Bug#533842: JFS: fsck should not be skipped on battery power
Nico Schottelius wrote: Package: jfsutils Version: 1.1.12-2 Severity: important When booting the notebook on battery, Debians fsck-logic prevents running fsck, which is a major fault on JFS, because the journal replay is done in fsck.jfs. Thus skipping fsck.jfs for the root filesystems results in a unusable system, because / is still mounted read only (and can only be mounted r/w if the fsck went through). Therefore fsck.jfs must be run in any case, independent of battery power or not. Do you know which part of the boot process determines whether running fsck or not? Bug#402340: installing xulrunner does NOT fix that problem
Hi guys, installing xulrunner does NOT fix that problem. Adding two rows of code to /usr/bin/eclipse to enable support for icedove's libgtkembedmoz.so and installing icedove fixes the problem. Using http://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=contentskeywords=libgtkembedmoz.somode=filenamesuite=unstablearch=any you could find other locations holding libgtkembedmoz.so, too. I've attached a patch to solve the issue with icedove's directory. Please fix that or create a common package which holds libgtkembedmoz.so for all those projects providing or requesting it. Bug#533874: openoffice.org-calc: Unable to open an URL in iceweasel
Package: openoffice.org-calc Version: 1:3.1.0-5 Severity: normal Hi, Since 3.1 calc is unable to open an url from an hyperlink entry in my default www-broser defined by sensible-browser. Apparently openoffice-writer is opened instead and then crash. Doing an strace like this : strace -s 80 -a 132 -fo log oocalc file.ods and then grepping for open-url return nothing. I was able to solve this problem by exporting BROWSER=iceweasel but since -5 this doesn't work. If I remove the openoffice.org-writer package then the url is opened in iceweasel. Bug#533883: ITP: libjaminid-java -- Small and fast daemon for Java applications
Package: wnpp Owner: Rail Aliev r...@i-rs.ru Severity: wishlist * Package name: libjaminid-java Version : 0.99a Upstream Author : Constantinos Michael cmic...@cs.jhu.edu * URL : http://jaminid.sourceforge.net/ * License : LGPL Programming Lang: Java Description : Small and fast daemon for Java applications jaminid is a very small (and fast) daemon meant to embed in Java applications as an add-on HTTP interface. There are many advantages to using jaminid in your programs: * Couples the server as closely as possible to the application. * Can easily provide an elegant interface, in a style of programming that is not at all harder than traditional console I/O. * May be used to attach a thin client interface to pre-existing applications with ease. * Enables HTTP deployment without developing an HTTP daemon or knowledge of the protocols. * The server can bundle with the application removing the need of a third party server. This makes the application easier to distribute. * Does not require knowledge of any other scripting language. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#487546: [Build-common-hackers] Bug#487546: cdbs: class/langcore.mk should set CC=gcc if CC is not set
On Wednesday 17 June 2009 10:32:01 Martin-Éric Racine wrote: On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 1:58 PM, Peter Eisentrautpete...@gmx.net wrote: On Sunday 22 June 2008 18:11:39 Martin-Éric Racine wrote: class/langcore.mk sets -g -Wall -O2 without checking whether CC can actualy process these options. For instance, -g produces output that is partially GDB-specific. On most GNU software, autotools perform these check for us and set CC=gcc autogamically. On other software, CC is often left unset. This is mostly okay on a Debian system, because the presumption is that CC=gcc, but we can never be sure of what parallel compilers, etc. someone might run, so it would be desirable for class/langcore.mk to set CC=gcc is it is unset. Do you have a concrete counterexample where the current code does not work? In the case where an upstream tarball comes with a single C file and no Makefile, the only option a maintainer has is to create a manual build target in debian/rules to compile the binary and to include class/langcore.mk to always use the standard Debian build options. However, class/langcore.mk includes GNU-specific options without checking that the compiler supports them (or at least setting CC=gcc to ensure that it does), so the build is not guaranteed to succeed. After further reflection, I think we should change something here. I turns out that /usr/bin/cc is an alternative, and so we cannot assume that it is gcc. And although it is not explicitly spelled out in the policy, the build essential list strongly hints that packages are supposed to be built with gcc by default. So I think it would be easy and safe to set CC = gcc near where we set CFLAGS, and the same for C++. Another advantage of this would be that packages built with cdbs don't use a different compiler invocation than those built without. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#533894: initramfs-tools: add support for virtio modules for netbooting
Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.93.3 Severity: wishlist The virtio_pci module is in the 'base' class already (which is relevant for MODULES=netboot together with class 'net'). Though not all available and necessary virtio drivers are used - therefore it's not possible to for example boot via PXE in a KVM virtualiziation environment. It would be nice to have the full list of virtio drivers (virtio_blk, virtio_net, virtio_pci and virtio_balloon) included in MODULES=most and MODULES=netboot. A build environment using a different C compiler than the default gcc as cc is broken with respect to Package compilation. (I believe that to be in Policy somewhere too). I do not see it as the task of CDBS to fix/overrule broken build environments. - Jonas - -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist og Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ [x] quote me freely [ ] ask before reusing [ ] keep private -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEAREDAAYFAko+HCkACgkQn7DbMsAkQLh/CACeJUcUPFXEjL7ZTPPjCGwvXZsY RbgAnAmMkVNR944byYraY/XxpFByL4XE =Pn/4 -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Thanks, looks like a bug in the ALSA bluetooth module. can you reproduce with bluez 4 in unstable? filippo Hi Filippo, The problem is still there but this is the real issue; The bluez developers found a critical bug in the alsa api system that makes audio systems crash in some situation on i368 and on powerpc or arm it will not even work. So the bluez developers decided together with the alsa developpers to force a more stricture api use to fix the crashes. The result; correctly totem-xine does not even work anymore with bluez and alsa. If you reverse the patch on the bluez code that allow the incorrect alsa use then the behavior described in the original bug report will occur. Bug#531090: bla
reassign 531090 linux-image-2.6.30-1-486 thanks This also happens with 2.6.30-1-486. However after resume, there's a series of kernel oopses on the console, which unfortunately didn't go to any logfile (0 pointer dereference in the kernel), directly after reinitialization of opl3sa2. Also it appears that other subsystems of the kernel stopped working properly as well, since I wasn't able to 'less /var/log/syslog' and reboot (I had to alt-sysrq-sync/umount and then hold the off-switch for 4 seconds). So this is a lot worse with 2.6.30 than with 2.6.29. Since I had no other way of capturing those logs, I took a series of actual photographs of the kernel messages on the console. Please tell me if you want to look at them. And of course I'll happily provide any other information that might be helpful. Looks like I'll be downgrading to 2.6.22 or the highest kernel that does not exhibit this bug. This may be due to the new kernel or new util-linux in unstable, but it is now freeing the loop devices correctly. It must be in the new util-linux, because it's putting the loop device, rather than the loopback filename, as the source in /etc/mtab such that it always matches /proc/mounts. Previously they differed, and this resulted in the loop device not being freed when the loop device was used. This is no longer the case. (I'm not familiar with the util-linux source, but I can't actually see this change and it /looks/ like it uses the old behaviour, but this may be just a special case for certain use cases. The observed behaviour is what we want though!) Dmitry, can you confirm this on your system? Your bug report shows you are using stable; do you have a system running unstable you can check on (or if anyone else can check this as I have above?) Since this was IIRC the only blocker for #494001 (replacing /etc/mtab with a symlink), it looks like this can now go ahead if anyone else can confirm the loop issue is fixed. Regards, Roger -- .''`. Bug#533903: initramfs-tools: support different compression tools in mkinitramfs

Something like COMPRESSION=[gzip|bzip2|lzma] in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf should provide that. This results in an error that was a PITA to track down, and requires running gst-launch with --gst-debug avdtpsink:5 at minimum, resulting in (among other things) these lines: 0:00:02.785764000 127660xa8620 WARN avdtpsink gstavdtpsink.c:1358:gst_avdtp_sink_set_channel_mode:avdtpsink Received invalid channel mode: joint-stereo 0:00:02.795341000 127660xa8620 ERRORavdtpsink gstavdtpsink.c:987:gst_avdtp_sink_init_mp3_pkt_conf:avdtpsink No info about channel mode received, can't proceed 0:00:02.798054000 127660xa8620 ERRORavdtpsink gstavdtpsink.c:1051:gst_avdtp_sink_configure:avdtpsink Couldn't parse caps to packet configuration look at lines 152 and 153 in gst-plugins-ugly0.10-0.10.10/gst/mpegaudioparse/gstmpegaudioparse.c, and compare it to lines 283 and 287 in bluez-utils-3.36/audio/gstavdtpsink.c what these lines are like? next time please report them :) I made the change by hand to gst-plugins-ugly, however I don't know which one deserved to be changed (I suppose gstreamer is the authoratative source, so maybe I should have changed bluez?) what have you changed? does this still happens with bluez 4 from unstable? thanks, filippo -- Filippo Giunchedi - http://esaurito.net - 0x6B79D401 I get mail, therefore I am. -- Dilbert -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
