Bug#577279: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: no synaptics functionality after sid update

2010-04-10 Thread Marc Haber
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have converted my synaptics touchpad configuration to the udev
scheme a few weeks ago and it used to work. After the latest sid
update, I lost the synaptics functionality, especially scrolling.

In Xorg.0.log, I see
(II) config/udev: Adding input device PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
(/dev/input/event6)
(**) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: always reports core events
(**) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Device: "/dev/input/event6"
(II) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Found 3 mouse buttons
(II) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Found relative axes
(II) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Found x and y relative axes
(II) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Configuring as mouse
(**) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: YAxisMapping: buttons 4 and 5
(**) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: EmulateWheelButton: 4, EmulateWheelInertia: 10,
EmulateWheelTimeout: 200
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" (type:
MOUSE)
(II) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: initialized for relative axes.
(II) config/udev: Adding input device PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
(/dev/input/mouse0)
(II) No input driver/identifier specified (ignoring)

and synclient -l says "Unable to find a synaptics device". The pad
works as a regular mouse though.

Am I doing something wrong?

Greetings
Marc

Bug#577278: reportbug: Attach options (-A) is not safe for UTF-8 content

2010-04-10 Thread Jari Aalto
Package: reportbug
Version: 4.11
Severity: normal

Using the -A optiontion to attach and UTF-8 patch seems to have problems.
Please see bug:

  #577168

for an example where an UTF-8 patch file was reported forward. It
dind't arrive untact to BTS (according to the user report).

Perhaps the patch could be examined for non-ASCII characters protected
using:

Content-type: application/octect-stream

before composing for SMTP.

Hello,

Replacing gettext and cvs build-deps with an autopoint one makes pbuilder
chokes. In those conditions, my sponsor won't upload the package. So this is a
wontfix.

Best regards,

Yes, your assumption was absolutely correct.
Just yesterday a new version of hledger was announced (0.9)- with GHC
6.12 support. Now regarding the utf-8 problem everything works as it
should.

Bug#577276: alarm-clock-applet: will not run in the background

2010-04-10 Thread John Talbut
Package: alarm-clock-applet
Version: 0.3.0-1
Severity: grave
Tags: squeeze
Justification: renders package unusable

After the recent upgrade of the package the applet disappeared. At first I had
some of these messages:

The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:AlarmClock".
Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?

But after I chose the "delete the applet" option, nothing.

I have discovered that if I run the applet from the terminal it appears and
seems to work, but the application never exits.
The messages I get are:

Bug#576543: xpdf-reader: Invalid command syntax: 'zoomFitPage' / 'zoomFitWidth'

2010-04-10 Thread Sridhar M.A.
I downloaded the precompiled binaries of xpdf-reader from

ftp://ftp.foolabs.com/pub/xpdf/xpdf-3.02pl4-linux.tar.gz

The xpdf binary expects the file libpng.so.3. Created a symlink for that
file in /lib to /lib/libpng12.so.0.43.0. It works and pressing 'z' works
as expected.

I think this bug/behaviour change is introduced by the debian patches
applied.

This is just FYI.

Bug#577274: [spip] "'url_img_courtes' => true" can't work

2010-04-10 Thread David Prévot
Package: spip
Version: 2.0.10-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

Thanks for taking care of Spip.

Setting 'url_img_courtes' => true (in /etc/spip/mes_options.php) can't
work because local and IMG directories doesn't exist in main directory
(/usr/share/spip/).

Please find attach a patch to include them, the same way the plugin
directory is created, and propose an Alias in example apache2.conf
configuration file for local as the IMG one.

Regards

David

Bug#577273: Reversed and one error saturation level in 0.24.0

2010-04-10 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
Package: libvte9
Version: 1:0.24.0-2
Tags: patch

This is upstream bug #615417. [1]

In vte 0.24.0:
1. when saturation is 1, the background image is original image (very
   light).
2. when saturation is less 1 but near 1, the image is black (dark).
3. the saturation level is reversed compared with vte <= 0.23.5

In vte 0.23.5 and before:
1. when saturation is near 1, the background image is light.
2. when saturation is near 0, the background image is dark.

The attached patch will fix the problem.

Kind regards
 Wen-Yen Chuang (caleb)

as quick workaround do:

echo hid-apple >> /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
update-initramfs -u

sorry 0.93 included too many useless hid variants,
will readd hid-apple in next upload, fixed in git repo:

With this patch at will also understand "0900 Sun" entered later on
Sunday as nine o'clock on this Sunday instead of next week. Otherwise,
dates in the past are understood as meaning tomorrow/next month/next
year. I think giving a day of week should behave similar, but don't know
how other implementations handle this.

Bug#577269: mention in description that it only runs when devices are connected

I was unhappy to see gnome pulling in a daemon for hardware that I do
not (and will never ;) own. Once I installed it, I saw that you had
anticipated my displeasure with running such a daemon, with the
excellent udev rules that will only start it if a relevant device is
connected. Bravo!

I think that adding something like this to the description would avoid
putting others through the same emotional rollercoaster:

 .
This package includes udev rules to start the daemon when a supported
device is plugged in, and stop it when all devices are removed.

I believe this was fixed in Linux 2.6.32.10 by the following change:

commit 3048a0dbd810980f67882a8b6745d4a6ff24c53e

This was included in Debian kernel package version 2.6.32-10. Let us
know if this doesn't fix the problem for you.

Bug#577207: patch for totem 2.30.0

2010-04-10 Thread Michael Biebl
tags 577207 patch
thanks

Hi,

I attached a simple patch, to make totem 2.30.0 compile against tracker >=
0.8.0.

The only testing I did, is I checked that it compiles successfully with
libtracker-client-0.8.

You will also need to add libtracker-client-0.8-dev (>= 0.8.0) to Build-Depends
and regenerate 90_autotools.patch.

Cheers,
Michael

There are a pair of ITPs:

http://bugs.debian.org/511036
http://bugs.debian.org/513731

CCing the owner of these and the ITPs, perhaps someone will know the status.

Simon, if you no longer intend to package the Droid fonts, please
change the ITP to reflect that.

The user would have to take care that only one session is actually
running at a given time. cereal-admin start foo should throw and error
message if there is another session running on the same port.

Yes. The local admin would shut down all running cereal sessions,
change the connections, and then start ther other cereal sessions,
re-using previous definitions.

By the running session. cereal-admin stop X, cereal-admin start Y.

That firmware is only used for 3D acceleration, and everything else will
work without it. The more serious error messages suggest memory
corruption. Have you tested the RAM with memtest86+ yet?

You can control sysV daemons with policy.d - for example by use of the
package policyrcd-script-zg2.

Did you try to mount from the same host? Local addresses (i.e.
addresses bound to an interface) are specifically excluded from
checking. Also note that mountd caches host decisions so long as the
hosts.{allow,deny} files are unchanged.

Then report a wishlist bug for that.

Bug#577262: RM: removal of gcj-4.3 and java-gcj-compat from unstable

2010-04-10 Thread Matthias Klose

Package: ftp.debian.org

Please remove gcj-4.3 and java-gcj-compat from unstable.

gcj is still used on hppa, kfreebsd and hurd(?), all other architectures use
openjdk-6 as the default java. the platforms above work ok-ish such that
packages can be built, although with workarounds. gcj-4.4 looks better on these
platforms than 4.3. If we need an alternative for gcj-4.4 I'd rather package
gcj-4.5 derived from the gcc-snapshot package just building the c, c++ and java.

All versioned dependencies on java-gcj-compat are fixed/removed [1], the
gcj-jre, gcj-jre-headless and gcj-jdk packages provide the old java-gcj-compat
packages. java-gcj-compat should be removed together with gcj-4.3.

aptitude runs the dpkg::pre-invoke and dpkg::post-invoke hooks even when
run in --download-only mode. apt-get does not. I think that is a bug in
aptitude.

etckeeper has not way to tell that aptitude is run in --download-only
mode. However, the only reason etckeeper is aborting the "install"
is because you have this set, which is not the default:

These rules are lacking a device path (were they generated a long time
ago?) so we can't automatically update them.

I have now fixed the postinst script so it does not report files as
being automatically updated when it cannot find any new device IDs for
them.

This wording is currently in translation, so I don't want to change it
now. Instead, I have implemented a simple scan for the devices listed
in mdadm.conf so that the wording can be correct.

I assume that the advanced users who use mdadm already know they need to
do that after editing mdadm.conf. Similarly, I assume that they know to
run lilo after editing lilo.conf. Remember also that this message has
to apply to all of the many configuration files that might need to be
changed.

Bug#509923: linux-2.6: hd's no longer found on marvell 88SE6145 sata controller

2010-04-10 Thread Dan Alderman
I replied to Ben without hitting reply-all, so sending this again,
sorry, Ben, you now have this info twice.

I haven't found a work around that lets me access the disks on the
controller, I've just found a method to get Lenny installed onto the
system, i.e. don't hook up any disks to the Marvell controller and just
use the on board Intel controller for the install (945GC + ICH7).

Blacklisting pata_marvell, remaking the initramfs and forcing the ahci
driver on the kernel boot as per the instructions on the Debian wiki
line resulted in similar timeout errors and no drives detected on the
Marvell.

http://wiki.debian.org/pata_marvell

Could this be related to the fact that the Jetway daughterboard using
the Marvell 6145 only has the SATA ports setup with no PATA ports?

The Atom 330 board I'm using is this:

http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/NC92.html

and the Marvell Daughter Board is the ADPE4S on this page

http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/Daughter_Board.html

I'll regenerate the errors from both methods I tried once I return home
on Monday and attach them to the bug report.

Cheers,

D.

well, i should say that the one suspcious thing is that your logs just
get chopped off at the '(II) fglrx(0): Using adapter: 3:0.0.' line.
but that itself isn't really helpful. it just means that your crash
happens as it is starting up the adapter.

Bug#534268: SVN::Web bug - configuration

2010-04-10 Thread Esteban Manchado Velázquez
Hi,

I'm not the package maintainer, just trying to help with RCs.

I can't really reproduce your bug, and I can't think of a way to trigger that
problem. How are you configuring SVN::Web? Are you accessing directly through
svnweb-server or are you configuring some independent web server like Apache?
In any case, which URL are you visiting to trigger that error? Do you really
have one or more SVN repositories inside /var/www/svn/repos, or is that path
itself an SVN repository?

Also, about the FreeBSD port patches, I don't think they're relevant for this
problem, and it seems they were applied in the next package revision (0.53-3)
anyway (which I assume has the same problem?).

ok, i've had a private conversation with Ben. it turns out that any
and all kernel warnings will have a call trace included -- even though
that's overkill and doesn't make any sense.

just to check that it looks reasonable, can you attach your /proc/mtrr
file? also, you may want read up on mtrr a bit more [0],[1].

the thing about this problem is that you have no errors in your log
files, so everything should be working just fine...

have you tried a different monitor?

can you try adding:

  Modes "640x480"

to the "Display" subsection of the "Screen" section?

for completeness sake, can you regenerate your log/conf/startx files
with the latest 10-3~prelease driver and xorg 7.5?

I assume that hledger-0.7 is built with ghc-6.10 and that you built 0.8
with ghc-6.12.

Without looking at the code, this is what happening most likely: The
hledger code did not actually change. In both instances in transforms
unicode characters into UTF8-encoded byte sequences (still represented
as [Char]), and prints them using "putStrLn".

ghc-6.10 would print these byte-for-byte, and they turn up correctly on
your computer.

ghc-6.12 is smarter and transforms them to the local locale, in your
case, UTF8. The effect is what you see: double-encoded UTF8 strings.

So this is not a bug in ghc, but a bug in hledger that turned up due to
the (thankfully) more sensible behaviour in ghc.

You need to talk to the hledger maintainer if he already has code that
works with ghc-6.12.

Greetings,
Joachim

When rebuilt in an environment with Python 2.6 as the default

Bug#577254: ttf-arabeyes: Wrong width of diacritics in some fonts

2010-04-10 Thread Thamer Mahmoud
Package: ttf-arabeyes
Version: 2.0-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

While using a Xft-enabled Emacs23, I noticed that some fonts included
in this package have "wide" Arabic diacritics, almost taking up the
whole line. I did some testing, and I think that this problem is
caused by the large values of width of diacritics used in some of
these fonts.

You can verify this by running:

xfd -fa metal

Notice that the width of ARABIC DAMMA is shown to be 584 or more,
whereas other Arabic fonts have a width for DAMMA between 0-10 (this
goes for Alarabyia, Granada, and fonts in ttf-farsiweb -- all working
fine under Emacs).

The following is a list of the fonts affected:

khalid
almohanad
metal
arab
cortoba
sindbad
mashq
alyarmook
rehan
furat
alhor
nagham
rasheeq
salem
sharjah
nada

Right I will look into this again. I'm more comfortable with dh design

Please mind though that I've stopped using git-buildpackage since

Bug#552390: amanda-common should (build) depend on procps

2010-04-10 Thread Arnold Metselaar
Hi,

If you can't reproduce this bug, it probably means you have installed
a self-built version of amanda-common.

When amanda-common is built on a system with procps installed autoconf
does the right thing with the variable $PS in Constants.pm:
[~/src/amanda-2.6.1p2]$ grep "\$PS =" `find . -name Constants.\*`
./perl/Amanda/Constants.pm.in:$PS = "@PS@";
./perl/Amanda/Constants.pm:$PS = "/bin/ps";

Since procps is not listed as a build-dependency, it will not be
installed on the autobuilders and autoconf will not expand @PS@,
leading to the problem reported by Wolfgang Weisselberg.

To resolve the bug one must add procps to the build-dependencies of
amanda and to the dependencies of amanda-common since
/usr/lib/amanda/perl/Amanda/Process.pm in amanda-common uses /bin/ps
in procps.

Kind regards,
Arnold Metselaar

Bug#577253: initramfs-tools: Keyboard is not active / detected anymore, so LVM boot passphrase entry is broken

2010-04-10 Thread Colin Darie
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.94.4
Severity: normal
Tags: sid

The generated initrd image after an upgrade to initramfs-tools 0.94.4 (from
0.93.x) renders my keyboard inactive in the LVM passphrase prompt (nothing
happens when I enter my passphrase, so I guess the keyboard is not detected
anymore). Of course, using the previous initrd image works perfectly well. I'm
runnning on a MacBook Pro so I guess it's not really a common case. How can I
provide more informations ? Thanks. --- Colin Darie

I could imagine this happens when a conflict in the python-sugar-0.xx packages
was missing such that the new version was unpacked before the old one was
removed. but looking at the current packages in testing and unstable, the
conflicts are ok. would it be possible that a conflict was missing in the past
for one upload?

right, but python-sugar-toolkit depends on python-sugar and the __init__.py is
correctly installed in the python-sugar package. I don't see any problem with
this. Or did some version of an python-sugar-toolkit package ship the
__init__.py file?

> I've filed a ticket [1] upstream to avoid this issue for future

I don't think this is an upstream problem.

This could be either a bug in python-central, or a missing conflict in some
earlier version of the sugar packages.

I'd suggest to build with (env var) DH_PYCENTRAL=include-links; the packages are
arch dependent anyway, and you avoid the symlinking at install time.

Hello Adam,

I cannot reproduce your evolution installation problem with evolution

Can you still reproduce it?

Currently, all the source-chroot-specific options start with
^source-, so I think I'd like to keep that for consistency.

Bug#575431: Update: Bug#575431: plymouth: Plymouth seems to hang when console-setup is called during boot

2010-04-10 Thread Christian Meyer
Hello again,

with plymouth 0.8.1-1 (amd64, from maintainers site) the behaviour has changed:
Boot process no longer hangs as described in the initial bug report.

BUT it has become more strange:
With console-setup active in rcS.d, plymouth exits AFTER rcS.d (not exactly
during or after invocation of console-setup). The first visible text-line is:
INIT: Entering runlevel: 2

With console-setup inactive in rcS.d (renamed as decribed), plymouth continues
until init calls 'plymouth stop'

Program versions:
sysvinit 2.87dsf-10
plymouth 0.8.1-1
keyboard-configuration 1.51
