--- Begin Message ---
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

darcs-monitor_0.3.6-2_amd64.deb: package says section is devel, override says
vcs.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and
explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we
won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information.

Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the
following format:

Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority

Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please.

Bug#529540: Changelogs Missing on Security Updates

2009-10-29 Thread Leo L. Schwab
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal

Okay, so, after reading the entire thread on this bug (yes, I should
have done that first), it seems that the changelogs are always present in
the package proper, they're just not always up to date on the server. The
tone of the response suggests this is considered not a problem.

I dissent.

When you press 'C' in aptitude to view the changelog for a package,
aptitude goes to packages.debian.org to snarf it down and show it to you.
This seems a perfectly reasonable way to go about it, and it also seems
perfectly reasonable to want to view the changelog before downloading a
potentially large package update. However, I confess complete ignorance on
the difficulties of keeping packages.debian.org humming along.

If it is indeed unreasonable to expect the changelogs on the server
to be in sync with the packages, then should I instead be filing a
enhancement request against 'aptitude', so it will fish the changelog out of
the packages proper?

Schwab

Bug#546301: Bugfix for heap corruption

Hi,

I encountered the same problem a few days ago and was able to identify
the reason for that kind of memory corruption. A function for string
quoting miscalculates the available buffer space and subsequently called
helper functions start to overwrite data belonging to the memory
management.

This might also fix the memory corruption reported in bug #533040

The following patch solved the problem for me:

I am sure, I even have it working perfectly since the first beta of KDE 4.1.

It is most surely a problem in your gpg.conf.

Without some more information about your setup (even just the full
Xorg.0.log file), I assume your problem is already fixed upstream with a
KMS/DRI2 setup. The game certainly works on my PowerBook with such a
setup.

Meanwhile it may be worth playing with different values above 50 for the
X driver Option "FBTexPercent", but I'm afraid your hardware may just
have too little VRAM to allow warzone2100 to run with a DRI1 setup.

Hello Michel,

I tried adding Option "FBTexPercent" "32" (as my iBook 12" has 32M of
videoram - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP43 ) and the game now runs. But
it is all blue...

I attached my Xorg.0.log just in case.

I don't expect the game to run on this acient HW but I didn't expect
segfaulting it either. I would expect something like "not enough
videoram" or just run it very slow as it does now.

So thank you very much.

Hello,

I believe I have the same issue after recent gnome upgrade which uses
mutter. When my desktop strts up everytjing is in very strange colors,

glitches shows up.

Unless you get wrong colours in all OpenGL applications, e.g. even in
glxgears as mentioned by the reporter of this bug (which is BTW specific
to swrast_dri.so, which you're probably not using or mutter either
wouldn't work at all or would likely be unusably slow in the first
place), it's probably not the same issue.

Hello Michel,

I tried running glxgears and I get them in wrong colors (everything is
to blue, background is blue instead of black). But if you say this is
specific to some file...

I also tried running mutter with --no-composite but no change. Right now
I don't know if it is related to this bug or not. Do you suggest I try
something?

Bug#552413: bacula-common-sqlite3: No database upgrade from version 10 to 11.

David L. Anselmi wrote:

automatically.

You can fix that with something along the lines of

echo .dump | sqlite2 bacula.db.sqlite2 | sqlite3 bacula.db.sqlite

This is from memory; a better recipe is probably in the preinst for
bacula-sqlite3. I will try to look into why this happened next week.

Thanks for the quick response. Here's what's seemed to work (run as the
bacula user in /var/lib/bacula):

sqlite bacula.db.sqlite2 .dump \
  | sed 's/ INTEGER UNSIGNED AUTOINCREMENT,/ INTEGER,/' \
  | sqlite3 bacula.db
/usr/share/bacula-director/update_sqlite3_tables

Hope that helps anyone else with this problem. I'll try to look at the
bacula-director-sqlite3.postinst to see what went wrong.

Bug#549980: backported patch

2009-10-29 Thread James Cameron
The attached patch applied to the /etc/perl/GNUpod/SysInfo.pm file
installed by gnupod-tools package version 0.99.7-2 fixes the hang for
me.

The patch was derived from the 0.99.7 to 0.99.8 patch set in git.

It was odd, but the package also provides a SysInfo.pm file in
/usr/share/perl5/GNUpod/SysInfo.pm ... which I didn't need to change.

This sounds better as an external command you would run at this part of a

be willing to work on something like this. See the last two messages of bug

Bug#553308: disable dailystrips-update

2009-10-29 Thread Ariel
Package: dailystrips
Version: 1.0.28-9

You should either disable the dailystrips-update program, or point it to a
fresher defs file.

If someone runs it, it should simply exit with a message, and it should delete
the local defs file.

I've been running it for probably a year without realizing it made things much
worse.

Upstream is dead. There is no reason to keep around this program.

Either disable it, or host a defs file for people.

If you don't have a source control location, then:
http://code.google.com/projecthosting/
is a good place to host the defs file.

Bug#551775: bitlbee: Uninstallable package due to conflict with libc6

2009-10-29 Thread Ryan Tandy

Hi,

I'm a bitlbee user on the armel arch and have encountered this bug.
While the 1.2.4-1+b1 upload of bitlbee has fixed the libc6 dependencies
on some arches, the dependency is still incorrect on armel:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
bitlbee: Depends: libc6 (< 2.10) but 2.10.1-3 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

I apologize if the purpose of the +b1 upload was not to fix this bug. I
don't know where to find a changelog for it since the source package
hasn't been bumped.

One more thing while digging throught he code. Maybe using the
transaction feature would be nice. For insert/updates a transaction
is started.

If this is possible for the delete, too, one could set the transactions size
with --sqlite-transaction-size=100 and then in fact only one
time the whole stuff would be committed, AFAIU.

I added some debug statements to the source code and it seems that
this is the reason.

So I want to work on a patch that merges the deletes into one.

Only one question, if one of you has some experience with sql (as
I don't). How does one specify a LIST of ids to be removed in a
single sql statement?

Or can we just collect severat sql statements and execute them in one
go?

makes use of its autoconf-based build system but arranges for
libfltk1.1-dev to ship a /usr/lib/fltk containing files for use by
packages that build with cmake, including in particular the
(artificial) CMakeCache.txt whose source set Lintian off. (See
#333245 and #437967 for details.) In principle, the copy in debian/
could have a different name, but I'd rather still call it
CMakeCache.txt because that's the most natural choice.

There are various clues that this particular CMakeCache.txt is
artificial:

- Its location (in debian/ rather than directly alongside any upstream
  files).
- The fact that a binary package proceeds to ship a copy.
- Its contents. A real CMakeCache.txt would contain a header of the
  general form

# This is the CMakeCache file.
# For build in directory: ...
# It was generated by CMake: /usr/bin/cmake
# You can edit this file to change values found and used by cmake.
# If you do not want to change any of the values, simply exit the editor.
# If you do want to change a value, simply edit, save, and exit the editor.
# The syntax for the file is as follows:
# KEY:TYPE=VALUE
# KEY is the name of a variable in the cache.
# TYPE is a hint to GUI's for the type of VALUE, DO NOT EDIT TYPE!.
# VALUE is the current value for the KEY.

possibly with some variations depending on the precise CMake version
that produced it, and also contain some CMAKE_* settings such as

CMAKE_CACHEFILE_DIR:INTERNAL=...

  whereas fltk1.1's debian/CMakeCache.txt does neither.

Lintian maintainers, please exempt it on at least one of those
grounds.

Thanks!

Bug#553271: python-pyx: import failing because of missing link to mesh.py in /usr/lib/python2.*/site-packages/pyx

2009-10-29 Thread Stuart Prescott

Hi Johann,

Thanks for the report. This looks decidedly like a bug in python-central:

http://bugs.debian.org/479852

although there is some discussion as to whether each separate package should
work around this bug itself or if python-central should deal with this
situation.

Can you confirm for me that you previously had python-pyx installed and that
this was an upgrade from a version 0.10-0+nmu1 or earlier? (i.e. not a fresh
installation)

The directory where you found all the pyx files
( /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/pyx) actually should be empty with this
package now; pyx should be found in /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/pyx/.
If you upgraded from the 0.9 version, then you could well have a very strange
mix of 0.9 and 0.10 in there. In any case, running

pycentral pkgremove python-pyx

should clean up that directory (it should
remove /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/pyx/ in fact), leaving you with a working
pyx installation.

I have an updated package ready to do this automatically on upgrade but want
to make sure that I understand the problem first.

regards
Stuart

"This makes sure the script runs with the system perl and not the new one."

Note that one of the reasons why perl has a slightly eccentric rules
file is so that the package is able to be built on a system without
any perl installed. This was to allow new ports to bootstrap and is
the reason why ./perl.static is used in that file rather than
/usr/bin/perl. It is entirely possible that bit-rot has made this no
longer work, but it is still a useful goal to retain.

See debian/checkperl, which is invoked for the install rule.

Bug#553301: sbuild: should display version from packages already installed on the chroot

2009-10-29 Thread Felipe Sateler
Package: sbuild
Version: 0.59.0-1
Severity: wishlist

Sometimes, a build failure is caused by a change introduced in one of
the build-dependencies. It would help to see which versions of the
packages are already installed in the chroot to identify these (and
maybe build-conflicts). I think a simple dpkg -l before installing
build-deps woud suffice.

Bug#552417: dmraid: Unable to mount volume group on kernel 2.6.30

2009-10-29 Thread Douglas Baldwin
Well, I purged dmraid, installed mdadm, upgraded to grub2, stayed awake all
night learning mdadm/grub2/lvm2, and now have stable system that is
rebuilding its mirrors and running 2.6.30-2. I had originally installed
Lenny in May 2008, and I kept updating and then upgraded to Squeeze. All
was fine until 2.6.30. I suppose that the issue might have been related to
grub.lst, which could have been properly configured for 2.6.26, but then
somehow was automagically corrupted for 2.6.30 (just speculation, didn't
specifically look into this). Sorry, but at this point my system is
probably not very useful for diagnostics...

Bug#552592: 答复: 答复: new debian mirror from beijing china

2009-10-29 Thread Andrew Lee
Hi Wang,

(cc to your mirror submission on BTS)

The "push" mode doesn't mean the data are all pushed, instead it only
push a trigger to tell your server to run the ftpsync script on your
server to pull data immediately after ftp.tw's archive has been updated.

I hope you can read the push mirror explanation again on

http://www.debian.org/mirror/push_mirroring

carefully and make sure you understand it, and then check if it's really
violate your company's global security polices.

You can increase the rsync frequency to keep the data to be the most
newly updated if you want, but unfortunately this way won't qulified to
be added to the official debian mirror list.

Please let me know if you have problem to understand the explanation and
instruction. I may help you to understand them in Chinese if necessary.

-Andrew

Since policy has no way to specify unlimited, I assume this behavior is
intentional. I suppose debhelper can support it.

Perhaps we can wait to see if there is any use case for this before
worrying about it? Only use case I can think of is a package that
somehow builds using two dh_auto_builds, and can do it in parallel.
Something like:

build: build-foo build-bar

build-foo:
cd foo && dh_auto_build

build-bar:
cd bar && dh_auto_build

Here parallel=4 would cause up to 8 concurrent jobs to run,
which is too many. So you might do:

build: build-foo build-bar

export MAKEFLAGS=-j4

build-foo:
+cd foo && dh_auto_build --max-parallel=-1

build-bar:
+cd bar && dh_auto_build --max-parallel=-1

Now the two builds would run, sharing a jobserver.

But isn't this a clearer way to do the same thing?

build: build-foo build-bar

export MAKEFLAGS=-j4 # really, calculate from DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS

build-foo:
$(MAKE) -C foo

build-bar:
$(MAKE) -C bar

(It also has the bonus of working, since dh_auto_build
will fail if foo/debian/control doesn't exist.)

Bug#553298: libcpuset1: cpuset_*() functions coredump with an empty /dev/cpuset

Version: 1.0-1
Severity: important

I've got a full writeup in the libtorque issue tracker at:

  http://dank.qemfd.net/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14

Essentially, if one mounts the cpuset/cgroup filesystem at /dev/cpuset,
but doesn't then create a cpuset explicitly, any cpuset_() function will
engage in undefined behavior (usually manifesting for me as a core).
Creating and entering a cpuset resolves the issue.

Bug#553299: nstx: Does not support cross-endianness

2009-10-29 Thread Samuel Thibault
Package: nstx
Version: 1.1-beta6-5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

My laptop is x86 and my router is Big-endian Mips. nstx doesn't work
very well in that case just because of endianness which flips the fields
of the nstxhdr structure around. The 12bit length field makes it even
more tricky.

In the attached patch, I have just increased the id size to 16 to
make it easier to just revert the fields. I don't know whether nstx
considers cross-version compatibility? In such case my patch won't be
ok, of course, and send/reception bitmagic will be needed instead.

Bug#553297: nstx: Uses non-standard '_' in domain names

2009-10-29 Thread Samuel Thibault
Package: nstx
Version: 1.1-beta6-5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

Hello,

nstx uses base64 encoding, which produces '_' characters, which is not
valid in a domain name. To get more DNS server coverage, I have patched
my version into using base32, here is my (tested) patch, in case it can
be useful more broadly.

Samuel

Bug#553296: gitignore broken completely

2009-10-29 Thread Klaus Ethgen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Package: git-core
Version: 1:1.6.5.2-1
Severity: important

The most recent git in debian has a broken ignore handling. Let me show
it on a example:
 > mkdir gittest
 > cd gittest
 > git init
 > touch a
 > git add a
 > git commit -m commit
 > git ls-files -i --exclude-standard

The last command will show the file a (as it would show every file as
being ignored, every which is in the index!). But that command should
show nothing at that point.

Let me go on:
 > touch b
 > git add b
 > git commit -m commit2
 > echo b > .gitignore
 > git ls-files -i --exclude-standard

As mention above that command will show a and b but only b should be
shown.

As this is a very essential part of git I think that is a very critical
bug but severity important should be correct.

As a developer and maintainer of a Debian based live system (mainly
for sysadmins and therefore often used for rescue tasks) I'm
wondering what users without (full) control over the systems they
are investigating are supposed to do to avoid this situation?

Bug#553294: ngspice: hardcopy of plot outputs unrecognized file

2009-10-29 Thread Andres Cimmarusti
Package: ngspice
Version: 19-1
Severity: important

I have built ngspice for my system using the debianized squeeze source.
I've been using it successfully so far except that when I make plots,
and I click on the hardcopy button available to convert them into files
I can keep, I get a file hcx (x is a five-digit number) without
any extension and I haven't been able to open them in any way. I tried
printing it right away and got gibberish.

plot db(out)
The file "/tmp/hc13754" may be printed with the Unix "plot"
command, or by using the '-g' flag to the Unix lpr command.

Bug#551104: kernel-package: "make-kpkg (binary-arch|kernel_image)" generates xenu pkg

Debian kernels (at least amd64 ones) have CONFIG_XEN but don't have
CONFIG_XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST in /boot/config-*. Users get really confused, when
using that config and make-kpkg results in a xenu package.

CONFIG_XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST seems to have been entirely removed, grep finds
files containing this only in the debian subdir.

Grrr, it turned out on the system I did dpkg -L wasn't the latest httping
version installed. The new version has switched to debhelper 7 magic and it
seems this is installing the documentation in that directory. Thanks for
letting me know!

I can't immediately spot what's going on here, but as an additional note
the experimental tag also only appears when info tags are enabled.
Using -E / --display-experimental on its own doesn't cause the tag to be
emitted.

Bug#553288: kdelibs5: add r1033984 to fix various crashes

2009-10-29 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.3.2-2
Severity: normal

By introducing r1032787 (which is done with patch
01_r1032787_khtml_show_hide_fix.diff, another bug was introduced [1].
Now some application windows crash on closing, so some currently done
changes are probably lost.

So please add SVN commit 1033984, as mentioned in comment #9 in the
upstream bugreport [2], to fix that error.

So please replace patch 01_r1032787_khtml_show_hide_fix.diff, with the
new attached one.

The declaration and the function looks indeed broken regarding the parameter
types. But any idea why this isn't catched by surrounding ifndef?

Cheers

Bug#529540: Changelogs Missing on Security Updates

2009-10-29 Thread Leo L. Schwab
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal

It's happening again. This time, the packages affected are:
- xulrunner-1.9
- xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support
- libexpat1-dev
- libexpat1
- libmozjs1d

These are marked as critical security updates, but the changelogs
are completely missing, so I've no idea what was wrong or what's been fixed.

Please investigate this matter.

I collected apt-0.7.21 from http://bzr.debian.org/apt/debian-sid/ and built
the package with "nostrip noopts" and installed (dpkg -i apt_0.7.21_i386.deb).

But now I have unmet dependencies

Policy defines parallel=n. n is NOT optional. `dpkg-buildpackage -j` sets some
bogus value -1 (aka unlimited?) which is not supported by policy... Yeah, it
seems that thing is really a bit broken.

My vote surely goes for this. But since it seemed like you had already
rejected this idea earlier [1], I resorted to some `dpkg-buildpackage -j`
detection hacks :-) I fully support this idea including rename to --max-
parallel. Consistency and clean interface is kept and parallel support is ON
by default.

However, I'm a bit concerned about the fact that there is no way to tell
dh_auto_* (-> makefile.pm) not to pass -jX to make at all (i.e. defined $this-
>get_parallel() in makefile.pm:do_make() will never be false). Some packages
might need this. In parallel branch, this used to be the case when --parallel
was not specified at all (hence set_parallel() never got called and
$opt_parallel defaulted to undef). Now set_parallel() is always called and
always defines $opt_parallel to some value. Maybe --max-parallel=-1 for this
(since --max-parallel/--max-parallel=0 is already an alias for "unlimited")?

Yeah, I hope, dpkg people work something out for Squeeze. I'm also concerned
about #544844 since I do not export C(XX)FLAGS in debian/rules anywhere and
rely on dpkg-buildpackage to do this.

I think you may be running into #542250, not this bug. Please try
installing the version of linux-image-2.6.26-2-xen-686 in
stable-proposed-updates, which fixes that bug. You'll need to add this
line to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ stable-proposed-updates main

Thanks :)

Was just looking at this; unfortunately, upstream seems to have moved
away from a sane-ish Ant build system to Maven which I cannot get to
build. The "mvh.sh" script seems completely broken too.

Have you had any luck?

Bug#549083: Not working with 3.0.3-1

2009-10-29 Thread M G Berberich
Hello,

I have a simple RAID1 setup, no crypto. And it's not working since
upgrading to mdadm 3. At boot it failes to assemble the arrays.

mdadm 3.0.3-1 is still not working. During boot it failes with:

Begin: Assemble all MD arrays ... Failure: failed to assemble all arrays

and then can't mount the root-fs.

Downgrading to mdadm 2.6.7.2-3 makes it work again.

Bug#553281: libboost1.40-dev: Boost.MultiIndex depends on Boost.Serialization

2009-10-29 Thread Leandro Lucarella
Package: libboost1.40-dev
Version: 1.40.0-2
Severity: important

There is a problem with some boost internal dependencies. Now
Boost.MultiIndex (included in libboost1.40-dev) depends on headers from
Boost.Serialization (included in libboost-serialization1.40-dev), making
a little weird because you have to install libboost-serialization1.40-dev
manually (no automatic dependencies) to actually use something present in
libboost1.40-dev.

I reported the bug upstream[1], but until it get fixed, maybe Debian can
force libboost1.40-dev to depend on libboost-serialization1.40-dev. Or
maybe that would add a circular dependency, in which case maybe the
Boost.MultiIndex library can be moved to another package and make that new
package depend on both libboost1.40-dev and
libboost-serialization1.40-dev.

It seems strange that both gnome-keyring-daemon and postfix have a

The library depends on libgnat-4.3 which depends on libc6, so the
dependency on libc6 is there, albeit indirectly. Is this really a

Sorry, but in the meantime I've upgraded the bios and the annoying

installing the thinkfan version of Victor, I can't notice any
difference so I'm afraid I can't be of much help now...
