Since you've got a 32-bit machine, that would likely explain why a rebuild of unmodified -3 also works. I've gone ahead and uploaded a -4 to experimental with --build and --host supplied to configure. When it gets built for the PPC, can you try the resulting package again? And do you prolly miss --enable-fat on ppc? That flag is present for the PPC buildd build. Was it missing on yours? Cheers, -Steve signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#460802: popup info is not shown
I see this same problem in Audacious 1.5.1-4. More specifically, the popup is only shown when I first rest the mouse cursor on a blank part of the playlist and then move it on top of a filename. If I first rest it outside the Audacious window or outside the playlist and then move it directly on top of a filename, the popup is not shown. Later after boot, when it will no longer make the whole system wait, and there is more entropy, one may try removing the empty /etc/wwwoffle/certificates/root/root-key.pem and rebuilding it using /etc/init.d/wwwoffle start. If after many minutes this never completes, consider copying it from a machine that has one...? Then # update-rc.d wwwoffle default Another consideration is how to install wwwoffle on smaller devices in the first place. One can only copy the certificate by hand from another machine. Anyway, in the http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wwwoffle.user there is mention about redesigns, as apparently this time bomb has gone off at about the same time for several people... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, python-awnlib is part of awn-extras-applets source package, available along with awn-applets-python-core and extras. This version should be available in experimental (http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/awn-extras-applets/) Also, the new version (0.3.2.1) should hit unstable in a couple of days, the situation should be a little more clear after this. Regards, Julien Lavergne 2009/3/14 John Gruenenfelder jo...@as.arizona.edu: Package: awn-applets-python-core Version: 0.2.6-4 Severity: normal Hello, I currently have AWN and applets packages 0.2.6 installed and want to try 0.3~bzrXXX versions but not all of the dependencies are available. Specifically, all dependencies for AWN 0.3~bzr489-1 are present, but there is no 0.3~bzr version of awn-applets-c-core or -extras. For awn-applets-python-core and -extras there is a 0.3~bzr912-1 version, but they depend on python-awnlib = 0.3~bzr912 which is not available in unstable or experimental. Bug#519055: bridge-utils: Default route set for the wrong interface when configuring with dhcp
On Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 6:30 AM, Santiago Garcia Mantinan ma...@debian.org wrote: Yes, NetworkManager and its gnome client are running. But I remember reading just recently that under Debian it is patched such that it only picks up on auto interfaces. In fact, in the nm-applet I only see br0, not eth2, and when I go into the settings (I've not really looked at it / used it before, just somehow found its way onto my system) it says br0 - never under wired connections. Of all the info you are giving me... the most suspicious part is this, as I don't use gnome I don't know how it works or what it does, but I've seen several network managers do really weird things. So if you could somehow disable this, either by uninstalling that part of gnome or by disabling it or not running gnome for some time just to see if things would work that way and that way determine if the gnome guys can somehow be responsable for this and ask them to help on this. Heh, I am not even running gnome. But network-manager got pulled in on some update, and xfce is a bit too compatible sometimes it seems, as it was then automatically added to my session... Since I have absolutely no need for this on my machine, I removed it and woosh, everything works just as expected. Now I _only_ see br0 up, and thus of course no route (or ip address for that matter) on eth2. Aside from that the only other noteworthy package I use (this is on a desktop btw), is virtualbox - which was also the reason I setup the bridge. But, aside from loading the vobxnetflt module, this problem occurs before I start virtualbox. Thanks for pointing this out, I know virtualbox, but I don't know what vboxnetflt does, so if you can explain this a little bit, it would be great. For what I know virtualbox loads its modules on startup, so even though I doubt it can be responsable for this, It could be, as it is doing things on our startup. How are you using this? I mean... For completeness' sake, I'll answer the rest of these, though the problem is solved. 1- you are loading the vbox modules and not running virtualbox and already seing this bug, right? Yes, exactly. The virtualbox modules don't get autoloaded for some reason, so I add them to /etc/modules. 2- how are you using virtualbox, why are you using a bridge with it? Please elaborate a bit on your network setup (you use eth2 bound to br0, how about eth0, eth1, ... how does virtualbox relate to the network interfaces, attaches using nat, host interface, ... and which interface it uses, ...) eth0 is non-existant due to udev persistent rules. eth1 is the onboard network card, but it's not connected to anything. eth2 is an intel gigabit card. I'm using the bridge so that my virtualbox instances can operate like regular machines on my network. They'll get a dhcp address from my server etc - it really is an easy way to get networking up and runnnig in virtualbox. 3- add any other thing you think could help us here :-) Sorry, I'm not being of much help here, but I don't know what can be causing all this, I'm trying to get enough info so that I can try to setup something similar here that replicates the problem so that I can trace it. =) You certainly were helpful! Now if you have the time and energy, it'd be interesting if you can duplicate the error with network-manager (should be quick to install and deinstall again, it does not depend on much afaik). Then maybe this bug could get reassigned to network-manager, because it clearly is missbehaving. On Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 01:30:59PM +, Dominic Hargreaves wrote: What should we do with this bug for request-tracker3.8? I quite like the idea of supporting sqlite out of the box and agree that we can't automatically configure anything else reliably. It is also fairly clear that it's not recommended for use in any production setting (except possibly for very low-use installations). It's already the case that anyone using our RT packages is going to have to have some knowledge of these matters - RT is not a fire-and-forget deployment even if we try and make it so as much as possible. Can we do any better than duplicating the documentation currently in 3.6 in 3.8 (and moving the docs currently on the team's web space into the package once we've had a chance to stabilise them?) A dbconfig-common hook for adding comments to the dbc_dbtypes list along with something like Recommends: rt3.6-db-mysql|rt3.6-db-postgresql could work. The hook feels a bit bloatish and too special purpose, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to cook up a patch and ask the dbconfig-common maintainers for their opinion. I'll look at that. Meanwhile, I think the Lenny solution is adequate. I agree the docs eventually belong in the package itself. I don't expect this to be such a big thing for Squeeze: Jesse said there are just a few known issues with the SQLite backend, and the Lenny version + users of the 3.8 versions will probably give it more testing. Bug#517472: libxml-libxml-perl: Missing versioned dependency on libxml2 - Causes runtime warnings

Quite annoying to find that many mails in your inbox from a system that runs quite fine in any other way ;-) Please either suppress the warning (unless it is actually relevant), or add a versioned dependency against the version of libxml2 you built against. The package was indeed built against libxml2 2.6.32. The dependency on libxml2 (= 2.6.27) is generated by dpkg-shlibdeps(1) based on the information in /var/lib/dpkg/info/libxml2.symbols . I think we should suppress the warning rather than try to outguess the libxml2 maintainer's statement about binary compatibility. IMO this should be discussed with XML-LibXML upstream first, ideally with a proposed patch that introduces a build-time switch that distributors can use to suppress the runtime warning. -- Niko Tyni nt...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#487974: tilde in file names, still a problem
calling texi2dvi /path/with~tilde/in/the/path.texi breaks I installed the patch below (modulo documentation, etc.) to support tildes. There's an undocumented -~ option to avoid all this madness in case it's totally broken. Hope none of these literal tildes mess anything up. More special characters could be supported, but then we'd have to assume a matching texinfo.tex (then -~ could come in useful). Plus, I've already spent too long on this for today. In any case, I advise using texi2dvi's tidy mode when special characters are a concern. It will work with a wider range of characters in the directory portion, at least. Besides being cleaner in general. Let me know if problems, of course. --- texi2dvi.~1.137.~ 2008-12-13 06:36:52.0 -0800 +++ texi2dvi2009-03-15 11:51:10.0 -0700 @@ -47,2 +47,3 @@ action=compile batch=false # true for batch mode +catcode_special=true debug=false @@ -929,8 +935,23 @@ run_tex () # from the user. Bug#519884: Searches for the device in the wrong place
Package: nxtvepg Version: 2.7.6-2 Severity: important If I load the ivtv module I got the devices /dev/videoX and /dev/vbiX and /dev/v4l/by-path/Symlinks to /dev/videoX As soon as the directory /dev/v4l exists, nxtvepg does ignore the devices under /dev and refuses to start as it thinks the video devices have to be beneath /dev/v4l. Bug#225169: [Linux-wlan-ng-devel] Bug#225169: linux-wlan-ng: Should build a .udeb (?)
Hello there, I wasn't able to build a lwng-udeb, it's too hard for me. Source, building, configfiles or binary-only is confusing me and I can't think clearly any more. But I managed to install Lenny with d-i using my prism2_usb device (even using WEP). So I write down how I did it. Perhaps someone else can benefit from it or possibly build the udeb (I think it's not too much work). I don't know if all modules are neccessary (I read somewhere that orinocco (I think) can handle prism_2 devices except the prism2_usb) so perhaps it is possible to save some some bytes, but I leave them in my description because of completeness. 1. Download the smallest d-i iso available (mini.iso) e.g. http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/lenny/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso 2. Build kernel modules for the installer kernel You need linux-wlan-ng-source, module-assistant and linux-headers-2.6.26-1-468 and /usr/src/linux-wlan-ng-modules-2.6.26-1-486_0.2.9+dfsg-2_i386.deb will be created: aptitude install linux-wlan-ng-source linux-headers-2.6.26-1-486 m-a -l 2.6.26-1-486 build linux-wlan-ng 3. Extract vmlinuz and initrd.gz from the iso-file 4. Create a temporary directory and put the content of initrd (inside initrd.gz) there. Be shure that you extracted the empty directories (e.g. /proc, root) too. 5. Just copy a few files from linux-wlan-ng and the created (see 2.) modules into the temporary directory. (See filelist.lwng, total: 450kb) 6. Now you must modify four files in /lib/modules/2.6.26-1-486 (the d-i kernel must know where to find the kernel-module, see the files attached as modules.alias.prism2, modules.dep.prism2, modules.pcimap.prism2 and modules.usbmap.prism2) 7. Create a new initrd by executing in the temporary folder: find . | cpio --create --'format=newc' | gzip ../initrd.gz 8. Place kernel and initrd.gz somewhere you can acces them via your bootloader and boot them (no need for a CD or something else but your WEP key) Install your Lenny system ;-) 9. If you want to use prism2_usb in your freshly installed system, you must install linux-wlan-ng, linux-wlan-ng-source and the matching linux-headers of your installed kernel BEFORE you finish installation and reboot in your new system (eg. by pressing F2 when d-i says ready, please reboot): apt-install linux-wlan-ng linux-wlan-ng-source linux-headers-your_kernel_version 10. Having some problems with in-target m-a -l your_kernel_version build linux-wlan-ng, I created the modules for my lenny-system after rebooting, but I think for lwng-udeb there should be a way creating and installing them from d-i using in-target. So I used: m-a a-i linux-wlan-ng in my freshly installed lenny There is no need to configure something in your new lenny system since d-i copied the configuration into the target system. After the installation I had an bug (Warning: Fake start-stop-daemon called, doing nothing and therefore was not able to startx) which isn't neccessarily related to lwng. However, it could be solved with: mv /sbin/start-stop-daemon.REAL /sbin/start-stop-daemon Thanks so long and sorry for not providing an ubdeb. Bug#485171: jzip: FTBFS when converted to new source format 3.0 (quilt): patch files contained in tarballs
tag 485171 confirmed thanks On Sun, Jun 08, 2008 at 06:11:57PM +0200, Raphael Hertzog wrote: To prepare a possible switch to the new source package format 3.0 (quilt) [1], I converted all source packages and tried to rebuild them. In the case of jzip, the quilt series is only applicable after extraction of a tarball/zipfile/jarfile. But dpkg-source tries to apply the quilt series immediately after unpack and will thus fail. Upstream only distributes a .zip file, and I think having a pristine version of that in the Debian archive has more value than switching to the new source format. Thus I will keep this package at format 1.0 for now and close this bug by uploading a new version that makes this explicit. -- Niko Tyni nt...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#519828: openoffice.org-calc: The program reports error on the IF function, copied verbatim from documentation
René, thanks for the speedy answer. OK, not everything is crystal-clear to me - after all, I need neither a column separator nor a row separator - I need a parameter separator in a function call! But, yes, using the ',' where the current documentation says to use ';' in English-locale oocalc works, so I have a functional work-around, and you maintainers can fix the documentation at your leisure. It is going to be quite a task to fix all the examples, I believe. It also works to switch to Danish locale and use ';'. And then when I save the file and switch back to English locale, the ',' pops up. English in Denmark? Well, I do write an occasional English sentence :-) But I still have a Danish keyboard, just to be able to write my own name. In despair I finally created a very little spreadsheet and copied the expression =IF(A15;100;too small) verbatim from the Openoffice Help example. Same problem. I suspect that the problem may be related to the fact that I work in a not- quite English environment; my locale is en_DK.UTF-8. The separator ; may be a different one? If that is the case, and I have missed to locate such info in documentation, I apologize; still, the exact error message would be quite confusing. No, it actually wasn't in the hekp until now, the 3.1 ooo-build contains this, though. -paragraph role=paragraph id=par_id936613 xml-lang=en-US l10n=NEWThe column separator (separating elements in one row) is the ';' semicolon. The row separator is a '|' pipe symbol. The separators are not language and locale dependent. /paragraph +paragraph role=paragraph id=par_id936613 xml-lang=en-US l10n=NEWThe column separator (separating elements in one row) and the row separator are language and locale dependent. But in this help content, the ';' semicolon and '|' pipe symbol are used to indicate the column and row separators, respectively. For example, in the English locale, the ',' comma is used as the column separator, while the ';' semicolon is used as the row separator./paragraph Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) There's english spoken in Denmark? ;) Grüße/Regards, René -- Peder Chr. Bug#494612: python-edbus: elderly bug -- no resolution? fails to build with the most recent eina
Package: python-edbus Version: 0.2.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #494612 I am packaging pythm for Debian... only now I realized that we depend on python-edbus and that one is not in Debian main. Although reported below FBTS is more about edbus I decided to report it here for now. python-edbus related question though is: I checked wnpp and see no ITP for python-edbus... would you mind filing it? ;) also there is no python-edbus built for amd64 on pkg-fso repository... ie within http://pkg-fso.alioth.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-amd64/Packages would you mind building python-edbus and all prerequisits for amd64 and making them available from that repository? please please please? as for FTBFS of edbus: I downloaded sources from pkg-fso: python-edbus-0.3.1+svn20081220 it needed fresh edbus (libedbus-dev (= 0.5.0.050+svn20090130)) for some reason, so edbus-0.5.0.050+svn20090130 it needed eina, so downloaded/built/installed eina-0.0.1~svn20090128 built eina, then went back to edbus and it failed: ,-- | cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../../.. -I ../../../src/lib/dbus -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib/dbus-1.0/include -I/usr/include/eina-0 -I/usr/include/eina-0/eina -g -O2 -g -Wall -O2 -c e_hal_device.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/e_hal_device.o | In file included from e_hal_device.c:1: | ./E_Hal.h:86: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before ‘Eina_Hash’ | e_hal_device.c: In function ‘unmarshal_device_get_all_properties’: | e_hal_device.c:91: error: ‘E_Hal_Device_Get_All_Properties_Return’ has no member named ‘properties’ | e_hal_device.c:91: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘eina_hash_string_small_new’ | e_hal_device.c:145: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘eina_hash_add’ | e_hal_device.c:145: error: ‘E_Hal_Device_Get_All_Properties_Return’ has no member named ‘properties’ | e_hal_device.c: In function ‘free_device_get_all_properties’: | e_hal_device.c:159: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘eina_hash_free’ | e_hal_device.c:159: error: ‘E_Hal_Device_Get_All_Properties_Return’ has no member named ‘properties’ | make[5]: *** [e_hal_device.lo] Error 1 | make[5]: Leaving directory `/home/yoh/deb/perspect/edbus/edbus-0.5.0.050+svn20090130/src/lib/hal' `--- so I just went ahead and tuned up build-depends for python-edbus to be ok with edbus edbus-0.5.0.050... then I ran into another mess with missing libecore0 and recalling comment by Nikita that many things are still in NEW, I just gave up ;) but thought that it might be worth mentioining this issue somewhere... -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable'), (300, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages python-edbus depends on: ii libc62.9-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.1-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libecore00.9.9.050-1 Core abstraction layer for enlight ii libedbus00.5.0.050-1 D-Bus and HAL wrapper libraries fo ii python 2.5.2-3 An interactive high-level object-o ii python-support 0.8.4 automated rebuilding support for P python-edbus recommends no packages. python-edbus suggests no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
