Bug#569203: Debian: xpra: 569203: status?

2010-05-26 Thread Paul Wise
Hi Michael,

I'm wondering what the status of getting xpra into Debian is!

I'm sick of loosing my desktop session to Xorg bugs, is xpra a viable
solution to that?

2010-05-26 Thread Muhammad Akl
@ Jorge:

yes, i've searched a lot for this particular behaviour and found that almost
the roots that cause this problem are related to xen-kernels , but the
problem is that i don't have xen at all , this is a dedicated server only
running with apache2+php5 with no database backend !

@ Ben

well how can we know the real *roots* of this problem ?, this behaviour
happens randomly at no predetermined times

Bug#453906: durus: changing back from ITP to RFP

2010-05-26 Thread Simon Ruggier
Yikes, my apologies to the Debian community - I held off on uploading
an RFS for this package because I didn't end up using Durus for
myself: I didn't want to upload adopt a package I wasn't actively
using. I completely forgot I had an open ITP on it, or I would have
closed this myself.

If someone wants to adopt Durus, I can share the package I created in
2007 (it may need to be updated).

This is an emacs mode for editing ocaml program code. It therefore belongs

Bug#289884: Problem with compiler optimization (now with a patch)

2010-05-26 Thread Marc Pignat
Hi!

I think I've found the (very bad) joke!

I've extracted the code which detect alignment failures into a test/try.c, then
I tried it :

gcc -O0 -Wall -o try try.c && ./try
write failed (efbe)
pooky:~/test# gcc -O -Wall -o try try.c && ./try
pooky:~/test# gcc -O1 -Wall -o try try.c && ./try
pooky:~/test# gcc -O2 -Wall -o try try.c && ./try
pooky:~/test# gcc -O3 -Wall -o try try.c && ./try

Only the -O0 fails... the compiler seems to have optimized away most of our
test!!!

My proposed solution is to use the 'volatile' keyword to make sure the compiler
will really do the job.

Please note that it does not work with -O3, but the configure script compile
with
-O2, so this should be fine.

At this time I've only tested the Configure scripts, which now detects the
align problem on ARM. I'm compiling the whole thing to check if the md5 bug
goes away!

I hope this will fix this *5 years* old bug, and the upstream bug as well!

Best regards

Marc

No, that's not a read/write problem. The progressbar *is* showing the
write time, which is given originally by the filesystem.

Because that would slow down everything, imho. What you really want is
to mount your usb keys with the sync option.

Yes, Evolution uses the default http/https handlers, not the default

it's in gconf-editor in /desktop/gnome/url-handlers

Hope that helps.

Bug#575775: Mixes-up messages among unrelated folders

On 26 May 2010, at 21:35, Ricardo Mones wrote:

I was able to trigger the issue with both setups:

- two folders on the same (and only) account
- two inbox folders on different accounts

the contents of the large folder will be mixed in other folders.

Do you mean it will be mixed on the summary view or mixed in the
  same folder of the filesystem?

They get mixed in the summary view, and the message preview also
shows the wrong message. I never actually checked the filesystem, but
I will the next time.

Do you have any processing rules in the involved folders?

No processing rules.

I have several filtering rules to tag the color of the messages
depending on the subject though.

What I usually do is discard the folder cache, disable automatic
checking

of new messages (otherwise I end-up with the same issue) and restart
claws. With a folder containing at least 1k messages, it is almost
*guaranteed* that an automatic check of new mail will disrupt the
folder

content.

Don't understand this part: do you this for fixing the mix or for
  preventing it or what for?

To fix the mixing, I simply discard the folder cache and re-download
the folders. That's easy.

To avoid that the issue shows up again while doing _this_, though, I
also disable the automatic e-mail check to avoid claws trying to work
on two accounts at the same time, otherwise I end up with the same
issue.

I'm trying to setup the same environment in order to reproduce
your bug,

so thanks in advance for the info.

Thanks. I promised to look into claws sources, but I don't have time.
Let me know for any way I can help.

Bug#583312: since update to initscripts, sysv... to version 2.88.dfs-5 -- kdm "fails" to load

> nVidia driver, but a change made in these files.

With the introduction of parallel booting, stricter constraints on the
correctness of the dependency informatoin in init.d scripts is
introduced. If all init.d scripts have correct and complete
dependency information, the boot will work as it should, and without
complete and corect dependency information, it might fail. This is
not a bug with sysv-rc, but with the package providing the init.d
script with the incomplete or incorrect dependency information.

I do not know the packages installed on your machine, so it is hard to
guess which package is buggy. Could it be that the nvidia script fail
to specify that it need to run before kdm starts? Which packages are
involved?

Please provide the output from /usr/share/insserv/make-testsuite, to
make it possible to reproduce your boot sequence. If you have an idea
what script is buggy, try using

  /usr/share/insserv/check-initd-order -g > bootgraph.dot
  dotty bootgraph.dot

to review the dependencies.

Bug#583329: Overrides emacs23's newer elisp: ispell.el, flyspell.el

2010-05-26 Thread Trent W. Buck
Package: dictionaries-common
Version: 1.5.5
Severity: normal
File: /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50dictionaries-common.el
Usertags: emacs23-load-path-shadows

This package appears to provide old versions[0] of elisp libraries
that GNU Emacs 23 ships, and instructs GNU Emacs 23 to prefer these
old versions to its own.

Unfortunately, simply adding emacs23 to skip-emacs-flavors-list will
do the Wrong Thing, because you also provide a debian-ispell library,
which appears to provide functionality NOT already in GNU Emacs 23.

Ideas:

  - change postinst so that SOME site-lisp directories get flyspell,
ispell and debian-ispell, and some only get debian-ispell.

  - append (instead of prepending) to load-path, so that your
ispell/flyspell get lowest priority.

  - keep your flyspell and ispell copies up to date, and hope that
doesn't break older emacsen (probably a bad idea).

PS: you should use "mode: emacs-lisp", not "mode: lisp" for elisp
files. That should be the default behaviour anyway, so I suggest
removing the local variables stanza entirely.

[0] The libraries aren't versioned, but the copyright is certainly
older.

Those bugs are policy violations and make those packages FTBFS when using dash

Tag them squeeze-ignore if you want, but their severity is 'serious.'

I am guessing this is the same issue as the original bug, however
adding /lib/udev/rules.d/66-xorg-synaptics.rules as suggested by

The symptoms are identical. My touch pad ceased to support support
tap-to-click after the upgrade.

synclient -m doesn't seem to work either, giving the message:

I've set SHMConfig in xorg.conf, although the man page says it is no

Bug#583316: /usr/bin/gv: Insecure gs workaround "gs -P-"

2010-05-26 Thread paul . szabo
I have been using a wrapper around gs that sets both -P- -dSAFER.
That seems to work fine for viewing PS files, but does NOT allow
gv to work for PDFs: the (first?) invoked gs cannot have either of
those "security options" when attempting "gv some.pdf".

As with PS files, "gv /tmp/some.pdf" first does "chdir /tmp" then
invokes gs, which is rather unsafe without -P-.

I slightly wonder about the writing of the tmp file
  open("/tmp/gv_random_some.pdf.tmp", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666)
from within gs (no O_EXCL so would follow a symlink allowing clobber).

Cheers, Paul

Bug#550425: Info received (Bug#550425: sysv-rc: Unable to migrate to dependency based, boot system)

2010-05-26 Thread Robert McDonald
Just as a follow up to my previous post, I did purge the packages and I did
add headers to my custom init.d scripts (not entirely sure what I was doing)
so I was able to successfully convert to dependency-based boot. A reboot
went fine except for an error the first time I logged into gnome (no logon
server available). The next attempt went fine.

I wanted to clarify that in my previous report I meant that there were no
models for what to put in /etc/insserv/overrides.

Thanks.

Bug#583096: life: FTBFS (build-depends on libpetsc3.0.0-dev)

2010-05-26 Thread Christophe Prud'homme
Adam

thanks for the report

life and slepc have ben broken by petsc 3.1 upload and the fact that petsc
3.1 does not ship

/usr/lib/petsc/conf/base

Adam,

could you please ship this file with a new petsc upload so that I fix
life and slepc ?

Also the single lib build of petsc, though useful, also broke the
life. An email to the package depending

on petsc would have warn me of the possible breakage.

Hello,

It's probably the difference between the command line and the
executable. For most processes this is the same, but for the minority it
is different.

ps -o cmd, comm will usually show the difference, or look at
/proc//cmdline and /proc//stat

Bug#583326: thunar: right-clicking a file selects it but does not move keyboard focus

2010-05-26 Thread John Lindgren
Package: thunar
Version: 1.0.1-4
Severity: minor

Hi,

Like the subject says. Steps to reproduce:

1. Start Thunar.
2. Right-click on any file.
3. Press Escape to close the context menu.
4. Press the down arrow.

Expected behavior: the file below the one I clicked on is selected.
Actual behavior: the file at the very top of the list is selected.

(Left-clicking seems to move the keyboard focus. Right-clicking is the
problem.)

Peace,
John Lindgren

Bug#583325: thunar: copying progress is misleading because files are not synced to disk

2010-05-26 Thread John Lindgren
Package: thunar
Version: 1.0.1-4
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

When I'm copying a bunch of files from a fast file system (say, my hard
disk) to a slower one (say, an MP3 player), the progress bar that is
shown represents only the progress in reading the files, not writing
them. If the files are already loaded into cache memory (say, if I just
ripped them from a CD), the problem is even worse: the files are "read"
so quickly that no progress dialog is displayed. Thunar then locks up
unmounting the player, while all the files are written to disk, which
can be on the order of thirty seconds.

It seems that the files are merely being written to a kernel write
buffer; if so, the trivial fix would be to call fsync() before closing
each file that is written. I can't think of any reason not to do this.

Peace,
John Lindgren

Bug#550425: sysv-rc: Unable to migrate to dependency based, boot system

2010-05-26 Thread Robert McDonald

Dear Petter,

I encountered this message as well and was not certain what to do. The
sheer number of packages listed (probably 15 or so in my case) is
overwhelming and alarming. Reading the wiki helped me with the "removed
but not purged packages" but did not help me with the warnings like
"script 'K20upslog' missing LSB tags and overrides".

I have several suggestions.

1. The wiki reference could be at the top of the error message rather
than the bottom. This would help the user to see right away that this is
a known problem with a fix and not a severely broken installation.

2. It would be great if the install routine could offer to purge the
packages for you. I'm not sure what this would entail.

3. I still have no idea what to do about missing LSB tags. I look at
some of the files that do not receive this error and they appear to have
extra fields, and I look at /etc/insserv/overrides and it is empty, so I
have nothing to use as a model. My suggestion is that you either offer
to fix the files (again, no idea what this entails) or that you provide
very specific directions in the wiki.

Thank you.

Regards,

Bob McDonald

Description: Add multiple non-linear data fitting functions
One of the most used features in software for scientific data analysis is
the ability to perform non linear peak fitting (specifically Lorentzian and
Gaussian fits). Xmgrace sorely lacks this capability, unless you consider
 adding manually the required formula.
 .
This implements a substantial library of such functions and documentation
 for their use.

I built with
debuild -e CC=gcc-4.3 -b
and the build completed OK.

Bug#578293: thunar: copy and paste with CTRL-c CTRL-v doesn't always work

2010-05-26 Thread John Lindgren
Hi,

I have seen this bug now and then. I have no idea what causes it; it's
erratic and infrequent. From my experience, CTRL-C works fine; the
problem is with CTRL-V. I can press CTRL-V repeatedly with no result.
"Paste" from the right-click context menu still works.

Peace,
John Lindgren

One of three things happened:
- You are running a CPU hog
- The cooler is failing
- You moved the laptop and it is no longer cooled properly

Unless 'top' shows you a large figure for 'system time' there is no
kernel bug here.

Bug#583323: python-pivy: An error in source code prevents using soqt binding

2010-05-26 Thread Yorik van Havre
Package: python-pivy
Version: 0.5.0~svn765-2+b1

There is a wrong statement in pivy/gui/soqt.py on line 884, preventing using
the soqt part of pivy:
the line:

should be instead:

Since the source code is unmaintained, I guess you're the best person to do the
change, Teemu...

Bug#583322: jinput: FTBFS: Build-Depends-Indep entries -> B-D?

2010-05-26 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Package: jinput
Version: 20100502+dfsg-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

jinput's debian/control lists default-jdk and libjutils-java in
Build-Depends-Indep rather than Build-Depends even though the
override_dh_auto_build target in debian/rules relies on both AFAICT.
If it is somehow possible to build the architecture-specific content
without them, please adjust debian/rules to cope with their potential
absence; otherwise, please promote them to Build-Depends.

Thanks!

Bug#583321: Xrandr fails to enable external monitor connected after boot

2010-05-26 Thread Mike B.
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.5+1+b1

I'm using a Toshiba Portege 3000 laptop and trying to enable an external
monitor on the VGA port. When booting the laptop without an external monitor
and later connecting the external then Xrandr fails to set the external
monitor. There is just a blank screen and the monitor reports no VGA signal.
This happened with two different external monitors (Dell E1910 19" and a
Mitsubishi 40" wide screen). When booting the laptop with an external monitor
connected everything works fine.

Following http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495267
I've also tried (with the Dell E1910):
xrandr --output VGA --off
xrandr --output VGA --crtc 1 --mode 1280x800 --below LVDS

but it just produces a faded and cropped image which later disappears and gives
a blank screen.

some hardware data:
laptop uses Intel 945 chipset, 1280x800 Wide monitor

I've placed outputs from xrandr, lspci and Xorg.log.0 at
http://pastebin.com/adDRZpTZ

Thanks,
Mike.

Why don't you just modify it, using ldapmodify against the cn=config

I don't see anything here for Debian to do. I would suggest, of course,
using a current release, given the antiquity of 2.4.11 at this point.

Bug#583171: pcmanfm prevents fluxbox desktop to load correctly

2010-05-26 Thread michael hatzold

Am 26.05.2010, 17:22 Uhr, schrieb Andrew Lee :

Hi,

Please report to BTS instead of write me in private.

I oversaw it at first.

michael hatzold wrote:

Did you use '--desktop' option with it?

With fluxbox I use a startup file. There is an entry "pcmanfm &" which
opens pcmanfm in the background to speed up the start when I really need
it. I use this since I have installed fluxbox time ago.

I haven't use fluxbox myself. I assume you are answering my question
that you didnot use '--desktop' option with it.

I wasn't sure whether your question refered to fluxbox or pcmanfm. That's
why I answered as I did.

Now some strange observations:

1) When I comment out "pcmanfm &" with the _new_ version, fluxbox
desktop does not start completly (i.e no desktop BG and no icons) but
pcmanfm doesn't open during fluxbox gets loaded.

2) Now, when I go back to the testing version and still comment out
"pcmanfm &", it is the same, no BG and no icons and pcmanfm doesn't open
during fluxbox gets loaded.

3) If I now enable again "pcmanfm &" in the fluxbox startup file
fluxbox starts with desktop BG an icons and pcmanfm not in foreground.

I really do not understand this kind of interaction. Above all, # 2)
makes no sense at all.

What's the point above?

The point is: pcmanfm interacts with fluxbox BG and wallpaper settings. As
I see it, it should not and did not until the newest version.

If there is any testing I could do, please let me know.

Try to use 'pcmanfm --desktop &' instead.

Using newest version with 'pcmanfm --desktop &' reveals an unwanted
interaction between fluxbox and pcmanfm:

1) On startup fluxbox changes to the background colour, loads the desktop
icons but _not_ my wallpaper.
2) Then, when I right click, the fluxbox menue opens _AND_ the pcmanfm
context menue opens at the same time. Both windows overlap partially.

If I can help with further testing, let me know (but maybe it is easier to
install fluxbox, configure a BG and wallpaper and see yourself).

Greetings

Michael

Dear Ansgar and Gregor,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of NEW I had a look
at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the following
wiki page: http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

Fortunately, I have not found any problem with your copyright file :)

Have a nice day,

Source: libtext-wikiformat-perl
Version: 0.78-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

An new upstream release is available for sometime now (29 Jun 2007
according to CPAN).

It could be interesting to update the package.

Changelog[1]:
0.79
Fri Jun 29 01:43:12 UTC 2007 ($Rev: 4391 $, $Author: chromatic $)
- removed noisy and unnecessary diag() calls in tests
- fixed a magic @ISA assignment for 5.9.5 (Andreas Koenig)
- removed signature test (not that useful)

Tue Oct 10 04:46:55 UTC 2006 (Rev: 2945, Author: chromatic)
- removed directory changes in tests
- return merged hash from merge_hash()
- added hash merging tests from Derek Price (part of RT #21269)
- fixed nested lists error reported by Derek Price (RT #21269)

Best Regards

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#583318: apt-cacher-ng: hangs with a slow internet connection (must be restarted)

2010-05-26 Thread Patrick Zanon
Package: apt-cacher-ng
Version: 0.2.2-2
Severity: normal

With a slow internet connection (6kB/s) apt-cacher-ng hangs the clients
which are no longer able to download from internet new packages; clients open
a lot of connections to the apt-cacher-ng server, which continues its own
download but for the clients it is not possible to retrive the cached data.

The only solution is an apt-cacher restart with possible corruption of the
downloaded packages.

2010-05-26 Thread paul . szabo
The ghostscript people in
  http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691339
told me to use the -P- switch, and marked it "RESOLVED WONTFIX".

I guess -P- should be the default, as well as -dSAFER should be.

Cheers, Paul

Bug#581662: build-depends on libgudev-1.0-dev which doesn't exist on kbsd

2010-05-26 Thread peter green
Somehow the hurd stuff got accidently left out of the version of the
patch I posted. A revised version is attatched (still not actually
tested on hurd because I don't currently have a usable debian hurd system).

Since hurd is not a release architecture there is no hurry in uploading
the revised version of this patch.
Description: Fixes for non-linux ports
Add support for freebsd and hurd (hurd untested) to makefile
 .
Disable camera support (which appears to depend heavilly on gudev which in turn
depends on udev which is linux specific) on freebsd and hurd
 .
Fix a build issue with camera support disabled

Bug#583315: 2.6.32-5-amd64: overheating

2010-05-26 Thread Adnan Hodzic
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-13
File: 2.6.32-5-amd64
Severity: important
Tags: sid

I have problem with overheating, I just moved to 2.6.32-5 from
2.6.32-trunk and temperature has risen drastically.

Fan is working just fine, but the temperature is constantly around:

temp1: +82.0°C (crit = +127.0°C)
temp2: +80.0°C (crit = +100.0°C)

Last time I updated the system was couple of hours ago and FWIW I had
same problems a week ago on Ubuntu Lucid.

If you need any other information from me, please do let me know.

Adnan

Bug#583313: redmine: custom_field checkboxes don't update on rails < 2.3.4

2010-05-26 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Package: redmine
Version: 0.9.4-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

It seems that with boolean custom_fields the form elements to set and clear
the value need to be reversed when using rails < 2.3.4.

This commit needs to be backed out if we're going to use redmine with older
rails:

Depends. For general uploads there are no reasons to not do that. If
Ubuntu is close to different freezes/milestones there might be
releases pushed to ubuntu e.g. 0.2.XXubuntuY but those would be
hot-fixes for ubuntu something along the lines of 0day delay queue
NMU.

Yes and no with respect to root privileges, depends on the PolicyKit
setup on a particular machine.

"User and groups" doesn't ask for the password when you launch it from
"System -> Administration" and later depending on the requested task
PolicyKit kicks in and might ask a password.

Bug#583312: since update to initscripts, sysv... to version 2.88.dfs-5 -- kdm "fails" to load

2010-05-26 Thread Romane
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.88dsf-5
Severity: important

Immediately subsequent to update yesterday with version 2.88dsf-5 of
initscripts, sysv-rc, sysvinit
and sysvinit-utils, kdm "fails" to load at boot time. System is Squeeze,
complete wipe and totally
fresh install only two days ago. Prior to wipe was also running Squeeze. Using
nVidia GeForce 9600 GT.
For more than a year, has run perfectly, pre and post fresh install.

Since update, new message at boot saying running boot in concurrency.

At boot now, at point when screen would normally go black, then give whirling
cursor indication,
then logon screen, now goes black, then gives nVidia green logo for approx 7 to
8 seconds, then
drops to console.

Logging in as root, an attempt to manually start kdm will fail, with message
that kdm is running.
Issuing restart command works like a charm, and one is brought to the logon
screen. Usable workaround,
but highly inconvenient.

In the system log, we find that the nVidia kernel is being loaded, as follows:

2010-05-26 21:25:55 debian-main-pc kernel [5.509244] NVRM: loading
NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 256.25 Tue May 18 20:37:09 PDT 2010

Later in the boot sequence, these entries appear :

2010-05-26 21:26:12 debian-main-pc kdm[1466] X server startup timeout,
terminating
2010-05-26 21:26:12 debian-main-pc kdm[1466] X server for display :0
cannot be started,
session disabled

This occurs regardless the driver downloaded from nVidia, or the driver
installed via the repositories
both version 195.36.24. Also occurs with latest beta from nVidia.

kdm will start normally if nVidia xorg.conf file is deleted. However, as issue
only began with the
upgrade to these four files, it would appear that the issues lies not with kdm
or the nVidia driver,
but a change made in these files.

This does not help there; not every package has a meaningful name.

I should at least be tagged as so in its bzr main branch, before being
released. Also, Dmitrijs told me this afternoon, that the plan was to
release the version on Debian, so that it would get synchronized to
Ubuntu. Is that right?

Having different maintainers on Debian and Ubuntu is not an important
delta. Of course, it is helpful to have somebody from the team
co-maintaining the package in Debian. Also, I don't see the inconvenient
in keeping the Maintainer field as is (i.e. usb-creator Hackers Team)
and listing Dmitrijs and myself in the Uploaders list for the Debian
package.

What I am trying to say, is that usb-creator is a sort of "USB-writer
application" more than a local system configuration application. For
instance, you do not need root privileges to run usb-creator; whereas
GParted asks for the administrative password when launched from the
"System -> Administration" menu. Also, in Debian, "Disk Utility
(palimpsest)" appears in "Application/System tools":
-8<-8<-
~$ cat /usr/share/applications/palimpsest.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Disk Utility
(...)
Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;
-8<-8<-

This is why, I would rather see the usb-creator's menu shortcut in
"Application/System tools".

 Ignace M

Ah yes, but perhaps the filesystem was already mounted beforehand?
The mount will fail, but the filesystem is mounted so the backup can
proceed. Please suggest how to work around that.

It's definitely complete and what a new user expects :)

as a note to the Debian maintainer: I think the "REPORT BUGS" section
should be removed when uploading the new release to Debian or
highlight the Way in debian to report bug is thru the BTS.

Exactly :)

Besides, FTP-masters could not like that name because it's too generic
(and meaningless). So, before proceeding with the upload, you may want
to check with them how they feel about it.

any news about that? i don't know of any cryptsetup version that
supported remove/luksClose for unplugged (and thus disappeared) devices.

still, it would be great to add such functionality (see cryptsetup issue
53 - http://code.google.com/p/cryptsetup/issues/detail?id=53).

that works indeed, just tried it. a warning message is printed though:

# dmsetup remove crypt1
Node /dev/mapper/crypt1 was not removed by udev. Falling back to direct node
removal.

Hello Modestas,
as per your request (via IRC) I'll send a minimal version of a patch I'd like to
see included upstream. Apart from that, I'd like to see the part marked as
"TODO" done too, but don't have time to do so myself at the moment.

As I told you on IRC already: as I don't have an account with that tracker I'd
be very grateful, if you could forward the bug report for me. ;)

even if there is no formal maintainer, the package will be released
with squeeze. The (practically) only thing that leave a package out of
a release are RC bugs (release critical, that are those with severity
in ('serious', 'grave', 'critical')).

great for you: you'll need to learn a lot of new things to master

Bug#583309: xmms2-core ships with possible non-free audio file

2010-05-26 Thread Dave Page
Package: xmms2-core
Version: 0.7DrNo-5
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

The package xmms2-core ships with a 26-second clip of "Lament for Lost Dreams"
by mind.in.a.box as /usr/share/xmms2/mind.in.a.box-lament_snipplet.ogg

The file /usr/share/doc/xmms2-core/copyright does not mention copyright
information for this music clip. I'm assuming that while it might be freely
redistributable, it probably doesn't permit derivative works and is hence not
DSFG-compliant (DSFG 3). This means that the package containing it shouldn't be
in Debian main (Policy section 2.2.1).

Either way, if this file is actually OK, then it should be clarified in the
copyright information for the package.

Cheers,

Dave

gdc 4.3.4 does not work with gcc-4.3-base 4.3.5:

I think you forgot to give an explanation why you closed this
bug. Or was the closing done by accident?

The upgrade to 4.3.5 has only been done this weekend, and gcc has
to be compiled and uploaded first before gdc can be built against
it.

As for the bumping of gdc, has only been recently done, see link
for current status.
https://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=gdc-4.3

When it is uploaded for your architecture, update the package, then
try again. If problems persist, don't hesitate to reply back.

With the update, gdc works again. But the problem will re-appear with
gcc-4.3-base 4.3.6, unless you either change the dependencies or ship
the old symlink (4.3.5 -> 4.3), too. Therefore I think this bug is
still valid.

wrong. we should have kept the 4.3.4 symlink in the gcc-4.3 4.3.5-1 upload
instead. no need to change this now.

It indeed fix the bug. I thought about trying this at one moment but I forgot
after taking a look to the code.

No, I'm not MIA, but it's true that I've not maintained goocanvas
properly. Jeff contacted me, and later I forgot about the package
again.

I am compiling a new version as I am writing this email, with Jeff
patch as a basis. If everything goes well, I am uploading just now. If
not, I will contact you again.

Bug#575814: Affects also setting options with synclient

Hi,

This also affects trying to set some options with synclient:

Bug#436075: Possible fix

2010-05-26 Thread Fedde Schaeffer
I think I could fix the original problem in Ubuntu 10.04 (probably the
same version of Balazar Brothers, see output from apt below) by changing
the two lines

material=/home/jiba/src/balazar_brothers/images/fruit.png.xrf
material=/home/jiba/src/balazar_brothers/images/fasme.png.xrf

in /usr/share/games/balazar_brothers/animated_models/fruit/fruit.cfg to

material=fruit.crf
material=fasme.crf

to refer to files with similar names that ARE present. Using this files
the program does not complain about the files having an invalid format,
like it does with random other files, and the next level starts and
seems to work fine.

I think this reply is still relevant. This is information about the
version I have tried:
$ apt-cache policy balazarbrothers
balazarbrothers:
  Installed: 1.0~rc1-4
  Candidate: 1.0~rc1-4
  Version table:
 *** 1.0~rc1-4 0

Bug#583141: gcc-doc: claims "Invariant Sections" in the manpage that are not actually present: isn't the manpage DFSG free?

2010-05-26 Thread Matthias Klose

On 25.05.2010 19:58, Török Edwin wrote:

The gcc manpage says "with the Invariant Sections being "GNU General Public License" and
"Funding Free Software"", however
neither "GNU General Public License", nor "Funding Free Software" appears in
the manpage itself, hence the manpage can be
considered as not having any invariant sections.

The DFSG FAQ says "Data licensed under the FDL with no invariant sections are
considered DFSG-free as of GR 2006-001".

Could the manpage be moved back to the main archive? (probably by putting it
into the gcc package itself, or into another package?)

no, look at the upstream file gcc/doc/invoke.texi, with its explicit license.

Ubuntu does ship the manual pages including the (invariant) fsf-funding(7)
manual page. Just refactoring fsf-funding(7) into it's own manpage doesn't make
the *(1) man pages invariant-free.

Bug#583302: evolution: Ignores gnome default browser setting

Evolution is ignoring my preference for default web browser when I
click on links.

default-applications-properties is set to iceweasel,
x-www-browser is set to iceweasel
$BROWSER is set to iceweasel

and yet Evolution chooses chromium-browser instead.

This is in consonance with the contents of
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache and
Evolution runs runs through the applications there in order

Let me just ^C this build here

Can that be diff'ed against your previous patch? I've made some more changes

Bug#569804: NMU prepared

2010-05-26 Thread Willi Mann
Hi!

As Alexander Sack hasn't even answered any public request to do an
enigmail upload, I've prepared an NMU based in asac's Ubuntu package. It
is available from:

http://wserver.wm1.at/~willi/debian/various/pool/main/e/enigmail/

Alexander, in identi,ca you posted that you are currently on holidays.
However, you haven't answered requests about an upload even before.
Please tell us whether you want to veto the NMU as soon as possible.

Thorsten Werner, would you be willing to sponsor the upload? My proposal
is to do an NMU to DELAYED/7 once the package is considered ready to
give Alexander time to react.

As this is a "new upstream" NMU, it should receive some more review, and
it needs some real testing, for which I haven't had time so far. That's
why the version number currently contains ~wm1.

Alexander, I'd be willing to take this package over if you no longer
want to maintain enigmail in Debian and someone promises to sponsor my
uploads.

Willi

Problem is an OCaml stack overflow exception could be caught by the app
(menhir), but a segfault not...
AFAICT in native mode OCaml catches the sigsegv, figures out it is a
stack overflow and raises the appropriate exception

So it must be something wrong in OCaml's segfault -> stack_overflow
exception conversion code on x86_64.

I tried on x86-32 (same machine, in a chroot), and the stack overflow
was always caught, no segfaults.

I'm adding some printfs to the asmrun code in the sigsegv handler, and
here it is:
in asmrun/signals_asm.c:
 printf("segv at %p %p, %d %p - %p\n%p, %p - %p: %d", fault_addr,
((uintnat) fault_addr & (sizeof(intnat) - 1)),
getrlimit(RLIMIT_STACK, &limit),
system_stack_top,
system_stack_top - limit.rlim_cur - 0x2000,
CONTEXT_PC,
caml_code_area_start,
caml_code_area_end,
Is_in_code_area(CONTEXT_PC)
);

Output:
segv at 0x7fff38e30ff8 (nil), 0 0x7fff3962ff40 - 0x7fff3962df40
0x4b84a5, 0x41fee0 - 0x4aedd9: 0Segmentation fault

segv at 0x7fff417dfff0 (nil), 0 0x7fff41fdd1b0 - 0x7fff41fdb1b0
0x48b004, 0x41fee0 - 0x4aedd9: 1Fatal error: exception Stack_overflow

So Is_in_code_area is wrong, see above the crash is in caml_equal, yet
caml_code_area_end is below that address, and Is_in_code_area returns
false too.

Best regards,
--Edwin

Bug#583299: TMPREAPER_TIME= in /etc/tmpreaper.conf should override TMPTIME in /etc/default/rcS

2010-05-26 Thread v.nix.is
Package: tmpreaper
Version: 1.6.13
Severity: normal

Just setting TMPREAPER_TIME= in /etc/tmpreaper.conf does not work
because the /etc/cron.daily/tmpreaper script looks at TMPTIME in
/etc/default/rcS first, and if it's set to 0 (which is the default)
uses a 7d TMPREAPER_TIME.

To override that I have to specifically replace TMPTIME=0 with
TMPTIME= in /etc/default/rcS, then set TMPREAPER_TIME in
/etc/tmpreaper.conf, or just have it inherit its TMPREAPER_TIME value
from TMPTIME.

This makes it hard to have a TMPREAPER_TIME distinct from TMPTIME. It
should first evaluate /etc/tmpreaper.conf, and if TMPREAPER_TIME is
set there (or by the environment) it should not consider
/etc/default/rcS at all.

Bug#583298: mount_check() in dirvish-cronjob does not check properly if the mount failed

2010-05-26 Thread Jens Lang
Package: dirvish
Version: 1.2.1-1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

mount_check() checks for the presence of /lost+found in a mount point in order
to find out whether the mount succeeded. Instead, one should check the return
value of the mount command. If it is not equal to zero, the mount failed.
Otherwise, it must have succeeded.

Maybe, even the second check could be left out:
if stat $1 | grep 'Inode: 2[^0-9]' >/dev/null; then # ditto

This bug occurred on Ubuntu 10.04.
