Bug#485559: Re: consistent tftpboot directory location [RFC]

2008-06-09 Thread Franklin PIAT
Package: debian-policy
Severity: wishlist

[Opening a bug, as suggested on [EMAIL PROTECTED] . sorry for spamming]

Hello,

As I were writing an email about the consistency of tftpboot directory,
I fount a previous debian-policy thread[1] where it seemed that a
consensus were already met.
(If you wonder why I'm interested with this, see [2])

I've worked on the following policy snippet. As far as I am concerned, I
would rather make the default location compulsory, and probably drop
"tftp-get-root-location" then.

Here it is. Your comments/amendments are welcome :

--- START ---
11.12 Packages providing a tftp server

Packages that provides a tftp server (tftpd) which meets the criteria
listed below should declare in their control data that they provide the
virtual package tftp-server.

To be a tftp-server, a program must:

  * Provide a TFTP service compatible with RFC 783 and 1350.
  * Serve filenames relatively to the defined tftp-root, not
relatively to the system root directory (/).
  * Provide a program named "/usr/bin/tftp-get-root-location" which
returns the location of tftp root, as currently configured and
enabled by the system owner.

And it should :
  * Define /srv/tftp as the default tftp root directory.

Note : The tftp-server is not expected to follow/serve symbolic links (due to
chroot).
--- END ---

I have also attached a typical "tftp-get-root-location" script (for
tftpd-hpa, but it should be simple to adapt for other daemons).

To the package maintainer (who, IIRC, is a native speaker of German):
fixing that bug in a new upload would help the German l10n team in its

it doesn't quite say so explicitly, so I can see how it could be read
differently but quoting from the original reporter:

... then ask the tcsh package maintainer to do the same thing in
/etc/csh.login ...

I'd interpret that to mean that the proposal is only applical to shells
already reading /etc/profile, i.e. bourne-type shells, and other shells
needed similar changes.

in his first mail the submitter says:

... The issue here is: how do packages include/change information in the
user's environment without changing /etc/profile? Currently there is no
way...

In the submitters second mail the example he gives is setting up shell
aliases and then goes on to say:

... "special" package which customize the environment do to.
How can Debian provide any kind of environment customization without
this? ...

I hope the above explains why I read the bug the way I did, but I did read
it :)

Bug#480053: Switching b43 firmware

2008-06-09 Thread Ted Percival

Rene Engelhard wrote:

Nadav Kavalerchik wrote:

I could, but what will happen when the kernel gets upgrded from .24 to
.25? b43-fwcutter won't be upgraded. (although, hmm, that probably can
be solved with a trigger now and is not worse than now anyway..))

Or you install .25, install b43-fwcutter and for whatever reason revert
to testings .24 -> boom.

It sounds to me like it will require an init script to switch the
firmware files (if necessary) at boot time. This is what the nvidia-glx
package does for its TLS links. See debian/nvidia-glx.init.in in the
nvidia-graphics-drivers source package.

Bug#485558: update-manager: dies when lsb_release -i returns empty distributor

2008-06-09 Thread David Ayers
Package: update-manager
Version: 0.42.2ubuntu22-15
Severity: normal

I haven't been able to startup update-manager for a while I decided to finally
investigate a bit.
When starting from the command line I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gksudo update-manager
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-manager", line 70, in
app = UpdateManager(data_dir)
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py", line

dinfo = DistInfo (base_dir=datadir+"channels/")
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/UpdateManager/Common/DistInfo.py",
line 58, in __init__
dist_file = open (dist_fname)
IOError: [Errno 2] Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden:
'/usr/share/update-manager/channels//.info'

So I checked the source on where this failed:

...
if not dist:
pipe = os.popen("lsb_release -i | cut -d : -f 2-")
dist = pipe.read().strip()
pipe.close()
del pipe
...
dist_fname = "%s/%s.info" % (base_dir, dist)
dist_file = open (dist_fname)
...

Then I checked lsb_release:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -i
Distributor ID:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -a
LSB Version:
core-2.0-ia32:core-2.0-noarch:core-3.0-ia32:core-3.0-noarch:core-3.1-ia32:core-3.1-noarch:core-3.2-ia32:core-3.2-noarch:cxx-3.0-ia32:cxx-3.0-noarch:cxx-3.1-ia32:cxx-3.1-noarch:cxx-3.2-ia32:cxx-3.2-noarch:desktop-3.1-ia32:desktop-3.1-noarch:desktop-3.2-ia32:desktop-3.2-noarch:graphics-2.0-ia32:graphics-2.0-noarch:graphics-3.0-ia32:graphics-3.0-noarch:graphics-3.1-ia32:graphics-3.1-noarch:graphics-3.2-ia32:graphics-3.2-noarch:qt4-3.1-ia32:qt4-3.1-noarch
Distributor ID:
Description: Debian GNU/Linux testing (lenny)

So it /seems/ to actually be a bug in lsb_release but I think it would be great
if update-manager could gracefully handle the error.
(i.e. inform the user that the file it is searching for doesn't exist and it is
exiting, especially if update-manager is started from a panel.)

Cheers,
David

Thanks for the heads-up about this, and for your patch. I think
simply testing for the existence of /usr/bin/sv isn't enough to
presume the use of runit, unfortunately. But I noticed that the
supervise directories created/managed by runit's "runsv" contain pid
and stat, which aren't present in the supervise/ directories
controlled by daemontools' "supervise".

So I've committed changeset 97 to the resolvconf repo on alioth which
uses this distinction to guess which controller to use. It's not
clear to me if this change will make it into resolvconf 1.41 or not
(Marco, did you do a release yet?), but it will be in 1.42 for sure.

Thanks again for pointing out these changes, Alec.

Since the bug is merged with a large set of bugs I'm reluctant to close

Bug#485499: famd: Lots of "connect: Connection refused" messages from LTSP clients

[Chuan-kai Lin]
> I'll write a patch next week and send it to you, and then we'll try

A patch would be most welcome. I looked at the fam source to try to
figure out what could cause this message, and managed to track down
the problem. The issue was that the clients tried to contact famd on
the NFS server, and failed because famd on the NFS server was
configured to only accept connections from the local host. After
changing "local_only = true" to 'false' in /etc/fam.conf, the clients
stopped sending this message.

I would have been able to deduce this from the message if it included
which host and port it tried to connect, and why. For example a
message like this would have helped a lot:

connect(nfsserver, famport) as fam client: Connection refused

I already spotted a few regressions: https broken for sites with bad
certificate (I'm already working on that) and http auth broken.

Bug#485555: libstlport5.1-dev: Warnings when compiled with g++ 4.3

2008-06-09 Thread Norbert Kiesel
Package: libstlport5.1-dev
Version: 5.1.5-3
Severity: normal

Hi,

new g++ gives warnings about for loops w/o body and w/o a space before
the ;. I fixed the warnings I got when compiling my app and grepped for
a few more, but there might be more hidden (especially multi-line for
loops).

I hope you can apply the patch and/or send upstream.

Best,
  Norbert

No it's not. And I'm not sure having a daemon running and listening on
tcp port, even localhost, is really better.

In any case, it should warn the first time about hddtemp and setuid
stuff, but not after.

stay tuned,

Like oftc-hybrid, I intend to link this to OpenSSL. Since nobody

Bug#485043: This is brokenness from my ISP

2008-06-09 Thread Daniel Schepler
package mysql-dfsg-5.0
severity 485043 wishlist
thanks

It appears this bug is caused by a broken nameserver on my ISP: browsing to
http://non_existing_host/ redirects me to
http://ww23.rr.com/index.php?origURL=http://not_existing_host/ . It would
seem to be deliberate, so there's little to no chance of me getting it fixed.

On the other hand, querying something like not_existing_host.mysql.com gives a
proper address-not-found error.

I think it's sensible to not install gnupg setuid by default and have those

Bug#485552: reprepro: Patches for portability to AIX

2008-06-09 Thread Carey Evans
Package: reprepro
Version: 3.5.0
Tags: patch

This bug is not about the Debian packaging of reprepro, but about
compiling the upstream source on a non-Linux system.

For various reasons, I'm compiling reprepro for AIX 5.3 with GCC, to
use on IBM i5/OS V5R4 for a few hundred Debian PCs. I encountered a
handful of problems that needed changes, as listed below, and I'm
including a patch for most of them. Overall I'm very impressed with
the portability of the code.

- A number of the files use malloc() and free() without including
. The AIX C library is careful only to define these where
the various standards say they should be found. I haven't provided a
patch for this one.

- The last parameter for execl() should be (char*)NULL, not just NULL,
in case char* is a different size to whatever NULL resolves to. GCC
4.3 warns about this on AIX.

- AIX 5.3 doesn't provide O_NOFOLLOW. I most cases, this is combined
with O_EXCL which seems to be redundant, and I've removed it; in
donefile.c I've taken the potential security exposure and not used it.
You might wish to define it to 0 instead.

- AIX 5.3 doesn't have , but does get the BSD-ish
BYTE_ORDER, BIG_ENDIAN and LITTLE_ENDIAN macros if you include
 and/or . I haven't included a patch for
configure.ac, etc., to get them to detect HAVE_ENDIAN_H on Linux, but
it should be trivial. Alternatively, there's AC_C_BIGENDIAN.

- AIX 5.3 doesn't have vasnprintf (or dprintf). I've removed
vmprintf(), changed formaterror to use snprintf with a static buffer
that is much larger than anything it will have to hold, and changed
mprintf() and dprintf() to call vsnprintf twice, as shown in the GNU
libc manual. I figure that there's no point making dprintf() use
vasprintf(), because they're both GNU libc extensions.

- _D_EXACT_NAMELEN is a GNU extension. I just use strlen(r->d_name) if
it isn't defined.

- I don't check zlibCompileFlags() when using zlib 1.1, which is what
I have available.

- AIX doesn't have getopt_long, but I've compiled against libiberty from GCC.

- AIX GCC needs an option "-pthread" to compile and link threadsafe
code (like Berkeley DB), not -D_REENTRANT. I added this option to the
CFLAGS when running configure. I don't know how autoconf is supposed
to discover this.

Please let me know if you'd like any more information.

Unfortunately, my mailer doesn't properly support starting from a template
with headers, so I can't use it with reportbug. Here's the system

Yes, it appears you're right -- browsing to
http://default.neveranydomainlikethis/ redirects me to
http://ww23.rr.com/index.php?origURL=http://def.../ . That appears
deliberate, and if I complained to my ISP I'm sure they'd tell me it's a
feature not a bug :/

By the way, this nameserver does give proper not found replies for things like
nonexistent.perl.org.

Yes, it's sufficient just to replace xutils with xutils-dev in the

Bug#479752: don't return bogus diffs

2008-06-09 Thread Steve M. Robbins
Echoing and expanding on this, I do like the ISO date format better.
However, this change shouldn't cause all kinds of "bogus" diffs to
show up in "cvs diff"; i.e. things like:

diff -u -b -B -r1.9 param.h
--- StreamedWatershedSegmentation/ParameterFileParser/param.h 8 Dec 2005
18:20:47 - 1.9
+++ StreamedWatershedSegmentation/ParameterFileParser/param.h   10 Jun 2008

@@ -3,7 +3,7 @@
Program: Insight Segmentation & Registration Toolkit
   Module:$RCSfile: param.h,v $
   Language:  C++

   Version: $Revision: 1.9 $

Instead, this non-change should simply be suppressed. Clearly
CVS is parsing the date in order to change the format. I'd
suggest that these dates be simply compared as *dates* not
strings.

(In the meanwhile, I'll use the magic configuration.)

Thanks,
-Steve

Bug#485528: pci-sysfs resourceN files are not available on all architectures

2008-06-09 Thread Julien Cristau
Package: libpciaccess,linux-2.6
Severity: important

the pci_device_map_range() function from libpciaccess which is used by
the X drivers to map pci BARs is implemented on linux using sysfs
resourceN files, which the kernel only creates on architectures where
HAVE_PCI_MMAP is defined. This is not the case for alpha, parisc, mips
and m68k, as far as I can tell. See pci_create_resource_files() in
linux/drivers/pci/pci-sysfs.c, and the respective include/asm-*/pci.h
headers.

This means that future versions of X (starting with xorg-server 1.5) are
not going to work on these architectures unless this is fixed. We need
to either get the kernel fixed, or fall back to mmaping /dev/mem in
libpciaccess.

Cheers,
Julien

Thanks, Dustin. I'm holding off on integrating these patches until I
get 3.2-12 into testing; adding functionality would break the spirit
of the freeze, but I'll plan on getting status_of_proc() into unstable
soon after that migration happens (hopefully soon).

BTW, we may want to consider specifying this interface and the
enhanced init logging functions for a future iteration of the LSB
proper.

Thanks for clarifying and elaborating. I've come up with a patch for
Fl_Choice (the "combo box" widget) that works for zynaddsubfx. As for
minicomputer (version 1.2, downloaded from Sourceforge and built
locally), I see no display differences, with all text being at least
vaguely readable with either library version. (The "Multi" and
"Sound" values are blank until I adjust their dials, but that's true
even when running against 1.1.7-7.) Can you please give specific
instructions on how to reproduce the problem with minicomputer, and
which widgets I should be looking at?

Bug#485523: resolvconf: mistakes runit for daemontools in dnscache update script

2008-06-09 Thread Alec Berryman
Package: resolvconf
Version: 1.40
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The code for restarting dnscache in the script /etc/resolvconf/update.d/dnscache
guesses between runit and daemontools by looking at dnscache's parent
directory. It assumes runit when it sees this directory is /etc/service.
However, the current daemontools package in main is configured to use
/etc/service, too.

I don't know the best way to handle this, but I've attached a patch that works
for me: if the directory is /etc/service, and only one of the two programs
exits, use that one.

Of course, what you wish is a valid *wish*, no "normal" bug. And it's

No idea at all. There are two ways to track down the problem:

 1. You can do an ltrace on famd and look at the output.
 2. I can patch famd as you suggested.

I'll write a patch next week and send it to you, and then we'll try to
figure out what the problem is. How's that?

Bug#485518: moon-lander: program crashes on most calls to get_new_background()

2008-06-09 Thread Brian Wells
Package: moon-lander
Version: 1:1.0-3
Severity: important

get_new_background() in moon_lander.c fails to ignore . and .. when it
enumerates background image files with readdir(), instead assuming that
it will return only file names. As a result, it attempts to use the
parent directory .. as an ordinary image file, which causes the program
to crash on any system with readdir() that returns . and ..

The readdir(3) manpage does not say what it should do in this regard, so
it may be implementation-dependent -- but that shouldn't be relied upon
and it does crash on my system, unless modified with something like:

--- moon-lander-1.0/moon_lander.c

This solution has the side-effect of ignoring hidden files also, but I
don't think that is a problem since there are no hidden image files used
by this program and there seems to be no reason why any might be.

Bug#485515: /usr/bin/klipper: crashes when you have more options than what a menu can show

2008-06-09 Thread Pierre Habouzit
Package: klipper
Version: 4:4.0.74-1
Severity: important
File: /usr/bin/klipper
Tags: experimental

In KDE4, if you have many klipper history entries, then it goes all
mad when it has more than what fits on one screen, and if you click on
one of the many (WTF?) "More" entries, it crashes.

This is a severe regression that makes it barely usable for me.

This is quite likely a known issue listed in the errata [1] with the
version of syslinux in Etch. Could you try one of the alternative images
linked to from that page [2]?

Builds just fine here. Please use reportbug next time you're reporting a
bug, looking at an excerpt of your pbuilder log does not help at all.
Until you've provided the proper informations (the usual report bug
informations about your system + the full build log) I'm degrading the

Bug#485514: config files are not properly migrated over to new cups package

2008-06-09 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: cups
Version: 1.3.7-6
Severity: serious

After todays upgrade, cupsys, which is now only a transitional package,
pulled in the cups package.
The existing config files are not properly migrated though.

So now I have:
default/cups(ys)
init.d/cups(ys)
logrotate.d/cups(ys)
pam.d/cups(ys)
rc1.d/K80cups(ys)
rc2.d/S20cups(ys)
rc3.d/S20cups(ys)
rc4.d/S20cups(ys)
rc5.d/S20cups(ys)

This is a major issue, as now, not only log files are rotated twice, but
also the cupsd is attempted to be started twice.

The existing conffiles should be properly migrated from cupsys to cups
and the old start/stop symlinks should be removed (iirc there is no
proper way to migrate existing start/stop symlinks; think of file-rc vs.
sysv-rc).

This bug should definitely be fixed before it enters testing, so I'm
filing with severity serious.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#485513: ITP: smbind -- PHP-based tool for managing DNS zones for BIND

  Version : 0.4.7
  Upstream Author : Ole Myhre <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/smbind/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Php
Description : PHP-based tool for managing DNS zones for BIND

Smbind is a PHP-based tool for managing DNS zones for BIND via the web.
Supports per-user administration of zones,
error checking, and a PEAR DB database backend.
This tool will enable you to administer your bind-based DNS server
without having to touch your zone files with a text editor,
while also providing a redundant backup of the data stored in both a
PEAR DB database and in the normal text configuration files.
Since it is web-accessible, those without shell access or
command-line skills (or whom are just plain lazy) can enjoy DNS
administration from the comfort of a remote browser.

Bug#485512: libboost1.35-dev: boost::gil incompatible with g++-4.3 ?

2008-06-09 Thread Tim Day
Package: libboost1.35-dev
Version: 1.35.0-5
Severity: important

If I create the 2-line file giltest.cpp containing:
#include
#include

And compile it with
  g++-4.2 -c giltest.cpp
then there are no errors reported.

However
  g++-4.3 -c giltest.cpp
emits:
---
  In file included from
/usr/include/boost/gil/bit_aligned_pixel_iterator.hpp:28,
 from /usr/include/boost/gil/algorithm.hpp:27,
 from /usr/include/boost/gil/gil_all.hpp:27,
 from giltest.cpp:2:
/usr/include/boost/gil/bit_aligned_pixel_reference.hpp:160: error: declaration
of ‘const boost::gil::bit_range::bit_size, IsMutable>& boost::gil::bit_aligned_pixel_reference::bit_range() const’
/usr/include/boost/gil/bit_aligned_pixel_reference.hpp:46: error: changes
meaning of ‘bit_range’ from ‘class
boost::gil::bit_range::bit_size, IsMutable>’
---

With g++-4.2 it doesn't even need the typeinfo include, but that helps avoid
some other errors from the 4.3 compile to do with std::bad_cast.

Bug#485511: pioneers-console: maintainer scripts fail with dash as /bin/sh

2008-06-09 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Package: pioneers-console
Version: 0.12.2-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 10.4

I ran into a couple of problems with pioneer-console's maintainer
scripts, which evidently expect /bin/sh to be bash. For one thing,
the postinst's use of

test ! -r "$CONFFILE" || . "$CONFFILE"

fails if the configuration file contains no content (as it does by
default), as test's non-zero exit status ends up standing. I'd
suggest rewriting that as

if test -r "$CONFFILE"; then
. "$CONFFILE"
fi

which should be safe from such problems and only slightly more
verbose.

Anyway, once I got past that problem, I ran into another: the config
and postinst scripts both use the bashism "function x" rather than the
portable "x ()".

Could you please either fix your scripts to work under other shells
(posh, dash) or else explicitly run them under bash?

Thanks!

Actually, this is in the documentation and normally I refuse to answer
end-user questions on JtR via private e-mail - I insist that people
either ask via the john-users mailing list, where answers benefit the
community at large, or purchase support. ;-) But I'll make an exception
for the Debian package this time.

No, when no options are passed to "john", the word mangling is not the
last step. doc/EXAMPLES says:

"2. Now, let's assume you've got a password file, "mypasswd", and want to
crack it. The simplest way is to let John use its default order of
cracking modes:

john mypasswd

This will try "single crack" mode first, then use a wordlist with rules,
and finally go for "incremental" mode. Please refer to MODES for more
information on these modes."

Also, one of the answers in FAQ has this:

"... With no cracking mode requested
explicitly, John will start with "single crack" mode (pass 1), then
proceed with wordlist mode (pass 2), and finally with "incremental" mode
(pass 3). The pass numbers are reported on the status line, too."

Maybe this information should be in other places in the documentation as
well (in README or in OPTIONS?)

Yes, this is in fact the case. If you have multiple wordlists, it is
recommended that you combine them with "cat ... | unique NEW-FILE",
where "unique" is the included symlink to "john".

Thanks,

Alexander

Bug#485510: [sparc] Enabling FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_DETECT_PRIMARY

2008-06-09 Thread Frans Pop
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.25-4
Severity: wishlist

Sparc systems by default use the framebuffer and often have two video
cards, e.g. for my Ultra 10: a "standard" ATI and a "professional"
Creator 3D card.

Problem always has been detecting which card was "active". Getting it
right frequently required users disabling one or the other.

IIUC the FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_DETECT_PRIMARY config option was designed to
solve this problem and take the correct framebuffer based on firmware
settings.
However, I see that in current kernels this option is not enabled. Please
consider enabling it, at least for Sparc but possibly for other
architectures as well.

Cheers,
FJP

Package: virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.25-2-686
Version: 2.6.25+1.5.6-dfsg-1
Severity: important

Before starting a virtual machine Virtualbox checks the version of the vboxdrv
module.

The current version of Virtualbox in unstable is 1.6.2, but the module provided
in this package is for version 1.5.6. The version mismatch results in an error
message (see below) and Virtualbox fails to start the virtual machine.

Error message from Virtualbox:

The VirtualBox support driver which is running is from a different version of
VirtualBox. You can correct this by stopping all running instances of
VirtualBox and reinstalling the software..

It would be quite a good thing to have the mol modules integrated on the
mainline kernel from kernel.org, as we already have many emulation
things there already (uml, kvm, lguest, xen etc).

On the other hand, mol may be rejected for exactly this reason, if we
don't argue well enough about what would make mol have a differential.
Perhaps preparing a text and having it reviewed by enough people would

I don't know very much about kernel hacking, but I have some books about
the Linux kernel development. It may, perhaps, be the right time to get
the dust off of them.

Which other version hangs? Which one doesn't? That is, at which point
things have stopped working?

And one thing: why are the mol drivers for MacOS X in non-free while the
ones for MacOS are in main?

I think that I seem to recall that Benjaming H once told us that he
didn't understand why this was sorted this way, because the drivers were
developed in a similar fashion...

>This segfault was also reported on the upstream mailinglist. AFAIK

By segfault I think that you may be referring to the userspace thing,
right?

I used to use mol just for the sake of using iTunes, but since I have
discovered some quite good audio players for Linux and the excellent
easytag, I have little use for it.

And, furthermore, Apple has no love for G3 owners anymore (and even some
G4 of lower frequency). I would, then, use an older version of MacOS X
just as a way of getting some things syncronized to my iPod (like their
proprietary firmware upgrade thing).

I think that I can lend a hand here, but I'm currently not sure of how
much help I can be.

BTW, since you mentioned the release, it seems that the page
http://wiki.debian.org/powerpcLennyReleaseRecertification is desperately
in need of some update by some regulars here and developers that care
about powerpc.

Hi,

packages should not in general ask the user for feedback in bug scripts.
This is both disruptive to the user and hard to support by graphical
frontends.

Please consider using a warning in the presubj instead, the user can
then review the included stuff in their editor.

thanks,

Hi,

Sorry to report a known problem but I think it's important.

Using postgresql 8.3, you get the following erro while installing a new
database :

This is related to some missing explicit casting.

The problem is described and solved here :
http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-bugs/2008-01/msg1.php . It is solved
upstream, see :
http://tinyforge.org/tracker/?group_id=13&atid=129&func=detail&aid=610 .

I don't know if it's possible to patch this version too.

Bug#485503: libopencascade6.2: More data files needed under /usr/share/opencascade

2008-06-09 Thread denis31.barbier
Package: libopencascade6.2
Version: 6.2-3
Severity: normal

Hi Adam,

DRAWEXE needs some resource files to be operational, I had these lines
in my experimental debian/rules:
  install -m 0755 -d
$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/share/opencascade6.1/src/DrawResources
  install -m 0644 ros/src/DrawResources/*.tcl
$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/share/opencascade6.1/src/DrawResources
  install -m 0644 ros/src/DrawResources/DrawDefault
$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/share/opencascade6.1/src/DrawResources
  install -m 0644 ros/src/DrawResources/DrawPlugin
$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/share/opencascade6.1/src/DrawResources

BTW ros/env.ksh defines environment variables which points to other src/ files,
it is likely that files and directories referenced by those CSF_* environment
variables are useful too.

Bug#485502: slash: Two Data Sanitization Security Issues

2008-06-09 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: slash
Severity: critical
Version: 2.2.6-8

Just came in over slashcode-general:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=0908616B-1316-426C-95EA-CA0665730492%40slashdot.org&forum_name=slashcode-general

Will prepare an update for at least Etch which will fix this _and_ the
two earlier issues discussed in #484499 and RT#485.

Bug#485499: famd: Lots of "connect: Connection refused" messages from LTSP clients

2008-06-09 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: fam
Version: 2.7.0-12

On a lab with several LTSP based diskless workstation clients, I see a
lot of messages like this in the syslog:

  famd[5807]: connect: Connection refused

The message do not explain what the problem is. Please change it to
include more information about the failed connect, for example
addresses involved and the port number, to have a chance to figure out
what is causing such messages when reading the syslog.

Any idea what the problem is?

I suspect it might be related to the content of /etc/hosts, where the
localhost name is mapped to 127.0.0.1, while the hostname (ltsp) is
mapped to 127.0.0.2, but this is pure speculation.

Happy hacking,

Bug#485500: doesn't set default dictionary

2008-06-09 Thread Per Olofsson
Package: hunspell
Version: 1.2.2-2
Severity: normal

Executing hunspell yields:

$ hunspell
Can't open affix or dictionary files.

But it works given a dictionary:

$ hunspell -d en_US
Hunspell 1.2.2

I think hunspell should have its default dictionary set via maintainer
scripts, as is done for ispell. Maybe with a debconf prompt, too.

Bug#485498: libopencascade6.2: Files shipped under /usr/share/opencascade will cause conflicts

2008-06-09 Thread denis31.barbier
Package: libopencascade6.2
Version: 6.2-3
Severity: normal

Files shipped under /usr/share/opencascade/ in libopencascade6.2 will conflict
with newer libopencascadeX.Y packages, they should have been put under
/usr/share/opencascade/6.2/ or /usr/share/opencascade-6.2/. (Or maybe into
a different package?)

Bug#485497: disabled fine print on man page

2008-06-09 Thread jidanni
Package: pngcrush
Version: 1.6.4-5

$ history|tail
 4156 pngcrush -c 0 -cc /home/jidanni/Untitled.png /tmp/k.png
 4157 xli /tmp/k.png
 4158 pngcrush -cc /tmp/k.png|wc -c
 4159 pngcrush -cc /tmp/k.png > /tmp/mismatch.png
$ xli /tmp/mismatch.png
/tmp/mismatch.png: unknown or unsupported image type

Why is that? Because /tmp/mismatch.png is not a PNG at all. It is
pngcrush's usage message.

That's right, not a word to stderr.

And why was there an error? Because I used -cc. Which in fact is not
in the usage message.

But it is on the man page.

With the fine print after it that it is disabled.

Please remove disabled items from the man page, or put the fine print
up front at the beginning of the items.

This is a two part bug. First, the kernel has to be built with
CONFIG_CIFS_EXPERIMENTAL and CONFIG_CIFS_UPCALL in order to do Kerberos
authentication. Second, cifs.spnego needs to be packaged somewhere so that
the kernel has something to call up to.

The latter part of this should soon be fixed in experimental.

Bug#473178: python-xmpp update?

I could check it only today, sorry.

I'm going to change the version from 0.4.1-cvs20080505.1 0.4.1-1
+cvs20080505 so that a 0.4.1-2 will be considered newer.

If noone sees any problem I'm going to upload it tomorrow.
