Bug#529274: ITP: nagzilla -- jabber relay bot
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Gerfried Fuchs rho...@debian.at * Package name: nagzilla Version : 1.5.4-1 Upstream Author : Bill Mathews of Hurricane Labs * URL : http://code.google.com/p/nagzilla/ * License : GPLv2 Programming Lang: Perl Description : jabber relay bot Nagzilla was designed to be a Jabber relay bot, in that it sits quietly in a room until it gets a message to relay to either a chat room or a person. The early work was based on several simple examples out on the Internet, but would just keep logging into a room every time the bot had something to say. It was made a daemon, which allows it to get Nagzilla alerts from various systems and event creators. Nagzillac (the client program) accepts any string input and makes it into a Jabber message. This should work with Google Talk (as it's Jabber-based), but that is untested. So long. :) Rhonda -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Petru Ratiu wrote: If I understood correctly, the patch will make any rule parsable only on the host it's meant for (or if the classes are manually defined on the command line). This prevents me running automated syntax checks to catch some other (valid) syntax errors, because (at least in my setup) it's more difficult to set up the parser to include all rules than to exclude all rules. I'd rather have false positives than false negatives : Hi Petru, actually the parsing will always be done, the patch removes the InitializeAction() function which causes the problem, all other functions of parse.c do not have InitializeAction() and that should be the right and default behavior, so that function called there is just a software bug. As I said, the patch won't change the behavior and cfengine will always parse everything, feel free to download the package from mentors.debian.net and execute cfengine with -d1, this will dump all the parse the cfengine does and you can check by yourself :-) Please let me know if it breaks the default behavior when it comes to correct admit/grant entries, it shouldn't but I want to be extra sure. It wouldn't work before because svn-bp checked for unresolved issues and subversion mentions externals as such. So, by ignoring svn:externals in that check svn-bp is able to proceed. I think the error is caused since the new atomic operations feature was incorporated to OpenThreads between the 2.4 and the 2.8 releases. Since it seems that nobody uses armel on the OSG list -- otherwise this error would come up several months ago --, one possible solution would be to deactivate the use of those intrinsics only for armel. This approach has however several disadvantages: - Seeing the CMakeLists.txt file, it seems that there is no way of deactivating that feature, since is not optional but configured automatically through tests. I could, however, ask for a way to do it on the mailing list. - It is almost a shoot in the dark, since we cannot test in a fast way if the fix is working (it seems that for armel the latency is almost two months). - We cannot know if the original error comes from OSG, CMake o armel's system libraries. Suggestions? Based on your research it seems that we need to exclude armel from the list of supported arch for OpenSceneGraph for the time being. Do you see another solution ? Bug#529281: Please add the option to autodetect distribution from changelog
Package: sbuild Version: 0.58.2-1 Severity: wishlist Hello, thank you for sbuild. When used by DDs to build packages to upload, sbuild has the unexpected behaviour of ignoring the distribution set in the changelog. Of course this behaviour is what is needed in build daemons, but it would be useful if sbuild could be able to do it both ways. An option would be to use the distribution set in the changelog when one specifies -d auto, but that may have a rare failure scenario if someone having their own local distribution with a suite called auto. Alternatively, one could use another option like --auto-distribution or --no-auto-distribution, and set the defaults from $sbuild_mode. This was roughly the result of the brainstorming we just had on IRC. Bug#526525: AMD64 kernel - mptbase
I'm having the same issue as being discussed in this thread with installation of a new Dell R610. i686 installation detects disks properly (output of lsmod attached). amd64 installation doesn't detect disks so I'm unable to install. Output seen in dmesg includes the line: mptbase: ioc0: Error - : ERROR - Unable to map adapter memory! I'm in the process of looking into this further but looks to me like the disk driver isn't being loaded properly for some reason. Note, this only seems to affect amd64. I've got a perfectly fine, working i686 installation and the i686 installer detects all disks and loads the module properly. How do you mute/unmute? By pressing third mouse button on mixer applet or left mouse button on speaker icon in mixer window. Ok, same here. You can also open mixer window, click mute/unmute (on panel and window) and see how speaker icons and volume level indicators are not synchronized. Volume level has nothing to do with mute/unmute, so it should be ok that when you mute, the level stays where it was. Are you sure that the defined mixer for the plugin is the same one you're muting in xfce4-mixer window? When you open the mixer window and mute sound on panel you will see that volume level on slider in window will be set to minimum and speaker icon will not get red cross. Then you should unmute sound on applet (by pressing third mouse button) and you will see that sound lever slider will remain set to minimum. And I am sure that I have the same settings for applet and window. Hmh, definitely not. Here, when I mute (wether by middle clicking on the panel or left-clicking on the “mute” button in xfce4-mixer window, the volume is left unchanged, and I get the red cross on the mixer plugin and on the associated chanell in the mixer window xfce4-mixer uses gstreamer to drive the sound stuff, so maybe there's a problem there, wether in gstreamer, pulseaudio if you use it, or even alsa. Maybe your card doesn't really support muting this channel and it then drops the volume to 0 instead of muting, which then confuses the mixer at unmuting time. Could you detail your sound system (software) and maybe try with another channel. Try on another box too, if you can. Bug#528512: Pager problem with ban offscreen
Hi, Bug #528512 at Debian[1] seems to me to be the responsibility of commit f9c2ee62a32cd98eedd3a76f9180dd320f682d80 Author: Maarten Maathuis madman2...@gmail.com Date: Thu Nov 20 22:11:13 2008 +0100 client: reimplement client_{ban,unban} for more performance Which move windows offscreen rather than unmapping them. We are breaking pagers with that, which is IMHO more problematic than solutionning performance problem we are not responsible for. I might decide to fix that bug by reverting to the old unmap system unless someone has an idea how to fix this properly. Excellent. I've currently done most of the work of packaging that and was just waiting for its dependencies to finish packaging prior to release. However, I'll wait on your new upstream update before doing so. Thanks for letting us know! Perhaps you want to wait on this one until then? In the meantime, Socket::GetAddrInfo is a (stable) dependency of IO::Async, so perhaps you want to do that one first? I believe Socket::GetAddrInfo has already entered Debian unstable :-) My freshly updated apt-cache shows it (try apt-cache search libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl) P.S. Bug#528828: krb5: FTBFS on hurd-i386: Unguarded use of system limit macros #2
Coin, In fact, the patch is mostly identical to the previous one, just added 3 very small chunks to solve the same thing as the previous patch. It is a fix because PATH_MAX, MAXHOSTNAMELEN, and MAXPATHLEN should not be used unconditionnaly, as it is a POSIX incompatibility. The Hurd do not need these and thus do not define them. Nevertheless, and thanks to Michael, we noticed the first chunk of the patch is obsolete and can safely be removed (or seems it was already, probably because it didn't apply anymore). You were right about splitting the patch, this had nothing to do with with the other chunks. I'm not used to this kind of patch system where debian/patches is only informational, and i don't understand the rational, but nevertheless i'll have a look at your method and resubmit the patch soon. Bug#529290: pulseaudio: can't select non-iec958 profiles
Package: pulseaudio Version: 0.9.15-1 Severity: normal Since installation of 0.9.15-1 (0.9.14 worked without problems) I can not use pulseaudio in its default configuration with my soundcard (Terratec EWS88 MT). * Jakub Lucký ja...@jakublucky.cz [2009-05-17 22:01:32 CEST]: Package: wesnoth Version: 1:1.6.2-1 Severity: minor When playing with computer oponent (Default AI), with higher amount of units, Wesnoth decides very very long time, which unit should turn(like AI is thinking) with pretty high cpu load Maybe some wrong... Upstream is aware of that it can take quite some time in huger maps. If you turn off the animations, sounds and showing of enemy turns it should reduce the needed time a fair bit. Seems to me that it is problem of last upgrade If you mean with last upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6 instead of from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 then yes. If you mean 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 it rather should be a bit reduced again because upstream is actively working on reducing that kind of stuff. What is your system, btw.? CPU? To get some useful informations about it mentioning in what campaign/scenario/map you are experiencing the issue together with a savegame could be helpful, too. So long! Bug#528994: Acknowledgement (xserver-xorg-core: Corrupt mouse motion events send pointer to top-left of screen)
Assuming that this xorg.conf option works properly Option AccelerationSchemenone I don't think it's an acceleration bug. I grabbed the debugging symbols package and attached to Xorg, and I was seeing the pDev-last.valuators array getting zeroed out in GetPointerEvents, (getevents.c) somewhere around this block of code: events = updateFromMaster(events, pDev, num_events); if (flags POINTER_ABSOLUTE) { if (flags POINTER_SCREEN) /* valuators are in screen coords */ { valuators[0] = rescaleValuatorAxis(valuators[0], NULL, pDev-valuator-axes + 0, scr-width); valuators[1] = rescaleValuatorAxis(valuators[1], NULL, pDev-valuator-axes + 1, scr-height); } moveAbsolute(pDev, x, y, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators); } else { if (flags POINTER_ACCELERATE) accelPointer(pDev, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators, ms); moveRelative(pDev, x, y, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators); } That causes the code to add the deltas to 0,0 to get the next absolute position. It's hard to pinpoint exactly where this is happening, because of the code optimization, but the updateFromMaster call now seems like the next place to look. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#529296: mr: a --really-quiet option would be handy
Package: mr Version: 0.39 Severity: wishlist I use mr to keep a number of branches on my laptop up to date, so that I can easily take my laptop and go hack, without having to remember to copy everything manually onto it. I run mr from cron. This works fine, since all branches I am mirroring are publically available. I get an e-mail from cron every few hours, which contains the output of mr. I have to scan this manually to see if (and what) went wrong. Using the -q option does not significantly reduce the amount of text I need to scan. It would be really handy for me to have a --really-quiet option (by whatever name), which would suppress all output, unless something went wrong. Possibly just outputting a single line saying all went OK (and N branches were updated). This way, I could spend a few less brain cycles on dealing with this output. Actually, now that I think of it, it might be possible to generalize this: a command called something like suppress-output-unless-there-was-an-error that would capture stdout and stderr and print nothing if the command exited with 0, else print everything. Joey, would you prefer mr --really-quiet or a command to submit to moreutils? I'd be happy to submit a patch for either. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#529295: [sprng] sprng4 and mpi support

I forced my way around sprng2 with some help from others (to make it create a shared library) as I needed a distributed random number generator for use by R with the snow (r-cran-snow) framework for distributed computing. I never used sprng as a library. I am aware that there are newer versions, and I have at times tried, and failed, to package them. Would you like to tackle this jointly? Otherwise, from R's side there is another parallel rng provided by http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rlecuyer/index.html Pierre L'Ecuyer is quite well known for RNG work, maybe his code would suitable for a general purpose library too ? I have been thinking about packaging this and the retiring r-cran-rsprng and the sprng package. Thought or comments? Bug#529275: Packaging the nusoap PHP lib instead of embedded copies ?

It seems to me there are plenty of copies of the nusoap PHP lib [0] embedded in lots of packages :-/ NuSOAP provides a PHP SOAP server code which allows lots of applications to expose some web service (WSDL, SOAP methods, etc.) I'm not sure how to verify which packages are affected with a Debian tool, btw... but http://www.google.com/search?q=debian+filelist+nusoap.php+site:packages.debian.org gives a first idea of the number... I guess it may be better to have such a library in a separate package on which the others would depend, although there may be counter arguments. I packaged it for my own purposes. If you interessted in it, let me know. Sure, as long as I could redistribute it ;) Attached is the unmodified orig source and my files to build the debian package. It's basically created by dh-make-pear. Use it as you like. Excellent. Thanks alot. I've adapted it and prepared a git repo containing all that in http://git.debian.org/?p=users/olberger-guest/nusoap.git;a=tree I hope you won't mind me putting this Debianization under the GNU GPL (V3) ? Bug#515324: Depends on GTK 1.2 and GLIB 1.2
Thanks a lot! It could very well be so that you have used some other version of something that made something different. I got a few warnings when I run autoreconf so it could be because of that.
