Bug#470712: python-yenc: returned crc is flaky - signed integer problem
Package: python-yenc Version: 0.3+debian-2 Severity: important I noticed that the crc32 returned by yenc.encode() sometimes, odly, had a leading 'x'. A little source perusal showed the problem: the C function is converting the CRC to a python integer, which can be negative. Then the python wrapper uses hex() to convert it to a string, and trims the first two characters, which for a positive value will be 0x, but for a negative value will be -0, because hex() creates a value of the form -0x1234feed. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (900, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages python-yenc depends on: ii libc6 2.7-9 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii python2.4.4-6An interactive high-level object-o ii python-support0.7.7 automated rebuilding support for P python-yenc recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#470714: fvwm: please provide configurable mouse resistance at the edge of xinerama screens
Package: fvwm Version: 1:2.5.24-1 Severity: normal On multiple screens using xinerama (or otherwise), one typically has applications maximised or positioned near the edge of one screen. There is also typically a physical border between screens of several centimetres. It is not that easy to position the mouse on a window border to manipulate that window, if the mouse keeps on flicking over to the other screen as you're trying to finely position it. The physical seperation of the monitors screws with the hand-eye coordination, and limits the ability of the brain to servo the cursor into position. It would be quite nice if I could move the mouse quickly to the top left corner of a right hand screen, and have the mouse pause there -- just like the edge resistance of the edge of the viewport, before the mouse is released onto the next virtual page. This would be distance based pause, rather than a time based pause. It would be most ideal if such a hystersis was a configurable number of pixels, so the user could adjust the rough number of pixels that would be in that physical gap between their monitors. If on the right screen, you could flick the mouse to the left and aim for somewhere in that gap, and know that the mouse will stay on the edge of the right hand screen until you push the mouse over that barrier between the monitors: ~ 200 pixels ___ ___ | ___ || ___ | | | | || | | | | | screen1 | || | screen2 | | | | | || | | | | | | || | | | | |1024x768 | || |1024x768 | | | | | || | --- * mouse movement | |___| || |___| | |___||___| ^-- 200 pixel wide hysteresis for barrier Of course, it would need to be xinerama aware, and would want to cope with any arbitrary orientation of monitors and not get confused by dead gaps resulting from mismatched monitor sized. Coping with matched monitors would be a good first step though. Bug#470634: arno-iptables-firewall: Package does not load plugins anymore; multiroute plugin config file name incorrect
Hi Uwe, On Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 12:38:24PM +0100, Uwe Schindler wrote: Package: arno-iptables-firewall Version: 1.8.8.n-1 Severity: important The new version 1.8.8.n contains the following errors which are fixed upstream (1.8.8.o): * The package disables all plugins because it cannot find them anymore, so it is a securiry risk, if a user depends on a plugin enabled before installation. The errors lies in restructuring the plugins. The main file misses a variable $PLUGIN_BIN_PATH pointing in debian to /usr/share/arno-iptables-firewall/plugins. The old legacy $PLUGIN_PATH should be equal, but is not used by newer plugins anymore. * The multiroute plugin does not load because it cannot find its config file. In the header the filename should be mentioned, not the complete path. This leads to the fact that the path is two times in the sourced filename (one time from the wron defined variable, one time from the PLUGIN_CONF_PATH). All other plugins simply point to the filename. Both bugs are fixed upstream. The only difference to upstream is in debian, that the plugin directory is under /usr/share. This must be considered when modifying the script patches. Thanks for your report. I plan to update the package within the next few days. Bug#468327: [mp2] Perl 5.10 fixes from SVN cause SIGBUS on sparc

Unfortunately the ModPerl-Registry test suite is failing on the Sparc architecture because apache2 is killed by a bus error (SIGBUS). How about this s/U16/U32/ diff, basically keeping the flag type at U32, since it was not an essential part of the fix itself. No, that doesn't help either. It turns out the U16/U32 thing was a bad guess on my part. After some code staring and debugging, I found the real bug. It's not architecture-specific really, it just happens to bite worst on Sparc.
