Looks like we both did the former at the same time. :)

Yup, this is a good point. I've changed the implementation that I
committed to match.

A pure filename match on the fonts I think is only certainty: possible. I
made that adjustment after committing.

Bug#513608: ITP: avl -- Analyser for the aerodynamic and flight-dynamic of rigid aircraft.

2009-01-30 Thread Loïc Fejoz
Hi all,

The debian part of the package is already done. You can have a look at
it on this bazaar branch
https://code.launchpad.net/~aeromodelling-maintainers/aeromodelling-project/debian-branch

We will test the package soon and add it to alioth and propose it to
upload in few days...

Note that, we (aeromodelling-maintainers) also want to propose CRRCSim
(which is the reason for AVL) and Java Foil.

So please wait a little bit...

Bug#513668: fluxbox: Fullscreen command undocumented in fluxbox-keys(5) manpage

2009-01-30 Thread Andrew Deason
Package: fluxbox
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: normal

The fluxbox-keys(5) manpage makes no mention of a command to fullscreen
a window, but putting

Mod4 F11 :Fullscreen

in my ~/.fluxbox/keys allows me to make a window fullscreen with
Mod4-F11. This can be a rather useful command; it maximizes the window
while also turning off all window decorations, tabs, etc and seems to
raise it to a rather high layer.

Do you know how to turn on the PCI SIMM from Office?

The point is that from the folder within Windows 5000 you neither can ever
forward to the application of a cache, nor should insert a URL over a space
bar on the code for telnetting to a shell.

Please note that this patch will interfere with a full review of
debconf templates, and need translation updates, while a complete
translation update round is right now in progress.

I highly suggest that the patch is applied *after* that debconf review
round *and* that the new templates are reviewed on debian-l10n-english
*and* a call or translation updates is issued at the end of the review.

Again, the point is not dropping the proposed enhancements (which I
have no advice about, not being the maintainer: I just coordinate the
review/translation process) but suggesting they are not done now to
avoid confusion.

It's the SOAP interface; Perl tries to auto-guess what type things you
send over it are, and screws up in the case of year-month (basically,
anything that matches \d{4}-\d{2} is a Year-Month). Ruby is silly, and
explodes if it's not actually a valid date.

The fix is basically killing off the auto-guessing, since everything
that the BTS sends out is a string or a number; there are no dates.
[Well, I lie slightly; there are epochs, but these are
indistinguishable from numbers.]

Bug#513644: request for the creation of 'bts-link' pseudo-package

I'd be down to create it, but I think that at some point in the future
you'd all like to create a real live bts-link package to distribute
alongside debbugs for people who run debbugs. [At least, I hope that's
a future goal.] I

Psuedopackages do not transition to real packages elegantly. [At
least, I think they don't.] (It's probably ok to shove a bts-link
package into experimental for just this purpose.)

That said, assuming bts-link actually becomes integrated into b.d.o, I
wouldn't be averse to you all having bugs that affect bts-link
assigned to the bugs.debian.org pseudopackage, so long as you usertag
them appropriately to segregate them out. [In fact, having bugs
assigned to some pseudopackage in the BTS (general or b.d.o) is a
necessary precondition to creating a specific psuedopackage anyway; I
need to see a set of bugs which have been filed to know that it's
worth stepping into the package namespace.]

Bug#513663: [general] need infrastructure to check related packages

2009-01-30 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: lintian
Version: 2.2.0
Severity: wishlist

Lintian currently checks source packages and binary packages in isolation,
except for a few fragile hacks. However, overwhelmingly Lintian is run in
one of two ways: on a *.changes file, from which the source package and all
binary packages built from it are available, or across the entire archive.

There have been multiple requests that require cross-package checks within
the packages built from the same source package, either between binary
packages or between the binary package and the source package. Examples
include:

#120323 -- avoid false positives on man pages provided by dependencies
#217023 -- check for dangling symlinks
#513544 -- avoid false positive if upstream ships an empty changelog

When processing a *.changes file, I think it would be reasonable to set up
the lab for all of the packages being processed before running any check
scripts. The check scripts could then rely on being able to peek at the
labs for all packages generated from the same source package.

lintian.d.o is harder. Currently, all source packages are checked first
and then left unpacked to level one. Then, all binary packages are
checked. This means the source package is always available while checking
the binary packages, but all the binary packages may not be available.

One option would be to unpack all binary packages to level one before
doing any checks, but this requires redoing the unpack work again to get
a level two unpack when actually checking it, making an archive-wide run
much slower.

The best option is probably to add additional smarts to Lintian's
processing and chase references between the packages so that, before
processing a binary package, Lintian ensures that all binary packages
from the same source package are also unpacked in the lab. I think the
best way to do that would be to more closely simulate the processing
order Lintian uses when processing *.changes files. Rather than processing
all binary packages one at a time, process them in groups by source
package, unpacking them all, running all checks, and then resetting the
lab to level one.

This bug will track the infrastructure work required to implement this
so that other bugs can block on this bug.

I don't currently have time to do this implementation. If anyone else
wants to tackle it, it would be a great project.

I definitely agree that this is a good idea. I've added instructions for
those tags and went through the rest of shared-libs. I think it's best to
deal with these on a case-by-case basis (unless anyone feels like doing a
comprehensive audit of all of our tag descriptions, but there are 770
tags), so please open a bug whenever you see a tag where the existing
details aren't sufficient.

heartbeat relies on lsb compliant scripts to determine the health of the node
its running on. If an already running service errors when requsting to start
the service, it may determine the health of that service unusable. Same goes
when it's already stopped and a stop request is run.

That wants to uninstall console-tools. Poking around in
aptitude I see two versions listed under the kbd tab---
1.12.17 and kbd-compat 1:0.2.3dbs-65 so I installed kbd-compat,
and restarted /etc/init.d/console-screen.sh and
/etc/init.d/keymap.sh. That has the same effect as when I
modified cf.map.gz as described in the bug report: it fixes
the OPM characters in caps-lock mode, but the altgr symbols
now appear as solid white blocks.

Did you really mean for me to try the kbd package, thus
auto uninstalling the console-tools package?

Thanks.

Yup; that'll be caught and give an error though. I presume the most
likely use will be either redirecting all requests -- in which case
synchronisation isn't an issue; or redirecting pool/ but not dists/ -- in
which case 404s are the only risk, I can see, and seems reasonably minor.

Yup, that matches my understanding.

Bug#513651: No sound with Iceape and Flashplugin

2009-01-30 Thread Michelle Konzack
Package: libflash-mozplugin
Version: 0.4.13-8
Severity: normal

Hello Maintainer,

I have recently RE-Installed my Workstation under Etch and now my Flash
plugin is not more working (Sound). While searching the Web several
days and trying many solutions all has failed.

Since I need it for my Business, do you know, how I can get sound
running again?

I have ALSA installed with two Cards:

1)
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237
AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60)
00:11.6 Communication controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. AC'97 Modem Controller
(rev 80)

No sound but
wmmixer -w --mix-device /dev/mixer
is working but no sound.
(can it be that Flash is using this device?)

2)
00:13.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 0a)
00:13.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live! Game Port (rev 0a)

No sound but
wmmixer -w --mix-device /dev/mixer1
is working with Xmms.

However, I have to use rplay, but it refuse to work with ALSA.

OK, now I see what's happened. The correct fix for #374644 is in sid,
but not in lenny. Because the new version of xine-ui in sid changed
library dependencies, it could not propagate to lenny and I had to
upload separately to testing-proposed-updates. I mistakenly uploaded an
earlier version of the changes which has this bug. I will upload a new
version to t-p-u.

Ben.

Bug#489436: pulseaudio: Says realtime not permitted even though I am in pulse-rt

2009-01-30 Thread Roderik Muit

FYI:

For me, the messages saying that rt didn't succeed, stopped after I
added the proper permissions for the rt-pulse (& audio) group in
/etc/security/limits.conf.

To be exact, I added the following, (I don't know the details, I just
got it from

http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/multimedia/400774-pulseaudio-cant-get-realtime-high-priority-permissions.html)

@audio  -   rtprio  99
@audio  -   nice-20
@audio  -   memlock 400
@pulse-rt   -   rtprio  99
@pulse-rt   -   nice-20

After I did this and logged out and back in again, PulseAudio stopped
complaining. (And I reloaded all my kernel sound modules. I don't know
if that would be necessary in other peoples' case.)

-

I think that might help you.

That wasn't the only thing I did, though. I first upgraded to 0.9.13-2
== experimental. So I'm not _sure_ if it will help 0.9.10, though I
guess so.

The total of what I did is:

* upgrade to 0.9.13-2 (and dependencies in unstable, which include new
alsa lib)

- the error messages from pulseaudio changed in this version, to the
more precise:

I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE.
I: caps.c: Dropping root priviliges.
I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE.
W: main.c: RLIMIT_RTPRIO failed: Operation not permitted
...which led me to above URL

* edit /etc/security/limits.conf
* log myself out
* modprobe -r snd-*
* modprobe snd_MYSOUNDCARD
* start pulseaudio again

I am getting a different error message now, but that may not be the same
and relates to my own kernel. At least the _permissions_ problem is gone.
N: module-alsa-source.c: Disabling timer-based scheduling because
high-resolution timers are not available from the kernel.

W: core-util.c: pthread_setschedparam(): Operation not permitted

Bug#513650: lintian: pedantic: check for fonts in non-font package

2009-01-30 Thread Paul Wise
Package: lintian
Severity: wishlist

Please check for *.ttf & *.otf fonts in packages not named ttf-* and
otf-*. These fonts should be generally be packaged separately and
depended on because they are usually useful outside the package that
embeds them (often they are decorative fonts, which are even more
useful). The check should ignore symlinks because some software just
loads a font filename instead of using fontconfig and symlinks are the
easiest way to make them work.

The name picks up most duplicates but IIRC there are a few where the
font file has been renamed but not edited.

Other fonts are also duplicated but vera/dejavu/freefont seem to be the
main ones.

Check out the pkg-fonts review for details:

http://pkg-fonts.alioth.debian.org/review/

The scripts for that are available here:

svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-fonts/people/yosch

This file contains a list of fonts, their packages, filenames, MD5, SHA1
and a bit more info:

http://pkg-fonts.alioth.debian.org/review/debian-font-review.txt

Another idea would be to extract the font family name from the font and
match that against a few common ones. That would catch this file for
example:

http://pkg-fonts.alioth.debian.org/review/fnt-a3fd83916c8181623cee1e0d125b180f.html

Which seems to be an older version of this:

http://pkg-fonts.alioth.debian.org/review/fnt-7afbbe2980cde2d87d692600fe28869a.html

Another example of that:

I sympathise, but the definition is:

grave
makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes
data loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the
accounts of users who use the package.

I think that this bug is:

important
a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package,
without rendering it completely unusable to everyone.

but it's up to the maintainer to decide.

I added signal(SIGCHLD, SIG_IGN) which should make that unnecessary.

Also, the change I actually made to xine-ui *does* include a loop to
close fds 3-255 (sadly there is no easy way to find out what the last
open fd is). So unless xine is opening a *huge* number of files I can't
understand this bug.

Please could you run "ls -l /proc/$pid/fd/" for the pid of the
xdg-screensaver process when this bug is triggered?

Which version of xdg-utils do you have installed? There was a bug in
that which could result in zombie processes, but I fixed that before
making this change.

Ah, of course. Good catch!

Maybe we should introduce checks/build for all checks that try to analyze
the upstream build system? A fix for #472219 would fit in there as well,
and if we wanted to, we could move the config.guess/config.sub/libtool
stuff to that check as well. It only sort of belongs in cruft; it's
different than what the rest of that check does.

Actually, I'm not sure if checks/rules is the best place for it, as it needs
information that would make it part of checks/cruft, but doesn't completely
fit in there either. Maybe some sort of checks/testsuite? I don't feel

diff -ru foo-1.2.3.orig/ foo-1.2.3/

(where foo-1.2.3 contains you changes). I applied this by hand now and will

Steve: Context was that I am trying to make Ra (i.e. r-base-core-ra in
Debian) a little 'lighter' by not installing all the help files etc. Or do
you on the other hand recommend that I do? It seemed like a good idea at the
time as most (all ?) of these are not patched anyway, so why double them...

Dirk

Here's[2] another reference as to what mysql_real_escape_string does.
On a side note, while the conclusion in [1] "partially" true, it
misses the part of real input encoding, which can actually become a

Yes it is. XSS attacks can be deployed via the Referer header because of the
lack of input sanitation. The anti-XSS techniques it uses are far away from
being perfect as it basically assumes that XSS attacks can only be performed
when < or > exist.
It also appears to make attempts to handle utf8, which means that the usual
encoding attacks could be deployed (leading to SQL injections or XSS
attacks).
phpCAS is embedded which has its own set of vulnerabilities as well.

There are plenty of them which can be combined with multibyte attacks to be

Bug#513645: vpnc: Please remove 'IKE Authmode hybrid' lines from example configs

2009-01-30 Thread Michael Howe
Package: vpnc
Version: 0.5.1r334-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

The sample vpnc scripts in /usr/share/doc/vpnc/examples and /etc/vpnc
both contain the line:

IKE Authmode hybrid

However, according to
, hybrid mode
is disabled, thus, copying the file and editing it does not lead to a
working configuration.
Removing the line (or replacing it with one of the other possible auth
modes - not knowing much about vpnc I don't know which is preferable)
would give more users an example that would work. Certainly, I can
confirm that having no Authmode line allows vpnc to connect to the
Oxford University VPN server.

Cheers,

Michael

  Description : Open-Source PHP Web Framework

Symfony is a full-stack framework, a library of cohesive classes written in
PHP5.

It provides an architecture, components and tools for developers to build
complex web applications faster. Choosing symfony allows you to release your
applications earlier, host and scale them without problem, and maintain them
over time with no surprise.

Symfony is based on experience. It does not reinvent the wheel: it uses most of
the best practices of web development and integrates some great third-party
libraries.

I tried the other system and there were no problems. So I think it's
fixed too. Thank you very much.

So what component did you fix to get things working?

Those icon's are just the fallback in {hi,lo}color/gnom if no other
theme overrides them. Patch that adds the necessary links attached.

Bug#512255: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64: #512255 - iwl3945 works well using compat-wireless-old_2009-01-27

2009-01-30 Thread Alberto
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.26-13
Followup-For: Bug #512255

I tried to compile compat-wireless-old_2009-01-29 (latest version available
here
http://www.orbit-lab.org/kernel/compat-wireless-2.6/2009/01/) and now the button
(RF_kill wireless intel 3945) works well and there are no more kernel oops.

However in the kernel log (dmesg) these lines are still present, instead of
Ubuntu 8.04 (linux 2.6.24).
| atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xd6 on isa0060/serio0).
| atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e056 ' to make it known.
| atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xd6 on isa0060/serio0).
| atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e056 ' to make it known.

So:
- linux 2.6.24 (Hardy): no problems
- linux 2.6.26 (Lenny): problems + kernel oops
- linux 2.6.26 (Lenny) + latest compat wireless: no problems

If you think it could be useful I can try to compiler linux 2.6.26 vanilla using
/boot/config-2.6.26-1-amd64 configuration to see if this problem related to a
particular Debian customization.

Please tell me what else I have to do help you in solving this bug in lenny.

Bug#513643: systemsettings: Missing dependency?

2009-01-30 Thread Torquil Macdonald Sørensen
Package: systemsettings
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: normal

Maybe the systemsettings package is missing a dependency? After installing
ktorrent
and systemsetting from experimental (and therefore everything they depend on),
systemsettings doesn't show any configuration itens when I start it, only a
window
with a grey area. In the terminal, I get the message:

t...@tmac ~$ systemsettings
systemsettings(6772)/kdecore (trader) KServiceTypeTrader::defaultOffers:
KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType  "SystemSettingsCategory"  not found
findServiceByDesktopPath:  not found
systemsettings(6772) MainWindow::readMenu: "" Looking for children in ' "" '

I needed to install systemsettings because ktorrent uses the KDE file
associations,
and those had to be modified. I did not want anything else from KDE, apart from
what those two packages depend on of course.

Best regards
Torquil Sørensen

The three attached patches apply to files in

/r-base-core-ra-1.2.4/src/library/utils/R

Poking around in the R code for help(), example(), and help.search(),
when lib.loc is NULL, it is ultimately changed to the output of
.libPaths(), which causes Ra trouble because the help files in the core
libraries are not built. So, in each case, when lib.loc is NULL, we
change it to the output of .libPaths() earlier and then exclude the
directory where the core libraries live.

Does this feature / bug afflict other platforms? If so, the patches
should still work, but I only tested them under Debian. E.g.

?matrix
example(matrix)
library(jit)
?jit
example(jit)
help.search("jit")

are all now working correctly under Ra with these three patches.

Thanks,
Ben

Bug#513641: wget: --follow-tags not following

2009-01-30 Thread Tong Sun
Package: wget
Version: 1.11.4-2
Severity: minor

Hi,

I found that I can't make wget --follow-tags to work when using the
--no-clobber option.

First of all, all that I want is to download all images from an
*downloaded* html file, and then "convert-links" locally. Believing
that --no-clobber is all what I need:

,-
| ... when -nc is specified, files with the suffixes .html or .htm
| will be loaded from the local disk and parsed as if they had been
| retrieved from the Web.
`-

so I tried,

  curl http://www.cnn.com/ -o test.htm
  wget --no-directories --no-clobber --convert-links --follow-tags=img
http://localhost/test.htm

Thinking that wget will load the test.htm as if it had been
retrieved from the web, parse it, then follow and download all the
img tags. However it didn't work (see below). Why is that?
(Note that if I substitute the --follow-tags option with
--page-requisites, at least I'm getting something).

PS.

- If not using --no-clobber, but --force-html --input-file=test.htm,
  the --follow-tags=img, works fine, but --convert-links did not do
  anything, but I want the img links to be converted locally.

- is there better way for wget to load local files instead of using
  the fake http://localhost/...?

- is it possible not to use --span-hosts for this case?

Thanks

Tong

Hmm I need to compile a binary that is not stripped...

Hmm that seems strange.

I have uploaded a new version to unstable now. Please try that as
it could be fixed by that fix. Not very likely but it could be so.

Bug#513639: compiz-core: compiz should not try to read /var/log/Xorg.0.log

2009-01-30 Thread Neil
Package: compiz-core
Version: 0.7.6-7
Severity: important

compiz fails to start because it cannot read /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

$compiz --replace &

aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

For increased security I'm running with umask 077, which means
/var/log/Xorg.0.log is not read writable by normal users.

$ ls -l Xorg.0.log
-rw--- 1 root root 27106 Jan 30 22:42 Xorg.0.log

The script /usr/bin/compiz assumes /var/log/Xorg.0.log to be readable by
normal users in the function running_under_whitelisted_driver() on line 247.
Changing the permissions for Xorg.0.log fixes the problem. To avoid having
to do this every time I startx, I added a "return 0" at line 260 to skip
this check. This is only a bodge. Presumably another method should be used
to acquire the driver name to check for whitelisting.

Bug#513638: wget: --follow-tags not following

Thanks

Tong

Most complete ITPs just copy a draft of the long description verbatim.
The Developer's Reference recommends that the second paragraph of a
long description describe why a tool is preferable to others. [0]

It would certainly be nice if people expand on this even more when
they give ITPs (For instance, when I submitted an ITP for another
Scheme interpreter I described why it was preferred.)

Bug#513635: nscd: uses 100% CPU

2009-01-30 Thread Nicolas Boullis
Package: nscd
Version: 2.7-18
Severity: important

Hi,

I just upgraded nscd from version 2.3.6.ds1-13etch8 to 2.7-18 and it
started using 100% CPU. In fact it starts using 100% CPU a few seconds
after it was started.

I tried to run it in debug mode (nscd -d), and it also starts using 100%
CPU after a few seconds, without logging any activity. Note that is
answers questions anyway, and log its activity fine.

Running top with threads shown shows several nscd threads that use
together 100% CPU:
 4335 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 11.2  0.2   0:19.02 nscd
 4338 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 11.2  0.2   0:03.04 nscd
 4339 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 11.2  0.2   0:43.08 nscd
 4332 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   1:12.14 nscd
 4333 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   1:12.18 nscd
 4334 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   1:17.18 nscd
 4336 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   0:26.56 nscd
 4337 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   0:44.26 nscd
 4381 root  20   0  112m 2272 1716 R 10.6  0.2   0:00.88 nscd

(The number of crazy nscd threads keeps increasing with time.)

This finally makes my system unusable while nscd is running, so I have
to stop it.

This would certainly deserve grave severity if it affected everyone, but
I can't believe it does and nobody reported the proble earlier. Hence,
there must be something specific to my system. The problem might for
example be powerpc-specific...

FWIW, whenever I start it in debug mode, it first prints:
4244: invalid persistent database file "/var/cache/nscd/passwd": file size does
not match
4244: invalid persistent database file "/var/cache/nscd/group": file size does
not match
4244: invalid persistent database file "/var/cache/nscd/services": file size
does not match

If I remove those cache files, it does not print this, but does again
the next time I start it.

Cheers,

Nicolas

The reason seems to be that nbd-server uses atol() which does not handle
such large numbers.

It should use atoll() instead.

$ gcc-e 'printf("0x%016lx\n", atol("3000614518784"));'
0x7fff
$ gcc-e 'printf("0x%016llx\n", atoll("3000614518784"));'

Fine then, the goal is that it can also Provide: nscd so that we're done
with it for good.

Thanks for the quick reply. This should make evince show the wanted
information most of the time.

However, an option to switch between thumbnails and index quickly
would be useful for people who have files that do not work with the
default.

You have to click a dropdown, and select an option. No shortcut for that.

Neither can you make the other behaviour the default (which is
certainly not needed unless you are viewing many broken files - or
searching for a particular figure in several PDFs).

Thanks

Michal

Bug#513634: postinst script doesn't update /etc/default/mailgraph

2009-01-30 Thread Pascal Volk
Package: mailgraph
Version: 1.14-1.2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

After executing `dpkg-reconfigure mailgraph` the configuration in
/etc/default/mailgraph isn't updated. Before dpkg-reconfigure:

# cat /etc/default/mailgraph && debconf-show mailgraph
BOOT_START=true
MAIL_LOG=/var/log/mail.log
IGNORE_LOCALHOST=true
* mailgraph/ignore_localhost: true
* mailgraph/mail_log: /var/log/mail.log
* mailgraph/start_on_boot: true

After dpkg-reconfigure:

# cat /etc/default/mailgraph && debconf-show mailgraph
BOOT_START=true
MAIL_LOG=/var/log/mail.log
IGNORE_LOCALHOST=true
* mailgraph/ignore_localhost: true
* mailgraph/mail_log: /dev/random
* mailgraph/start_on_boot: false

I wrote a postinst script and tested it. It works for me, see
mailgraph-1.14_postinst.patch.
I hope this will solve #283664 and #337923 too.
This modification also allows to use an ADDITIONAL_OPTIONS variable in
/etc/default/mailgraph, for example `--rbl-is-spam'. OK, this change requires
a small adjustment to the init script, see
mailgraph-1.14_init_additional_options.patch.
This feature is desired in bug reports #285980 and #311437

Last point/patch: The text from the template `mailgraph/ignore_localhost' was
a little bit confusing me. Maybe the text from mailgraph-1.14_templates.patch
is better to understand.

Regards,
Pascal

Bug#464444: Adopting the megahal package?

2009-01-30 Thread Ralf Treinen
Hi,

you announced on February, 14, 2008 that you wanted to adopt the megahal
package.
Are you still planning to do so? There are open bugs that seem to be easy to
fix,
so I might do a QA upload soon.

Bug#512839: Depends on what you use xine for

2009-01-30 Thread garkein
Ben,
I understand that you don't agree with the bug being grave. The point is
that I use it mainly for watching TV.
This is practically not possible anymore now since the VDR playback
breaks on every channel switch due to xdg-screensaver hogging the audio
handle. For that usage it is definately a grave bug because it rendered
my main application useless.
I know this may not affect all users, but I also find it a bit harsh to
say a bug is clearly not grave just because one is mainly using a xine
plugin that has been effectively broken now.

Just as a remark regarding your intended fix: I haven't yet seen the
place where xine does a wait() or waitpid() for those forked childs to
clean up the zombies. If there is a place, ok, I just havn't seen it
yet.

If I startup the XVDR plugin, I see three pid's of xdg-screensaver. Upon
each TV channel switch, there's one more. They also don't seem to
terminate, so the list is growing. Aren't they supposed to just signal a
"suspend" and then terminate themselves?

Regards,
Daniel

It's fine to have that transition plan, but unscd will still be a
separate source package; I'm planning on having it Replaces/Conflicts

Bug#513506: dhcp3-server: failover peering fails, crashes with SIGABRT afterwards

2009-01-30 Thread Axel Beckert
severity 513506 minor
retitle 513506 dhcp3-server: Mention new failover peer naming rules in
NEWS.Debian / Crash if config doesn't abide to them
thanks

In the meanwhile I found the problem and made the config conforming to
new naming rules for failover peers of 3.1.x. Since then also the
crashes are gone.

https://lists.isc.org/pipermail/dhcp-users/2007-September/004538.html

describes what went wrong.

With 3.0.x peer names only had to be consistent per host.

So on stock we had "failover peer ruchen" defined and on ruchen we had
"failover peer stock" defined for the same failover
connection. Relevant for the right connections were the address parts.

3.1.x allows multiple failover peer connections per IP address, so the
name became relevant. I named the failover peer connection the same on
both sides and it worked again.

So what remains are two minor issues (lowered severity accordingly)
with this package:

1) Please mention this quite heavy tripwire in NEWS.Debian for Lenny,
   because this can hurt others who dist-upgrade from Etch, too.

2) The crash only happens on unexpected input in the dhcpd.conf, so
   it's at most a minor programming error (which is still present in
   3.1.2 btw.)

How to reproduce the crash:

Host A:

failover peer "b"  {
  primary;
  address a;
  peer address b;
  split 128; # only on primary
}

Host B:

failover peer "a"  {
  secondary;
  address b;
  peer address a;
}

Correct configuration not triggering the crash:

Host A:

failover peer "ab"  {
  primary;
  address a;
  peer address b;
  split 128; # only on primary
}

Host B:

failover peer "ab"  {
  secondary;
  address b;
  peer address a;
}

I know it's a separate upstream, but it's a drop-in replacement, to the
point where it can read /etc/nsdcd.conf, so my goal was to just drop
nscd from the libc package at once and replace it with unscd. (replacing
nscd with a transition package and all that).

Bug#495349: Dependency & symlink problems

2009-01-30 Thread Phil Endecott
I've also just encountered this bug. Having installed geotiff-bin,
when I try to run listgeo I get the error "listgeo: error while loading
shared libraries: libgeotiff.so: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory". If I understand correctly - and it's quite
possible that I don't - there are two problems. Firstly, geotiff-bin
doesn't depend on libgeotiff1.2, so there isn't much chance of it
finding a libgeotiff.so unless you've previously installed that
package. Secondly, if you manually install libgeotiff1.2 you still
don't actually get a /usr/lib/libgeotiff.so. I would have thought that
making a symlink from /usr/lib/libgeotiff.so to libgeotiff.so.1 would
be appropriate, and adding that link manually makes listgeo work. Or
maybe listgeo should be compiled to expect the .so.1?

Cheers,  Phil.

Bug#513611: glpi: 'ID' Parameter Multiple SQL Injection Vulnerabilities

2009-01-30 Thread Nico Golde
Hi,
* Nelson A. de Oliveira  [2009-01-30 19:06]:
> glpi versions prior to 0.71.4 are affected by a SQL injection vulnerability.

> [2] http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/33477

Looking at how this was fixed I am not really happy with
having glpi in Debian. glpi uses addslashes all over the
place to prevent sql injection and they just embedded each
search string into '' to quote it now. addslashes is know to
be problematic depending on the encoding.

I see no single use of mysql_real_escape_string in the
complete code and also no custom escaping besides this.

I am no expert in websecurity but the whole software looks
rather fragile to me.

For example:
http://demo.glpi-project.org/front/computer.php?sort=23&order=,if(1=1,os,os)%20desc&start=0&field[0]=view&contains[0]=%&field2[0]=view&contains2[0]=
works even if injecting the order by order is not much of a
use but I am pretty sure that there are other sql
injections as well.

I would be in favor of removing this from lenny until
someone does a complete audit.

Rapphael? ;)

Cheers
Nico

If it is mergeable, it is better to merge it.

backward compatibility is always good. I think it's going to be easy
to provide it in this case. Maybe would be nice to warn during the
build about the new configuration to allow the dropping of it in
future.

Wouldn't this assert since you didn't adjust nr_args? I've sent
a fixed version upstream.

Bug#508673: davical can't find the include file AWLUtilities.php

2009-01-30 Thread Leo 'costela' Antunes
Hi there,

I would suggest reassigning this bug to libawl-php, changing it to
install to /usr/share/php/awl and change davical to include
'awl/.php'.
This way you'd use the standard PHP include dir, keep your files in a
sane place and make davical include them without making apache jump
through hoops.

Another - IMHO a lot dirtier - option would be to include a
/etc/davical/davical.conf (or something like that), which would have the
default dir for libawl-php. The only advantage being portability, perhaps.

Cheers

Bug#491137: Small example to reproduce the bug

2009-01-30 Thread Michael Tautschnig
found 491137 4.3.3-1
thanks

Finally I got around to produce a tiny example from the original code that
reproduces the bug. The attached code contains several notes on which parts seem
to be essential (e.g., using ::std::string in some way). To reproduce do

g++ -g -O2 -o invariance_annotation invariance_annotation.preproc.cpp
./invariance_annotation

vs.

g++ -g -O2 -DVOLATILE -o invariance_annotation invariance_annotation.preproc.cpp
./invariance_annotation

All experiments were done in the sid chroot on zelenka.d.o.

Hope this helps,
Michael

// try:
// g++ -O2 -o invariance_annotation invariance_annotation.preproc.cpp  ;
./invariance_annotation
// g++ -O2 -DVOLATILE -o invariance_annotation
invariance_annotation.preproc.cpp  ; ./invariance_annotation
// Was fine on g++ 4.2, only happens on s390; adding -g does not change the
behaviour
