Bug#529274: ITP: nagzilla -- jabber relay bot

2009-05-18 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Gerfried Fuchs rho...@debian.at

* Package name: nagzilla
  Version : 1.5.4-1
  Upstream Author : Bill Mathews of Hurricane Labs
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/nagzilla/
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : jabber relay bot

Nagzilla was designed to be a Jabber relay bot, in that it sits
quietly in a room until it gets a message to relay to either a chat room
or a person. The early work was based on several simple examples out on
the Internet, but would just keep logging into a room every time the bot
had something to say. It was made a daemon, which allows it to get
Nagzilla alerts from various systems and event creators. Nagzillac (the
client program) accepts any string input and makes it into a Jabber
message. This should work with Google Talk (as it's Jabber-based), but
that is untested.

 So long. :)

Webkit does not support rendering pages send in Content-Encoding: gzip. This
makes it impossible to use them. One example for such a site is ubuntuone.com.

It just displays the binary data, but does not decode it.

Oh, cool. Sorry about the flames, I'm a bit overprotective with my

Bug#520696: cfengine2: cfservd fails to parse valid admit rules

2009-05-18 Thread Antonio Radici

Petru Ratiu wrote:

If I understood correctly, the patch will make any rule parsable only
on the host it's meant for (or if the classes are manually defined on
the command line). This prevents me running automated syntax checks to
catch some other (valid) syntax errors, because (at least in my setup)
it's more difficult to set up the parser to include all rules than to
exclude all rules.

I'd rather have false positives than false negatives :

Hi Petru,
actually the parsing will always be done, the patch removes the
InitializeAction() function which causes the problem, all other
functions of parse.c do not have InitializeAction() and that should be
the right and default behavior, so that function called there is just a
software bug.

As I said, the patch won't change the behavior and cfengine will always
parse everything, feel free to download the package from
mentors.debian.net and execute cfengine with -d1, this will dump all the
parse the cfengine does and you can check by yourself :-)

Please let me know if it breaks the default behavior when it comes to
correct admit/grant entries, it shouldn't but I want to be extra sure.

 How does the change described address my request? I asked for
 svn-buildpackage to *follow* svn:externals, not to simply avoid complaining
 about them.

svn-buildpackage does nothing more than 'svn export' which should follow
svn:externals itself. It wouldn't work before because svn-bp checked for
unresolved issues and subversion mentions externals as such. So, by
ignoring svn:externals in that check svn-bp is able to proceed.

If this doesn't work out for you please give me an explicit case, for
instance a subversion repository address of a package that wouldn't
build. I tested this with the sbdemo shell script you can find in the
bug report.

2009-05-18 Thread alex bodnaru

hello rene,

thanks for considering my report.

i have looked at the a.doc, attached to the upstream report, and it seems to
load the same for my 3.0.1 and 3.1.0 installations.

i incline to think that my bug is related to the right to left nature of the
document, as the table seems to be rendered a-right from the presumed right
margin of the page, as opposed to a-right from the left margin, as a left to
right page may display.

 I can reproduce this even with upstreams binaries of 3.1.0 (also
 the file Wang Long sent). Thus forwarding.
 (and fixing the title, that OOo 3.0 is ok is a given with the current

 characteristics the documents are)

 That said, a.doc only has a (empty) table - are you sure it's the same bug?
 If not, why did you the send unrelated document to a bug which
 handles about bogus importing of a document when your document is different
 and eventually an other bug?

Bug#528489: tasksel: kde-desktop neeeds adjusting for KDE4

2009-05-18 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Ana Guerrero (a...@debian.org):

  Will the kde-standard meta package fit that requirement?

 Yes, I think it will do. Currently kde-standard is exactly the same than
 kde-minimal. The goal in the very close future is that kde-standard become
 something between kde-minimal and kde-full; this a similar to what the old
 task does, it contains kde-core and some modules. (Actually I think the
 current list of key packages is too big, but that does not matter anymore)

.../...

I think that Ana's answer is well suited to answer Frans'
concerns. So, applying the patcjh *and uploading tasksel* would be OK,
IMHO.

Any objections to this ?

(please note that I'm OK to apply the patch but, while I could
certainly upload tasksel as well, I'd prefer the regular maintainers
to do so (looking for the recent past, that would mean Joey or
Otavio).

 well, the driver that just left new works flawlessly with 2.6.26 which
 is what was in use when i prepared the package. due to the delay with
 NEW, it's not fully working yet with 2.6.29. you may want to look at the
 git tree which has a newer version and is supposed to work well with
 2.6.29 (it builds, but i've not tested it yet).

Okay, will try when I find the time.

Bug#529091: openscenegraph: fails to build on armel hidden symbol (...) is referenced by DSO

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Alberto Luaces wrote:
 Package: openscenegraph Version: 2.4.0-1.1 Severity: serious
 Justification: no longer builds from source

 At last, the armel build of 2.8.0-4 took place on May 10th. However
 it failed because the following error when building the first
 program on the suite that uses the library, osgviewer:

 /usr/bin/ld: ../../bin/osgviewer: hidden symbol
 `__sync_bool_compare_and_swap_4' in
 /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabi/4.3.3/libgcc.a(linux-atomic.o) is
 referenced by DSO /usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Nonrepresentable
 section on output

 It is the same error that the 2.8.0-1 release got on this platform
 in the past. I think the error is caused since the new atomic
 operations feature was incorporated to OpenThreads between the 2.4
 and the 2.8 releases.

 Since it seems that nobody uses armel on the OSG list -- otherwise
 this error would come up several months ago --, one possible
 solution would be to deactivate the use of those intrinsics only
 for armel. This approach has however several disadvantages:

 - Seeing the CMakeLists.txt file, it seems that there is no way of
 deactivating that feature, since is not optional but configured
 automatically through tests. I could, however, ask for a way to do
 it on the mailing list.

 - It is almost a shoot in the dark, since we cannot test in a fast
 way if the fix is working (it seems that for armel the latency is
 almost two months).

 - We cannot know if the original error comes from OSG, CMake o
 armel's system libraries.

 Suggestions?
Based on your research it seems that we need to exclude armel from the
list of supported arch for OpenSceneGraph for the time being. Do you
see another solution ?

Cheers

Bug#529281: Please add the option to autodetect distribution from changelog

2009-05-18 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: sbuild
Version: 0.58.2-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

thank you for sbuild.

When used by DDs to build packages to upload, sbuild has the unexpected
behaviour of ignoring the distribution set in the changelog.

Of course this behaviour is what is needed in build daemons, but it
would be useful if sbuild could be able to do it both ways.

An option would be to use the distribution set in the changelog when one
specifies -d auto, but that may have a rare failure scenario if
someone having their own local distribution with a suite called auto.

Alternatively, one could use another option like --auto-distribution or
--no-auto-distribution, and set the defaults from $sbuild_mode.

This was roughly the result of the brainstorming we just had on IRC.

Ciao,

Enrico

Bug#526525: AMD64 kernel - mptbase

2009-05-18 Thread Andrew Robert Nicols
I'm having the same issue as being discussed in this thread with
installation of a new Dell R610.

i686 installation detects disks properly (output of lsmod attached).
amd64 installation doesn't detect disks so I'm unable to install. Output
seen in dmesg includes the line:
mptbase: ioc0: Error - : ERROR - Unable to map adapter memory!

I'm in the process of looking into this further but looks to me like the
disk driver isn't being loaded properly for some reason.

Note, this only seems to affect amd64. I've got a perfectly fine, working
i686 installation and the i686 installer detects all disks and loads the
module properly.

Bug#529282: libvirt: questionable build-dep on open-iscsi

2009-05-18 Thread Paul Collins
Package: libvirt
Version: 0.6.3-2

This package checks for iscsiadm at build-time, but makes no attempt to
ensure it is available at runtime. This seems backwards to me, and with
open-iscsi being currently uninstallable on vanilla systems (#529280)
right now it is challenging to rebuild libvirt oneself.

Please consider removing open-iscsi from the build-dependencies,
modifying the configure script to skip the check for iscsiadm, and
adding Suggests: open-iscsi on the libvirt-bin package.

related to the XMMS2 upstream release with its new API.

Bug#529284: python class documentation outdated

2009-05-18 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.41
Severity: normal

Note to self (or the friendly comaintainers):

The documentation of the python-distutils.mk class is stuck in the age of
dh_python (or shortly thereafter). For example, it does not mention that
DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM exists or is mandatory. The section needs a more extensive
review.

In lenny, pressing of key ^ has no effect.

Etch uses gcalctool version 5.8.25.

2009-05-18 Thread Ludovic Brenta
Nicolas,

Why do you say that there is a type mismatch in the record declaration? As far
as I can see, the contents of the record type are completely irrelevant to the
bug; it simply tries to convert the integer zero to an access value during
elaboration (which should presumably return null).

Ok, same here.

  You can also open mixer window, click mute/unmute (on panel and window)
  and see
  how speaker icons and volume level indicators are not synchronized.

 Volume level has nothing to do with mute/unmute, so it should be ok that
 when you mute, the level stays where it was. Are you sure that the
 defined mixer for the plugin is the same one you're muting in
 xfce4-mixer window?

 When you open the mixer window and mute sound on panel you will see that
 volume level on slider in window will be set to minimum and speaker icon will
 not get red cross.
 Then you should unmute sound on applet (by pressing third mouse button) and
 you will see that sound lever slider will remain set to minimum.
 And I am sure that I have the same settings for applet and window.

Hmh, definitely not. Here, when I mute (wether by middle clicking on the
panel or left-clicking on the “mute” button in xfce4-mixer window, the
volume is left unchanged, and I get the red cross on the mixer plugin
and on the associated chanell in the mixer window

xfce4-mixer uses gstreamer to drive the sound stuff, so maybe there's a
problem there, wether in gstreamer, pulseaudio if you use it, or even
alsa. Maybe your card doesn't really support muting this channel and it
then drops the volume to 0 instead of muting, which then confuses the
mixer at unmuting time.

Could you detail your sound system (software) and maybe try with another
channel. Try on another box too, if you can.

 That's right. I'll try to cook a patch to let the server know we don't
 know how to handle gzip yet.
It seems that this was an error on the ubuntuone.com server which send
gzip encoded content, although the client did not explicitly request
it (the server was thus violating a SHOULD of RFC2616).

This means that webkit behaves correctly according to the specification,
which means this bug should be more or less a wishlist bug. But sending
an Accept-Encoding: identity header would be correct as well.

But I still would like to have gzip support in webkit, as it can improve
experience on slow connections.

Bug#528512: Pager problem with ban offscreen

Hi,

Bug #528512 at Debian[1] seems to me to be the responsibility of
commit f9c2ee62a32cd98eedd3a76f9180dd320f682d80
Author: Maarten Maathuis madman2...@gmail.com
Date:   Thu Nov 20 22:11:13 2008 +0100

client: reimplement client_{ban,unban} for more performance

Which move windows offscreen rather than unmapping them.

We are breaking pagers with that, which is IMHO more problematic than
solutionning performance problem we are not responsible for.

I might decide to fix that bug by reverting to the old unmap system
unless someone has an idea how to fix this properly.

 Actually, I am shortly about to release 0.21, which makes quite a few
 updates and changes on 0.20, and fixes some of the suprious testing
 failures in it (mostly to do with imprecise timings on busy
 build/testing boxes).
Excellent. I've currently done most of the work of packaging that and
was just waiting for its dependencies to finish packaging prior to
release. However, I'll wait on your new upstream update before doing
so. Thanks for letting us know!

 Perhaps you want to wait on this one until then? In the meantime,
 Socket::GetAddrInfo is a (stable) dependency of IO::Async, so perhaps
 you want to do that one first?
I believe Socket::GetAddrInfo has already entered Debian unstable :-)
My freshly updated apt-cache shows it (try apt-cache search
libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl)

 P.S. I see you've already done Devel::Refcount and Test::Refcount -
 thanks for this :)

Bug#528828: krb5: FTBFS on hurd-i386: Unguarded use of system limit macros #2

2009-05-18 Thread Marc Dequènes (Duck)

Coin,

In fact, the patch is mostly identical to the previous one, just added
3 very small chunks to solve the same thing as the previous patch. It
is a fix because PATH_MAX, MAXHOSTNAMELEN, and MAXPATHLEN should not
be used unconditionnaly, as it is a POSIX incompatibility. The Hurd do
not need these and thus do not define them.

Nevertheless, and thanks to Michael, we noticed the first chunk of the
patch is obsolete and can safely be removed (or seems it was already,
probably because it didn't apply anymore). You were right about
splitting the patch, this had nothing to do with with the other chunks.

I'm not used to this kind of patch system where debian/patches is only
informational, and i don't understand the rational, but nevertheless
i'll have a look at your method and resubmit the patch soon.

Regards.

Bug#529290: pulseaudio: can't select non-iec958 profiles

2009-05-18 Thread Arno Schuring
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 0.9.15-1
Severity: normal

Since installation of 0.9.15-1 (0.9.14 worked without problems) I can not use
pulseaudio in its default configuration with my soundcard (Terratec EWS88 MT).
Like #522177 (where I reported this first), I received no error messages, no
indication that anything is wrong, but still got no sound.

If I understand correctly, pulseaudio tries to get different configuration
profiles from the ALSA information (seen with pulseaudio -vv). In my case,
there are no profiles for the analog outputs. Pulseaudio will log lines like:

D: alsa-util.c: Checking for playback on analog-stereo (front)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying front:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying front:0 without SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying plug:front:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying plug:front:0 without SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
I: alsa-util.c: Failed to set hardware parameters on plug:front:0: Invalid
argument

However, it does find configuration profiles for the digital inputs and
outputs:

D: alsa-util.c: Checking for playback on iec958-stereo (iec958)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying iec958:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
[...]
D: alsa-util.c: Checking for capture on iec958-stereo (iec958)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying iec958:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
I: module-alsa-card.c: Found output profile 'Output Digital Stereo (IEC958)
 + Input Digital Stereo (IEC958)'

And as a result, the only profiles available will be the digital ones (as seen
on the rightmost tab in pavucontrol). My workaround is to disable
module-hal-detect and manually load-module module-alsa-sink, which works but is
not how I want things to work (or how I think it should work).

  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Program exited with code 01.

So it looks like it's not outputting the backtrace. What am I doing wrong so I

Bug#529289: pulseaudio: can't select non-iec958 profiles

2009-05-18 Thread Arno Schuring
Subject: pulseaudio: can't select non-iec958 profiles
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 0.9.15-1
Severity: normal

Since installation of 0.9.15-1 (0.9.14 worked without problems) I can
not use pulseaudio in its default configuration with my soundcard
(Terratec EWS88 MT). Like #522177 (where I reported this first), I
received no error messages, no indication that anything is wrong, but
still got no sound.

If I understand correctly, pulseaudio tries to get different
configuration profiles from the ALSA information (seen with pulseaudio
-vv). In my case, there are no profiles for the analog outputs.
Pulseaudio will log lines like:

D: alsa-util.c: Checking for playback on analog-stereo (front)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying front:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying front:0 without SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying plug:front:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
D: alsa-util.c: Trying plug:front:0 without SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
I: alsa-util.c: Failed to set hardware parameters on plug:front:0:
Invalid argument

However, it does find configuration profiles for the digital inputs and
outputs:

D: alsa-util.c: Checking for playback on iec958-stereo (iec958)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying iec958:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
[...]
D: alsa-util.c: Checking for capture on iec958-stereo (iec958)
D: alsa-util.c: Trying iec958:0 with SND_PCM_NO_AUTO_FORMAT ...
I: module-alsa-card.c: Found output profile 'Output Digital Stereo
(IEC958) + Input Digital Stereo (IEC958)'

And as a result, the only profiles available will be the digital ones
(as seen on the rightmost tab in pavucontrol). My workaround is to
disable module-hal-detect and manually load-module module-alsa-sink,
which works but is not how I want things to work (or how I think it
should work).

The python bindings for the calls rrd_info, rrd_graph_v and rrd_update_v

Bug#499820: ocsinventory-server: Apache fails to start with OCS 1.02~rc2-1

Here is a patch to put the dbcommon configuration in a separate file.

The postinst script should not run dbcommon configuration on new

https://gdcm.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gdcm/Sandbox/debian-med/vtk/vtkidtype

Steps:
$ svn co

$ cd vtkidtype
$ cmake .

 A full build log can be found at:
 http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?arch=i386pkg=gdcmver=2.0.10-1

 This is not a bug in GDCM. This is a misconfiguration of VTK on Linux/i386.

 Reproducible bug can be found here:

 https://gdcm.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gdcm/Sandbox/debian-med/vtk/vtkidtype

 $ cat testidtype.cxx
 ...
 #include vtkStringArray.h

 int main()
 {
  vtkStringArray *s = vtkStringArray::New();
  s-GetValue( 0 );
  return 0;
 }
 ...

 This does not compile anymore with VTK 5.2 package on Linux/i386,
 while it used to compile using VTK 5.0 package (this is a regression).

 I'll submit the bug on libvtk5-dev.

 Package: wesnoth

 Severity: minor

 When playing with computer oponent (Default AI), with higher amount of
 units, Wesnoth decides very very long time, which unit should
 turn(like AI is thinking) with pretty high cpu load
 Maybe some wrong...

 Upstream is aware of that it can take quite some time in huger maps. If
you turn off the animations, sounds and showing of enemy turns it should
reduce the needed time a fair bit.

 Seems to me that it is problem of last upgrade

 If you mean with last upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6 instead of from 1.6.1 to
1.6.2 then yes. If you mean 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 it rather should be a bit
reduced again because upstream is actively working on reducing that kind
of stuff.

 What is your system, btw.? CPU? To get some useful informations about
it mentioning in what campaign/scenario/map you are experiencing the
issue together with a savegame could be helpful, too.

 So long!

Bug#528994: Acknowledgement (xserver-xorg-core: Corrupt mouse motion events send pointer to top-left of screen)

2009-05-18 Thread sand
Assuming that this xorg.conf option works properly

Option  AccelerationSchemenone

I don't think it's an acceleration bug. I grabbed the debugging
symbols package and attached to Xorg, and I was seeing the
pDev-last.valuators array getting zeroed out in GetPointerEvents,
(getevents.c) somewhere around this block of code:

events = updateFromMaster(events, pDev, num_events);

if (flags  POINTER_ABSOLUTE)
{
if (flags POINTER_SCREEN) /* valuators are in screen coords */
{

valuators[0] = rescaleValuatorAxis(valuators[0], NULL,
   pDev-valuator-axes + 0,
   scr-width);
valuators[1] = rescaleValuatorAxis(valuators[1], NULL,
   pDev-valuator-axes + 1,
   scr-height);
}

moveAbsolute(pDev, x, y, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators);
} else {
if (flags  POINTER_ACCELERATE)
accelPointer(pDev, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators, ms);
moveRelative(pDev, x, y, first_valuator, num_valuators, valuators);
}

That causes the code to add the deltas to 0,0 to get the next absolute
position.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly where this is happening, because of the
code optimization, but the updateFromMaster call now seems like the
next place to look.

Yeah. We want to have that functionality built into soup, though.

 A full build log can be found at:
 http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?arch=i386pkg=gdcmver=2.0.10-1

This is not a bug in GDCM. This is a misconfiguration of VTK on Linux/i386.

Reproducible bug can be found here:

https://gdcm.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gdcm/Sandbox/debian-med/vtk/vtkidtype

$ cat testidtype.cxx
...
#include vtkStringArray.h

int main()
{
  vtkStringArray *s = vtkStringArray::New();
  s-GetValue( 0 );
  return 0;
}
...

This does not compile anymore with VTK 5.2 package on Linux/i386,
while it used to compile using VTK 5.0 package (this is a regression).

I'll submit the bug on libvtk5-dev.

thanks !

Severity: wishlist

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi Dirk

it seems there exists a sprng4 (which uses the autoconf/automake/libtool) and
in debian only sprng2 is available.
Moreover it seems that sprng has support for MPI, would it be possible to add
mpi support ?

Unfortunately sprng has not been updated wrt recent version of g++ (4.3 and
4.4)

Best regards

Bug#528851: [jackd] Init script shouldn't fail if jackd not configured to start

2009-05-18 Thread Erich Schubert
Hello Adrian,
 Find attached a patch proposal. Does it fix your issue?

I don't have jackd installed anymore. It was only pulled in by potamus,
which I've uninstalled now (potamus also doesn't need jackd according to
it's description: it can use OSS or ALSA (via libao) for direct output,
or can work with JACK, so I've also filed
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=528850 requesting that
dependency to be loosened to a Suggests)

I was just rebooting a few times the last days because the intel drivers
are really unstable since the introduction of KVM and GEM, and was
irritated by the red failed messages during bootup or shutdown.

Regards,
Erich

With this message, I've forwarded the patch upstream and I'll include it

Bug#279422: Initial packaging available

2009-05-18 Thread Jeremy Lainé
As this bug hasn't seen any activity in a while, I am taking over
ownership of the bug. I have imported the packaging to the Debian Python
Modules Team's SVN repository:

http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/python-modules/packages/python-nltk/trunk/

An upload of NLTK 0.9.9 is on its way to experimental.

Cheers,
Jeremy

 I believe Socket::GetAddrInfo has already entered Debian unstable :-)
 My freshly updated apt-cache shows it (try apt-cache search

Ah. It appears on my i386 server, but not my amd64 desktop. Perhaps it
hasn't been built there yet? It is a binary one, so it'll have to go
through per-arch.

 After buying a new monitor (Dell 2209WA, running on 1680x1...@60hz) I am
 facing a severe problem when the monitor is connected via DVI: Whenever
 something happens on the screen (like moving windows, scrolling in the web
 browser, or output scrolls in a terminal, just to name examples), the monitor
 turns black for about 2 seconds, then it comes back. Sometimes its kind of
 harder to trigger, but most times it happens just all the time, rendering it
 completely useless. VGA works without problems, but is of course no solution.

 I thought that the card might be broken but it works using the propietary
 fglrx driver (I tried 1:9-2-2 from non-free testing). This is also no
 solution because -it's propietary -the version now in unstable does not
 support the card anymore -I don't want to use non-free packages.

Does:
Option DisplayPriority HIGH
in the device section of your config file fix it?

Bug#529296: mr: a --really-quiet option would be handy

2009-05-18 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Package: mr
Version: 0.39
Severity: wishlist

I use mr to keep a number of branches on my laptop up to date, so that I
can easily take my laptop and go hack, without having to remember to
copy everything manually onto it.

I run mr from cron. This works fine, since all branches I am mirroring
are publically available. I get an e-mail from cron every few hours,
which contains the output of mr. I have to scan this manually to see if
(and what) went wrong. Using the -q option does not significantly reduce
the amount of text I need to scan.

It would be really handy for me to have a --really-quiet option (by
whatever name), which would suppress all output, unless something went
wrong. Possibly just outputting a single line saying all went OK (and N
branches were updated). This way, I could spend a few less brain cycles
on dealing with this output.

Actually, now that I think of it, it might be possible to generalize
this: a command called something like
suppress-output-unless-there-was-an-error that would capture stdout and
stderr and print nothing if the command exited with 0, else print
everything.

Joey, would you prefer mr --really-quiet or a command to submit to
moreutils? I'd be happy to submit a patch for either.

I think this is real bug, and I plan to upload fixed version soon.

 should be stored as a character string of the form :MM:DD, while
 looking at the output from the program exiftool[1], for example,
 indicates that the date isn't stored in this format. Consider for
 example the output from the following commands:

thank you

Hi,

Here is a patch that seems to work for me. I don't know the package
super well so I couldn't do a lot of in-depth testing but everything I
did try seems to work. I filtered out all of the autoconf cruft so you
obviously need to autoreconf after applying this.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Barry deFreese

Bug#529299: [gnome-panel] Gnome panel doesn't show - gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -28 and height 24

2009-05-18 Thread Erich Schubert
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.26.0-1
Severity: important

Gnome-panel currently doesn't start right.
After login, it first came up right. I added a launcher where it froze when I
tried to change the launchers Icon.
Now gnome-panel doesn't show up anymore, the only thing I have in the logs is:

(gnome-panel:5105): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to
allocate widget with width -28 and height 24

(gnome-panel:5109): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to
allocate widget with width -28 and height 24

(gnome-panel:5112): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to
allocate widget with width -28 and height 24

(This is me trying to get gnome-panel to show up again by killing it, notice
the different PIDs)

How do I get my panel back?

sprng is, politely speaking, a mess.

I forced my way around sprng2 with some help from others (to make it create a

R with the snow (r-cran-snow) framework for distributed computing. I never
used sprng as a library.

I am aware that there are newer versions, and I have at times tried, and
failed, to package them. Would you like to tackle this jointly?

Otherwise, from R's side there is another parallel rng provided by
  http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rlecuyer/index.html

Pierre L'Ecuyer is quite well known for RNG work, maybe his code would
suitable for a general purpose library too ? I have been thinking about
packaging this and the retiring r-cran-rsprng and the sprng package.

Thought or comments?

Hi.

It seems to me there are plenty of copies of the nusoap PHP lib [0]
embedded in lots of packages :-/

NuSOAP provides a PHP SOAP server code which allows lots of applications
to expose some web service (WSDL, SOAP methods, etc.)

I'm not sure how to verify which packages are affected with a Debian
tool, btw... but
http://www.google.com/search?q=debian+filelist+nusoap.php+site:packages.debian.org

gives a first idea of the number...

I guess it may be better to have such a library in a separate package on
which the others would depend, although there may be counter arguments.
   I packaged it for my own purposes. If you interessted in it, let me know.

  Sure, as long as I could redistribute it ;)
 Attached is the unmodified orig source and my files to build the debian
 package. It's basically created by dh-make-pear. Use it as you like.

Excellent. Thanks alot.

I've adapted it and prepared a git repo containing all that in
http://git.debian.org/?p=users/olberger-guest/nusoap.git;a=tree

I hope you won't mind me putting this Debianization under the GNU GPL
(V3) ?

Bug#529298: ffado-tools: package descriptions are nearly useless

Package: ffado-tools
Severity: normal

Package descriptions which repeat package name are pretty useless. Please write
something more descriptive.

Bug#515324: Depends on GTK 1.2 and GLIB 1.2

2009-05-18 Thread Ola Lundqvist

Thanks a lot!

It could very well be so that you have used some other version of
something that made something different. I got a few warnings when I
run autoreconf so it could be because of that.

Hi Barry

Thanks a lot for the patch. However after applying it I get the following
error.

checking for gtk-config... no
checking for GTK - version = 1.2.0... no
*** The gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GTK_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to gtk-config.
configure: error: gled requires GTK+ 1.2.0 or higher.
make: *** [configure-stamp] Fel 1

I'm building on a lenny box so that could be the issue.

Feel free to NMU if you want.

tags 515324 + patch

thank you

Hi,

Here is a patch that seems to work for me. I don't know the
package super well so I couldn't do a lot of in-depth testing but
everything I did try seems to work. I filtered out all of the
autoconf cruft so you obviously need to autoreconf after applying
this.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Barry deFreese

Ola,

Let me take a look again. That doesn't look like enough so maybe I
didn't send the whole patch or something.

Thanks,

Barry
