Bug#593084: soundkonverter: cannot specify exact lame command line
Package: soundkonverter Version: 0.9.91-1 Severity: normal It's been a while since I used Soundkonverter, but in version 1.0.0beta2 I have noticed that I can no longer specify the exact LAME command line I need. I suspect that the squiddly twiddly menu widgets corresponding to Insane, Quality: 0, and Quality: 2 correspond to --preset insane, -V0, and -V2, respectively, but without access to things like --resample, -q n, and various other things, the package is now literally completely useless to me. I guess I could fiddle with widgets for a couple of hours and use the process list to find out what it's passing to lame, but I know exactly what I need, and fighting with Soundkonverter until I persuade its new widgets to produce the desired command line is just going to take me longer than it will take to write this bug report and then manually decode, re-encode, and tag everything I'm working on right now. My use of Soundkonverter was 100% as a front-end to automate decoding of FLAC files and the subsequent tagging and organizing of MP3s for which I had absolute control of the LAME command line. Without the capability to control precisely and exactly every single LAME command line option, Soundkonverter is now just dead weight on my disk. Frankly, I couldn't care less what's on the Simple tab, but the Detailed tab is now just more confusing to beginner users and useless to me. I sincerely hope to see Soundkonverter ship in the future with the option once again to completely control the LAME command line. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-3-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages soundkonverter depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1 runtime components from the offici ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.4-8 GCC support library ii libkcddb4 4:4.4.5-1 CDDB library for KDE Platform (run ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-1 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-1 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkfile4 4:4.4.5-1 the File Selection Dialog Library ii libkio5 4:4.4.5-1 the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-network4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-svg4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 SVG module ii libqt4-xml4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore44:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 GUI module ii libsolid4 4:4.4.5-1 Solid Library for KDE Platform ii libstdc++64.4.4-8The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtag1c2a1.6.3-1TagLib Audio Meta-Data Library Versions of packages soundkonverter recommends: ii cdda2wav9:1.1.10-1 Dummy transition package for iceda ii cdparanoia 3.10.2+debian-9 audio extraction tool for sampling ii faad2.7-4freeware Advanced Audio Decoder pl pn ffmpeg none (no description available) ii flac1.2.1-2+b1 Free Lossless Audio Codec - comman ii kdemultimedia-k 4:4.4.5-1transparent audio CD access for ap ii mp3gain 1.5.1-3 Lossless mp3 normalizer with stati ii mplayer 2:1.0~rc3++final.dfsg1-1 movie player for Unix-like systems ii mppenc 1.16-1 Musepack lossy audio codec encoder ii speex 1.2~rc1-1The Speex codec command line tools ii timidity2.13.2-39+b1 Software sound renderer (MIDI sequ ii vorbis-tools1.4.0-1 several Ogg Vorbis tools ii vorbisgain 0.36-3.1 add Replay Gain volume tags to Ogg ii wavpack 4.60.1-1 an audio codec (lossy and lossless soundkonverter suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#592880: Fails to start with missing /etc/collectd/conf.d directory
Hi, On Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 09:13:31AM +0200, Florian Forster wrote: On Fri, Aug 13, 2010 at 05:46:52PM +0200, Reinhard Tartler wrote: In the lenny version, this worked just fine and collectd continued to work. After double-checking this, the daemon should report that error but continue to run, both in versions 4.4 and 4.9 as well as current master. I've tried that using 4.9.1-2~bpo50+1 on amd64. (The code handling Include ignores an error reported by the function parsing the config file.) That error might be a bit misleading, though. This could be fixed by letting the Include code return a message telling the user that the file is ignored. the code in question uses the wordexp(3) function to do a shell-like pattern expansion. Like the shell, the expansion only takes place if a file actually matches the pattern, otherwise the argument / pattern is passed on / returned as is. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, no indication of this condition is given. I couldn't find anything like that either :-/ So the described behavior is expected and has been like this since the feature was introduced in version 4.3 (Lenny features 4.4.2-3). If you have any idea how I could detect a pattern not found condition, please let me know. Well, in case wordexp() returned a single match and that file does not exist and the filename includes any of the characters '*', '?' or '[' (wordexp() should return an error already, if there is an unmatched bracket, I presume) and if that character is not escaped, that file could be ignored. Not quite sure if that's worth the effort, though, and I suppose it does not really match the behavior of other software. The only idea why the Lenny package behaved differently I can come up with right now is, if the Lenny package shipped a file matching that pattern. A quick look at the files in the 4.4.2-3 package doesn't support this thesis though. I suppose that with version 4.4 that error did not show up on stdout/ stderr. Obviously we cannot have this changed for Squeeze anymore, so it'll have to be postponed for a bit. Are you taking smarty over? Yes, as per http://bugs.debian.org/592797 But this won't work automatically if plugins are installed in libs/plugins/. You will have to add a preinst snippet that moves files around... /usr/share is the domain of the packaging system. So if there's anything in libs/plugins, that is installed by another package and we should rather not be moving that around in preinst. Those packages should be updated instead, no? You indicate this already for smarty-gettext and smarty-validate. Yes, they must be updated instead. Smarty will have to add conflicts:/breaks: statements to ensure they are upgraded. But there's the possibility that some plugins have been manually installed by the user. With breaks, you would have to setup the symlink in postinst because that's the only point where you can be sure that the other packages have been upgraded. With conflicts, you know in preinst already that other packages have been removed or upgraded already and you can deal with the symlink there in that case. Yes. This would mean that if there are locally created Debian packages of those plugins then we would also be fiddling with their content. But perhaps there's no perfect solution and moving things over is the best of both options. After all it would leave the debootstrap without apt (which is the current default behaviour, I know). How useful is this, really? I know that apt is not strictly necessary, as you can get all deps installed by debootstrap as well, but you cannot even pull in updates. What's the use case? I would like to know if such changes could be me made. I'd be happy to make this sort of change, or accept patches to do this. Please find attached a patch against the current git repository in order to provide POT files to translators, and build translated documentation. 1. You first want to run po4a man/po4a/po4a.cfg in order to populate the POT file (man/po4a/po/schroot-man.pot here, the name is arbitrary). 2. The POT file should then be proposed to translators. Once you received one (fr.po for example), you just have to put it in man/po4a/po/. If you receive an addendum (fr.add for example), just put it a the new sub-directory man/po4a/add_fr/. 3. If there are some translations, run po4a man/po4a/po4a.cfg in order to update PO and POT files and build the translated documentation (for example, French translation of man/schroot.1.in will be build in man/translated/fr/schroot.1.in). 4. You also probably want to add a clean rule in order to delete the directory man/translated (which will contain, in subdirectories, the translated documentation build by po4a man/po4a/po4a.cfg): it doesn't need to be saved in your VCS, just keep the PO and POT files. I'm not sure of how you want to configure stuff with Autotools, but: point 1: just need to be done once you've applied the patch. point 2: just need to be done once you receive a translation. point 3: it should be done before creating the tarball, thus the proposed rule added in the dist-hook target. point 4: you should add a clean rule somewhere. You also off course need to actually build and install the translated manual pages (from man/translated/$lang/manpages.#.in), but it can wait until you actually receive some translation. translated pdf and ps can also be provided. Many thanks for all your help with this. I'm afraid I'm quite busy with my PhD at the moment, but I hope to get this included soon, hopefully for Squeeze but that might not be possible. Bug#589737: Grub2 upadate - multiple partitions on netbook - eeepc, acer aspire, etc
Hi, I'm running debian sid/squeeze on an eeepc 1000 with multiple flash hard-drives. I have a separate partition (sda1) for /boot. My /root (sda2) and /home (sdb1) are also on separate partitions which are encrypted. [see below partition table for reference] The problem started when I recently accepted an update to install grub2 on my machine. After updating the software, I rebooted to the following error: Unknown symbol error in grub2 : 'grub_xputs' I hope this helps anyone else with this problem. I have read somewhere that multiple drives will cause problems with grub2. Here's what I did to remove the update and restore my system to the previous grub-legacy. 1. Get the cd which you used to install your system or the current 'live' cd. 2. Reboot your system and boot from the cd media. 3. At the splash screen prompt move the indicator from 'Install' past 'Advanced' to 'Help' and press [enter]. 4. Enter 'rescue' (without quotes) in command prompt 5. debian installer with blue screen will start. You should see 'Rescue' in the upper left-hand corner of the screen (you will not partition any drives in this mode). You will need to select language, location, and keyboard (English, USA is default). 6. the installer will try to configure the network. You can skip through this step or continue without configuring when prompted to do so. 7. You should be prompted to drop to shell in /root. You should choose the partition which /root is mounted on... If your /root is encrypted like mine, you will also be prompted for the passphrase in order to mount the partition. 8. Once you have been dropped into terminal mode [note the '#' symbol at the left-bottom of screen], mount the partition where your /boot files are located. In my system, this is partition 'sda1'. Therefore type (without quotes)#: 'mount /dev/sdXN' [where 'X' is the LETTER and 'N' is the NUMBER of the boot drive on your system] 9. You will now remove the grub2 update and restore the working grub-legacy so that you can boot into your system. You must note which drive letter [NOT NUMBER] will boot your system (on my system, drive 'sdX' is partitioned into two drives. Drive 'sdX1' is the boot drive but for these purposes, I am interested to install to the MBR (Master Boot Record) of drive 'sdX' [again drive LETTER, not NUMBER -where 'X' represents the drive letter which boots your system] 10. Type the following lines when prompted: sudo aptitude purge grub2 grub-pc sudo aptitude install grub sudo update-grub sudo grub-install /dev/sdX [see #9 above, drive letter, not number] 11. reboot system 12. enjoy your operating system again below is my partition table as an illustrative example: Disk /dev/sda: 8069 MB, 8069677056 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 981 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x294a294a Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 16 120832 83 Linux Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda2 16 853 6726656 83 Linux Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary. Bug#593087: xinput buttons not recognized correctly
Package: libgtk2.0-0 Version: 2.20.1 In recent gtk2 versions, xinput button events (in my case from a wacom tablet, other devices probably as well) do not work correctly any more. Normal GUI usage is ok, only programs that actually handle extended input devices (gimp/inkscape) are affected: Button events on the canvas are only recognized, if 2 buttons are down at the same time. With a 2-button stylus for example, drawing (button 1, normally just by touching the tablet with the stylus) only works, if another button is pressed before the button hits the tablet. The other way around, normally the context menu is accessed by pressing button 3 (the rear of the rocker switch) without touching the tablet; this now only works if I 1st push the stylus on the tablet and then press the button. It is evident, that the problem lies within gtk2; on my base system (libgtk2.0-0 version 2.12.12-1~lenny2) the input buttons work as expected in inkscape and gimp. I 1st ran into this problem after having installed gtk 2.18 from backports.org, after downgrading back to 2.12 things work normal again. The same problem also occurs when running from a freshly installed squeeze in a chroot environment. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. On Thu, Aug 12, 2010 at 02:37:53PM +0200, Luk Bettale wrote: I am not an elisp expert but I think this is due to an update of the called-interactively-p function which does not take optional argument anymore. I confirm that this fix works for me as well. Thanks for finding the problem. This indeed changed in Emacs 23.2: http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/NEWS.23.2 called-interactively-p now takes one argument and replaces interactive-p which is now marked obsolete. I'd also like to note that due to this change, the Elisp documentation available in Squeeze (emacs23-common-non-dfsg 23.2+1-1) contradicts the actual behaviour (emacs23 23.1+1-5): -- Function: called-interactively-p kind This function returns `t' when the calling function was called using `call-interactively'. The argument KIND should be either the symbol `interactive' or the symbol `any'. So either Emacs in Squeeze should be upgraded to v23.2 or its documentation downgraded to v23.1 For dictionaries-common, perhaps using `interactive-p' is enough to fix the problem, because although the function is deprecated in the latest Emacs version, it should work OK in both. Bug#592506: What to do about libtest-harness-perl?
We have a new upstream version of Test::Harness from CPAN. I have just packaged this version and given that this fixes an issue currently in test, we need to know whether this should be uploaded in time to get into squeeze. The rough history is as follows: Current stable version is 3.12-1. Testing/unstable version is 3.20-1. As per bug #592506 there is a serious issue introduced since upstream 3.17. There is theoretically a patch in the upstream repository. We had 3.21-1 in our repository until today. Upstream have issued a new release 3.22 that includes the patch. I have just packaged that into 3.22-1 where it is sitting waiting on your advice. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#593093: Please provide a matchbox-window-manager udeb
Package: matchbox-window-manager Version: 1.2-4 Severity: wishlist Tags: d-i patch I'm currently working on Debian Installer for the FreeRunner, and, as it doesn't have a physical keyboard, the graphical installer would be useless without an on-screen keyboard. I chose to use matchbox-keyboard to provide an on-screen keyboard, as it has few dependencies and provides a GTK input method module (so the screen can pop only when needed). However, in order to run properly, matchbox-keyboard needs a WM supporting a precise featureset. Obviously, matchbox-window-manager fulfills this requirement. Furthermore, it is quite lightweight and can be built with very few dependencies. The first patch changes the build system to debhelper, since I wasn't able to build two binaries out of the same source package using CDBS. By the way, it also switches to source format 3.0 (quilt). The second patch adds what is needed to build the udeb, providing a second binary built with different options. The third patch adds a script to start matchbox-window-manager with g-i, although the way it is done might be discussed. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (120, 'unstable'), (105, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.35-rc3+ (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages matchbox-window-manager depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libexpat1 2.0.1-7XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libmatchbox1 1.9-5 shared library for Matchbox Projec ii libstartup-notification0 0.10-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.1.2-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxsettings-client0 0.17-5 utility functions for the Xsetting matchbox-window-manager recommends no packages. matchbox-window-manager suggests no packages. -- no debconf information # HG changeset patch # User Thibaut Girka t...@sitedethib.com # Date 1281225985 14400 # Node ID 00b42e28514ee1f87c511e39f0ddd2427bf1a8f1 # Parent 744c92c13f1270f87e43e7eb38ddf3aa20858219 Switch to source format 3.0 (quilt) and debhelper. Bug#588423: apt: List gnumach kernel as to NeverAutoRemove
Hi, sorry for the long delay, it slipped through… 2010/7/8 Guillem Jover guil...@debian.org: The GNU/Hurd kernel (GNU Mach) package is not listed as to not be autoremoved. Here's a patch to fix that. Out of interest: Is this name temporary in the sense that it will change soon (for various definitions of soon) to the normal version-depending naming scheme as kfreebsd and linux use it or will it stay forever with this name (for various definitions of forever). Bug#593096: Battery discharge indicator no longer works in recent kernels
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-19 Severity: important Hello, I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop, which has a LED battery indicator. Previously, whenever the laptop was running out of battery, the battery LED would start blinking orange, giving some time to connect the power or do a graceful shutdown. Some time ago (unfortunately, I can't give the exact time, it feels like it might have been 2-3 months ago) this behavior has changed, and now the LED never warns about the battery running out. I already had a couple of accidents, where I would forget to connect it to power and laptop would die on me, leading to loss of unsaved work, etc. I understand that it probably has something to do with ACPI subsystem, however I have very little clue on how all this stuff (ACPI, battery state notifications, activation of LEDs, etc) works together, so I would need some guidance to come up with good debugging info. Bug#593100: pbuilder: support BINDMOUNTS destination
Package: pbuilder Version: 0.199 Severity: wishlist Hey, I use pbuilder/cowbuilder to build packages targeted to multiple distribution and packages branches (sid, sometimes testing, stable and stable-backports, and trunk, experimental, stable etc.). I bindmount BUILDRESULT to be able to satisfy dependencies, but it's better to keep those separated, so I have BUILDRESULT set to something like build-${DISTRIBUTION}-${ARCH}. But I can't bindmount that directly since it won't be in the chroot apt sources unless I also have one basetgz by target and distribution, which is not really easy to maintain. It'd be nice if I could only have a BASETGZ by distrib (so lenny, sid), with an added apt source at a defined folder, which I could then bindmount from a different place depending on the environment variable passed to the build. I'm not sure I'm really clear so feel free to ask more information if needed :) Cheers, -- Yves-Alexis -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages pbuilder depends on: ii cdebootstrap 0.5.6 Bootstrap a Debian system ii coreutils 8.5-1 GNU core utilities ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.33 Debian configuration management sy ii debianutils 3.4Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii debootstrap 1.0.23 Bootstrap a basic Debian system ii wget 1.12-2 retrieves files from the web Versions of packages pbuilder recommends: ii devscripts2.10.65.1 scripts to make the life of a Debi ii fakeroot 1.14.4-1 Gives a fake root environment ii sudo 1.7.2p7-1 Provide limited super user privile Versions of packages pbuilder suggests: ii cowdancer 0.61 Copy-on-write directory tree utili ii gdebi-core0.6.2 Simple tool to install deb files pn pbuilder-uml none (no description available) -- Configuration Files: /etc/pbuilderrc changed: BASETGZ=/var/cache/pbuilder/base.tgz BUILDPLACE=/var/cache/pbuilder/build/ MIRRORSITE=http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian USEPROC=yes USEDEVPTS=yes USEDEVFS=no BUILDRESULT=/var/cache/pbuilder/result/ COMPONENTS=main APTCACHE=/var/cache/pbuilder/aptcache/ APTCACHEHARDLINK=yes REMOVEPACKAGES=lilo HOOKDIR= export DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive DEBEMAIL= BUILDSOURCEROOTCMD=fakeroot PBUILDERROOTCMD=sudo PBUILDERSATISFYDEPENDSCMD=/usr/lib/pbuilder/pbuilder-satisfydepends DEBBUILDOPTS= APTCONFDIR= BUILDUSERID=1234 BUILDUSERNAME=pbuilder BINDMOUNTS= DEBOOTSTRAPOPTS[0]='--variant=buildd' export PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin export SHELL=/bin/bash DEBOOTSTRAP=debootstrap PKGNAME_LOGFILE_EXTENTION=_$(dpkg --print-architecture).build PKGNAME_LOGFILE= -- debconf information: pbuilder/mirrorsite: http://cdn.debian.net/debian pbuilder/nomirror: pbuilder/rewrite: false -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#589885: dnsmasq: Pid file not created with --pid-file /path/to/file
Brian Vanderburg II wrote: Package: dnsmasq Version: 2.45-1+lenny1 Severity: important When running dnsmasq command with command line arguments, specifying a custom pid file does not work if one types '--pid-file /path/to/pid'. It does work if one types '-x /path/to/pid'. It also works if one types '--pid-file=/path/to/pid'. The program runs fine when executed with ''--pid-file /path/to/pid' but it does not create the pid file. While this does not pose an operation problem, if one executes the command with one set of options in one style, they would likely specify the options consistenly. That is, if they use an equal sign for one option they would likely use them for other options, but if they don't use them for one they would likely not use them for others. However, it seems that some options do not work with an equal sign, such as --server, --dhcp-range, --port. dnsmasq quits with an error about command line arguments. So one must use an equal sign with --pid-file (or use the short form -x) but not with --server/--port/etc. Dnsmasq uses gnu-getopt, which does have a standard representation: either -x arg or --long-opt=arg In this case --pidfile without the '=' is equivalent to --pidfile= ie, it sets the pidfile to be nothing, which is allowed and a sensible thing to do (it stops any pidfile from being written). --pid-file filename is therefore interpreted as setting the pidfile to be nothing, and then a non-option argument to dnsmasq which is nothing to do with the pid-file option, in the same way that in ls -l file the file is not associated with -l The confusion here is that dnsmasq doesn't use non-option arguments, so the filename is simply ignored. I've modified it to complain and die if non-option arguments are present, which should be less confusing. Your example now goes like this: s...@spike:~/dnsmasq-2.56/dnsmasq-2.56$ src/dnsmasq --pid-file gfgf dnsmasq: junk found in command line which is not what you wanted, but at least it makes you look again and avoids accepting a command line which doesn't do what it look like it should do. It would be very much easier (about 10 fewer steps) to simply ensure that GRUB 2 is installed properly; this bug only occurs when it is installed improperly. You can fix your installation by running 'dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc' and making sure that the drive your system boots from is selected. For background information, see: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ucgi/~cjwatson/blosxom/debian/2010-06-21-grub2-boot-problems.html (In short: what is happening here is that at some point you or some other piece of software told the GRUB 2 packaging to install GRUB somewhere that isn't actually where your computer is booting from. As a result, it thought it had upgraded successfully but in fact did so inconsistently.) Please don't advise people to regress to GRUB Legacy unless there is no alternative, and even in such cases we need to investigate why. Thus, when spammers send to the hosting server emails with recipient refering to other domains that are not relayed, excessive and wrong recipient callouts will be performed. The final results then include 1, high server load due to excessive callouts 2, potential DDOS attack to other domains 3, the hosting server being blocked because of sending callouts to spam-trap addresses 4, complain from ISP and termination of service A simple fix should be removing the recipient/callout verification in this 'deny' section, since there is NO POINT TO NOT DENY if recipient/callout would fail. I agree, but I have a couple of comments: - did you consider removing the recipient callout verification in the defer rule too? My reading of the config is that you'd need to remove that too to have the desired effect, but your patch doesn't include it - I disagree with the security tag, and the severity, since I've had this configuration running for quite some time and haven't experienced the problems you describe (possibly because my antispam measures vary in other ways). Therefore the problem demonstrably does not make the package unusable. Alternatively - it occurs to me that svn2cl is a fairly independent project, even though we ship it in Subversion contrib. If you'd like to upload it as its own source package, I'd be happy to cooperate on the subversion-tools side to ensure a smooth transition for the users. This may be a good long-term plan anyway, given upstream will no longer distribute contrib in the tarball in 1.7. That does sound like a good idea. Bug#592506: What to do about libtest-harness-perl?
Adam, The differences between 3.20 and 3.21 are minor - only the test scripts. The differences between 3.21 and 3.22 are more substantial. From what I can see however the area of the bug was being worked on almost right up until the release. In other words it looks to me as if the patch forms a large part of what happened between 3.21 and 3.22. The Changes file: http://search.cpan.org/src/ANDYA/Test-Harness-3.22/Changes The diff: http://search.cpan.org/diff?from=Test-Harness-3.21to=Test-Harness-3.22w=1 (Note that almost every file contains the version number so every file is touched, but this does not mean anything.) The upstream repository: http://github.com/AndyA/Test-Harness/network The bug concerns how the prove utility handles testing scripts directly. Anyway other members of the Debian Perl group will want to express an opinion. Nicholas Quoting Adam D. Bug#590873: openconnect 2.25 does not verify SSL server certificates

Bug#512546: Ethernet card not found
Package: installation-reports Severity: importand Hi kernel team, I am promoting Debian edu to one of the schools in my region. And found their machines are all has a built-in intel 82567LM-3 e1000e NIC which effected by this bug. I can confirmed the patch provided by Holger solved the problem. But it would be much better to support this network card by default for our users especially the school teachers and students in my region. May I know what's current status for this bug? Bug#593112: gretl: Not bin-NMU safe
Package: gretl Version: 1.9.1-1 Severity: serious Hi, gretl produces uninstallable packages when it is binNMUed. This recently happened for the mpfr - mpfr4 transition. The generated gretl package has a dependency on gretl-common (= 1.9.1-1+b1) which cannot be satisfied as gretl-common is architecture-independent and therefore not rebuilt for binNMUs.
