Answered some of them.

And I refactored the whole page so that it now has a table of contents
showing all questions on top. Because if I loose overview over that
page, others will probably, too. :-)

2009-12-08 Thread Brian Gupta
Thanks, that's a very helpful page. It would be very cool if this page
had a link to it: http://www.debian.org/ports/kfreebsd-gnu/

A link to this page would be good too.
http://wiki.debian.org/Debian_GNU/kFreeBSD_FAQ

Speaking of the FAQ, I added a section "Unanswered questions" to the
bottom, and listed some questions that came to mind. (Would love to
see some answers). http://wiki.debian.org/Debian_GNU/kFreeBSD_FAQ

That all said, we would love to have someone involved kfreebsd to NYC
to present. If the person can get themselves here, we can take care of
food and lodging (nothing fancy, it will typical debian "guest
quarters".. i.e. - a volunteer will likely offer to take on the
speaker as a guest)

Cheers,
Brian

For me, its interest in non-linux GNU (or my interest in GNU/Linux is
mainly GNU). So plan FreeBSD is not as much exciting. Having more
options for GNU is good - the more, the merrier.

Purpose driving kfreebsd?

2009-12-07 Thread Brian Gupta
Hey guys,

I think it's awesome that you have done this, and that Debian is
supporting it as official port. I was looking for FAQs and such, do
you have any? Basically I want to learn about why as much as the
technical what driving this port.

I'd also love to see if anyone is interested in giving a techncial
presentation in New York City on kfreebsd at a user group meeting in
Q1 2010. If someone is available that would be great, otherwise, I
plan to learn about kfreebsd and potentially give the preso myself.
The target of the preso would be both Linux and BSD users. (And all
interested parties).

Basically I get the sense that most folks are like me, in that they
know it exists, they just don't really know anyone who uses it, nor do
they understand why someone would use it. (Over plain Debian or
FreeBSD).

Cheers,
Brian
