Bug#451335: xserver-xorg problem with pre/post-removal scripts

2008-01-07 Thread Vitaliyi
In fact problem appeared as a result of restoring /etc/group from
backup. Script was unable to find group 'Debian-exim' and raising
error.
Btw, such group cannot be created with groupadd.

OK, I've recompiled octave w/ -O2 -g and it dies on loading
dispatch.oct. This could be enough info for upstream to fix it.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

Bug#459699: ITP: sdlroads -- SDL-based recreation of classic plane-jump game

2008-01-07 Thread Christopher Schmidt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Christopher Schmidt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: sdlroads
  Version : 0.10
  Upstream Author : Peter Newman
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/sdlroads/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : SDL-based recreation of classic plane-jump game

 This game is a recreation of the Bluemoon classic, Skyroads. The game
 allows you to control a small spaceship, which you must jump from plane
 to plane to reach the end of the level without falling off the edges or
 into any gaps.

 I'm working with the upstream author to clean up the source code, and
 the project Homepage may change as a result of this. The code has been
 largely untouched for several years, but it has been used occasionally
 in that time period with no known bugs.

package octave2.9
retitle 418158 poisscdf fails for large arguments due to the algorithm in D9LGIT
tags 418158 upstream wontfix
thanks

Francesco confirmed in a private mail that the only remaining problem is
indeed with the poisscdf call. He received a private mail by someone
suggesting that the problem is with the algorithm in D9LGIT.

I'm tagging this bug "wontfix", although "cantfix" probably describes
the situation better: the best solution would be to use a different
implementation for poisscdf(), if its arguments are large, but I don't
think we in Debian have the knowledge for this.

Octave's upstream is likely to accept a patch for this, so feel
encouraged to submit one.

Which wasn't needed anymore because it got replaced by gcc-4.3, and so
also got rejected.

Can you try the latest upstream git before I forward this bug upstream?
Since radeonhd evolves very quickly, I would rather not waste
developer's time by reporting a bug that's already fixed in their git repo.

To build the driver, see http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/10936.html and
replace intel with radeonhd

Bug#459615: coreutils: id doesn't show the user's supplementary groups when using hesiod

2008-01-07 Thread Jim Meyering
Thanks for the patch.
That may be enough for Debian (i.e., if there's a versioned requirement
on glibc), but for upstream, one missing part is an autoconf run-test
to ensure that using getgrouplist doesn't cause a segfault. See the
note in coreutils/TODO for details.

Are you interested in pursuing this?

Hi,

There's a new snapshop of the intel driver in experimental

could you guys test them and tell me whether they fix your rendering

about other boards.

I will upload TeXcount.pl to CTAN as soon as I have checked that the latest
changes I've made do not have any serious side-effects: I made some updates
to the latest version based on feedback, and the new version has not been
tested yet. I've also had one more change I wanted to make before uploading
it, but should perhaps just as well upload it rather than wait as I don't
quite know when I'll get the time to make them.

I suppose uploading the Perl file alone is sufficient since it's only one
file: I'll add licence information and reference to my web page and web
service (for web service, news, reference, etc.) to the Perl file before
uploading it to CTAN. The LaTeX Project Public Licence seems suitable for my

Ok the update-alternatives
--install /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme \
 x-cursor-theme
"/etc/X11/cursors/$THEME.theme"

had not installed /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme for a strange

Bug#458895: maven2: commons-cli.jar is the culprit

2008-01-07 Thread Mike Paul
Package: maven2
Version: 2.0.8-3
Followup-For: Bug #458895

Comparing the Java commands run by Debian's /usr/bin/mvn script and the
one in Apache's release, it turns out that the problem occurs if
the -Dmaven.home= option is set to /usr/share/maven2, but not if it
refers to Apache's distribution.

However, if I rearrange the Java command line so that the -DgroupId and
-DartifactId commands come *before* the class name
(org.codehaus.classworlds.Launcher), then it works even with
-Dmaven.home=/usr/share/maven2. When they're given after the class name,
they're passed through to the application rather than interpreted by the
JVM, so it looks like Apache's version is manually handling -D options
given to the application, setting properties as if they'd been given to
the JVM, and Debian's version is not.

I ran a diff between /usr/share/maven2 and the contents of Apache's Maven
distribution, and found that there are a bunch of jars in
/usr/share/maven2/lib that aren't in the Apache distribution's lib/
directory. It turns out that /usr/share/maven2/lib/commons-cli.jar is
the one that makes the difference: if I copy that jar into a
freshly-unpacked copy of Apache's Maven distribution, the problem
occurs there too.

I don't know much about the commons-cli library, but since it does
command-line parsing, it stands to reason that it could be what's doing
the special handling of -D options given to the application. Apache's
Maven distribution includes commons-cli in its maven-2.0.8-uber.jar,
which I guess I'm overriding when I copy Debian's commons-cli.jar into
the lib/ directory.

So, it looks like Debian's commons-cli isn't handling -D options passed
to the application like Apache's does.

Bug#441624: please link against libdb 4.6

2008-01-07 Thread Steve Langasek
severity 441624 important
tags 441624 patch
user [EMAIL PROTECTED]
usertags 441624 ubuntu-patch hardy
thanks

Hi Piotr,

This is really not a "wishlist" bug, it's important that packages migrate to
the current BDB in a timely manner where possible. libnss-db is currently
the highest-priority reverse-dependency (Priority: standard) of libdb4.3,
and as mentioned it needs to be fixed before another package can be rebuilt
against db4.6, so this needs to be dealt with so that db4.3 can be removed
from the archive (or at least, demoted) for the lenny release.

Attached then is a patch to build against db4.6. Please upload this fix, or
else please indicate if you would like me to NMU for this change.

Thanks,

When reading an HTML message containing images from a sender that has

Bug#459693: libmail-gnupg-perl: mime_encrypt fails on bigger messages

2008-01-07 Thread Albert Dengg
Package: libmail-gnupg-perl
Version: 0.10-2
Severity: normal

i wrote a little test application for encrypting mails through procmail
using Mail:GnuPG:

---
use Mail::GnuPG;
my $mg = new Mail::GnuPG;

my $parser = new MIME::Parser;
#$parser->output_under("/tmp");
$parser->output_to_core(True);

$parser->tmp_to_core(True);
$parser->use_inner_files(True);

my $entity = $parser->parse(\*STDIN);

if(!$mg->is_encrypted($entity)) {
if($mg->mime_encrypt (  $entity, ('0xF6D68F49') ) != 0) {
die("some error in gpg");
}
}
$entity->print(\*STDOUT);
---

however, with test messages larger then a few lines, i get timeout...
(it looks like it is in _maybe_print)
gpg does not consume any significant cpu resources though so there is
some problem in passing the data to/from gpg and perl.

and it does not seem to be a problem with keeping the message in ram as
the same with the tmp directory

Bug#459692: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: Thinkpad backlight controls do not work while driver is active

2008-01-07 Thread Chip Salzenberg
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
Version: 1.1.0-1
Severity: normal

My Thinkpad has a blue Fn button; when this is depressed, the Home and End
keys are supposed to control backlight brightness. When the radeonhd driver
is active, these buttons have no effect.

However, the BIOS does seem to know they're being pushed, because after
switching to a text console, and pressing those keys once, the cumulative
effect of the previous presses is also seen.

Subsequently switching back to the radeonhd vt leaves the brightness at the
new (modified) level. So essentially I have to switch to tty1 to change the
backlight brightness.

Bug#459691: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: after Thinkpad suspend, text consoles are all black

2008-01-07 Thread Chip Salzenberg
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
Version: 1.1.0-1
Severity: normal

If an X session with the radeonhd driver is running on my Thinkpad, and I
suspend it (with acpitool), then on resume, all text (non-X) vts are all
black. Nothing seems to bring them back.

In looking at the differences between 2.0.0.9-1 and 2.0.0.9-2, it appears
that the change to debian/icedove.js (installed as
/etc/icedove/pref/icedove.js) is causing the different behavior on my
system. I commented out the following two lines in
/etc/icedove/pref/icedove.js and the problem with google calendar was resolved:

Bug#459690: gnome-panel: clock applet: Please expose or document the option to use a custom date format.

2008-01-07 Thread Piotr Engelking
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.20.2-2
Severity: wishlist

The clock applet has an option to display the date in a custom format. This
option is, however, not visible to the user. It can be exposed by setting
the /apps/panel/applets/clock/prefs/format gconf key to 'custom', but
neither this procedure nor the existence of this option is documented.

As an option to display the date in a custom format is useful, please expose
or document it.

Bug#459689: gnome-panel: clock applet: uses LC_MESSAGES instead of LC_TIME

2008-01-07 Thread Piotr Engelking
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.20.2-2
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

The clock applet uses the locale setting of LC_MESSAGES to decide which date
format to use. It should use LC_TIME, instead.

Steps to reproduce:

With the following locale settings:

$ locale | egrep 'TIME|MESSAGES'
LC_TIME=pl_PL.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES="POSIX"
$

... clock applet displays the date in the US format, ignoring LC_TIME.

Sorry if my information is not sufficient enough, but i am not sure if
can pin-point exactly where the causes of my problem with using Debian
are. Maybe it is a problem in the debian specific kernel. Anyway.
Ubuntu, Mandrake, OpenSuse and Fedora do not give problems like this
on the same hardware.

Yes, Don't know.
Why? ...

> Why is it '/root'?
> I would expect '/'

Yes, me too, but /etc/lilo.conf says clearly that /dev/sdf1 is the
partition which should be used as root partition. Which is recognized
by debian as the 200GB ATA disk on which installed Debian.

I have 3 disks in my computer. 2 ATA disks and 1 SATA disk. I can
change to boot order from these disks in the BIOS. When my 200GB ATA
disks boot i would like to boot Debian, When my 250 GB SATA disk boots
(is first boot device) i can boot Ubuntu 7.10 and when my 320 GB ATA
disk is first boot device i can boot OpenSuse 10.3 All disks have
indeed a boot loader in their masterboot record.

When i install debian from a testing-netinstall image on the 200 GB
ATA disk i get the problems i described. Ubuntu on the same disc gives
no problems, Fedora on the same disk also with the same boot order
from the BIOS gives no problems, Mandrake also does not give any
problems with the same disk order in the BIOS settings.

Debian Etch doesn't even see my ATA disks, and booting with generic
ata enabled gives a kernel OOPS.

Only Debian gives a message about MMCONFIG (also during boot from the
install CD) And i see this also back in the error messages after i
installed with a hanging kernel.

To debug this, please add

network={
ssid="divenet"
id_str="divenet"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
}
to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
and
iface eth2 inet manual
wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
iface divenet inet dhcp
to /etc/network/interfaces.
Then stop a running NetworkManager instance /etc/init.d/network-manager
stop and run
ifup eth2

now I can not wireless network at nm-applet at all...

You misunderstood.
After the above steps (without starting NM again or manually fiddling
with iwconfig/dhclient), do you get a successfull connection or not?

I.e. does wpasupplicant manage to successfully associate or not.

Cheers,
Michael

I guess that was an upgrade feature. The -n flag would be appropriate.

Bug#445848: tomcat5.5: configuration folder permissions

2008-01-07 Thread Javier Serrano Polo
tag 445848 patch
thanks

This patch adds the "private" subfolder for tomcat-users.xml. The
overall permissions are the standard ones (root.root 644), which means:

  * User instances are better supported (as said before)
  * tomcat55 can't overwrite configuration files

Further remarks:

  * The shutdown string isn't important since jsvc entered.
server.xml doesn't need protection.
  * Permissions aren't set recursively to 644, thus custom
configurations aren't overridden.
  * dpkg-statoverride use is based on Debian Policy 10.9.1. Maybe it
should be used with /var folders too.
  * A directory symlink in postinst is removed. It created a symlink
inside the pointed directory instead of overwriting the
directory symlink. Then purging the package didn't delete this
extra symlink.

Bug#456688: karamba: Requesting package removal now

I think the new bug title says it all.
The karamba themes are supported by superkaramba,
 so no feature is missed by removing karamba.

Bug#459687: joe: pads lines with trailing spaces when scrolling

2008-01-07 Thread Piotr Engelking
Package: joe
Version: 3.5-1.1
Severity: normal

When scrolling a text one line at a time, joe pads some lines with trailing
spaces to the length of the lines replaced during scrolling. These extra
spaces are visible to the X text selection.

The problem does not seem to appear in nvi, so I guess it is specific to
joe.

Steps to reproduce:

In an X terminal (gnome-terminal), open the attached file with joe:

$ joe +107 q-iyj

Move the cursor up enough times to scroll the text exactly one line. Select
the text with a mouse. Paste it somewhere we can see the trailing spaces:

$ sed -e 's/$/$/'
[middle click]
Y muuf, veh yj hucydti cu ie $
Ev jxqj ebt cqd Y kiut je adem$

Expected behaviour:

No extra spaces should appear in the selection.

NM uses wpasupplicant for connecting to wireless networks.

To debug this, please add

network={
ssid="divenet"
id_str="divenet"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
}
to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
and

iface eth2 inet manual
   wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

iface divenet inet dhcp

to /etc/network/interfaces.

Then stop a running NetworkManager instance /etc/init.d/network-manager
stop and run

ifup eth2

Does that successfully connect to your wireless network?

Bug#459686: insserv: fails to reorder init scripts

2008-01-07 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: insserv
Version: 1.10.0-1
Severity: important

Running dpkg-reconfigure insserv, it failed and complained about
obsolete init scripts left behind: makedev, procps.sh, sudo and
xserver-xorg.
Alright, filed bug reports against these four packages, removed the
conffiles and symlinks manually, reinstalled the packages and ran
dpkg-reconfigure insserv again.

This time it failed with the short error message:
error: Unable to enable dependency based boot system.

I attached the log file. Hopefully it helps.

Cheers,

This might have been introduced by the recent fix for s390

Where can I get the google calendar plugin to test?

Bug#459684: New stable release, adds support for TPM

2008-01-07 Thread David Smith
Package: opencryptoki
Version:2.2.4.1+dfsg-2

Hi, there's a new release of stable opencryptoki that finally makes the TPM
chip usable for signing and encrypting operations. As the current
opencryptoki Debian package is crippled to only support the software token, I
ask that releasing a new package based on this new release a high priority.

Thank you very much,
David

  I added the latest opencryptoki cvs head code as release 2.2.5. I
wanted to add a bz2 archive along with the gz, but sourceforge ftp
seems to have stopped working. I'll add one later if I can...

Bug#459683: checks for /var/lib/opencryptoki directories in initscript is broken

2008-01-07 Thread David Smith
Package: opencryptoki
Version: 2.2.4.1+dfsg-2

In /etc/init.d/pkcsslotd, the code:
  if [ ! -d /var/lib/opencryptoki/tpm ] && [ -d /var/lib/opencryptoki/swtok ]
  then
/usr/sbin/pkcs11_startup
  else
echo "device not ready yet, aborting."
exit 0
  fi

This causes opencryptoki to fail to startup if the tpm token is in use, and it
causes the tpm to fail to startup if the swtok is not in use, both valid
scenarios. I think the right test is to see if the
directory /var/lib/opencryptoki has any subdirectories, and only if there are
none to run pkcs11_startup.

Something like:

  if [ 0 -ge $(find /var/lib/opencryptoki/ -maxdepth 1 -mindepth 1 -type d |
wc -l) ]; then
/usr/sbin/pkcs11_startup
  fi

And don't even bother with the "device not ready yet, aborting" part.

Thanks,
David Smith

Bug#459682: include udev rule for /dev/tpm access

2008-01-07 Thread David Smith
Package: trousers
Version: 0.3.1-3

Please include a udev rules file for access to the TPM device by the "tss"
group created by the package.

In Ubuntu, trousers installs the file /etc/udev/rules.d/45-trousers.rules:
KERNEL=="tpm[0-9]*", MODE="0600", OWNER="tpm", GROUP="tpm"

Of course, the owner and group should be change to tss to match the Debian
package.

Bug#459679: tcsd does not create a pid file, init script doesn't stop it

2008-01-07 Thread David Smith
Package: trousers
Version: 0.3.1-3

tcsd doesn't create a pidfile, so the init script fails to stop it when told
to. Moreover, the init script uses --oknodo to start-stop-daemon so you don't
know that it hasn't been shutdown.

Please use --background and --make-pidfile with -f to tcsd to make it not fork
and get a pidfile for it in start, and remove the --oknodo in stop.

coreutils version 6.10~20071127-1 is buggy and can't remove

Bug#459676: conduit: Icons not displaying at all

2008-01-07 Thread Alex Malinovich
Package: conduit
Version: 0.3.4-1
Severity: minor

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The icons that are included with Conduit don't show up at all for me.
Running it from the console shows the following error repeatedly:

GError: Icon 'conduit-twoway' not present in theme
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.4/conduit/ModuleWrapper.py",
  line 196, in get_descriptive_icon
  arrow = gtk.icon_theme_get_default().load_icon(arrowName, asize,
  0)

I don't know enough about how the icon themes in Gnome work to provide a
suitable suggestion, but it seems pretty clear that it's just unable to
find the icons for some reason. Looking at the list of files in the
package it looks like the icons all get installed into
/usr/share/icons/hicolor which is, I believe, a theme-specific directory
(i.e. not global).

Everything seems to work just fine otherwise, it's just that there are
no icons for the application or any of the dataproviders.

So the manpages package is out of date WRT the file includes in

Bug#430558: genisoimage: Unexpected joliet directory length

2008-01-07 Thread Giovanni
I have the same problem here, i just discovered it because i found out
that all the data dvd i burnt since now are unredeable by windows and
dvd/divx player.

I usually burn them using growisofs from terminal with the following
command:

$ growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/hdc -J -R -pad Temp/DVD_BURN/

I also try the -r -input-charset cp437 -iso-level 4 options but nothing
change, note that I _always_ get the error in subject.
I try to downgrade to version 1.1.2-1 and it works well, hope i do well
posting here, i only try with growisofs and never with genisoimage by
itself.

Some infos:
Debian Unstable
Kernel: 2.6.22

libc6: 2.7-5
libmagic1: 4.21-4

serious. I believe the problem is related to the original bug reported,
as new mail icon is looking for add-on updates, and the access to gcal

In Debian ispell.el --encoding is used when starting the aspell process,
where that command really belongs. That patch has already been included
upstream and should now be in emacs-snapshot.

I stand corrected, found an obscure problem in the code I added for xemacs
compatibility. Simplified too much.

Cloning bug report. Not yet fully tested patch committed to our cvs.

Bug#459044: dictionaries-common: flyspell symlink in xemacs tree as well, causing two versions of flyspell to exist

It is actually the .elc there what is loaded, but that should make no
difference

The 2007 version is the one from emacs cvs patched to work with xemacs21
and emacs21. While I tried to find all problems seems that some of them got
missed (e.g., #458806).

I can confirm this, but looking at the code, 2007 flyspell.el uses
(easy-mmode) define-minor-mode which, according to the documentation should
preserve the buffer-local character of the mode unless explicitly asked
otherwise.

I will try to look at easy-mmode, in case I am missing something there. Of
course, since I am not fully familiar with the xemacs internals, help is
more than welcome.

I am largely for making the version work everywhere if possible. While I
can always wrap the old definition into a huge (if (featurep 'xemacs) ... )
I would prefer a cleaner fix.

Thanks for your report. Feel free to provide more feedback.

Better use the single byte version (iso-8859-2) as in my former patch and
declare aspell dict as iso-8859-2. That should be converted on-the-fly to
utf-8 if needed.

I think something I am committing should take care of the other problem.

Orphaned since October, not in testing for 1247 days, FTBFS, last upload was on
2004, etc, etc.
There's no reason why this package should be left on the archive.

It shouldn't matter actually. We've just cut xresprobe out of the xserver
postinst scripts, so this shouldn't be an issue. If it is an issue, he
should file a bug against his specific driver.

Looking at lh_binary, I now think resolv.conf is always taken from the
host system:

38
39  if [ "${LH_CHROOT_BUILD}" = "enabled" ]
40  then
41  # Configuring chroot

48  lh_chroot_sources install ${*}
49  fi
50
51  # Building root filesystem

maybe line 46 should be removed or moved after line 52 ?!

Bug#459672: aime: should this package be removed?

2008-01-07 Thread Raphael Geissert
Source: aime
Version: 0.60.3-7.3
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: proposed-removal

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

 * It FTBFS under two situations (kfreebsd and gcc-4.3)
 * It has a low popcon and the number of installations has never been over 25
according to popcon.
 * There's a new upstream release available (almost six years old)
 * Upstream seems to be dead
 * Uses the ancient standards version 3.6.1
 * It uses two very ancient autotools helper files

If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree, sending the following commands to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
should do it (after replacing nn with this bug's number):
severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
thanks

For more information, see
http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals
http://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other
issues.

Thank you,

when I installed Sunday evening from ftp://gd.tuwien.ac.at/
I noticed last = -3 for other arch and -2 for i386 .. STRANGE
now it is clear: upload was just in progress when I installed

in previous versions the font name was mentioned in helpsystem,
NOT in this version
should I file a bugreport against openoffice.org-help-de ??

who knows the font name?

investigation shows:
replacing "sarge" string by "oldstable" is a "feature" of reportbug-ng

reportbug-ng missed dependencies, I noticed and could not solve yesterday,

Just FYI, I added a schroot-mount tool to bin/schroot-mount.  It's
adapted from schroot-listmounts, and does not work yet (it's a
direct copy+search&replace), but will once I've added the
setmntent/getmntent bits.

Bug#459670: icedove: No way to set default view for all folders

2008-01-07 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: icedove
Version: 2.0.0.9-2
Severity: normal

I want to view almost all folders threaded, sorted by "Read", with a
few exceptions for folders better shown unthreaded. As far as I can
tell, no way exists to set the default view for all existing and new
folders. Thus, I have to set this view on all new and existing
folders.

Ideally, I'd like some way to set a default view, and then for each
folder I'd like an option for "inherit the default view", defaulting
to on.

Thank you,
Josh Triplett

I've binNMU'd gcc-4.2_4.2.2-5 on amd64 to get rid of the lib32gcc1

Bug#459669: gtk-engines: should this package be removed?

2008-01-07 Thread Raphael Geissert
Source: gtk-engines
Version: 0.12-8.1
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: proposed-removal

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

 * It has a RC bug (although it is still recent)
 * FTBFS under two situations which both provide a patch and are more than one
year old
 * last maintainer upload was on 2002
 * It is one, of the many, packages stalling libgtk1.2's removal
 * Uses the ancient standards version 3.5.2

If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree, sending the following commands to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
should do it (after replacing nn with this bug's number):
severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
thanks

For more information, see
http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals
http://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other
issues.

Thank you,

Thanks. The reason for this is due to a typo in the configuration
file:

> [sid32]
> run-exec-script=true
^ should be run-exec-scripts
> run-setup-scripts=true

The debug output confirms this:

> D(2): Getting keyfile group=sid32, key=run-setup-scripts
> D(1): value=1
> D(2): Getting keyfile group=sid32, key=run-session-scripts
> D(1): key not found
> D(2): Getting keyfile group=sid32, key=run-exec-scripts
> D(1): key not found

Key set for run-setup-scripts but not run-exec-scripts (the value is
false by default).

The reason misspelt keys are not flagged as errors is so that
forwards-compatibility may be maintained. It might be worth reviewing
that, and stopping with an error (or perhaps just a warning) if
invalid keys are found. I'll leave the bug open as a note to
implement this.

Regards,
Roger

onesixtyone is a simple SNMP scanner which sends SNMP requests for the

I eventually submitted upstream the patch I prepared soon after you
filed this bug:

Can you try the patch I submitted upstream and open a new Debian bug in
case this error persists, please?

Bug#459666: if a player nickname is longer then 8 chars, LAN server can't be started

2008-01-07 Thread Andrea Colangelo

Package: frozen-bubble
Version: 2.1.0-2
Severity: normal
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: origin-ubuntu hardy ubuntu-patch patch

By default the nickname (if none given) is truncated to 10 characters
(see sanitize_nick function). However, when creating a LAN server, the
prefix "lan-" is added. Thus if the username is longer than 10 (mine is
15) it gets truncated to 10 characters plus the 4 of the server prefix.
However, when creating a LAN server, you get an error because the server
name is longer than 12 characters.

The attached patch fixes this issue.

clamav-base. It does a fairly standard:
  if [ -z "$2" ]; then
if [ -z "`getent passwd clamav`" ]; then
  adduser --system --no-create-home \
--disabled-password --disabled-login \
--shell /bin/false --group --home /var/lib/clamav clamav
fi
chown clamav:clamav $DATABASEDIR
chown clamav:clamav $RUNDIR
chown clamav:clamav $LOGDIR

This can go wrong if you've removed the package but not purged it and
then delgroup'ed the group (if you purge the package, it removes both
user and group), or if even on a fresh install there is a user but no
group present. Both of those are so strange I didn't (and don't)
consider them hugely interesting cases to code around.

I just don't know how you've gotten that error. The only thing I can
think of is that you may have scripts for copying in accounts into the
chroot that fails to also copy in the groups?

Bug#459665: Can't index a windows file server in a way it can be used by IE and Moz

2008-01-07 Thread Gilles Mocellin
Package: mnogosearch-common

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

On an Etch system, I try to index a samba share.
I use this option :
Server file:/server/share/ file:///path/to/share/

The indexer record URL of this form :
file:///server/share/...

I can't have more than 3 "/" in the URL...

It is the only way to have both IE and Mozilla browsers to access an UNC file
share in Windows.

IE work with file://server/share but Moz can just handle local files with
that.

Bug#459664: host.conf: "multi on" appears to be default

2008-01-07 Thread Vincent McIntyre
Package: base-config
Version: 2.73
Severity: normal

Hi,
not sure what the severity is, please adjust to suit.

I was examining the /etc/host.conf file on some etch boxes.

host.conf(5) explains that
   multi Valid values are on and off. If set to on, the resolv+ library will
  return all valid addresses for a host that appears in the /etc/hosts
  file, instead of only the first.
  This is off by default, as it may cause a substantial performance
  loss at sites with large hosts files.

On examining all the hosts I have currently installed with etch, I found
all of them configured with "multi on"; this is the only line in the file.
I didn't set these files as far as I am aware, so this suggests the default
is actually "multi on".

Is the default set wrongly, or just incorrectly documented?

Kind Regards
Vince

NB: my install method is netinstall of a minimal system ("standard" in tasksel),
then add packages via a package list and apt-get dselect-upgrade.

No problem.

At this time I have neither the user nor the group, but when this error
happened I had only the user. I'm afraid I can't explain why. All I know
is:

  - This was a long-standing sid chroot.
  - It never had clamav installed before (that I can recall).
  - I did "sudo apt-get install clamav", which produced this error.

Which package is responsible for adding the group?

Bug#459621: bsd-mailx: missing /usr/bin/mail link

Joe Riel writes:

Many thanks for your input. I think I know what's happened. It seems
bsd-mailx was installed before old mailx package upgrade.
Installation of bsd-mailx changed /usr/bin/mail into a symlink, but the
subsequent mailx upgrade removed the file (since it existed in old
version of mailx, but not in the new one).

I'll fix the bug in next upload. For now please reinstall bsd-mailx
(apt-get install --reinstall bsd-mailx) to recreate the missing symlinks.

Best Regards,
robert

Bug#459663: Regression: scanimage / scanadf fail before scanning on Pixma MP780 since last upgrade

2008-01-07 Thread Vincent LAFAGE
Package: sane-utils
Version: 1.0.19~cvs20071213-1
Severity: important

I used to scan from the Gnome Desktop, through Gimp with either QuiteInsane,
XSane or xsaneimage.
It has recently been causing a complete failure of X11, abruptly killing the
session without scanning anything.
I then tried to reproduce the problem purely with command line interface, with
no more result (at least the session is not killed):

Bug#458015: "invalid group" error in postinst

Sorry about taking so long to get back to you - I was on vacation.

Whatis the output of `id clamav` on the affected system? It appears
that you have the user but not the group, which is a "should not happen"
kind of situation.

Bug#458010: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#458010: alsa-base: Alsa fails to find ES1988 soundcard, even though the kernel module snd_maestro3 is loaded.

Yes, you guessed right; it wasn't that important to me as I'm not using
the laptop for multimedia anyway. Sorry about that. But now I used an
hour to test it for the benefit of other N600c users, and by rebuilding
the modules from the source package it worked like you suggested and I
got sound:

---clip---
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aplay -l
 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: PCI [ESS Allegro PCI], device 0: Allegro [Allegro]
  Subdevices: 2/2
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
---clap---

However, I don't understand _why_ it worked, as the source and binary
packages were of the same version. Could you please give some insight
on that...

---clip---
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l alsa-base alsa-source

+++-==-==-
ii alsa-base 1.0.15-3 ALSA driver configuration files
ii  alsa-source1.0.15-3   ALSA driver sources
---clap---

Also, I now have two versions of the maestro3 module under
my /lib/modules/2.6.23-1-68/ dir, in
  o /lib/modules/2.6.23-1-686/kernel/sound/pci/snd-maestro3.ko
  o /lib/modules/2.6.23-1-686/updates/alsa/pci/snd-maestro3.ko
(as well as two versions of other sound modules). How does the system
know to load the correct versions? Is there some magic in the dirname
"updates" or what?

In conclusion: Because the maestro3 module, kernel and alsa seem to work
ok now, I'd presume that the only bug is in the binary package
dependencies. So my guess is that the 2.6.23 kernel package should
depend on recompiled alsa modules (new binary package, perhaps?) Is
that correct?

And finally, thanks for your help.

Regards,
Aapo

Bug#439742: Image

2008-01-07 Thread Tyler MacDonald
An Iguana? A real Indian? (That is, somebody from India?), a block of Ice?
Ivy? The possibilities are endless, and there's lots of free images on
wikimedia commons. Of course, we'd have to get someone to record a new sound
clip for it as well.

Cheers,
Tyler

Bug#459662: Please add "Should-Start: avahi"

Package: cupsys
Version: 1.3.5-1
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

cupsys-daemon init script should have a "Should-Start: avahi" (and
maybe a "Should-Stop" too) to be sure avahi is started before cupsys.
This makes cupsys mdns stuff actually working.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/173470

The postinst script of xcursor-themes is supposed to do that already. I
wonder what happened to your link. I just purged and reinstalled
xcursor-themes, it seems to work fine.
