Hopefully that's enough to let someone who has the bandwidth to look
at what's causing this problem on kfreebsd.

I don't have enough knowledge to do more on this, but let me know if
you want me to make more tests.

I'm leaving this issue for someone else to try first to see what might
be going wrong.  Perhaps try:

# apt-get -o APT::Install-Recommends=true task-desktop
# apt-get -o APT::Install-Recommends=true task-xfce-desktop
in sid on linux vs. kfreebsd, to see which packages it would try to install.

Try some of the APT debug flags:
-o Debug::pkgDepCache::AutoInstall=yes
-o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=yes

Perhaps look up those tasks on http://packages.debian.org and check
installability of task-xfce-desktop in particular, maybe using the
edos-distcheck tool or reviewing https://qa.debian.org/dose/

I'll probably check on this bug before d-i Beta 3 in case it hasn't been
figured out by then.
