IIRC, It will at the very least remove line number information. On source like
webkit, it means useless stack traces.

Bug#529564: cadaver: unable to handle files larger then 2GB

2009-05-19 Thread Andreas Unterkircher
Package: cadaver
Version: 0.23.2-1
Severity: normal

It seems cadaver has problems handling files larger then 2GB. Trying to upload
a local file via WebDAV results in an error:

Could not open file: File too large

Downloading a file via WebDAV which is larger then 2GB results in a locally
truncated file (as the download aborts) and an error message as soon as it has
transfered more then 2GB:

Could not write to file: File too large

Also the progress shows an negative value which most probably indicateѕ an
overrun:

Progress: [===>  ]  80.6% of -1631709184 bytes failed:

I found an untested patch here on the cadaver mailing list:

http://lists.manyfish.co.uk/pipermail/cadaver/2008-August/10.html

The local filesystem (xfs) is ok, it has no problems handling files larger then
2GB.

Regards,
Andreas

By default, roundcube is configured to send the contents of email to Google

the video chipset is:

and the content of my xorg.conf is:

Checking:

% ls -l /dev/vb*
crw-rw+ 1 root video 81, 224 May 19 10:45 /dev/vbi0
crw-rw+ 1 root video 81, 225 May 19 10:45 /dev/vbi1

/dev/vb0
% ls -l /dev/vb1
ls: cannot access /dev/vb1: No such file or directory

Well, the cause was a typo in one of my local setup scripts:

ln -fs /dev/vb$N /dev/vbidefault

(And so I've corrected that script. Not very often a maintainer fixes my
bug. Thanks!)

It should fail, it should... and yet, if the error message
read:

/dev/vb1: No such file or directory

...it wouldn't have confused me long, I could have tested it with
'ls -l' and might have immediately seen the problem. Needless to say
symlinks are files, (small files); the symlink '/dev/vbidefault'
did exist, so the current (indirect) error perplexed (me).

Well, the issue here is that it's a modified version, because otherwise
it could conflict with the PHP API (as Nusoap has the same class names).
What do you suggest us in this case?

Dear Maximiliano

(I'm not the Maintainer)

Indeed the Patch given by Lars Eric is for the debian source package,
to fix the debian/preinst script. To install openoffice.org-common at
the moment, you can "mkdir -p" the missing directory, then it should
work.

Hope that helps,

to be an indirect dependency via sasl, tools, webtool and observer.
So, I'll add suggests dependency of erlang-base (which includes sasl)
on erlang-tools and strong dependency of erlang-nox on erlang-os-mon.
Thanks for the report!

Cheers!

Bug#527963: Regression bug - xirc2ps_cs kernel module works under Etch, fails under Lenny

2009-05-19 Thread STEPHEN POWELL

In the process of collecting additional supporting data, I have
stumbled upon the problem. As mentioned
earlier, there are two laptops involved here. One runs
Etch (kernel 2.6.18) and the other runs Lenny (kernel 2.6.26).
The Compaq Netelligent 10/100 PC Card adapter works in the Etch
machine and fails in the Lenny machine. I concluded therefore
that something must have changed in the driver (xirc2ps_cs) between
Etch and Lenny that caused it to fail. Well, there are differences
in the driver between the two releases. But that's not the problem.
The problem turns out to be the Ethernet cable / dongle connection.

The cable that
runs to the Etch machine uses an older style of connector. The
cable that runs to the Lenny machine uses a newer style of connector.
The cable that runs to the Lenny machine has a flexible plastic
sheath around the back of the hard plastic snap clip. It is intended
to protect the hard plastic snap clip. In particular it is intended to
keep the hard plastic snap clip from snagging on something and breaking off
when the cable is being pulled out from under the floor, or otherwise
being treated roughly. The cable that runs to the Etch machine does not
have this protective plastic sheath.

As it turns out, the newer style of connector with the protective
plastic sheath does not mate securely with the RJ-45 connector in
the short patch cable, sometimes called a dongle, that transitions
from the miniature connector on the edge of the credit card adapter
to a standard RJ-45 connector, into which the Ethernet cable is
plugged. There is nothing wrong with the card. There is nothing
wrong with the patch cable (dongle). There is nothing wrong with
the Ethernet cable. But the patch cable (dongle) does not mate
properly with that kind of Ethernet cable. Substituting a different
Ethernet cable with the older style of connector (no protective
plastic sheath) solved the problem.

In other words, it's a hardware problem, not a software problem.
Sorry to bother you.

Bug#529555: onlyif + unless precedence

onlyif
If this parameter is set, then this exec will only run if the command returns 0.
unless
If this parameter is set, then this exec will run unless the command returns 0.

So, If I specify something like:
  exec {
"rm /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz":
  onlyif => "test -L /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz",
  unless => "stat -L /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz",
  path => "/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin";
  }

Or what if x-window-manager.1.gz doesn't exist? The onlyif and unless commands
both return non-zero. the unless parameter says to run the exec command, but
the onlyif says not to run it.

Bug#529554: onlyif/unless as metaparameters

2009-05-19 Thread Jayen Ashar
Package: puppet
Version: 0.24.7-2
Severity: wishlist

I'd like to make a rule to remove a dead link. I'd like to use the file type
as follows:
  file {
"/usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz":
  ensure => absent,
  onlyif => "test -L /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz && (stat -L
/usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz; [ $? != 0 ])";
  }

instead of the exec type, as I am doing now:
  exec {
"rm /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz":
  onlyif => "test -L /usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz && (stat -L
/usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz; [ $? != 0 ])",
  path => "/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin";
  }

This could be doable if onlyif was a metaparameter.

Why not improve dpkg-scanpackages instead? What is there missing that

Bug#529358: mailscanner: MailScanner dies an ugly death when using perl 5.10.0-22

2009-05-19 Thread Mark Presling
I just experienced this problem after an update this morning on squeeze.
The APT upgrade installed a new version of perl:

# dpkg -l perl
ii perl 5.10.0-22
# dpkg -l mailscanner
ii mailscanner4.74.16-1

Afterwards, debugging mailscanner showed it dying with the error message
"Insecure dependency in chown while running with the -T switch in
/usr/share/MailScanner//MailScanner/Message.pm on line 2407". It appears
to be while calling the perl chown function to set the permissions on an
exploded message in the "incoming" work directory.

There were also a number of problems appearing with loading custom
functions, such as MailWatch logging and white/black list as well as
calling the various exploders, etc while processing the email.

After doing some digging I found out about the Perl Taint Mode. Although
the -T param is not explicitly set in /etc/init.d/mailscanner it seems
that Perl will automcatically turn on taint mode. From
http://perldoc.perl.org/perlsec.html:
"Perl automatically enables a set of special security checks, called
/taint mode/, when it detects its program running with differing real
and effective user or group IDs."

After much head banging I finally tried adding --chuid postfix:postfix
(the user/group set in Run As in MailScanner.conf) to the
start-stop-daemon call in /etc/init.d/mailscanner. Eg,
start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --nicelevel $run_nice --chuid
postfix:postfix --exec $DAEMON --name $NAME -- $DAEMON_ARGS

I hope this is of some help, as it is now working fine for me!

Mark

Bug#528708: Not completely fixed upstream in 7.4.2

2009-05-19 Thread Daniel Schepler
I just tried compiling and installing Mesa 7.4.2 (copied the debian/ directory
from 7.4.1-1 into an unpacked copy of 7.4.2, and added a 7.4.2-0 version to
debian/changelog). It does fix the crashes with the Qt OpenGL examples --
although with the textures example and a couple others, when I exit I get

Mesa 7.4.2 implementation error: invalid reference to a deleted texture object
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org
textures: main/texobj.c:305: _mesa_reference_texobj: Assertion
`valid_texture_object(oldTex)' failed.
Aborted

But with the application I'm developing I still get the condition where
glGetString(GL_VERSION) returns NULL in my override of
QGLWidget::initializeGL. I haven't been able to reproduce that condition with
any small programs trying to replicate the basic setup of the application, and
wondered if anybody else might have any idea how I could try to see what's
going on.

Hi,

in effect this seems to be a problem fixed by upgrading to Qt 4.5.1. Could you

But doesn't this put the whole menu into the dir file? Is this the way it's
supposed to be? Shouldn't this be just one entry listing tora instead?

Hmm, this works for me. Does a ps show /usr/sbin/acpid running on your system?
With the unchanged init script it should.

With you change however, you have to rely on the PATH being set so
start-stop-daemon finds acpid to start it.

Does does even make less sense that your other bug.

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/unopkg (that's what called in those
postrm scripts) is a wrapper script for unopkg.bin, yes,
but that one is in openoffice.org-core. At the same place since ages.
And as we see below, openoffice.org-core is installed.

Of course, they all have to use use unopkg to (de-)register themselves. But
do so also since ages.

As said in your other bug, I only can believe your system is broken.

Rene

Makes no sense. The -evolution which does rely on this file location
does depend on openoffice.org-core (= 1:3.1.0-2). And so this
should be present when openoffice.org-evolutions postinst runs.

Here we see that the matching -core is installed.

Do you happen to have a *full* log of the upgrade?

Currently the only thing I could assume is a broken system.

Bug#529542: debbugs: please upload the new version

2009-05-19 Thread Francesco Poli (t1000)
Package: debbugs
Version: 2.4.1
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

I would have never thought that I would find myself filing a
"please package new upstream version" wishlist bug against
a Debian native package! ;-)

Nonetheless, here I am: the Debian BTS is a great bug tracking system
with many useful and nice features. It is completely Free Software,
released under the terms of the GNU GPL v2.
All this wonderful bug tracking system is deployed on bugs.debian.org,
and has been improved many times, as far as I can see, in the last
few years.
Yet, the engine behind all this, that is to say debbugs, is not included
in Debian, or, to be more precise, *is* included, but in a heavily
outdated version, correct me if I'm wrong: last upload was performed
in 2003, as far as I can see.

I think this situation is awkward: an updated debbugs version should be
made easy to install on Debian boxes, so that other organizations could
easily benefit from the advanced features of the Debian BTS engine,
should they choose to deploy it for their infrastructure.

Please upload a new version (and begin doing so more regularly!).
This upload would close a huge amount of pending bugs, among other
nice effects.

Thanks for considering.

Bug#529541: emacs22-common: Emacs in vc-hg breaks when run as root with 'wrong-type-argument number-or-marker-p nil'

2009-05-19 Thread Zed Pobre
Package: emacs22-common
Version: 22.3+1-1
Severity: normal

I'm scratching my head over this one. On the same system, with
identical .emacs files in /root and in /home/zed, if I edit a file in a
mercurial directory as user zed, I'm fine. If I become root and then
run, or even sudo, emacs on a file in a version-controlled directory, it
breaks with the following backtrace:

Debugger entered--Lisp error: (wrong-type-argument number-or-marker-p nil)
  logand(nil 128)
  vc-mode-line("/root/test.txt")
  vc-find-file-hook()

  find-file-noselect-1(# "~/test.txt" nil nil "~/test.txt" nil)
  find-file-noselect("~/test.txt" nil nil t)
  find-file("~/test.txt" t)
  call-interactively(find-file)

I checked the environment variables between the two to see if I could
find something interesting, and didn't. I diffed the *Messages* buffer
on both to see if one was loading something that the other wasn't, and
nothing. Neither home directory has a .hgrc file. The mercurial
version on this system is 1.2. I can't replicate the error on a Lenny
box with Mercurial 1.0.1 and Emacs 22.2, even with the same .emacs
file.

I hope you have some idea of what's going on here.

Package: www.debian.org
Severity: important

About two weeks ago, a security-related update for 'xpdf' appeared
in aptitude's Security Updates section. Pressing 'C' to see what the issue
was, aptitude informed me that it couldn't fetch the changelog. This has
continued to be the case for the last two weeks.

Just a day or so ago, 'linux-source-2.6.26' appeared in the Security
Updates section, but its changelog is also missing.

Please investigate this matter.

I am not really knowledgeable about SONAME issues, so what I am going
to say could be naive (or even totally wrong and stupid!).
Would the following actions solve the problem?

 a) a new sqlite3 version is uploaded with a SONAME bump
 b) all depending packages are then forced to be updated and
re-uploaded in order to accommodate for the SONAME bump

Please explain me why these actions are not enough to solve the problem.

rpm is an example of package that needs fixing, as far as I understand.

Hello,

This looks like a bug in libexif, gpscorrelate only manipulates image files

bad symlinks handling.

Well, for me it will be writing to a temporary file, and then renaming it.

Well, yes, but it tries to create a config dir inside /var/lib/openoffice/share
which of course fails when /var/lib/openoffice/share does not exist.

Indeed the submitter is right and mkdir -p is the right fix.

Hi,

this seems to be amd64-only as I haven't been able to reproduce it in

I'll check with upstream.

This has been fixed in upstream git by using the statvfs(2) system call
directly, rather than calling /bin/df and then parsing its output
(which is always potentially broken, since df can fold its output over
multiple lines if the path is too long, even if BLOCK_SIZE is set
correctly).

Bug#529531: geeqie: "Create folder" under "move" should select new folder

2009-05-19 Thread ben
Package: geeqie
Version: 1.0~alpha3-5
Severity: wishlist

When I select some files, right-click, and say "move", and then say
"New folder", I can create a folder. It's very nice--if I've entered
the name of a folder that doesn't exist, that name is moved into the
new folder's name. But then:

Desired behaviour: Create folder and add it to the target path.

Actual behaviour: Create folder. If folder name was copied from
target path below, it is removed from target path when it is
created. I always have to remember to double-click it (or re-enter
its name below) before it appears in the target path. Tedious!

Thanks for the great software!

Yes, I noticed this bug just this week mixed in with the other debian-x
traffic but thanks for drawing my attention to it, it's easy to miss
stuff in the flood.

There's a new upstream release which needs packaging (and I guess omits
the asm/page.h include since I didn't notice any failures). I've been
working on it and it's pretty much done, just need to finalise it. I was
hoping to find an evening this week but it looks like next is more
likely at this point.

I checked. hosts_require_tls appears twice, both times in a transport stanza
(once for remote_smtp and once for remote_smtp_smarthost).

I don't think I changed the configuration in between changing which version of
Exim I had installed.

Bug#529517: gpscorrelate: Fails if directory not writable

2009-05-19 Thread Toby Speight
It's worse than that - as you might suspect from needing a writable
directory, it replaces the file. After first truncating it! So all the
other hard-links to the processed files are broken, and I've got a bunch
now zero-length files where the other links to the pictures used to be
:-(

I'd really, really like it to write to the target files in-place, as it
should by the Principle of Least Surprise.

The ivtv driver needs rebuilding against the new xserver-xorg-dev.
Unfortunately src/ivtv_hw.c includes (for no reason) and
the driver ftbfs because that file doesn't exist so this can't be done
with binary NMUs. Dropping the #include allows it to build. Ian, can
you update the package in git?

Thanks,

Bug#529528: vym: cannot undo accidental removal of the root node; crash while going to another map an back again

2009-05-19 Thread Antonio Terceiro
Package: vym
Version: 1.12.2-2

If I remove the root not of a map by accident, I cannot undo this
operation (i.e. I lose my work). Also, if I have more than one map
opened at the same time, if I click the other map's tab, and go back to
the first map (from which I accidentally removed the root node and thus
the entire map), vym crashes.

Bug#526406: xfs

2009-05-19 Thread Alex Samad
Hi

Yeah i am thinking its a xfs problem as well, most of the crashes I am
getting are when i touch XFS via nfs, doing local xfs stuff seems to be
okay - if i was to guess i would say also only on writes

I might try going back to 28.7

have you posted anything on the kernel mailing list

Hi,

I'll try to provide one, but I don't think that I'll find the time for
it until next Sunday.
