I spy... the release builds have been pushed to FTP mirrors today :)

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/i386/9.0-RELEASE/

Hi Robert,

can you verify that with a plain FreeBSD kernel, and/or on a FreeBSD
system? If no, we may want to upgrade zfsutils next week, as the FreeBSD
9 release is due this week and our utils snapshot isn't the most recent.

Possibly the problem will disappear then.

I did. FreeBSD 9.0-RC3 is not affected by this problem.

If no, we may want to upgrade zfsutils next week, as the FreeBSD
9 release is due this week and our utils snapshot isn't the most recent.

Seems fine to me. I don't have time to do this atm though (feel free
to, you're in Uploaders now).

Yup, sure. No promise though, but I'll try to find time.

Bug#653929: zpool status reports bogus string for RAID-Z (breaks GRUB)

2012-01-01 Thread Robert Millan
Package: zfsutils
Version: 8.3~svn226546-6
Severity: important

e.g.

$ sudo zpool status tank3
  pool: tank3
 state: ONLINE
  scan: none requested
config:

NAMESTATE READ WRITE CKSUM
tank3 DEGRADED 0 0 0
  -0DEGRADED 0 0 0
ad4s2 ONLINE 0 0 0
ad6s2 ONLINE 0 0 0
ad4s2 UNAVAIL 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

prints -0 instead of the expected raidz1-0.

This breaks grub-install / update-grub and prevents using RAID-Z as root
file system.
