Dear maintainer(s),

With a recent upload of python3-defaults the autopkgtest of pastel fails
in testing when that autopkgtest is run with the binary packages of
python3-defaults from unstable. It passes when run with only packages
from testing. In tabular form:

I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report. It seems the
test tries to test for all supported Python3 versions, but fails to
ensure all those versions are actually installed during the test.

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of python3-defaults
to testing [1].

I think this is a bug in the dependency info.

It probably should depend on `libpulse0`, not `pulseaudio`

This way it will also work with pipewire for example with pulseaudio
removed. Or if the libraries are installed, but not a deamon (there are
use cases for this too).

Regards,
Witold

Dear maintainer(s),

We are in the transition of adding python3.10 to the supported Python
versions [0]. With a recent upload of python3-defaults the autopkgtest
of python-css-parser fails in testing when that autopkgtest is run with

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of python3-defaults

what's new in Python3.10, it may help to identify what needs to be updated.

The current packaging licensing (GPL-2) is incompatible with upstream
licensing (MIT). It is a hampering condition to submit patches from
Debian to upstream.

I am adopting the package and I intend to change the packaging licensing
to MIT.

I will wait 15 days to know if anyone has any objections.

Cheers,

leptonlib participates in dependency loops relevant to architecture
bootstrap. Rather than look into such a hard problem, I looked into
easily droppable dependencies. It turns out that libzzip-dev is entirely
unused and not mentioned anywhere in the source beyond debian/control.
gnuplot-nox is only required for testing and can be annotated
. Please consider applying the attached patch.

Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal

User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

Folks,

perhaps I should start with an outright confession: When doing
http-parser version 2.8.1-1+deb10u1 for a buster point release,
I messed up things horribly. Nobody noticed in time, it's in stable
now, and all I can do now is bringing things back in order.

# Problem

As described in #996939: The fix for CVE-2019-15605 changed, among
other things, the layout of "struct http_parser", by increasing the
size of the "flag" field and also its position¹ within the struct.

The latter ought not to do harm as the fields affected are marked as
private. But since that is not enforced in C, applications still might
access them.

The size change however is way worse, it caused the following elements,
especially "public" ones like "data" to change their offset.
Subsequently, applications built using the old header file will access
the wrong offset, and possibly segfault. This has been reported for the
tang package in #996460, and I have reason to assume *all* nine²
packages that use http-parser are affected.

# Solutions

After some discussion with Hilko Bengen (Cc:'ed) I can see two ways out
of this:

## Rebuild rdeps

In buster, re-build all packages that were built against http-parser.
So more or less a binNMU, but in a rather unusual area. Tightening the
install dependency to something like "libhttp-parser2.8 (>=
2.8.1-1+deb10u1~)" was nice to have.

Pros:
* If you have a process/automation for that, it should be little work
and therefore the risk of mistakes rather low.

Cons:
* Several packages are affected.
* If this has to be done manually, co-ordination with package
  maintainers is needed, yada-yada.
* The ruby-http-parser.rb will FTBFS as mentioned in #989494. My old
patch for unstable should apply. That would be my job.

## Rework the patch

Revert the ABI break by reworking the patch to restore the previous
struct layout - while maintaining the purpose of the change: Storing a
ninth status bit. Hilko Bengen did a great job implementing this, and
also reported success with several tests.

Pros:
* Only http-parser needs an upload.
* External applications (built using Debian but not shipped by Debian)
continue to work. While this is not within our scope, it provides a
  good service.

Cons:
* Requires testing on all architectures supported in buster. My job.
* Applications that access private fields still might break. Highly
unlikely to happen, and I have little mercy here.
* Applications and packages built *since* the ABI break will require
a rebuild since technically this is a second ABI break. For Debian,
  the intersection with
  https://release.debian.org/proposed-updates/oldstable.html
  seems to be empty.

## Or ...

Still I am open for other ideas - my main goal is to find a sensible
fix for this issue.

Please advise how to proceed. I would like to see this handled as soon
as possible - knowing users out there encounter problems and will do so
until the next oldstable point release is not quite a pleasant
situation.

Personally I have a slight preference for the second ("rework the
patch") way, but that's not put in stone.

Kind regards,

Christoph

PS: Related, do you check autopkgtest of reverse dependencies as part
of a stable point release procedure? If not, please consider doing
so - although this time it would not have avoided the situation: Of
the list of packages, only libgit2 has an autopkgtest in buster,
and it still passes.

Related (not so) fun fact: Out of curiosity, I backported the
autopkgtest of the tang package locally, and it failed due to the

Package: src:http-parser
Version: 2.8.1-1+deb10u1
Fixed: 2.9.4-1
Severity: important

As it became appearent in #996460, the fix for CVE-2019-15605 in Debian
introduced an ABI break, and unfortunately nobody noticed before the
stable point release on October 9th. Symptoms, at least for tang, are
segmentation faults. Data corruption might happen as well.

Workaround: Downgrade http-parser to the previous version 2.8.1-1,
or rebuild the affected packages.

Working on a resolution (worst case: Trigger a rebuild all ten packages
linked against http-parser) will be my chore as I managed to break
things in the first place.

Output of dd-list on the possibly affected packages below.

Dear Debian spdlog package maintainer,

The spdlog upstream has released v1.9.x series since July 2021 (see
https://github.com/gabime/spdlog/releases ). Please consider packaging the new
releases in Debian and test whether they work well.

Probably we should make uploads in Debian Experimental first to test
compatibility with fmtlib 8.x; this is also recommended by Debian's fmtlib
package maintainer.

Dear Maintainer,

As part of the effort to limit the number of llvm packages in the
archive, it would be great if you could upgrade to -13 (or -12).

Bookworm won't ship with llvm-toolchain-11

llvm-defaults is now pointing to -13.

Thanks,
Sylvestre

Package: searx
Version: 0.18.0+dfsg1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

It appears that Searx is adding an extra /searx/ to its own URLs.
My setup is:
- Apache hosting my domain example.org and proxying Searx to example.org/searx/
- uwsgi hosting Searx.

Accessing example.org/searx, I see logs of 404s in the UWSGI log file:

[pid: 1844588|app: 0|req: 59/139] ::1 () {50 vars in 1319 bytes} [Sun Feb 28

bytes in 8 msecs (HTTP/1.1 404) 3 headers in 120 bytes (1 switches on core 0)

Obviously this leads to a rather odd looking results page as all the extra
elements cannot be loaded.
I have found a workaround: change

base_url : "https://example.org/searx";
to
base_url : "https://example.org/";

This seems intuitively wrong to me but it works!

I think this issue began after upgrading to 0.18. I am not 100% certain here as
I have not used Searx for a while because it has been choking on Google
results. I try it every now and then to see if it's started working again.

ah yes, indeed I also always reset my searx config on every upgrade. That's
also why the package doesn't install a config itself but requires manual
intervention: searx developers broke the configuration several times in the
past already, so every major upgrade needs another manual editing of the
configuration file, sadly.

Thank you anyways for filing the bug! I am running searx 1.0.0 on my own server
right now and can confirm that google works fine there.

Thanks!

Subject: ITP: r-cran-kernelheaping -- GNU R kernel density estimation for

Package: wnpp

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: r-cran-kernelheaping
  Version : 2.2.8
  Upstream Author : Marcus Gross,
* URL : https://cran.r-project.org/package=Kernelheaping
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: GNU R
Description : GNU R kernel density estimation for heaped and rounded data
In self-reported or anonymised data the user often encounters heaped
data, i.e. data which are rounded (to a possibly different degree of
coarseness). While this is mostly a minor problem in parametric density
estimation the bias can be very large for non-parametric methods such as
kernel density estimation. This package implements a partly Bayesian
algorithm treating the true unknown values as additional parameters and
estimates the rounding parameters to give a corrected kernel density
estimate. It supports various standard bandwidth selection methods.
Varying rounding probabilities (depending on the true value) and
asymmetric rounding is estimable as well: Gross, M. and Rendtel, U.
 (2016) (). Additionally, bivariate non-
parametric density estimation for rounded data, Gross, M. et al. (2016)
(), as well as data aggregated on areas is
 supported.

Description : GNU R generalized beta distribution of the second kind
Properties, Likelihood, Estimation Package GB2 explores the Generalized
Beta distribution of the second kind. Density, cumulative distribution
function, quantiles and moments of the distributions are given.
Functions for the full log-likelihood, the profile log-likelihood and
the scores are provided. Formulas for various indicators of inequality
and poverty under the GB2 are implemented. The GB2 is fitted by the
methods of maximum pseudo-likelihood estimation using the full and
profile log-likelihood, and non-linear least squares estimation of the
model parameters. Various plots for the visualization and analysis of
the results are provided. Variance estimation of the parameters is
provided for the method of maximum pseudo-likelihood estimation. A
mixture distribution based on the compounding property of the GB2 is
presented (denoted as "compound" in the documentation). This mixture
distribution is based on the discretization of the distribution of the
underlying random scale parameter. The discretization can be left or
right tail. Density, cumulative distribution function, moments and
quantiles for the mixture distribution are provided. The compound
mixture distribution is fitted using the method of maximum pseudo-
likelihood estimation. The fit can also incorporate the use of auxiliary
information. In this new version of the package, the mixture case is
complemented with new functions for variance estimation by linearization
 and comparative density plots.

Description : collection of Future-returning IO methods

The Future::IO distribution provides a few basic methods that behave
similarly to the same-named core perl functions relating to IO operations,
but yield their results asynchronously via Future instances.

This is provided primarily as a decoupling mechanism, to allow modules to be
written that perform IO in an asynchronous manner to depend directly on this,
while allowing asynchronous event systems to provide an implementation of
these operations.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

Description : Convert LaTeX commands to Unicode
LaTeX::ToUnicode provides a method to convert LaTeX-style markups for
accents
etc. into their Unicode equivalents. It translates commands for special
characters or accents into their Unicode equivalents and removes formatting
commands. It is not at all bulletproof or complete.
 .
This module converts values from BibTeX files into plain text.
 .
In contrast to TeX::Encode, this module does not create HTML of any kind,
including for HTML/XML metacharacters such as <, >, &, which can appear
literally in the output. Entities are other handling for these has to
happen
at another level, if need be.

This package is needed by BibTeX::Parser which I intend to package.
BibTeX::Parser is a pure-perl BibTeX parser which is used by some of
uppackaged tools I work with.

* Package name: node-carto
  Version : 1.2.0
  Upstream Author : MapBox
* URL : http://github.com/mapbox/carto.git
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Javascript
  Description : Mapnik stylesheet compiler

Carto is a stylesheet renderer for Mapnik. It's an evolution of the
Cascadenik idea and language, with an emphasis on speed and flexibility.

Carto got removed this September because a new version could not be
packaged as nodejs dependencies chroma-js and hsluv were missing. I now
packaged chroma-js and hsluv and both are already in NEW. I packaged the
new upstream version of node-carto and verified that it is working
correctly: https://salsa.debian.org/js-team/node-carto

I'd like to bring back carto into Debian because it is needed for a
prospective new package that I develop as its upstream.

Description : generic serialization library for C++

The Generic Serialization library is designed to address the problem of C++
object persistence in situations where the most typical data access pattern is
"write once read many" (WORM). "Geners" is a set of tools and conventions
which allows its users to develop C++ classes that can be converted to and
from a storable stream of bytes in a well-organized and type-safe manner.
Serialization of STL containers is supported, including the ones added in the
C++11 standard. Independent versioning of each class definition is allowed.

Among others, compared to the boost serialization package, Geners archives
provide random access to stored objects and can be used to create and
serialize very large archive-based objects. Yet, only binary archives are
implemented, and implementing non-intrusive serialization is less transparent.

I am packaging this software as a dependency of stopt, which is a packaging
target of mine. I plan to maintain it myself.

This lets you use AirPlay mirroring on your computer. Its main use is
to act

like an AppleTV for screen-mirroring (with audio) of iOS/macOS clients
(iPads, iPhones, MacBooks) in a window on the server display on a host
running
Linux, macOS, or other unix, using Apple's AirPlay Mirror protocol
first

 available in iOS 5.

This is similar like scrcpy just not for Android but iDevices.

I think I didn't changed that file so I filed this bug report.

Package: cppcheck
Version: 2.6-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: colomar.6@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

I installed and run cppcheck on a system which I had not used for half a year.
For that reason, many of its packages were outdated.

glibc was on version 2.31.

When I run cppcheck, it failed with the following error:

cppcheck: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found
(required by cppcheck)

I found the following dependencies' information:

$ apt-rdepends cppcheck | head -n2
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
cppcheck
  Depends: libc6 (>= 2.29)

So it clearly is incorrect, AFAICS.
It should declare a dependency for libc6 2.32

Regards,
Alex

P.S.:
You'll find below that my installed libc6 is 2.32;
that's because I updated it to be able to use checkpatch,
prior to sending this bug report.
Please ignore that.

  Version : v21
  Upstream Author : Michał Górny
* URL : https://github.com/mgorny/pyproject2setuppy
* License : BSD-2-Clause
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : install pyproject.toml-based packages using plain setuptools

The original description:

pyproject2setuppy is a tool to install pyproject.toml-based packages
using plain setuptools. It maps the project metadata into setup() call
arguments, making it possible to build them without installing the
dependencies of the new build systems.
 .
 Supported features
 .
Currently the following build systems are supported:
 .
  * flit
  * poetry
 .
Only minimal build/install functionality is supported. Dependencies and
 sdist-related information are not propagated.
 .
Scripts and entry points are not supported at the moment. This is subject
 to change in the future.

I plan to write a debhelper plugin to allow using this script together
with pybuild and dh-python.

Having joined #debian-python about ten seconds after submitting this, I found
myself in a middle of a conversation about native flit, poetry and
setup.py-less setuptools support in pybuild:

https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/tools/dh-python/-/merge_requests/21

It would seem pyproject2setuppy won’t be necessary after all in Debian.

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Hello,

node-knockout-transformations is no longer a dependency of the rainloop
package, and has no other reverse-dependencies in Debian. It is unlikely
to be used by another package, so there's little reason to maintain it
in the Debian archive.

Dear maintainer(s),

We are in the transition of adding python3.10 to the supported Python
versions [0]. With a recent upload of python3-defaults the autopkgtest
of python-odoorpc fails in testing when that autopkgtest is run with the
binary packages of python3-defaults from unstable. It passes when run
with only packages from testing. In tabular form:

   passfail
python3-defaults from testing3.9.8-1
python-odoorpc from testing0.7.0-3
all others from testingfrom testing

I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report.
https://docs.python.org/3.9/library/collections.html says:

"""
Deprecated since version 3.3, will be removed in version 3.10: Moved
Collections Abstract Base Classes to the collections.abc module. For
backwards compatibility, they continue to be visible in this module
through Python 3.9.

"""
Time to move on.

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of python3-defaults
to testing [1]. https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.10.html lists
what's new in Python3.10, it may help to identify what needs to be updated.

[This bug is not targeted to the upcoming bullseye release]

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-11/g++-11, but succeeds to build with gcc-10/g++-10. The
severity of this report will be raised before the bookworm release,
so nothing has to be done for the bullseye release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/20210228/filtered/gcc11/darkice_1.3-0.2_unstable_gcc11.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 11, either set CC=gcc-11 CXX=g++-11 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-11/porting_to.html

GCC 11 defaults to the GNU++17 standard. If your package installs
header files in /usr/include, please don't work around C++17 issues
by choosing a lower C++ standard for the package build, but fix these
issues to build with the C++17 standard.

On amd64, when /etc/zhcon.conf is modified to use unicon Smart Pinyin
input method, i.e., when the following line is moved to the top of the
list:

ime = 智能拼音,modules/cce/cce_pinyin.so,modules/cce/dict,gb2312,unicon

zhcon crashes upon hitting "Ctrl-Space", the input method's activation.

Other unicon table-based input methods work fine, but if the selected
input method were ever used, a segmentation fault message is shown
upon a normal user-initiated exit from zhcon.

On the other hand, zhcon:i386 and unicon-imc2:i386 work just fine.

It could be a bug in zhcon, in unicon-imc2, or both.

Package: zhcon
Followup-For: Bug #805557
X-Debbugs-Cc: atzli...@sina.com, 805557-d...@bugs.debian.org

This bug had fixed in 1:0.2.6-19.

The main change between in Debian 11 stable 1:0.2.6-18 and Debian 12 testing
1:0.2.6-19 is that the zhcon Build-Depends: remove libpth-dev.

I think that it is the libpth-dev package under amd64 arch cause this bug.

The maintainer of libpth-dev package want to RM this package in Debian 12[1],
and zhcon don't use this package now.So, not forward this bug.

Dear maintainer(s),

We are in the transition of adding python3.10 to the supported Python
versions [0]. With a recent upload of python3-defaults the autopkgtest
of python-pbr fails in testing when that autopkgtest is run with the
binary packages of python3-defaults from unstable. It passes when run
with only packages from testing. In tabular form:

   passfail
python3-defaults from testing3.9.8-1
python-pbr from testing5.6.0-2
all others from testingfrom testing

I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report.

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of python3-defaults
to testing [1]. https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.10.html lists
what's new in Python3.10, it may help to identify what needs to be
updated. https://docs.python.org/3.9/library/collections.html says:

"""
Deprecated since version 3.3, will be removed in version 3.10: Moved
Collections Abstract Base Classes to the collections.abc module. For
backwards compatibility, they continue to be visible in this module
through Python 3.9.

"""
Time to move on.
