live project.
The list of library related issues, .so files and C language rleated
information is really outstanding.

But how to debug and help C developers to fix those issues?
Thank You very much for Yours help.
With kindness regards.
Janusz Chmiel
