Bug#604056: gnome-open broken

2011-02-12 Thread Jason Woofenden
reassign libgnome2-0
retitle gnome-open ignores /desktop/gnome/url-handlers
thanks

Hey devs,

A little experience and poking around has convinced me that I had
mis-assigned this bug.

The basic issue is that my browser preferences are being ignored by
the gnome programs I use. A workaround would be wonderful, as this
issue is hard to live with. Details follow:

I have expressed my browser choice in the following ways:

The ENV var $BROWSER="/home/jasonwoof/bin/default-browser". (This
makes sensible-browser behave as I wish.)

gnome System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications -> Internet
-> Browser: selected custom, and command set to:
/home/jasonwoof/bin/default-browser "%s"

gconf-editor /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command set to:
/home/jasonwoof/bin/default-browser "%s"

And I rebooted.

The following programs all open /usr/bin/chromium-browser instead
of my browser of choice:

gnome-open
xdg-open
gnome-terminal (right-click -> Open Link)
pidgin
and many others I'm sure

I just noticed today that clicking "mailto:"; links in chromium no
longer brings up my e-mail client script that I configured with
Preferred Applications. (or any other e-mail program.) I mention
this in case it'll help you track down the gnome-open issue.

Thank you,   - Jason

Bug#613142: /etc/cups directory should be owned by group lpadmin, not group lp

2011-02-12 Thread Paul
Package: cups
Version: 1.4.5-3
Severity: normal

Hello,

I propose the following change.

>From this:
drwxr-xr-x 4 root lp 4096 Feb 13 08:35 /etc/cups/
To this:
drwxr-xr-x 4 root lpadmin 4096 Feb 13 08:35 /etc/cups/

Following is my rationale:

/usr/share/doc/base-passwd/users-and-groups.html specifies that the
'lpadmin' group as being able to administer printers. On the other
hand, the 'lp' group has direct access to parallel ports, printer
spools, etc.

Since /etc/cups contains configuration files it is better suited to
group ownership by the 'lpadmin' group.

Currently the CUPS web-based administration area is administered by
anyone in the lpadmin group. Making this change means to those same
people can effect similar changes using a text editor - without having
to invoke root privileges.

Thanks,
P.

Bug#611194: [calibre] Still the same

2011-02-12 Thread Lars Boegild Thomsen
Package: calibre
Version: 0.7.44+dfsg-1

The bug is definitely related to the Debian packaging somehow. As stated in
previous message, I had this bug in Debian Calibre 0.7.43 while an upstream
0.7.44 worked fine. Now I tried the Debian/Unstable 0.7.44 and it exhibits
the same problem, while the upstream 0.7.44 (and indeed the just arrived
0.7.45) works fine.

It would mean developing a udeb for w3m, integrate it in D-I, etc,
etc.

For something that's quite a corner case, imho.

So, well, I somehow doubt this will happenbut I may be wrong and
someone may step up and do the work..:)

This is expected in a non-networked situation. How could we ask (and
check about a mirror if there's no network? Even if we want to add an
entry for a mirror, we have to ask abou tit, which means also testing
it.

I also very much doubt that what you suggest is likely to happen as it
would change the whole logic of choose-mirror.

Will use filter as I just did for xorg vs. wkhtmltopdf, yeah. Also,
that should probably be DEB_HOST_ARCH.

Bug#613141: wkhtmltopdf: SIGBUS on sparc

2011-02-12 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: wkhtmltopdf
Version: 0.9.9-2
Severity: important

Hi,

I can't get wkhtmltopdf to run on sparc, I'm getting a sigbus everytime.
That can be seen in the sparc build log for xorg 1:7.6+2:

https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=xorg&arch=sparc&ver=1:7.6%2B2&stamp=1297181193&file=log&as=raw

Trying to find a minimal test case, I managed to track it down to the
SVG background, since stripping it from the CSS makes the SIGBUS go
away. A minimal HTML file would look like this:
|
| pan!
|

Any SVG seems to trigger this bug, e.g.:
  wget http://www.debian.org/logos/openlogo-nd.svg -O foo.svg

And that's not just for backgrounds, any SVG usage triggers this bug:
|

Probably a webkit bug, but opening it here for now. For the record,
using a PNG file instead works fine (but looks ugly).

smetana's sid chroot has the needed packages to observe this bug.

That looks like event7 instead?

Anyway, please test with *evtest*, rather than with xev. To do so,
switch to a text VT (IOW: not from inside X), then run this as root:
  evtest /dev/input/event7

Then press buttons, and check whether LeftBtn and RightBtn appear. If
that's the case, bug in X/synaptics driver (and we'll try to
investigate further). If that's not the case, bug in the kernel (and
we'll reassign).

Disclaimer: my mother language is not English.

JFTR: after having followed GNU Typist tutorials [1], I tend to always
use the double spacing between sentences [2], so I would not consider
all the "double spaces" in the original English as a bug.

Please note that IMHO double spacing is quite useful, especially on the

Bug#613134: What to fix?

2011-02-12 Thread Stefan Tannenbaum
As a solution I would propose to simply patch gtk2_interface to return
separator-height / 2 to the java side if wide-separators is 1. The
actual drawing result will still be far away from what it should be: the
whole spacing is messed up as you can see on the screenshot. However the
affected java programs would at least have *some* seperators.

I will try to get a patch ready, but the jdk build process is still a
complete mystery to me and takes forever and I want just libmawt.so
rebuilt.

The results for some themes:

Shiki-Wise: wide-separators: 1, separator-height: 7, ythickness: 0
Clearlooks: wide-separators: 1, separator-height: 7, ythickness: 0
Glider: wide-separators: 0, separator-height: 0, ythickness: 2
Glossy: wide-separators: 0, separator-height: 0, ythickness: 3

These values are consistent with the themes gtkrc files, so the general
system to read styles from realized invisible widgets seems to work
fine. However java's gtk look and feel ignores the wide-sepeartors
property completely. The actual preferred height of the JSeparator ends
up as 3 * separator-height. As predicted, themes using a
separator-height of 0 show no seperators in java.

Bug#613134: Native parts in the jdk

2011-02-12 Thread Stefan Tannenbaum
The native function is implemented in swing_GTKStyle.c.

JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
Java_com_sun_java_swing_plaf_gtk_GTKStyle_nativeGetYThickness(
JNIEnv *env, jclass klass, jint widget_type)
{
return gtk2_get_ythickness(env, widget_type);
}

Next call is to gtk2_interface.c.

gint gtk2_get_ythickness(JNIEnv *env, WidgetType widget_type)
{
init_containers();

gtk2_widget = gtk2_get_widget(widget_type);
GtkStyle* style = gtk2_widget->style;
return style->ythickness;
}

And here is an excerpt of gtk2_get_widget.

/**
 * Returns a pointer to the cached native widget for the specified
widget
 * type.
 */
static GtkWidget *gtk2_get_widget(WidgetType widget_type)
{
gboolean init_result = FALSE;
GtkWidget *result = NULL;
switch (widget_type)
{
case BUTTON:
case TABLE_HEADER:
if (init_result = (NULL == gtk2_widgets[_GTK_BUTTON_TYPE]))
{
gtk2_widgets[_GTK_BUTTON_TYPE] = (*fp_gtk_button_new)();
}
result = gtk2_widgets[_GTK_BUTTON_TYPE];
break;
case CHECK_BOX:
---
case POPUP_MENU_SEPARATOR:
if (init_result =
(NULL ==
gtk2_widgets[_GTK_SEPARATOR_MENU_ITEM_TYPE]))
{
gtk2_widgets[_GTK_SEPARATOR_MENU_ITEM_TYPE] =
(*fp_gtk_separator_menu_item_new)();
}
result = gtk2_widgets[_GTK_SEPARATOR_MENU_ITEM_TYPE];
break;
---
default:
result = NULL;
break;
}

if (result != NULL && init_result)
{
if (widget_type == RADIO_BUTTON_MENU_ITEM ||
widget_type == CHECK_BOX_MENU_ITEM ||
widget_type == MENU_ITEM ||
widget_type == MENU ||
widget_type == POPUP_MENU_SEPARATOR)
{
GtkWidget *menu = gtk2_get_widget(POPUP_MENU);
(*fp_gtk_menu_shell_append)((GtkMenuShell *)menu, result);
}
 ---
(*fp_gtk_widget_realize)(result);
}
return result;
}

From gtk2_interface.c the native libgtk is called via dynamic function
pointers. The working principle of gtk2_interface is to basically create
a complete set of gtk widgets in an offscreen window. The widgets are
created on demand, either when the corresponding swing widget is needed
or when they serve as a parent. They are then realized but remain
invisible. In case of the POPUP_MENU_SEPARATOR, the widget is actually
realized automatically by gtk on gtk_menu_shell_append not on
gtk_widget_realize, but that does not seem to be a problem.

In the end widget->style->ythickness is returned to the java side. And
that, in fact, is the problem.

Bug#613134: Java test program

2011-02-12 Thread Stefan Tannenbaum
This java program demonstrates the problem.

import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.*;

public class Menu {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
try {
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(new
GTKLookAndFeel());

JFrame f = new JFrame("Menu-Test");
JMenuBar b = new JMenuBar();
JMenu m = new JMenu("Menu");
m.add(new JMenuItem("Foo"));
m.add(new DebugSeparator());
m.add(new JMenuItem("Bar"));
b.add(m);
f.setJMenuBar(b);

f.setSize(300, 100);
f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);

f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
f.setVisible(true);
} catch (Exception exc) {
throw new RuntimeException(exc);
}
}
});
}

static class DebugSeparator extends JSeparator {
public Dimension getPreferredSize() {
Dimension d = super.getPreferredSize();
System.out.println(d);
return d;
}
}
}

Executing the program and clicking on the menu results in this output.

java.awt.Dimension[width=4,height=6]
java.awt.Dimension[width=4,height=6]
java.awt.Dimension[width=4,height=6]
java.awt.Dimension[width=2,height=0]
java.awt.Dimension[width=2,height=0]

The separator is assigned a zero height and consequently gets clipped in
the painting process.
When the separator size is fixed manually, the separators show up again.

static class DebugSeparator extends JSeparator {
public Dimension getPreferredSize() {
Dimension d = super.getPreferredSize();
d.height = 4;
return d;
}
}

The height is read on use from a global cache in

I don't think the config file is the right place to document this. It is
documented in the smb.conf manpage that these options are incompatible.

But I don't understand how disabling wide links breaks anything for you in
this case. I guess your exported share is a chrooted powerpc tree, and
you're not exporting the actual root filesystem of the server, right? So
then, a symlink pointing at /etc is pointing at the server's /etc, not the
client's /etc, and would give the wrong *contents*, wouldn't it?

In that case these wide links were already broken. The behavior change has
just made the breakage more apparent.

> For what I see my options here are:

Why don't you use NFS, which is natively designed for use as a Unix
filesystem?

BTW, is the powerpc thin client running with Unix extensions enabled or not?
If it is, shouldn't these symlinks be passed through for resolution on the
*client* side, making the problem moot?

> I don't see any other options here and the constraints they have put still
> would allow wide links when unix extensions are off, thus if unwanted links

The point is that if Unix extensions are enabled on the server, you can
trigger an attack by making two connections with a client to get access to
arbritrary files on the filesystem. First you connect with unix extensions
enabled on the client and create a symlink to your target file; then you
connect with unix extensions /disabled/ to trick the server into reading you
the contents of that file.

If you don't have both of these options enabled at the same time, the only
wide links you can read are those already existing on the server.

Hi,

thankfully, we're not shipping in the next months, so we have some
time to get that fixed. You could try [1] and if that's not fixed
upstream, report a bug at [2].

I'm not sure we want to ship classic in libgl1-mesa-dri and gallium in
libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental, with the latter overwriting the former.

Bug#609628: [buildd-tools-devel] Bug#609628: Build interacts badly with local::lib (installs Perl modules to local::lib directory)

2011-02-12 Thread Jonathan Yu
Hi Roger,

Thanks for the follow-up.

I did a dist-upgrade of my system. I'm not sure what exactly was
upgraded (incidentally a new version of liblocal-lib-perl seems to be
installed, as the environment variables are slightly different now).

Anyway, I can no longer reproduce the issue, so I take it the new
sbuild fixed things. I suppose the bug can be closed (though I don't
know what version specifically it was fixed in).

Cheers,

Jonathan

Well, it's been about a month and a half, and I have seen no activity,
and this is a very simple fix; so I thought I would post directly to
linux-s...@vger.kernel.org to see if I can generate some activity.
The details of this bug report can be found at

Bug#598796: [Evolution] Bug#598796: evolution: hangs on startup while "migrating folders"

2011-02-12 Thread Fernando Ruza Rodriguez
The same happened to me. After upgrade to squeeze and evolution 2.30.3-5
it hangs always just after start it up.

At last, I've solved it uninstalling Network Manager (network-manager
and network-manager-gnome packages). I don't use Network Manager because
I have virtual machines and I've got bridges so I don't need those
packages. After removing those packages evolution starts like a charm
and it works perfectly so I think the bug has something related with
network manager.

Regards,

Fernando.

Depend on, or respect?

Why shouldn't we expect packages to honor extra CFLAGS set in the
environment, and require sanitized environments with no $CFLAGS set for
standard package builds?

(Anyway, isn't setting $CFLAGS in the environment exactly what
dpkg-buildpackage + dpkg-buildflags *does*?)

Bug#604290: kkbswitch removal

2011-02-12 Thread Roman Odaisky
> As the last upstream release was at 2005, and I believe there is a keyboard
> indicator / switch utility, I'm fine with removing this package from
> unstable/testing after the squeeze release.

To the best of my knowledge, nothing other than kkbswitch provides per-layout
keyboard shortcuts and layout toggle mode in a GUI.

Example setup (one that I’m using):
– English, Russian and Ukrainian layouts;
— Ctrl + Caps Lock, Win + Caps Lock, Alt + Caps Lock to activate the layouts
respectively;
– Caps Lock to toggle between last two layouts used in the current window.

Use case: typing something in Russian in one window and in Ukrainian in
another. Access to the English layout is useful in both, pressing Caps Lock
switches to it and then back to the previous language.

KDE offers the “spare layouts” feature that can achieve toggle mode, but
there’s no option to set a shortcut for specific layouts (even MS Windows has
this! :-). The workaround (qdbus org.kde.keyboard /Layouts setLayout )
doesn’t work as it can only switch to non-spare layouts. Moreover, it’s
impossible to use shortcuts involving Caps Lock in khotkeys.

Thus there’s no viable alternative to kkbswitch for such a use case.
Admittedly, it’s uncommon, but not so because it’s not needed; rather, typical
ways of setting up three layouts are inconvenient and users avoid them, not
knowing of kkbswitch. I guess there’s quite a number of users with such a
need, particularly citizens of bilingual countries or those studying foreign
languages (native language + English + another language).

Besides, kkbswitch is easily configurable via GUI and does its job fine in KDE
4 despite being a six year old KDE 3 application. It just works. Please only
remove it after providing another means of solving the above problems.

Roman.

Please refrain from giving false figure, it seems seems your script
misinterprent the list contents:
- tested Alias as if it were an alternate Site name, while it's intended to be
  a clue about the trace file to be searched. (e.g.: debian.proxad.net)
- still test disabled mirrors, i.e ignore X-Archive-http status, which says the
  mirror is not valid through this path (e.g: cudlug.cudenver.edu)
- other cases like ftp.tu-chemnitz.de, which is ok, I don't know why your
  script considers it nok (not using apache listing ?)

I'm sure few mirrors in the list are indeed not working, but that's certainly
not 1/7.

with its recent move to bellini)

Bug#611584: /bin/su: not quite aggressive

2011-02-12 Thread velotiger

Hi, like Zack I dislike the new (Squeeze compared to Lenny) behaviour of "su
-". Reasons:
1. For an unprivileged target user, it's useless to copy XAUTHORITY because he
cannot read the invoking user's xauth file (if he could, it would be a security
issue).
2. Root can easily extract an X11 cookie from any local file and merge it in
his own xauth file (for root on NFS clients, see 1).
3. If you want automatic transfer of X11 cookies, there's a solution:
pam_xauth. This also works for (1).
4. If you su to root and use the command xauth as root afterwards, you work on
the invoking user's file, rendering it unusable for the user (xauth takes
possesion when writing the file: 0600 root:root).
5. I've been using (2) for years without any problem and stumbled upon (4) now
:-(
Maybe I try revert su to its old behaviour by means of pam_env. Afterwards su's
manpage will disagree with reality on the systems I maintain, but I can live
with that.
Regards,
 Tilmann

Bug#613130: [libgl1-mesa-dri] Choose between gallium and classic drivers

2011-02-12 Thread Peter Dahlberg
Package: libgl1-mesa-dri
Version: 7.10-3
Severity: wishlist

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

It seems to me that the gallium drivers are not yet comparable with the
classic ones (e.g. kwin is slow with r600g here). Unfortunately i noticed that
there is no way to get the classic driver back without recompiling mesa.

Please provide a way for the user to switch to the classic driver instead of
the gallium driver. Maybe by installing the classic ones into a separate
directory so one can use LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH to change the driver or provide a
separate package with the classic driver files.

  Description : A tool for moving running programs between ptys

reptyr is a utility for taking an existing running program and
attaching it to a new terminal, and is particularly useful for moving
a long-running process into a GNU screen session.

reptyr does a more thorough job of transferring programs than many
other tools, including the popular "screenify" shell script, because
it changes the program's controlling terminal. This means that actions
such as window resizes and interrupts are sent to the process from the
new terminal.

Bug#613121: /usr/share/doc/vlc is empty

2011-02-12 Thread Brian Potkin
Package: vlc
Version: 1.1.7-2
Severity: normal

In replacing the previous version of vlc a day or so ago the directory
/usr/share/doc/vlc was left in place and is empty. It looks as though it
should be replaced with a link to /usr/share/doc/vlc-nox but this didn't
happen until vlc was purged and reinstalled.

OK, I just discovered this file :

leo@stellie:~$ cat /etc/sysctl.d/bindv6only.conf
# This sysctl sets the default value of the IPV6_V6ONLY socket option.
#
# When disabled, IPv6 sockets will also be able to send and receive IPv4
# traffic with addresses in the form :::192.0.2.1 and daemons listening
# on IPv6 sockets will also accept IPv4 connections.
#
# When IPV6_V6ONLY is enabled, daemons interested in both IPv4 and IPv6
# connections must open two listening sockets.
# This is the default behaviour of almost all modern operating systems.

net.ipv6.bindv6only = 1

dpkg -S cannot find any package it belongs to ; this must be a removed
package.

I guess that removing this file or setting a value of 0 will fix the
issue, but it would be great to find which package brought this file
whith this default setting.

I comment the line and I will give it a try after reboot.

Bug#613120: grub2 terminal has black background with background image relegated to the fringe

2011-02-12 Thread Bryan Cebuliak
Package: grub-pc

Since updating Sid to grub-pc 1.99 thegrub2 terminal has a
 black backgroundwith the prescribed background image
sitting on theborders. A cool effect, but not the desired
one. I note the /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme script is
completely changed, but the resulting /bootgrub.cfg not much
 different. Howdo I restore the background image to the

Bug#551731: mon: [PATCH] manual page mon.8 - use alphabetical order for options, variables etc.

2011-02-12 Thread Dario Minnucci

Hi Jari,

This bug [0] was lost in time... sorry!

The patches you provided are intended for mon-0.99.2, but mon-1.2.0 is in
unstable since Jan, 2010
and your patches don't apply on new manpages

I can see you dedicated time and effort in order to prepare those patches but I
cannot use them on
current manpages. :(

If you want, feel free to send them again based on mon-120 manpages and I'll be
glad to apply and
send them to upstream.

I'm really sorry for this issue!

Regards,

Bug#613074: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Touchpad left and right physical buttons send only button2 events instead of left and right clicks as expected

Hi,

what happens if you check with evtest? Look into the Xorg.0.log to
check what /dev/input device it is, run evtest on it, and check which
button is sent. If that's indeed button 2 in all cases, that's a
kernel bug. If that's not the case that might be a X driver or a X
bug.

I believe a lot of packages in the archive actually suffers from this
issue then, if dpkg-build{package,flags} did not sanitize these variables.
  How many packages explicitly sets e.g. LDFLAGS in debian/rules? Almost
none of mine does it (granted most of my packages are Java packages, but
still).

Well, yes, if you insist the "CFLAGS := $(CFLAGS) somearg" is wrong, it
would appear that my original request can be trivially be reduced to
#578597.
  Though in that case, I think we should change this one to a request to
make the policy be explicit in how a package should handle variables
from the environment (and which variables it should neutralize).

Baring the ß key I don't have on my keyboard, all those combinations
seem to work.

Please don't do that.

First try to figure out how it works with setxkbmap. Then only think
about tweaking stuff with xmodmap. That's error-prone.

This is a known bug in squashfs-tools 4.0, it was fixed in the following
commit (plus a couple of commits, but this is the main one).

I would had to worry if I actually attached the patch... The bonus is
that is now has the bug number in it. :-)

Bug#613111: xkb-data: German Keyboard with non working, but very important, AltGr keys

2011-02-12 Thread Ernst Gill
Package: xkb-data
Version: 1.8-2
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

After a fresh installation of Debian 6.0 I faced a problem with
German Keyboard with non working, but very important, AltGr keys.

I have selected for the kyeboard 'Deutch' and for the variant 'Deutch'.
I tried all meaningful variants, but non of them are working.
Always the same keys are not working (no ouput at all).

Debian 6.0 is running as a virtual machine in KVM and VirtualBox
and uses the 'evdev' driver for keyboard and mouse.

The following AltGr keys are not working:

  'AltGr' + '7' --> '{'
  'AltGr' + '8' --> '['
  'AltGr' + '9' --> ']'
  'AltGr' + '0' --> '}'
  'AltGr' + 'ß' --> '\'
  'AltGr' + 'q' --> '@'
  'AltGr' + '+' --> '~'
  'AltGr' + '<' --> '|'

Intrestingly this key is working:

  'AltGr' + 'e' --> '€'

Also all other keys are working.

Here is my xkb mapping:

> setxkbmap -print
xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes  { include "evdev+aliases(qwertz)" };
xkb_types { include "complete"  };
xkb_compat{ include "complete"  };
xkb_symbols   { include "pc+de+de(nodeadkeys):2+inet(evdev)"};
xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc105)" };
};

And here is my xmod mapping:

> xmodmap
xmodmap: up to 4 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses):

shift   Shift_L (0x32),  Shift_R (0x3e)
lockCaps_Lock (0x42)
control Control_L (0x25),  Control_R (0x69)
mod1Alt_L (0x40),  Meta_L (0xcd)
mod2Num_Lock (0x4d)
mod3
mod4Super_L (0x85),  Super_R (0x86),  Super_L (0xce),  Hyper_L (0xcf)
mod5ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c),  Mode_switch (0xcb)

Then I try to find out whats wrong with the key mapping.

Here is the output of the 'xev' program when I hit the 'AltGr' key
in combination with all the non working keys and working '€' key:

Indeed! Actually, the server was 71 seconds late, and the client on

It is. But I don't reboot the server often (the client is rebooted every

If you get a chance to investigate why sparc has those symbols that
would be appreciated btw.

Bug#613109: Add http and https schemes to supported mimetypes in iceweasel.desktop file

2011-02-12 Thread Arjan Opmeer
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.6.13-2
Severity: wishlist

Modern Gnome desktops look at the scheme of a URL (i.e the http:// part)
first to determine with which application to open it. When one has multiple
browsers installed and only one of them supports said scheme it will always
be used to open the URL. This happens when one ctrl-clicks on a URL in
gnome-terminal or uses a utility like gvfs-open (or even xdg-open which uses
gvfs-open under water).

In my case I have iceweasel, epiphany and chromium installed. Only chromium
currently indicates in its desktop files that it knows how to handle http
schemes. And although I have made iceweasel my default browser when I
ctrl-click on a URL in gnome-terminal it will always be opened with
chromium.

However, as soon as I added the schemes to the iceweasel.desktop file and
ran update-desktop-database to regenerate the mimeinfo.cache file this
changed. Now when I ctrl-click on a URL in gnome-terminal both chromium and
iceweasel will be considered for opening the URL and somewhere deep in the
bowels of Gnome it is discovered that I have made iceweasel my default
browser and hence it opens the URL in iceweasel instead of chromium. In
short exactly the behaviour I want... :)

To accomplish this I made the following changes:

--- iceweasel.desktop.ORIG  2011-02-12 21:09:14.0 +0100
+++ iceweasel.desktop   2011-02-12 21:11:00.0 +0100

Hi.

You can find attached a patch to make libxml-commons-resolver1.1-java
install a pom.xml file in the Debian maven repository. I need it to
package msv, that build via maven (#612440).

A better pom.xml is available here:

http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/xml-resolver/xml-resolver/1.2/xml-resolver-1.2.pom

Anyway, no clear licensing terms are available for it, so I have to
assume that it's not free.

Any objections to a team upload of this patch?

Thanks, Giovanni.

Maybe. The reason why I am a bit hesitant is that I have a system here
on which the apt-cacher deamon is only listening on tcp6, but I can
still connect to it using IPv4. I really want to understand why that
mapping is not happening on your system.

What kernel do you have? Is it one you have compiled or a stock one? Is
the ipv6 module loaded. If not and you load it, does it make any
difference?

Thanks

Mark

* Daniel Baumann , 2011-02-12, 20:30:

The default value for EXTLINUX_DEFAULT is 0, which is quite wrong
given that extlinux no longer creates an entry with such a name.

the value is an integer reflecting the number of the entry in the list
of all entries

No, it is not. I would appreciate if you did little research before closing the
bug. Or, better, actually know how your own package works.

As a matter of fact, I removed EXTLINUX_DEFAULT from my config, ran
extlinux-update and rebooted the machine. extlinux welcomed be with a "Could

Ah, I figured it out. You have about 15 seconds of time skew between
the NFS server and client. So:

 1. Please, install ntpdate or similar on both machines. :)
 2. Raphaël, maybe dpkg-source could do something like this?

exist.

Would it be possible (eta?) to make a debian release of tgt version

getting community support.

Bug#584995: #584995 Failed to create ext4 filesystem

2011-02-12 Thread Miguel Figueiredo
hi,

regarding the bug you reported, can you try the latest release - Debian
Squeeze - and report if the problem still persists?

I have done several installations with ext4 (on i386 and amd64) and always
successful.
We would like to close (if solved) this report or analyse deeper in case you
still have problems with ext4.

Bug#613023: dpkg-dev: dpkg-source doesn't update ctime of patched files (with 3.0 (quilt) format)

I think ctime is a red herring here. "make" relies on mtime.

Not sure. Maybe a problem of timestamp granularity? (Some file being
changed at t=487324789324532.5 and then dpkg-source resetting another
timestamp to 487324789324532.0.)

Hello,

Could you please disable the i965 driver on hurd-i386? There is no KMS

Bug#613101: ubuntu-dev-tools: Better error message for recommended packages that aren't installed

2011-02-12 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Package: ubuntu-dev-tools
Version: 0.116
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

While I know that I don't have the necessary package installed, it would
be good if a better message was displayed:

$ suspicious-source
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/suspicious-source", line 17, in
import magic
ImportError: No module named magic

Something like:

"You need to have the package 'python-magic' in order to use suspicious-source"
instead having the import error.

The same is valid for other tools, like dgetlp.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Nelson

I think I am for decreasing Bob's speed, but perhaps through an extra
difficulty level. The list of things to fix is quite long otherwise :)

Anyway, I'll release 1.0.18 first, and then work on this bug.
