Hey,

sorry for not replying sooner. Thank your for reporting issues on
evolution, but there's not enough manpower in evolution packaging team

Bug#569657: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the mod-mono package

2010-06-21 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of mod-mono and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the mod-mono Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs de es eu fi fr gl it ja nl pt ru sv ta tr vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: nl ta tr

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the mod-mono package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Sunday, June 27,
2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Monday, June 21, 2010 : send this notice
Sunday, June 27, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation
updates
Monday, June 28, 2010 : build the package and upload it to DELAYED/7-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Monday, July 05, 2010 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

When installing acgvision-agent on a fresh debian system, the command
acgvision-agent fails to launch the agent. It appears that the agent is
incompatible with the default gcj-jre.
When using the sun-java-jre or the openjdk-jre the program starts correctly.

There is a dependency problem or some missing libraries.

Bug#586629: frontaccounting: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2010-06-21 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: frontaccounting
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Thursday, June 03, 2010, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for frontaccounting.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading frontaccounting with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Thursday, June 24, 2010, when I
will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Thursday, July 15, 2010. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Friday, July 16, 2010, I will contact you again and will send a final
patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Bug#586632: [digikam] error trying to access kipi-plugins manuals (galleryexport) documentation

2010-06-21 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: digikam
Version: 2:1.2.0-5
Severity: important

From help:/digikam/menu-descriptions.html#export-menu
trying to access a kipi-plugins manual, such as galleryexport, results
in a fatal error:

The file or folder help:/kipi-plugins/galleryexport.html does not exist.

And indeed, that file is not in Debian.

This may be considered a digikam-doc bug.

In the case of Gallery Export, this seems to make the plugin unusable to me.

Bug#558275: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the ntlmaps package

2010-06-21 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of ntlmaps and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the ntlmaps Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

The package is currently translated to:
cs de es fr it pt ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: none

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the ntlmaps package so I can incorporate them in the build.

Bug#585524: hplip: the same problem

The same problem for HP LaserJet 5100 Series (ethernet connection).

 # lpstat -p
printer hp_laserjet_5100 disabled since Mon Jun 21 10:30:53 2010 -
/usr/lib/cups/backend/socket failed

The permisions of /usr/lib/cups/backend/socket were 555
-r-xr-xr-x 2 root root 29988 Apr 9 21:02 socket

 After changing permisions of /usr/lib/cups/backend/socket
 to 700 it works correctly.

It seems that this is rather a bug of cups, but not of hplip.

Hi

It appears that the agent is incompatible with the default gcj-jre

Actually the default java in Squeeze is openjdk-6.

There is a dependency problem or some missing libraries.

Do you have the names of the missing libraries or just the classes it is
missing?

this is impossible to resolve without some sort of test case.

I have an explicit file which causes this problem:
/usr/share/doc/haskell98-report/haskell98-report.pdf.gz
in the haskell98-report package (version 20080907-1).

Bug#586635: jetty: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*

Source: jetty
Version: 6.1.24-3
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hi,

your package no longer builds on kfreebsd-*. One possible outcome is a
plain and simple “Bus error”, which happens on some buildds for some
to-be-investigated reason, for java packages in general. In which case
I simply give the package back at the moment.

The other possible outcome is the following:

 The culprit acts in

The code does not seem easily maintainable, so I can offer no quick
resolution. Let me just remark that the easiest testing can be done
 using the call

 $ RES_OPTIONS=inet6  nmap -v -p 22 ipv6.google.com

This avoids the insertion of 'options inet6' in '/etc/resolv.conf'.

Thanks for your report and help. We believe it is now fixed in our
latest SVN, as described here:

Bug#579948: [parted-devel] Some debugging info

2010-06-21 Thread Hans de Goede

Hi,

I did not realize that partitions starts must be
cylinder aligned on Sun, ack for the patch reverting
the Sun disklabel part of my patch.

Regards,

parted-devel, can anyone comment on this? It seems to me that either
(a) _get_lax_constraint should be using ped_alignment_any for its start

Sun labels really and truly require cylinder alignment, in which case
requests to use optimal alignment shouldn't be honoured.

The begin of the partition has to be defined in cylinders:

 struct __attribute__ ((packed)) _SunRawPartition {
 u_int32_t start_cylinder; /* where the part starts... */
 u_int32_t num_sectors;/* ...and it's length */
 };

IMHO it does not make sense to use non-cylinder alignment here.

In that case, I think that the sun part of
723ea23c5df68cbe67d1f518ef484f4c77f516fa should be reverted. CCing Hans
since that was his change.

I have tried this patch out (by building custom
libparted0-udeb_2.2-7_sparc.udeb and parted-udeb_2.2-7_sparc.udeb, and
fetching/installing them during installation, before partitioning
step). Unfortunately, I still get 16.8GB partitions, even though their
size is now calculated correctly, so I don't get free space gaps as
before. Example from the installer log:

Well, this is all clearly succeeding. My guess is that you aren't
actually booting from /dev/sda and that there's some other core image
lying around somewhere which is out of date, but it's hard to guess at
more detail than that given the information available so far.

Please see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=586142#25

Bug#578892: xpdf: keyboard shortcuts for zooming (w/z) don't work anymore

2010-06-21 Thread Emmanuel Thomé

Hi,

This annoying bug, apparent in xpdf_3.02-2, is caused by
xpdf-zoom-height.patch, notably the following bit:

   { windowMode,  0, gFalse, gFalse, XPDFViewer::cmdWindowMode },
   { zoomFitPage, 0, gFalse, gFalse, XPDFViewer::cmdZoomFitPage

   { zoomOut, 0, gFalse, gFalse, XPDFViewer::cmdZoomOut },

Indeed, that list is searched by a dichotomy algorithm in XPDFViewer::execCmd.

Thus zoomFitHeight must be inserted *before* zoomFitPage.

only the 'O' of 'OK' is accepted. if i initiate a 'hang up' via minicom

the new version '3.1.9' of smstools will fix this problem.

Bug#564217: [luatex] unresolvable dependency cycle

2010-06-21 Thread Hilmar Preusse
On 08.01.10 Daniel Herzog (her...@luftgetrock.net) wrote:

Hi Daniel,

 Package: luatex
 Version: 0.50.0-1
 Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

 Steps to reproduce.
 1. context (2008.05.21-1) is installed, depends on texlive-base-bin
(= 2007) and recommends luatex (any).
 2. luatex (0.28.0-2) got installed.
 3. luatex (0.50.0-1) became available, collides with texlive-base-bin
 ( 2008).
 4. Only texlive-base-bin (2007.dfsg.2-8) is available.

Results in the following cycle (default solution):
 1. Downgrade texlive-base-bin (2007.dfsg.2-8) to
 (2007.dfsg.2-4+lenny1).
 2. Upgrade texlive-base-bin (2007.dfsg.2-4+lenny1) to
 texlive-base-bin
 (2007.dfsg.2-8).
 3. Go to 1.

 Alternative solution:
 a) remove luatex and
 b) keep texlive-base-bin (2007.dfsg.2-8) and
 c) keep texlive-luatex [(not installed) and
 d) ignore context recommends luatex

texlive-binaries seems to be involved as the provider of a virtual package.

 Both solutions aren't prefect.
 Can you resolve this issue?

AFAICT that report is only valid as long as TL 2009 is not in
testing. TL 2009 is in testing for a while, can we close that bug?

Bug#581312: [Pkg-acpi-devel] Bug#581312: acpi-support: Wireless toggling is broken

On 15 June 2010 18:47, Michael Meskes mes...@debian.org wrote:

Is it possible to keep the old stuff as a fall back solution? Would that make
 sense at all?

I think it would be hard to do (the main problem is that rfkill
devices are not uniquely linked to wireless interfaces, so trying to
use both systems would lead to any kind of trouble), and I don't know
if it makes sense. Is it really a common use case to update
acpi-support while still using a very old kernel?

There seems to be a problem with that file though as it adds a dependency on
 wicd. Is this on purpose?

Mmm, does it? if you mean the line
/usr/share/wicd/daemon/autoconnect.py || :
it won't fail if wicd isn't installed, since it's ORred with true
(well, it spits an error line, but then it returns 0), and I don't
propose to make acpi-support depend on wicd. It's just that wicd
doesn't reconnect after toggling wifi off and on if you don't poke it
(wpa_supplicant and Network Manager do, AFAIK)
I can change it with
[ -x /usr/share/wicd/daemon/autoconnect.py ]
/usr/share/wicd/daemon/autoconnect.py
if you prefer.
Cheers,

Luca

Hence, every print job, and every scan job is accompanied by a slew

I'd prefer if hplip didn't vacuously depend on obviously optional
stuff (printing and scanning work), but the trend is obvious and
ubiquitous and fighting gratuitous dependencies is like fending off
the incoming flood with a sieve./rant

Assuming hplip cannot dlopen() d-bus stuff and thus make it
a recommendation, rather than a hard dependency, at least it would
be nice if it noticed once at the start that d-bus is not working on
the system and shuts up about it subsequently.

Actually I am using libvirt to avoid this kind of problems.

True but to track this down we need to find out if it's kvm of libvirt
(I suspect the former).

It seems that there is no problem using kvm. Here is the
procedure I tried:

on my desktop pc:

/usr/bin/kvm \
-enable-kvm -m 1024 -name migtest -vnc :14 \
-boot c \
-drive file=/storage/migtest/vda.img,id=drive-virtio-disk0,boot=on

(/storage is a NFS partition mounted on all virtualization hosts.)

on the new host:

/usr/bin/kvm \
-enable-kvm -m 1024 -name migtest -vnc :14 \
-boot c \
-drive file=/storage/migtest/vda.img,id=drive-virtio-disk0,boot=on \
-incoming tcp:0:

When the guest completed booting I entered the qemu monitor
for this guest to run

migrate -d tcp:fw02:

After that the kvm session on my desktop went away. I could
connect via vnc to the new host. There were no problems on
the guest.

After stopping all kvm sessions I tried the same procedure
using virsh and the same source and destination hosts: The
file system problems were back :-(.

Do you think you could try to reproduce this.

Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID) resync/check implicated

2010-06-21 Thread Ian Jackson
Ben Hutchings writes (Re: Bug#584881: Lockups under heavy disk IO; md (RAID)
resync/check implicated):
We really need to see the kernel messages reporting soft-lockup.

There aren't any. Or, if there are, it isn't printing them to the
serial console. Perhaps it is trying to send them only to syslogd
which obviously can't write to the disk either.

I know that the serial console is working after the crash as it echoes
my first carriage return (although then login or the shell wedges
before being able to print a prompt). I could have asked for a magic
sysrq process dump but given that the process table is probably full I
expect this would take many hours at 9600bps.

Note that your disk configuration is unusual and probably not
well-tested by others. It is unlikely that anyone in the kernel team
will be able to debug this as I don't think any of us have particular
 expertise in this area.

Search the web suggests that symptoms very similar to mine are not
uncommon, including instances without soft lockup messages, and none
of the other users seem to have a similar disk layout.

I can't easily test this theory but I think the unusual disk layout is
probably simply making a race easier to trigger.

If you have the opportunity, it would be
helpful if you could test a newer kernel version. This would give us a
clue as to whether the bug has subsequently been fixed upstream, and if
not then it would be the basis for an upstream bug report.

Unfortunately testing this bug on the live system involves (a) risking
a crash and then if the test fails (b) an extremely vulnerable system
without backups for the following four days.

I'll see if I can borrow a spare R210 from Jump, in which case I may
be able to reproduce the problem in controlled conditions on my coffee
table at home (and with access to the VGA console). Which kernel
should I test in that case ?

Ian.

sane-find-scanner relies on a number of heuristics to detect and report
devices attached to the host system that can possibly be scanners.

As there is no definitive method to identify a scanner, heuristics need
to be added to detect new scanners that do not fall into the exisiting
heuristics.

Since you have access to the actual hardware, you're in a position to
develop, test and propose new heuristics for this particular

Note that in your particular case, this hardware is supported by hplip,

I was not aware of NS servers doing such check described in the bug, but
the tests sort of makes sense. I'm pinging upstream to know what he
thinks of the feature and downgrading the bug as wishlist.

Thanks

Bug#586300: A possible solution

2010-06-21 Thread martin f krafft
also sprach martin f krafft madd...@debian.org [2010.06.21.1220 +0200]:
See attached. This solution relies on vcquery printing more than two
tab-separated field and including the value of NICKNAME in the
third column. The m_vcf script greps across the entire line, but
then only returns the first two fields.

This is also necessary, or else the fullname will be split at
whitespace. Setting $IFS ensures that lines are properly parsed and
split on tab characters.

Bug#586494: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686: Dell PowerEdge 4200's don't work with 2.6.26

2010-06-21 Thread trouble daemon
Ben,

Another option that may be worth trying is 'noapic'.

Wow, that worked just fine actually on 2.6.26 stock kernel. Thanks a lot!

I am curious though, what in the world changed since 2.6.18 and lower
versions that might have required noapic? I've seen the option needed
by so many people on many occasions, but I've never needed it until
now. Any ideas? BTW, I also attached the dmesg for 2.6.26 working just
for reference to anyone else who might stumble upon this bug, and for
your curiosity as well.

You need to get the corresponding linux-base package from testing or
experimental, but the other dependencies should be satisfiable in lenny.

FWIW, I did try grab linux-base too, but it then wanted to pull in a
bunch of other packages to do with perl and stuff, so I just opted to
recompile using the config and the source package and backport it
manually with less hassle (assuming 5 hour compiles are less hassle
lol).

Also, I did try 2.6.32 from squeeze (after removing the lguest
makefile line stopping the compile) and the vanilla 2.6.34 (after a
UTS issue that involved tweaking /linux/ path to /generated/) kernel
with noapic, and everything worked flawlessly. A shame it took an hour
to hand configure 2.6.34 though, but at least I know to disable apic
now.

Anyways, thank you Obi-Wan Kenobi, errr, old Ben Kenobi ;)

We switched from IDE drivers to libata-based drivers in 2.6.32-10. My
suspicion is that this is a bug in ide-cd which will no longer apply.

I hope that Maildir support can be added back before the release of
Squeeze.

Yes, Maildir support has been dropped from UW-imap as announced in the
NEWS file of 8:2007b~dfsg-2.

Unfortunately this will *not* be corrected as Maildir support was not
part of the main UW-imap and the patch to implement this feature was
never released as DFSG-free code (i.e. it was wrong of me to apply it in
the first place).

(sorry if you received this bug twice)

No problem.

I strongly recommend that you install the package apt-listchanges so as
to get informed of important packaging changes provided in NEWS files.

Package: alsa-base

Alsa is far too complicated to set up with multiple devices. It should
just work with all devices available (including hot plugged devices)
and whether they use module or compiled into kernel drivers. All inputs
should be mixed into a single stream which is then output to all output
devices simultaneously leaving the user to use alsamixer to select which
devices they want to use.

Bug#567942: coccinelle: preparation for python 2.6 transition

Hi Steve,

I'll upload fixed version of coccinelle later today. I think no

pycaml has been transitioned now to python2.6 in unstable. Is there
anything else holding up the fix for this bug? I realize it's only been RC

Is the correct fix to drop the python2.5-dev build-dependency altogether, or
to replace it with python-dev? A build-dep on python2.6-dev definitely
 looks wrong to me.

 See http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts/DependencyBasedBoot for

reattempt the migration process run 'dpkg-reconfigure sysv-rc'.

Yes, this seem to be correctly done by sysv-rc and insserv.
libdevmapper left behind its init.d scripts, and this block migration
to dependency based boot sequencing. Purging the package or removing
the script and trying the migration process again will probably work.

Where the instructions incomplete or are they confusing? Why do you
 report a bug?

The error message is unclear to say what actions sould the administrator
do. Suggestion, please add information how to proceed.

In this case, the actions needed were:

apt-get --purge remove libdevmapper*
apt-get install grub-pc
... reconfigure grub

dpkg-reconfigure --priority=low sysv-rc

On Sat, 3 Apr 2004 16:49:18, Pierre THIERRY wrote:
My expectation is that in most cases svnserve is used on conjunction

No, in the contrary, the SSH tunneling is more an option than the main
use case. Taken from the SVN website (http://subversion.tigris.org/)Â :

Subversion also offers a standalone server option using a custom
protocol (not everyone wants to run Apache 2.x). The standalone server
can run as an inetd service, or in daemon mode, and offers basic
authentication and authorization. It can also be tunnelled over ssh.

The documentation now at
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn-book.html#svn.serverconfig.choosing.recommendations
recommends against SSH tunnelling, saying:

In general, the authors of this book recommend a vanilla svnserve
installation for small teams just trying to get started with a Subversion
server; it's the simplest to set up and has the fewest maintenance issues.

It goes on to recommend using svnserve with SASL if encryption is required,
instead of tunnelling with SSH which is effectively the same as local users
accessing via file://, which in turn is strongly discouraged.

Bug#513366: openerp-web toolbars not clickable

I had the same with toolbar not being clickable. I resolved this by
1. making symlinks

/usr/share/pyshared/openerp/static/javascript/MochiKit
 /usr/share/openerp-web/javascript/tiny_mce -
/usr/share/pyshared/openerp/static/javascript/tiny_mce
 /usr/share/openerp-web/workflow/javascript/draw2d/mootools.js -
/usr/share/pyshared/openerp/static/workflow/javascript/draw2d/mootools.js
2. changed /usr/share/pyshared/openerp/widgets/base/resource.py line 37
to this:

 self.link = /static/%s % (self.filename)

In general I think all files in /usr/share/pyshared/openerp/static
should be all moved to /usr/share/openerp-web. The code needs some
patches as well, but I don't know the codebase well enough to make those
changes. I suppose widgets/form.py and widgets/base/resource.py need
modification, as they contain wrong URL cp_widgets.

It doesn't always, and that's really the problem. avant-window-navigator

I even asked their devs about it, and basically they said the
application should set skip taskbar itself -- the opposite of what you
suggest! What I see here is two groups pointing fingers at each other,
which solves exactly nothing.

While it's certainly possible (with a sufficiently sophisticated window
manager, like Compiz) to forcibly add skip taskbar to all utility
windows, not every user of Gimp is likely to know how to do this. Not
every window manager is capable of doing this, either; I don't seem to
remember Metacity having any way of changing window manager hints like
that.

 ...

The problem is gcc. If you use -O0 or even -O1 it will work, but not with -O2
which is default. Next version will not use default CFLAGS.

Bug#586189: canon lide 100 in devel branch

2010-06-21 Thread Peter Gervai

Please package - even if experimental - the current devel branch, which
includes the new 'genesys' backend, which in turn now seems to support
CanoScan LiDE 100, LiDE 200 and others.

I'll look into it but I won't make any promises.

Completely acceptable, thank you. (It would play nicely in the
experimental distribution, but as far as I see it needs some packaking
effort compared to the current version.)

No text? Why do you write all the text in the mail subject?

Anyway, you report this bug on stable - and that's a typoe of bugs
which will never be fixed in stable - stable only gets updates for
really important bugs and/or security.

Please try with a more uptodate version (like the 3.2.0 from
lenny-backports)

And you probably should provide more details anyway. Which menus?
Where it is shown? (Anyway, I am fairly sure this is already
reported anyways)

Bug#586653: evolution-exchange: crashes after entering exchange passwd

2010-06-21 Thread thah...@t-online.de

Package: evolution-exchange
Version: 2.30.1-2+b1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

It's a new evolution release and as usual exchange doesn't work anymore:
After entering the exchange passwd I get something like:

(evolution:4585): e-utils-WARNING **: GConf error:

Sometimes I get the

has been started.

If there is anything I can do to further debug this issue, please let me
know.

Bug#586618: Finding wrong packages in depencency list (Was: education-desktop-lxde: Mistake in its suggested packages)

2010-06-21 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

when reading this bug report I would like to *repeat* my hint which
I have given since about 1.5 years in different forms that anybody
with a login on Alioth can see this kind of problems by doing a

   less
/var/lib/gforge/chroot/home/users/tille/blends/webtools/logs/debian-edu.err

For your comfort I'm attaching a (little bit stripped) version from
today in the end of this mail. I would strongly advise to browse your
tasks files for the packages below and check for the reasons why the
packages mentioned in the log are not in the Debian package pool. The
reasons might be various. One might be misspellings as in this bug
report and there might be more of them which needs fixing. Other
reasons might be that a package was removed from Debian - it makes
no sense to keep them in the tasks files any more. A further reason
might be that you wanted to add the package as a prospective package
but forgot the Pkg-Description field in the tasks file.

If you want to prevent bugs like this just work down this list.

BTW, I fixed this actual bug in SVN.

Kind regards

  Andreas.
