Bug#553514: RFS : node.js

2010-01-21 Thread Jérémy Lal
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "node.js".

* Package name: node.js
  Version : 0.1.24-1
  Upstream Author : Ryan Dahl
* URL : http://nodejs.org
* License : MIT, GPL-2
  Section : web

It builds these binary packages:
node.js- Event-based I/O for V8 javascript
node.js-dev - Development files for node.js

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 553514

My motivation for maintaining this package is: as a web developer,
I'm currently working on using node.js as a comet server. Node.js is
a great piece of software and already a lot of other projects are
building on it. The current goal is to build a clean and simple web
framework, turning the fact that it uses javascript server-side as an
advantage. Upstream is active, and open to patchs and comments.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/node.js
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/node.js/node.js_0.1.26-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Jérémy Lal

Oh, I see what you mean now. I get the build failure below when trying
to build the archive with my modified symbols file. I don't understand
the error -- the indicated symbols are real variables in the library and
must be available in the debian package for things to work as intended.
All the affected symbols are variables, and not functions, though. Is
this a bug in the *.symbols handling of dpkg-gensymbols?

Tagging 'help' because I'm not an export on how dpkg-gensymbols is
intended to work. Hopefully you will be able to help me. :-)

Mention where any documentation can be found.

E.g., mention their website.

The user might just be reading the man page and doesn't know about
apt-cache show.
M? Users are entitled to read the distribution documentation. Moreover,
the website is easy to find in any internet search system.

I copied this from libidn.map from the upstream archive. These symbols
have been present for a long time, I believe.

Why? I suspect these symbols are not used by anything inside the libidn
archive itself.

Bug#561291: please provide a .symbols file

2010-01-21 Thread Simon Josefsson
Btw, is the intention that libidn11.shlibs should be empty, or that the
file should be removed? I couldn't really tell from the diff you
provided. Building with an empty files provokes a warning from
pdebuild:

dpkg-source: warning: newly created empty file 'debian/libidn11.shlibs' will
not be represented in diff

I have no idea whether this indicates a real problem or not though.

Therefore perhaps move this page to section8, and the program to sbin.

Which, if I recall correctly, I said in the context of pointing out that
your interpretation of Policy that you just posted to debian-devel is
clearly not what's currently required, nor what has historically been
expected in debian/copyright.

> Please, don't try to short-circuit the discussion that's been requested.

We should correctly document the current situation regardless, even if
we're discussing whether to change it, since having the current wording be
ambiguous isn't helping anyone. The only reason to not document the
current situation is if we expect the current situation to change very
soon, and I don't see any sign that this change is going to happen quickly
(given the complete lack of movement on it since the last time it came
up).

Bug#512854: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the gpm package

2010-01-21 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of gpm and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the gpm Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
ar be ca cs da de es eu fi fr gl it ja nl pt pt_BR ru sk sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: da nl

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the gpm package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Thursday, January
28, 2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Saturday, January 16, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Friday, January 22, 2010 : send this notice
Thursday, January 28, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving
translation updates
Friday, January 29, 2010 : build the package and upload it to
DELAYED/7-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Friday, February 05, 2010 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

Agreed and seconded. I actually lean towards dropping this requirement in
the long run as part of a larger discussion except where the license
requires it (which is most cases, but anyway), but what you have below is
clearly what's being required right now, so while we have the larger
discussion, we should document the current state.

Bug#566220: [PATCH] Clarify "verbatim copy of its copyright and distribution license"

2010-01-21 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.8.3.0
Tags: patch
User: debian-pol...@packages.debian.org
Usertags: informative

Clarify what is meant by "verbatim copy of its copyright and distribution
license" to be explicit about what Debian has always required for this file,
to put to rest the silly arguments that this should be parsed as "(copyright
and distribution) license". If someone wants to argue that Policy should
*not* require reproducing the copyright notices when this is not required by
the license, let them argue that Policy should be changed rather than
wrongly claiming it's not a Policy requirement.

How about instead of writing files out, ikiwiki just keeps the
generated .mdwn files in memory after creating them from the
autoindex.tmpl file? I don't really have the ikiwiki or perl skills to
do this myself unfortunately.

Bug#566216: fluid-soundfont: debsums missing file error for flac files

2010-01-21 Thread Francis Russell
Package: fluid-soundfont
Version: 3.1-4
Severity: minor

Checksums are created for two flac files which are decompressed on
installation. As a result, debsums believes
these files have been deleted. This affects other tools like reportbug too,
which will use debsums to
determine if a package install might have been corrupted when filing a bug
against it.

This topic came up on the aspell mailing list recently, and the author
had some tips:

  http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/aspell-user/2010-01/msg2.html

Maybe it would be useful to document the speeds of the different
suggestion modes in the aspell manpage?

Correct. I have now tracked down this bug and it will be fixed in the

It is cpufrequtils, not the kernel, that selects which cpufreq driver to
load, so I will assign this bug to cpufrequtils.

However, we will reconsider whether this module should be built at all.

This warning has been added recently. The kernel team is not in

2010-01-21 Thread Bardia Behabadi
Package: linux-2.6

vserver_686-bigmem is not bigmem because the bigmem config file
reference is missing in debian/rules.gen.
IOW vserver_686-bigmem=vserver_686. You can verify this in the
respective /boot/configs* of the two packages.
Adding the bigmem config ref in rules.gen gives me the bigmem kernel I
need, but I think rules.gen is generated by a script so the bug
ultimately needs to be fixed upstream of this file?

Bug#566212: override: diatheke:text/optional

2010-01-21 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: minor

In the past diatheke was packaged with CLI tool and cgi-scripts.

Due to potential security issues with the scripts diatheke has been repackaged
not to depend on www-server not to install cgi scripts.

Cgi/perl scripts are still shipped in the /usr/share/doc/diatheke/examples for
user reference on how to create web-pages which interact with libsword.

Diatheke command line tool is still shipped, which is a basic front-end to
libsword.

Please change overrride to text/optional.

Inclusion of mdadm.conf in initramfs is the responsibility of the mdadm
hook, not of initramfs-tools itself. Reassigning.

Have you tried the rootdelay parameter?

This is not good but mdadm's initramfs is designed to work anyway.
Once your system boots, it would be good to find out what's going
on. Is there an /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf there?

Bug#563882: git-core FTBFS on ia64: t1001-read-tree-m-2way.sh test fails

2010-01-21 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Anders,

Thanks for your work on this.

Anders Kaseorg wrote:

>From the log, it looks like git read-tree is working fine, so some of
the other tests that use 'git diff --no-index' might be expected to
fail, too. The build log stops at t1001. Do we want to suppress
t4002, t4011, t4013, t4018, t4033, and t4044 as well?

No Itanium porters have arrived to help. Who would confirm then that
the result was sane enough for people to use? As a user, I would
rather use a v1.6.5 build that works (does it still?) than a v1.6.6
that cannot even pass the early tests in the test suite.

> Then ia64 users
> can have a package to test this with more easily,

Given access to an ia64 to test on, I would gladly test this myself.
All it takes is downloading git from http://git-scm.com or the Debian
archive, running ‘make test’, and then looking around a little when it
fails.

I don’t think this is what autobuilders are for.

If we want to use buildds instead, the thing to do would be to change
'$(MAKE) $(TEST)' to '$(MAKE) -k $(TEST)' in debian/rules. Then the
build fails, so we are not screwing over the Itanium users, but at
least all the tests are run.

Actually, we don’t need an ia64 user, just a Debian Developer.
http://db.debian.org/machines.cgi?host=merulo

By the way, is there a build log for this available?

> The only other option I see is to disable the ia64 architecture entirely

This is the right solution, unless someone out there cares. Personally,
I would rather build a package from source so I can diagnose problems
as they come than find myself using a version that is both untested and
known not to work.

Besides, even if we ignore the errors, they would constitute a grave bug
that would prevent migration of git to testing, no?

Just my two cents,
Jonathan

Bug#566210: icecast2: Memory leak eats up all memory until OOM

2010-01-21 Thread Harald Oest
Package: icecast2
Version: 2.3.2-2
Severity: important

We are using icecast2 as an on-demand streaming server offering about 120
different mp3 streams. Streams are changing very frequently.
Ices is used as streaming source client. Additionally apache2 and mysql5-server
are installed and running, providing a HTTP based API
to request on-demand streams.

Hardware: Intel i7 CPU, 4 phys + 4 virt cores, 8 GB RAM + 4 GB swap

After some hours in production the server became unresponsive for several
minutes, showing a system load of about 100. All memory
including the whole swap space was in use.

started experiencing 100% reproducable system lockups on a VIA C7
system. No errors in the logs, no oops, no BUG, nothing - just a hard
lock. No keyboard LED response and no sysrq functionality worked.

Sometimes the system wouldn't complete the boot process without
freezing. Sometimes it would last three minutes or so before
freezing. I could reproduce the lockup with "cat /dev/zero > file".
Every time, within 10 seconds, the system would freeze.

After a lot of trial, error, and searching, I discovered that the
e_powersaver module was being loaded and the lockups went away if I
unloaded it.

The kernel build help text indicates that the module shouldn't ever be
used, and is highly dangerous:

This adds the CPUFreq driver for VIA C7 processors. However, this
driver does not have any safeguards to prevent operating the CPU out
of spec and is thus considered dangerous. Please use the regular ACPI
 cpufreq driver, enabled by CONFIG_X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ.

I have blacklisted this module and suspect that it should be
blacklisted by default. It seems possible that Debian bug #563941 is
related to this issue as well, but there's not enough info in the
report for me to be sure.

Thanks,
Ross

Oh, and what I forgot, there's also rdbs outside the extensions itself:

$ find /var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache/registry/ -name "*.rdb"
/var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/common_.rdb

/var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/Linux_x86_.rdb
/var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/common.rdb

And we also have #566189 now, too... Does removing those dir(s) like
in #566189 also fix the problem for you?

I contacted upstream of obex-data-server.
obex-data-server was made in GoSC/2007 under mentoring of
Marcel Holtmann, bluez and obexd maintainer.

He was ordered DBUS name to orig.openobex to set it to Marcel.
And Marcel made obexd in this back. However, Marcel seems to have made DBUS name
same value at this time.
Marcel seems to have directed him to change it, but said that he did
not want to change it.

I understood that they did not want to change DBUS-name each other.
I think that we have to take the method how user cannot install
obex-data-serve and obexd in
at the same time in Debian.

How do you think abaout this idea?

Best regards,
  Nobuhiro

i just did a clean 5.0.3 lenny install (in virtualbox) because i
thought i may have inadvertently broken something in my standard lenny
vm (also in virtualbox). but the build failed anyway. it could be an
issue with virtualbox, but that seems unlikely.

i tried running the pybench test independently of the package build, and
it succeeded. odd.

Bug#565348: libtorrent11 0.12.6-2 fixed it for me

2010-01-21 Thread public

As Robin Millette stated, the reason was a wrong libtorrent-version.
I can confirm this.

rtorrent 0.8.6-1 with libtorrent11 0.12.6-2
works on my machine (no more strange numbers in the u/d-statistics).

Bug#566205: aptitude: status messages don't get erased

2010-01-21 Thread Miles Bader
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.1.5-1
Severity: minor

After starting aptitude, there's a sort of "info line", colored blue, at
the bottom of the screen.

If I move to the first package (in my case, "adduser"), and hit the "C"
command to show the changelog, a _second_ status line is added at the
bottom, displaying messages like "Downloading the changelog of adduser",
with a percentage at the far right.

That's all nice, but once this "status line" has been added, it never
goes away, and always seems to display the last message that was there,
even if it's clearly out of date -- e.g., currently I've seen the
changelog, and quit back to the main package listing display, but the
"status line" is still showing:

Downloading the changelog of adduser 0%

complete with bogus percentage [some whitespace removed for clarity].

[So now there's now _two_ blue lines at the bottom of the display, the
normal "info line", and the bogus "status line" beneath it; nothing
seems to make the added status line go away, although new status
messages will change its contents (and then the new contents
subsequently persist).]

It looks like a cleanup call was missed somewhere...

Thanks,

-Miles

Use this hackaround for now.

Interestingly I can't reproduce this in a 1:3.1.1-8->1:3.1.1-14 upgrade
(installed: openoffice.org openoffice.org-sdbc-postgresql)

Hi,

your package FTBFS this way:

We just had the same case on IRC and it turned out to be a corrupt
file.

2:13 < _rene_> crashes after/when reading this:
22:13 < _rene_> 15252
open("/var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.
22:13 < _rene_> deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/Linux_x86_.rdb",
O_RDWR) = 56
22:13 < _rene_> try to remove it
22:13 < _rene_> (and then reinstall all extension packages)

He removed the whole directory
(com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend; you can also
remove everything below cache if you wish)
and then it works. (Of course if you want all the extensions then you
need to reinstall the packages; ignore the errors about not existing extensions
before unpacking, they're expected in this case)

I'll now try to debootstrap an old squeeze wizth 1:3.1.1-8, install
OOo with some extensions and upgrade...

Bug#561347: flumotion: uses non-essential package in pre-rtupdate script

2010-01-21 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Stefano Zacchiroli , 2010-01-21, 23:21:

flumotion is using /usr/bin/python in the pre-rtupdate script. Since
this script is run in the preinst of the python package, it is not
guaranteed that the /usr/bin/python symlink exists or that it points
to an existing file.

You should use only the essential packages in the pre-rtupdate
script; otherwise it's likely that flumotion will break next update
of the default version of Python.

Just for the sake of providing more information to this bug log: can you
please be more specific?

In fact /usr/share/python/runtime.d/flumotion.rtupdate does not use
directly python, but it does use invoke-rc.d on flumotion. In turn
/etc/init.d/flumotion does not invoke directly python, but will
eventually invoke /usr/sbin/flumotion which is a #!/usr/bin/python.

I believe that invocation path (which is of course buggy!) is what you
were referring to, confirmation would be appreciate, also to be sure I'm
not missing some other run path

Indeed I was referring to this particular run path and I'm not aware of
other ones.

Sorry for being not specific enough in my initial report.

To load a very simple (tutorial) script takes two seconds on a Core 2
Duo 2.0GHz with 3GB of memory. And this is with a warm cache. There's
no reason it should take anything near that long; perl 5 executes an
equivalent script as follows:

perl foo.pl 0.00s user 0.00s system 74% cpu 0.005 total

I understand that rakudo is not yet feature complete, and that
completing functionality is probably higher priority than speed, so I
filed the bug as wishlist. I do expect that at some point it will be
faster to start than java, though. :-)

Bug#566202: hangs at 100%, child process in pause()

2010-01-21 Thread Joey Hess
Package: hpodder
Version: 1.1.5.0+nmu1
Severity: normal

I've been having some intermittent problems where hpodder, run from
cron, hangs and prevents new stuff showing up. When this happens,
I see a process tree like this:

hpodder
\_ hpodder

strace showed the parent in a loop printing 100% done. The
child is the strange thing, strace showed: pause(

I killed the child, and cron mailed me this:

hpodder: ExitFailure 1
Terminated

If/when this happens again I will try to investigate further,
though I can't see from the code how this could happen.

(Unless haskell compiles threadDelay 100 into pause().)

I noticed libvirt only crashed at the first connection with Virt-manager. If I
start libvirt again and try to reconnect it works. I can confirm all Debian

Package: collectd
Version: 4.8.2-1
Severity: normal

I've added ability to hide specified types.

It is useful when you don't want to see many graphs. How to use the patch:
apply it to collection.cgi and add lines with keyword ,,dontshowtype''
to /etc/collectd/collection.conf :

dontshowtype: "if_errors"
dontshowtype: "if_packets"

Then you will see only if_packets types in "interface" plugin page.

Hi

( This was originally reported in Ubuntu bug

The rule to match the DEBRELEASE version of syslogd (Debian revision)
only allows for 0-9 and "." in Debian revisions; this breaks e.g.
backports or Ubuntu versions. Please find attached a patch allowing
the upsteam version without DEBRELEASE or with any possible DEBRELEASE.

Well, as a matter of fact I don't. Probably I wouldn't have replied
to the thread if pth wasn't a GNU package, but my opinion would be the
same. A fork should be the last resort, when all efforts to prevent
the fork have been tried and failed. The introduction of a forked
package in a distro is a separate issue, but it naturally is something
not to be taken lightly.

Avoiding this "small hurdle" will result in a much bigger hurdle for
every distribution, especially Debian when you take into account the
number of packages and supported architectures. Every new package
results in extra load on the infrastructure (which is not only
machines), possible user confusion, possible and very likely further
effort by QA/security/release teams, etc.

Bug#566198: Path of cron isn't logged by rsyslog

2010-01-21 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.3.5
Severity: minor
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu lucid ubuntu-patch

Hi

( This was originally reported in Ubuntu bug
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/logcheck/+bug/463471 )

I guess since the switch from syslogd to rsyslog in Ubuntu 9.10,
logcheck doesn't filter out CRON entries anymore. I verified this on
one of my systems and saw what used to be /USR/SBIN/CRON and
/usr/sbin/cron messages be logged without /usr/sbin/. Please find
attached a patch to support both formats.

   Thanks,

Bug#566197: Header should use "such mail" not "such mails"

2010-01-21 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.3.5
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu lucid ubuntu-patch

Hi

Michael Lustfield reported in Ubuntu bug
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/logcheck/+bug/398703 that the
header of logcheck is spelt incorrectly:
"This email is sent by logcheck. If you no longer wish to receive
such mails, you can either deinstall the logcheck package or modify
its configuration file (/etc/logcheck/logcheck.conf)."

The word "mails" should be "mail". Mail is very commonly pluralized
when it should not be. This is one of those cases.

If you would like context, consider these sentences.
I didn't receive my mails from the post office yet.
I sent you the mails yesterday.

These are the exact same situation. If you're a native English
speaker, I would hope these make everything clear.

BTW, This is a pretty nice tool. If it weren't great, I wouldn't
bother suggesting the improvement.

Would you mind changing debian/header.txt as he proposes?

   Thanks,

Hi Michael,

You can install the MIBs using snmp-mibs-downloader from SID.
The next version of the wireshark package will suggest it and the
popup dialog will contain that hint, too.

Bug#501892: another reason for error 123 in /etc/cron.daily/exim4-base

2010-01-21 Thread Martin Kaiser
Dear exim4 maintainers,

I've just seen your bug report 501892. Although it's closed by now, I'd
like to add another comment.

I started getting the error 123 from /etc/cron.daily/exim4-base after
upgrading a box from etch to lenny. Eventually, I found out that the
reason was a file /var/log/exi4/db/vacation.db. This is created and used
by a domain-based vacation filter

  [...]
  once /var/spool/exim4/db/vacation.db
  once_repeat 1d

I'm well aware that I could put this file everywhere else in the system.
When I set up the filter ages ago, I just happend to chose
/var/spool/exim4/db/

It looks like /etc/cron.daily/exim4-base did not produce an error until
the lenny version. It seems that when exim_tidydb is invoked
by start-stop-daemon with vacation.db as parameter, no error is returned.
The error started showing up when the lenny upgrade added something like

--- (snippet from the 4.71 package)
find $SPOOLDIR/db -maxdepth 1 -name '*.lockfile' -or -name 'log.*' \
-or -type f -printf '%f\0' | \
su - --shell /bin/bash \
 --command "xargs -0r -n 1 /usr/sbin/exim_tidydb $SPOOLDIR > /dev/null" \
 Debian-exim
-

This eventually invokes

exim_tidydb /var/spool/exim/db vacation.db which fails.

I was wondering if the filename selection for the find command shouldn't
be changed to search only for retry.db, wait-*.db and misc.db. AFAIK,
all other files can't be processed by exim_tidydb anyway.

Best regards,

   Martin

Bug#566185: vim-latexsuite: sometimes freezes gvim after compilation

2010-01-21 Thread Johann Felix Soden
Hi,

thanks for the bug report and your offer to do some testing!

Please run (g)vim from shell every time you expect the freeze so you can
obtain any console messages.

When vim freezes, hit Control-C.
Then vim should behave normal again (if not try Control-L for redrawing
the screen or Enter). A line number-file combination should be displayed
where the execution was stopped.

You can send me this debug information and I hope I can find the error.
If you can reproduce the error more often, it would be interesting if
the line number/file changes.

Best wishes

Just for the sake of providing more information to this bug log: can you
please be more specific?

In fact /usr/share/python/runtime.d/flumotion.rtupdate does not use
directly python, but it does use invoke-rc.d on flumotion. In turn
/etc/init.d/flumotion does not invoke directly python, but will
eventually invoke /usr/sbin/flumotion which is a #!/usr/bin/python.

I believe that invocation path (which is of course buggy!) is what you
were referring to, confirmation would be appreciate, also to be sure I'm
not missing some other run path

Cheers.

Thanks for your report. There really should be a better way to handle
this in init script instead of adding everything that could depend on
username resolution to the X-Start-Before header for every package that
provides username resolution.

But lacking such a solution I have added apache2 to the X-Start-Before
header and it will be in the next upload.

Anyway, thanks for using nss-pam-ldapd and filing this bugreport.

the base64-* variables as that should be handled upstream. Still,
metamail was a Recommends only, so the variables were superfluous
already at worst, not harmful (or there was another bug before already,
unrelated to this one).

Regards.

Bug#566194: RFA: google-gadgets -- Common files for QT and GTK+ versions of google-gadgets

2010-01-21 Thread Sune Vuorela
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Google-gadgets is currently maintained by Debian Qt KDE team under the "Debian
Krap" umbrella, which is packages we doesn't really care about, if it
wasn't because KDE needed it.

We hope someone will either help or take over the Google-gadgets
package. You are most welcome to co-maintain it as a part of the "krap"
umbrella.

This package requires library knowledge or at least some
willingness to learn libraries. There is big chances to easy get
sponsors for this package, should you be a new debian guy and in need of
that.

The package description is:
Google Gadgets for Linux provides a platform for running desktop gadgets under
Linux, catering to the unique needs of Linux users. It's compatible with the
gadgets written for Google Desktop for Windows as well as the Universal
Gadgets on iGoogle. Following Linux norms, this project is open-sourced,
 under the Apache License.
 .
This package includes files common to both GTK+ and QT versions.

PS.: Most other packages maintained by the Debian Krap Team is also
available under similar terms.

Bug#566193: Package upstream vpnc-scripts

2010-01-21 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
Package: openconnect
Version: 2.01-1
Severity: wishlist

Historically openconnect uses vpnc-compatible scripts to setup routing
etc. after the connection has been established. A compatible script is
included in the vpnc package, but does not support new features like
IPv6 (and is not depended on by openconnect anyway).

Please put the example scripts in the vpnc-script repository available
at http://git.infradead.org/users/dwmw2/vpnc-scripts.git somewhere into
the package, for example /usr/share/openconnect or
/usr/share/doc/openconnect/vpnc-scripts .

Thanks,
Bernhard

Bug#566192: initramfs-tools: md0 device not recognized at boot after upgrade to kernel 2.6.30

2010-01-21 Thread Louis Richard Pirlet
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.93.4
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

I upgraded my kernel from 2.6.26 to 2.6.30 and could not boot the system over
the new kernel. I still can boot it from the old 2.6.26 kernel.

My root disk is on a mirror raid based on 2 SCSI disk. The boot process
stopsand gives a message to the effect that the file system is unavailable.

I have an extended knowledge on hardware (I used to be a DEC/Compaq/HP harware
support engineer on pdp11/VAX/alpha under VMS and Tru64). I have no indepth
knowledge of the linux system.

I think there is a problem with the initramfs-tools because there is no
mdadm.conf describing my md devices... In fact there is no mdadm directory
under etc in the initrd.img-2.6.30.2.686 created by the upgrade.

Bug#565303: [wajig] regression: bash completion gone

2010-01-21 Thread Graham Williams
Hi Eike,

Sorry I missed your email closing the bug. Thanks for that.

And thanks for the hint on how you resolved the problem.

Dirk Eddelbuettel has reported the same issue and suggests that it
looks like a dpkg/upgrade issue. Dirk's work around was (for the
record and for those who might also stumble over the bug):

Sorry to bother, but this bug is RC and is 3 week-old, can you explain
what prevents you from uploading a fixed package right away?

Thanks for having integrated the patch.

Bug#566191: openconnect depends on a lot of libraries

2010-01-21 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
Package: openconnect
Version: 2.01-1

The openconnect package depends on a lot of libraries due to the
NetworkManager binary included in the package.

Depends: libatk1.0-0 (>= 1.20.0), libc6 (>= 2.4), libcairo2 (>= 1.2.4),
libfontconfig1 (>= 2.4.0), libfreetype6 (>= 2.2.1), libgconf2-4
(>= 2.23.2), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.16.0), libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.17.0),
libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.14.0), libssl0.9.8 (>= 0.9.8f-5), libxml2
(>= 2.6.27), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)

On a full console-only Squeeze installation this installs around 60
additional libraries requiring 60MB of disk-space.

Please consider packaging
/usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-openconnect-auth-dialog in a seperate binary
package. Or is it even necessary, since there is a
network-manager-openconnect plugin as well?

Thanks,
Bernhard

2010-01-21 Thread Ferry Toth

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading today from openoffice.org (1:3.1.1-8) to 1:3.1.1-14, Openoffice

Starting from the command line lets me pick the document type, then crashes as
well with:

Deleting .openoffice.org did not help.

Don't read to much into this; pth is for sure a smaller effort in
Martins' work. We just want to get over this small hurdle in order to
get his really interesting stuff included (which depends on this).

OK, sent a short note to maintain...@gnu.org. I'll keep the list updated
about the progress.

Bug#566185: vim-latexsuite: sometimes freezes gvim after compilation

2010-01-21 Thread Denis Laxalde
Package: vim-latexsuite
Version: 20091230-2
Severity: important

Hi,

Sometimes after a compilation (using \ll), gvim gets completely frozen.
I found no other way to recover than just killing the gvim process
(which takes 100% CPU).
Actually, it seems that the compilation (just latex and bibtex
sometimes) goes through but that vim does not recover after this...

I'll be glad to provide more information if you explain me how to debug
this (next time it happens) !

Cheers,

Denis
