/me remembers seeing a similar bugreport and that was going to be fixed on
libgd side, should hopefully be fixed by now?

Bug#366305: No by-id evdev device for mouse component of Logitech Elite Keyboard

2006-05-06 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Package: udev
Version: 0.091-2
Severity: normal

Current udev rules lack a by-id evdev node for the mouse/scroll-wheel component
of the Logitech Elite keyboard. Addition of the following rule to
/etc/udev/persistant-input.rules corrects the behavior:

BUS=="usb", SYSFS{bInterfaceClass}=="03", SYSFS{bInterfaceProtocol}=="00", \
   ENV{ID_CLASS}="mouse"

Inquiry has been made with upstream as to whether or not this is correct:

Bug#366280: screen -r occationally freezes

Please strace both the screen client process and server processes and
send the results to this bug report.

Odds are it will be blocked on a read/write from/to a fd. Typically this
happens when you have an ssh session that drops and the socket is
waiting for tcp to timeout.

Bug#366304: Google search implementation

2006-05-06 Thread Christopher David Desjardins
Package: deskbar-applet
Version: 2.14.1.1-2
Severity: Wishlist

It would be nice to see the google search implemented into
deskbar-applet. I know that Ubuntu has this implemented
in their version of deskbar-applet and that it is selectable under
Preferences after getting a Google API key and the GoogleSearch.wsdl
( available at www.google.com/apis/ )

Cheers!

Bug#366302: libgtk2.0-dev: description of gtk_list_store_insert_after suggests that slibing can be null. However it doesn't work that way

2006-05-06 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: libgtk2.0-dev
Version: 2.8.17-2
Severity: normal

Let's take the gtk_list_store_insert_after function. It is described in
documentation like this:

void gtk_list_store_insert_after(GtkListStore *list_store, GtkTreeIter *iter,
GtkTreeIter *sibling);

Inserts a new row after sibling. If sibling is NULL, then the row will be
prepended to the beginning of the list. iter will be changed to point to this
new row. The row will be empty after this function is called. To fill in
values, you need to call gtk_list_store_set() or gtk_list_store_set_value().

But when I pass null as a slibing I got this error:

Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_insert_after: assertion `VALID_ITER (sibling,
list_store)' failed

Bug#290774: fixed in subversion 1.3.1-3

2006-05-06 Thread Peter Samuelson

[Vincent Lefevre]
> This is a very bad idea, as the encoding of the files from the
> repository is common for every user, thus does not necessarily
> correspond to the locales.

subversion has to guess, one way or another. Guessing that you want
your files to look like UTF-8 but your filenames to look like KOI8-R
seems pretty dumb.

If you want to edit UTF-8 content, you should probably be using a UTF-8
locale - I doubt most text editors will do the right thing otherwise.
And for XML tools that expect a file to be UTF-8-encoded, what will
they think of filename references in some foreign encoding?

> Note that upstream disagrees concerning this patch, e.g.
>
> http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=115189

No - they're of mixed opinions. Brane disagrees, Julian doesn't:

http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2006-04/0785.shtml

Ivan thinks keywords should not be localised at all, which also solves
the problem, but that's a lot harder to implement.

Bug#366301: libflash-mozplugin: Segfaults with all urls on amd64

2006-05-06 Thread Anders Ellenshøj Andersen
Package: libflash-mozplugin
Version: 0.4.13-6
Severity: important

No flash animations can be played at all. In konqueror any page
containing a flash animation causes a segfault. Only libflash seems to
segfault though. Konqueror keeps working, but the flash animation is not
displayed. A grey box is shown instead.

Bug#366300: xfce4: Xfce4 package uninstallable due to version problems in dependency

2006-05-06 Thread Edgar Ibsen
Package: xfce4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I cannot install the package "xfce4" because it depends on several packages
in the unstable repository that has a version number smaller than the
required one (4.3.90). For example, Xfwm4, though there are a few others.

Bug#366299: module-assistant: m-a doesn't add kernel's debian release number to deb pkgs version anymore

2006-05-06 Thread Mau
Package: module-assistant
Version: 0.10.3
Severity: minor

Some time ago I noticed that the packages built with m-a were named differently
as before.
An example building nvidia-kernel sources against 2.6.16-1-686-smp-2.6.16-12
should be much
clear than words:

- old scheme: nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-686-smp_1.0.8756-4+2.6.16-12_i386.deb
- new scheme: nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-686-smp_1.0.8756-4_i386.deb

I looked up about that change in the bug reports and in the docs without
results, so I
really can't understand if such a change has been caused by a misconfiguration
or by a
choice of the maintainer.

Since I'm used to keep the built packages in case of problems with the new
kernel release,
considering that sometime it happens that the modules built against a previous
release are
no longer loadable in newer releases, in my opinion the old naming/versioning
scheme was a
better choice than the new one.

The new versioning scheme causes another problem: when a pre-built binary
package becomes
available on the repositories, the release of the kernel against which it has
been built
is not considered anymore by apt: in these days a
nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-686-smp-1.0.8756+1
binary package is available on the non-free repository (probably built against
2.6.16-10)
and apt claims that it's newer than the
nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-686-smp-1.0.8756-4 package
that I've built by myself against 2.6.16-12.

Thanks and regards

Mau

Bug#211765: Where have these files gone?

2006-05-06 Thread Nathanael Nerode
With the modular split of Xorg 7, these files have probably scattered to
different packages.

Can someone suggest a good strategy for figuring out which packages currently
contain the affected files? I don't want to download every single package
source one at a time and grep through it, but I'll do it if that's the only
way. I also suspect that most of the files have gone to a small number of
packages, and that a fair number of them may have disappeared (the
Imakefiles).

Bug#335105: Patch to fix the rand failure and ExtUtils::MakeMaker issue in perl-5.8.8

2006-05-06 Thread Don Armstrong
tag 335105 patch
tag 357264 patch
thanks

Attached is a patch to fix these two bugs; a brief explanation:

The fix for #335105 is to hard code the two numbers which are passed
between the forked child and the parent; rand can conceivably return
the same value twice in a row (although, such an occurance should be
rare.) Also, the test as written would have erroneously succeded if
the child never wrote anything at all.

The fix for #357264 is to always call perl with the proper -I option;
in the worst case, this is a null operation, but in cases where there
are inter-module dependencies in modules that cannot depend on
pm_to_blib the previous method would cause build failures. [See
#356975]

The attached interdiff prepared as if it were an NMU should fix
#335105 and has been tested to fix #357264 (and in consequence,
#356975)

Bug#366296: nullmailer does not preserve administrator settings when debconf is being used

2006-05-06 Thread Don Armstrong
Package: nullmailer
Severity: serious
Version: 1:1.02-3

The removal of ucf support has broken the ability of nullmailer to
recognize when an administrator has made changes to the configuration

administrator changes upon upgrade.

This is a violation of policy, and as such, is RC.

Bug#366294: rhythmbox: crash (segfault) when incremental searching past song titled "Never"

2006-05-06 Thread Tim
Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.9.3.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

If you have a song in your list entitled 'Never', attempts to use
incremental search will crash when it passes over this file (the search
string is irrelevant, just the entries traversed by the search code).

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Add a song whose title metadata is "Never" (exactly) to your library
2. In the library view, starting from the first song, try to
incremental-search past the newly-added song (typing a number of 'z's
works for me)
3. It will crash

I can reproduce this problem consistently (as long as a song entitled
"Never" is in my playlist).

I filed this against upstream, and they had already fixed it in the next
version. - http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340854
Since unstable is still on 0.9.3, I figure a vendor patch may alleviate
this in the mean time.

The relevant portion of the stack trace is:
#3
#4 0xa700a6e2 in strstr () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
#5 0x080d8335 in type_ahead_search_func (model=0x84a2150, column=1,
key=0x87c7f58 "zzz", iter=0xaf86a6f8, search_data=0x0)
at rb-entry-view.c:201
#6 0xa7699421 in gtk_tree_view_set_search_equal_func () from
/usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
#7 0xa7699bb1 in gtk_tree_view_set_search_equal_func () from
/usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
#8 0xa71daa2b in g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID () from
/usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0

The whole thing is 64 frames and is mostly event handler goodness.
Details are in the bug I linked to. It boils down to passing a null
to strstr: rb_refstring_get_folded(entry->title) returns null.

The flaw is exposed in widgets/rb-entry-view.c (type_ahead_search_func).
It really occurs in rhythmdb/rb-refstring.c (rb_refstring_new_full).

Package: bugzilla

Hi, I have a bugzilla, served by 2 httpd on two interfaces.

One is apache, the other is boa.

After creating a new bug on the boa, anything I try, I get the error
message from boa: the browser have sent an illegal request.

Using any browser (Konqueror, Firefox, IE). Until I delete all the
cookies, from which point on everything works fine again.

On the other interface, served by the apache this does not happen.

Probably there is something wrong with boa too, but I think bugzilla
shouldn't create that cookie on the first place.

Bug#298648: cdparanoia generates a lot of warnings from the kernel

2006-05-06 Thread Jurij Smakov

Hi Graham,

I was able to find this rather old posting on the topic:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.cd-paranoia.general/611

Bill Davidsen (second message) mentions some fixes which were supposed to
improve the situation, but it looks like they never made it to mainline
kernels. Can you please confirm that with recent versions of cdparanoia
and kernel you still get messages in the logs? If you do, I might try
pinging the people involved to revive the discussion.

Best regards,

1) I'm glad to see ajaxterm approaching Debian because I think it's
   really useful.
2) I've tried it today and it didn't work in any of 3 three tested
browsers. I hope that your Debian package will be better (or at least

Bug#366291: nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-k7: Won't load into linux-image-2.6.16-1-k7 version 2.6.16-12

2006-05-06 Thread Sam Morris
Package: nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-k7
Version: 1.0.8756+1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I get these errors when trying to load the module:

nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
nvidia: disagrees about version of symbol register_chrdev
  nvidia: Unknown symbol register_chrdev

Compiling my own package from nvidia-kernel-source version 1.0.8756-4
works fine.

Bug#366292: xlibmesa-dri broken image and SEGV with ATI Radeon 7000 IGP

2006-05-06 Thread Gustavo HC Silva

Package: xlibmesa-dri
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6

When using acceleration and direct rendering the image comes-up all
garbled-up and sometimes the programs quits due to a SEGV error.

This error can be easily reproduced using blender3d or gmsh. Before
selecting any objects blender or gmsh the image is fine. After selecting
any object the image becomes completely garbled. If you rotate the
object view in gmsh repeatedly it will throw the SEGV error.

If you turn of direct rendering the two programs work fine. The
xlibmesa3-dri-trunk package with XFree86 does not produce this bug.

I'm using Debian testing with kernel 2.6.16.11.

Here is my xorg.conf if it helps:

Nor does this version...
^^

And this version of gcompris does exist, but is not the current version on
your architecture. Looks to me like you need to apt-get update. :)

There is still a lower-priority bug here, in that gcompris*-data* 7.3.2-1+b1
never existed; gcompris is not binNMU-safe because gcompris depends on
gcompris-data (= ${Source-Version}), but gcompris-data is Arch: all.
Luckily, the latest version of dpkg now supports a new variable,
${source:Version}, which can be used with a build-dependency on dpkg-dev (>=
1.3.19).

Cheers,

Bug#366293: bugzilla: With mysql5 queries do not work anymore

2006-05-06 Thread Gabor Nagy
Package: bugzilla
Version: 2.16.7-7sarge1
Severity: important

Hi, I have a mostly sarge system. I have been using bugzilla with sarge
version of mysql for some time.

Because a new application needs mysql5 I have upgraded it from testing.

Now all the queries I have tried in bugzilla fail with messages like
this:

Software error:
SELECT DISTINCT bugs.bug_id, bugs.groupset, bugs.bug_severity, bugs.priority,
bugs.rep_platform, map_assigned_to.login_name, bugs.bug_status,

AND not isnull(selectVisible_cc.who)) OR (bugs.assigned_to = 1)) AND
bugs.assigned_to = map_assigned_to.userid AND bugs.reporter =
map_reporter.userid AND bugs.assigned_to = map_assigned_to.userid AND
bugs.reporter = map_reporter.userid AND (bugs.bug_status = 'NEW' OR
bugs.bug_status = 'ASSIGNED' OR bugs.bug_status = 'REOPENED') AND
(map_assigned_to.login_name = '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' OR map_reporter.login_name =
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]') ORDER BY bugs.bug_id : Unknown column 'bugs.qa_contact' in
'on clause' at /usr/share/bugzilla/lib/globals.pl line 284.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), giving this
error message and the time and date of the error.

So what's up?

Bugzilla doesn't like mysql5, or the mysql4->5 upgrade went wrong? The
bugs themselves are there, so I thought that the upgrade was successful.

What can I do to have my queries back?

Cheers, Gabor

When I tell gnome-power-manager to suspend my system it pops up saying

and:

So I don't see why I am unable to suspend the machine.

Bug#290774: fixed in subversion 1.3.1-3

Please revert this patch. This is a very bad idea, as the encoding of
the files from the repository is common for every user, thus does not
necessarily correspond to the locales. In particular, this patch will
break some XML files as $LastChangedDate$ can safely be used in UTF-8
only (i.e. if users want to use $LastChangedDate$, they should encode
the corresponding files in UTF-8 -- this is a current limitation until
Subversion bug 2332 is fixed).

Note that upstream disagrees concerning this patch, e.g.

Hi Robert,

things behave the way you say, but I don't think this is a bug, or at
least not in the sense you mean. In particular, from a typographical
standpoint, I don't think you should use $<<$ to mean much less than:
$<$ is a binary relation, it has special spacing before and after, and
is not really meant to be doubled; you should really use $\ll$ instead,
as in $1 \ll 100$.

Anyhow, I'm forwarding this report upstream, as it is maybe unclear
whether "<<" and ">>" matching in math mode is useful or troublesome.

Bug#310772: Confirmed, same problem here

2006-05-06 Thread Adrian Knoth
Hi,

I'm experiencing the same problems. named stops answering on
the IPv6 socket, but can still responds to queries via IPv4.

The problem is completely new, I've never seen this within
a year on this server, expect once in February. After
migrating the box to another network (with a lot of broadcast
traffic, the old location was pretty isolated), all was fine
for six days and now named fails after a few seconds/minutes.

rndc reload|flush|whatever does not fix the problem.

The box is always connected to the internet, no PPP
or anything like this, so there are no disconnects.

Package: devscripts
Version: 2.9.19
Severity: normal

After uupdating from an upstream .tar.bz2, a foo-1.2.3.orig directory is
created, but not repacked into a .tar.gz; the .orig.tar.gz is created
from the directory by dpkg-source during the build. However, debuild
complains anyway:

This package has a Debian revision number but there does not seem to be
an appropriate .orig.tar.gz in the parent directory; continue anyway?
  (y/n) at /usr/bin/debuild line 930.

It should check for a directory as well (or uupdate should repack
immediately, I guess).

Bug#366284: Segfaults when changing options if ~/.w3m not accessible

2006-05-06 Thread Karsten Schoelzel
Package: w3m
Version: 0.5.1-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

If ~/.w3m doesn't exist and can not be created or is no directory then
w3m segfaults if you change a option (either in the option panel or via
-o option_name=value). This is fixed in the attached patch.
With this patch w3m will read the system-wide config files and honours
-config filename option in this case.

If you use -o alt_entity=0 ("Use ASCII equivalents to display

kde meta package is not meant to be small, use kde-core for that.
same is true for kdeartwork: if you don't need kdeartwork whole, just

Bug#366283: Segfault in r200 driver (glDrawArrays)

2006-05-06 Thread Darren Salt
Package: libgl1-mesa-dri
Version: 6.4.1-0.4

I can reliably cause a segfault in EDGE [1] by playing the game without first
accessing its console and typing

  set vertexarray 0

Partial backtrace:

  #0 0x in ?? ()
  #1 0xb6ea4461 in _math_trans_1ub () from /usr/lib/dri/r200_dri.so
  #2 0xb6ece3db in _ac_import_edgeflag () from /usr/lib/dri/r200_dri.so
  #3 0xb6ea58ae in _tnl_vb_bind_arrays () from /usr/lib/dri/r200_dri.so
  #4 0xb6ea4f9f in _tnl_DrawArrays () from /usr/lib/dri/r200_dri.so
  #5 0xb7dec328 in glDrawArrays () from /usr/lib/libGL.so.1

There's only one call to glDrawArrays in EDGE: RGL_DrawUnits in rgl_unit.cpp.

This same code works with vertexarray = 1 without crashing when run with
X.org 6.8.2 and the corresponding xlibmesa-dri; however, 6.9.0 also shows
this bug.

I've sent a workaround patch to the EDGE maintainers, causing vertexarray to
be set to 0 by default for the r200 driver from this version of Mesa.

Bug#366176: krita: Krita does not start after installation

2006-05-06 Thread Robert Gomułka
severity 366176 normal
retitle 366176 Krita cannot be started just after fresh install
thanks

For unknown reason I can now start the application. I have done two things in
the meantime:
1. System restart
2. System update/upgrade
I guess the first one fixed problem somehow. But in my opinion it still
exists, but is something different - krita cannot be launched after fresh
installation.

Bug#364530: xfonts-utils: needless heirarchy change under /etc/X11/fonts

2006-05-06 Thread Steve Langasek
Right, woke up this morning and realized there was a bug in my last patch.
:) Attached is a fixed patch which actually traverses /etc/X11/fonts/X11R7
when the utils are invoked with -7.

Given the gyrations added in this revision, I'm inclined to just update it
to always look in /etc/X11/fonts/X11R7 if present, which would mean that
debhelper-using packages updated for the current xorg7 layout would be
non-buggy even after rebuild.

Read the log. Mldonkey complains about stale files that prevent it from
starting, which should show up in the log. If that doesn't work for you,
then delete any files ending with .tmp, which should be enough.

I can't tell whether that means the eject is necessary between the
burn and the verify. I suppose if the burn uses direct hardware
access and the verify needs a mount then it might be.

I was puzzled that one of the items (#3) in bug 73616 seemed to say that
checking the "do not eject button" was effective.

I think I forgot to mention one thing that might be relevant: my dvd
drive can not be mounted via fstab. It has an entry for the disk, but
a bogus mountpoint.

Bug#366119: alsaplayer-gtk: No text description on playlist buttons

2006-05-06 Thread Hubert Chan
This is most likely a bug in either GTK or your GTK configuration,
since the text is definitely there. My guess would be that GTK can't
find the font to display the text.

If you run alsaplayer from the command-line, does it output any useful
error massages? Have you tried other GTK 1 programs? (Unfortunately,
there are very few of them now, since most applications have been
ported to GTK 2.)

Bug#366276: linux-image-2.6.16-1-686: e1000 VLAN support broken in linux-image 2.6.16-12 (2.6.16-1-686)

2006-05-06 Thread Jorgen Rosink
Package: linux-image-2.6.16-1-686
Version: 2.6.16-12
Severity: normal

After booting 2.6.16-12 linux-image VLAN support on Intel e1000 network
interface is
broken. VLAN's did and do work on all previous Debian 2.6.16 linux-images.

--- example ---

# ifup vlan72
Set name-type for VLAN subsystem. Should be visible in /proc/net/vlan/config
Added VLAN with VID == 72 to IF -:eth0:-
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
vlan72: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device
vlan72: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
vlan72: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
Failed to bring up vlan72.

# cat /proc/net/vlan/config
VLAN Dev name| VLAN ID
Name-Type: VLAN_NAME_TYPE_PLUS_VID_NO_PAD
vlan72_temp| 72 | eth0

--- end example ---

These are messages I've seen earlier while trying to load VLAN support on
interfaces/drivers that doesn't support 802.1q. I noticed e1000 changes
from the latest linux-image changelog:

- NET: e1000: Update truesize with the length of the packet for packet split

Could this problem be related to this change ?

Bug#348929: k3b: dvd verification still a problem

Ok, I have reopened the bug. I will try to have a look at it soon and
forward it to the K3b developer. Thanks for verifying it against the latest
version.

Actually, this has been reported before on the upstream bugtracker
(http://bugs.kde.org/73616) and here's what the K3b developer had to say:

"As far as I know linux still needs the cd/dvd to be ejected after burning to
return to a proper state. That's why I kepp this eject between stuff."

Bug#354268: Debian packages of Haskell crypto and newbinary libraries

2006-05-06 Thread Arjan Oosting
Hi Charles,

I was wondering if you are still working on the packages for Haskell
Crypto and Haskell NewBinary.

The latest version of Haskell HTTP needs the Crypto and NewBinary
packages, so before a new version of Haskell HTTP can be uploaded the
Crypto and NewBinary packages should be ready and in Debian archive.

Can you inform me what the status of the packaging is and whether you
still want to maintain those libraries.

Greetings Arjan

Bug#366274: Documentation file /usr/share/doc/dvdisaster-doc/en/index.html not found.

2006-05-06 Thread Corey Wright
Package: dvdisaster-doc
Version: 0.66-2
Severity: important

dvdisaster expects the help index file (for the english language) to be
installed at /usr/share/doc/dvdisaster-doc/en/index.html (as evidence by the
error message when requesting help from within dvdisaster).

but the index file is instead at
/usr/share/doc/dvdisaster-doc/html/en/index.html (note the additional "html"
directory).

i gave this a severity of important as the primary way i expect to interface
dvdisaster's help is through the application (as launching firefox and
navigating to the documentation is painful), but that is impossible with
the current configuration. and maybe this bug is more applicable to
dvdisaster instead of the doc package, as that is where the change will
probably be implemented, but it's the doc package that i'm having trouble
using. ;-)

thanks for maintaining dvdisaster!

Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
After a power loss mlnet fails starting up.
(No, I didn't forgot to remove the mlnet.pid file). Killing mlnet probably
leads to the same problem, but I have not tested it.

One way to make it work again is to remove all the files in
/var/lib/mldonkey (not recursively) and to run
dpkg-reconfigure mldonkey-server.

I have a backup copy of the /var/lib/mldonkey directory after this crash. I can
send it if you wish.

Bug#319201: kiax in Debian (was Re: Problems rebuilding twinkle)

It seems that is already done:

Version: 0.8.5-2
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.6-6), libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.0), libgsm1 (>= 1.0.10),
libportaudio0, libqt3-mt (>= 3:3.3.6), libspeex1, libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.0),
libx11-6, libxext6

> George Danchev was talking to upstream to get something along those lines in
> the next upstream release, but I haven't followed anything since.

Well, George, how did that go? For what I see the new version still carries
all the stuff we didn't want, including iLBC, so I suppose we should at
least remove iLBC from our source package.

I have tested it and we can remove the hole lib directory and the program
still compiles, so I guess we could have a source package without this
directory and that would make half of our problems go away, isn't it?

What I don't know is what we'd loose by removing this directory, iLBC for
sure, but that was a wanted effect anyway. But there were some dirs there
like sox, portmixer, ... that we don't have as a shared lib, so... what
where those for?

As for removing iLBC the source is not ready for that and still shows the
iLBC button and it is enabled, so if you choose it and make a call you get
in the console:

ERROR: Codec not supported: 1024
ERROR: Codec could not be created: 1024

I'll have to investigate this more, but this poses problems when loading a
config (iLBC should be changed to some other codec like gsm) and then in the
preferences window where we should either make iLBC not appear or at least
make it appear disabled.

Thoughts on all this?

> Welcome back :-)

Thanks!

> I perfer the kiax UI over twinkle, but I prefer SIP over IAX2.
> Go for it, kiax is needed...

:-) Twinkle is getting better, but the original UI is not good, so it is
only being patched :-( But as I don't care about UI's that's not a problem
for me, I like it better than kiax and I think it works better also.

It looks like this is being fixed in xfonts-utils by getting rid of the
new X11R7 directory, so if I change it now, I'll have to change it back
again. I'm therefore going to hold off until new versions of debhelper
and xfonts-utils have been uploaded and then upload with the new
dependencies.

Thanks for the report, and sorry about the temporary inconvenience.

Bug#366272: unicode_{start,stop} and current virtual terminal - tty0

2006-05-06 Thread Rafal Czlonka
Package: console-tools
Version: 1:0.2.3dbs-62
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

This is actually more sort of a question than a bug report.
If unicode_{start,stop} sets up unicode mode for the first 6 VTs
(tty1-tty6), is there any special reason why tty0 is included as well?

P.S. BTW there is a typo in unicode_start, there should be 'normally'
instead of 'noemally'.

Regards,
rjc

With k3b and libk3b2 both at 0.12.15-2, the same problem persists.

Also, the setting "do not eject CD after write" (Settings | Configure
k3b | Writing | Advanced) is not being honored. Either that, or the
verification option (on the dialogue when I request a burn) always
ejects the disk first.

This time, I got not system window popping up when the dvd went back
in (though I was connected remotely, so perhaps the notification
window got lost).

I also notice that the diff of the dvd against the original files is
quite slow, taking perhaps 1/2 hour. I'm not sure if that's normal,
or it's a sign of some problems with the dvd that are causing lots of
retries. There are no signs of such a problem in the logs. The diff
reports that the files are identical.

Bug#366270: xmms: default audio output plugin is OSS which results in "couldn't open audio" error with ALSA

2006-05-06 Thread Andrew Archibald
Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.10+cvs20050809-5
Severity: normal

When a Debian (testing- etch) system is installed the system audio
default now seems to be ALSA rather than OSS. I suggest it might be
worth changing this default in XMMS so that new users aren't initially
presented with a generic "Couldn't open audio" error.

Bug#366271: Strange naming of vlan intefaces with running udev

2006-05-06 Thread Milan Kocián
Package: udev
Version: 0.091-2
Tags: sid

When I add a vlan via vconfig, I see word _temp in vlanname:

nt:/home/milon# vconfig add eth0 35
Added VLAN with VID == 35 to IF -:eth0:-
nt:/home/milon# ip a
1: lo: mtu 16436 qdisc noqueue

When I stop udev via '/etc/init.d/udev stop' and then I do vlan, all is
OK (old vlanname stays the same) :

nt:/home/milon# vconfig add eth0 109
Added VLAN with VID == 109 to IF -:eth0:-
nt:/home/milon# ip a

14: eth0.109: mtu 1500 qdisc noop
link/ether 00:11:25:2b:19:95 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

But when I repeatdly run udev, I see:

nt:/etc/udev# ip a

link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

14: eth0.109_temp: mtu 1500 qdisc noop
link/ether 00:11:25:2b:19:95 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

All vlannames was changed.

I tried to look at udev's rules, but without any effect. I am not good
expert at udev's processing :-).

Latest unstable. Kernel 2.6.16.1 (myself compiled). Tested kernel:
2.6.13.2. Tested vconfig versions: 1.8, 1.9. No effect. Effect was only
with stopped udev.
Sarge (without udev) is without problems.

Best regards,

Bug#366269: findutils: updatedb has bug in 'select_shell()'

2006-05-06 Thread Chronos Tachyon
Package: findutils
Version: 4.2.27-2
Severity: important

The select_shell() function in /usr/bin/updatedb has a bug in the way it
calls /bin/su; specifically, it attempts 'su "$LOCALUSER" -s $SHELL false',
which runs '/bin/bash false', thus attempting to execute /bin/false as a
shellscript. (The exit code 126 and error message 'cannot execute
binary file' are ignored entirely by updatedb.)

The correct usage of su would be to add "-c" after "-s $SHELL" on lines 87
and 91. This is important if, for instance, the administrator has set
$LOCALUSER's shell to /bin/false (which is how I discovered this bug).

I had a look again and it seems like it crashes on the mapping statement
if it comes first. Try to put the "auto lo, iface lo.."-stuff and put it
before, then after.

Another thing that's a bit fun is to leave the first line blank. Then it
gets stuck in some kind of endless loop.

Hi,

the current version fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD.

In fact, this is reopen of #335257, the fix for tclconfig/tcl.m4
somehow got lost. Please, could you apply it again and rerun autoconf.

It would also be nice if you can ask upstream to include this change.

Thanks

Petr

Nope, with a 24 depth I get the attached output from glxinfo.
Every GL Program I started displayed at least something, but with a
left-shift of 640px (screenwidth/2) and - subjective impression - much
slower than what
I was used to.

Regarding the non-debian X components: I can assure you that that's not
the case, however I found something fishy in my logs ... see 2nd attachment.

Bug#366268: noatun: Opening an mp3 in Noatun when using "media:/" within Konqueror causes unnecessary copy

2006-05-06 Thread Andrew Archibald
Package: noatun
Version: 4:3.5.1-1
Severity: normal

Whenever I open an mp3 file in Noatun, from Konqueror, when browsing
through "media:/", the file is copied to /home// before being
opened. I don't see this behaviour when browsing in through "/mnt/hd?/"
or with other media players.

I have a freshly installed copy of Debian testing (etch) wihich
has KDE 3.5.2. Please let me know if any further information is needed.

Thanks,
Andrew.

checking for libtasn1-config... /usr/bin/libtasn1-config
checking for libtasn1 - version >= 0.3.1... no
*** An old version of LIBTASN1 (0.2.17) was found.
*** You need a version of LIBTASN1 newer than 0.3.1.
-

This is not fixable until libtasn >= 0.3.1 is uploaded, which will
need to go through the NEW queue as the soname has changed.

cu and- I think that *you* already know that, but is nice to document
it in the bts. -reas

Bug#349398: im-switch suggestion

2006-05-06 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi, let me follow up on my word.

Here is example of shell script which checks dependency almost like the
perl one in the package. (Not much testing yet but seems to work OK here.)

If you include this, you can remove dependency to PERL.

Osamu
#!/bin/bash

To reproduce this try "apt-get source nvidia-glx" and then build it with
"fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage".

When I went back to the previous version of binutils, it fixed the problem.

Best Regards.
