It's unsuitable for upstream makefiles (Debian-specific).

Ah true, I did not read the original thread properly so I thought you
were talking about debian/rules. I added that now to

http://wiki.debian.org/Debian_GNU/kFreeBSD_FAQ#Q._How_should_I_detect_kfreebsd_in_debian.2BAC8-rules.3F

but I'm afraid that packages are going to continue to test for kfreebsd
in various different ways also in the future.

Bug#631754: please check with upstream kernel

2011-12-05 Thread Timo Juhani Lindfors
Hi,

Robert Millan r...@debian.org writes:
Please could you check if upstream kernel is also affected?

I belive so based on the feedback I got from freebsd users when I asked
about the issue.

 http://incoming.debian.org/kfreebsd-downloader_9.0~rc2-1_all.deb

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I'm currently too busy to test this on
real hardware where the bug occurs...

If this is an upstream bug, filing a FreeBSD PR would be the best
 option IMHO.

Indeed, should have done that earlier.

Help with iwn4965fw.ko

2011-12-05 Thread mimo
Hi I've installed kfreebsd on a partition of my T61. It works ok so far but
when I try to start wireless I get an error about missing firmware for my Intel
4965 card:

iwn4965fw: could not load firmware image, error 2
iwn0: iwn_read_firmware: could not load firmare image iwn4965fw

iwn0: iwn_init_locked: could not read firmware, error 22

I've tried the 7.x and 8.x kernel

I'm a linux sysadmin so I have no idea what I'm doing under freebsd. Can
someone give me a pointer on how to re-compile a module or something if that's
what's needed or is there a precompiled one I can just download?

Cheers

mimo
