Can you give a shot at Iceweasel 7 from http://mozilla.debian.net/ ?
According to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=608934 , it
should be fixed on that version.

It is that when mtab isn't a symlink to /proc/mounts -- I don't remember
making that symlink but I guess I must've done it. Problem solved, in
any case, thanks for all the help!

Given that this is a Debian package, there should be an option to first
say if there is a debian package that satisfies a target or

Here are those informations:

Rationale:
Discussions about translation efforts to different flavours of the Serbian

After Debconf 11, a significant number of local people both in Serbia

With Gnome 3.0 Experimental running GNOME SHell the the Help->About Iceweasel does
not have a close action icon. It requires an Alt-F4 action or a Right Mouse Button
->  Close Window solution.

There should be a close icon in the upper right corner ala it's parent
application.

Perhaps this is an oversight in the default new windowing theme for Gnome 3.x?

Hi,

Does this still happen with a more recent gnome desktop and a more
recent iceweasel?

Bug#579102: Depends on non-main packages to compile

2011-08-07 Thread Vincent Bernat
found 579102 1.8.1-1
found 579102 1.8.1-2
severity 579102 serious

Hi!

I am pretty sorry but providing a binary package that does not depend on
nvidia blob does not make conky allowed to be in main. Policy 2.2.1
states that a package in main "must not require a package outside of
main for compilation or execution (thus, the package must not declare a
"Depends", "Recommends", or "Build-Depends" relationship on a non-main
package)".

Therefore, conky should be moved back into contrib.

Moreover, conky-std was lacking some functionalities of conky-all. This
is a pity that users that choose to keep their system with only free
stuff do not have access to a complete version of conky just because the
complete version also has nvidia stuff in it. Users of "main" should not
be second-class citizens.

It seems that nvidia.c could be provided into an alternate version that
uses nvidia-settings if installed. From:
 https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#Method_1_-_nvidia-settings

$ nvidia-settings -q gpucoretemp -t
41

If you can provide the name of other settings, I could come up with a
patch to solve this.

The Debian packages since 0.8.C-1 do provide the nes-emulator virtual package
(as used by efp), and the nes alternative.

I can see how this would be useful, especially if other related packages were
also updated. Note though that virtual packages are intended for use by
dependencies (see policy 3.6 and 7.5), so there wouldn't be much point unless
emulated games were provided as packages (in a similar fashion to the efp
package). Adding all the alternatives would also introduce a fair amount of
"namespace polution" in /usr/bin...

What exactly is the problem you're trying to solve? (Or problems...) If it's
making the package easier to discover, the way to do that is by working on
the description. Or do you think it makes things easier to be able to type
gba ...
rather than
mednafen ...
etc.? Wouldn't a better solution be to provide handlers for the various MIME
types involved (application/x-nes-rom and so on) so that users can simply
launch their games from their file manager?

> also improve description please! ¬_¬u

Do you have any suggestions? The current descriptions list all the emulated
systems, and apart from expanding some of the acronyms (NES and SNES
especially) I don't see much to improve - but I'm probably wrong!

Thanks for your input,

Stephen

Bug#636092: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: Debian squeeze will not boot with drives on two Sil 3132 SATA cards

2011-08-07 Thread Chuck Cox
I tried putting 'set debug=all' at the top of my grub.cfg. Still get the
hard freeze right after "Welcome to Grub!".

Then I tried embedding the debug command into the core image by running
grub-install with the '--debug-image=all' option. Still get the hard freeze
right after "Welcome to Grub!".

It's looking like this is more of a Grub issue than kernel, so if somebody
can tell me how to move this bug report to the grub category that would be
great.

Thanks,
Chuck

This sounds reasonable to me. However, I have a suggestion for a slight
variation. Rather than implementing a private C.UTF-8 locale in lintian
(and preserving the LOCPATH propagation and related bits), how about
creating a new backport-specific package "c-utf8-locale-backport" or
similar, which generates the locale system-wide? Lintian could then
depend on libc-bin (>= 2.13-1) | c-utf8-locale-backport, and (with some
coordination) the libc-bin maintainers could add a
conflicts/replaces/provides on c-utf8-locale-backport. Then, lintian
and any other package wanting to count on C.UTF-8 could use this
dependency (and drop the alternative when wheezy releases).

How does that sound?

Bug#637054: checkfs.sh should wait for USB disks before checking

2011-08-07 Thread jidanni
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.88dsf-13.11
Severity: wishlist
File: /etc/init.d/checkfs.sh

/etc/init.d/checkfs.sh really should wait for USB disks to mount before
checking. Maybe the Makefile style dependencies are not right.
All I know is I had to put a 'sleep 8' at the top of that file to boot
properly. It's either that or face

  Checking file systems...fsck from util-linux 2.19.1
  fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve 'UUID=c914c362-4b46-48be-afaf-6e061825b2ed'
fsck died with exit status 8...
A maintenance shell will now be started. CONTROL-D will terminate...

Here's a dmesg from before I made the workaround, (but it looks the same
afterwards anyway.)

dmesg.0.gz
Description: /var/log/dmesg.0
Yes there is "usb 1-5: device descriptor read/64, error -71" but then it
recovers by itself, however checkfs.sh didn't wait for it.

Or is there a better place I can put my workaround that won't get
overwritten and is low maintenance?
/etc/rc.local is run last. Any earlier counterpart?

to the page I had to rely on (faulty) memory of what was RC due to Debian
Policy (for some reason I though almost all packaging bugs were, but I was
misremembering something I had read, as well as confusing must and should
directives). Having access to the page mentioned
(http://release.debian.org/wheezy/rc_policy.txt) at severity selection would be
helpful in assigning a severity correctly (assuming the user isn't in 'it's
severe to me' mode).

For the panicked user, it might also be useful to remind the user to take a
breath and try to calmly assess whether it is a for a wide base of users, and
that a high severity doesn't get faster action, just downgraded and creates
administrative hassle (work), if it's not actually a bug of the mentioned
severity.

Although for some bugs, there's tendency to use the arguement it's not part of
the base system so you must be advanced enough to solve the problem, which is
simply wrong, especially if the system was built by someone else who doesn't
live close by. E.g. I build system for friends and family, and have given away
system. I got frustrated with Ubuntu's instability and decided to distribute
what I use for myself, but when some developer attitudes are frustrating for
system intended for end users.

Bug#637045: shutting down openbox with gdm-control

2011-08-07 Thread kenwfoyjr
I just discovered that the way to shutdown the system with gdm-control in
Openbox is also broken. Formerly, this command would halt the system —
gdm-control --shutdown && openbox --exit. Now, it just exits Openbox and
goes to the GDM login.

True, but if nobody includes the feature, then nobody can test it. The
patch is already more then 3 years available...

Is the following issue fixed or not (after 1 year)?

Bug#637051: TAG: TreeMaker -- TreeMaker is a program for the design of origami bases.

2011-08-07 Thread Kevin Kavchak
Package: wnpp

Severity: RFP

URL: http://www.langorigami.com/science/treemaker/treemaker5.php4

License: The TreeMaker source code is released under the GNU Public License.

Description: TreeMaker is a program for the design of origami bases. You draw a
stick figure of the base on the screen; each stick in the stick figure (the
"tree") will be represented by a flap on the base. You can also place various
constraints on the flaps, forcing them to be corner, edge, or middle flaps,
and/or setting up various symmetry relationships (forcing pairs of flaps to be
symmetric about a line of symmetry of the paper, for example). Once you have
defined the tree, TreeMaker computes the full crease pattern for a base which,
when folded, will have a projection (roughly speaking, its "shadow") equivalent
to that specified by the defining tree. The crease pattern can be printed out,
or copied and pasted into another graphics program for further processing.
Crease assignment (mountain or valley) are not computed, but with a few simple
rules and some exploration by hand, the proper crease assignment can usually
easily be found.

Bug#637050: Package perl-suid v5.12.x is not available in repositories [sid] and [experimental]

Dear package maintainers,

Currently when migrating from [squeeze] to [sid] I have faced the

- The package "perl-suid" was simply removed (as no corresponding

Bug#611954: Fixed: r8169: unable to start network after squeeze upgrade to kernel 2.6.32

2011-08-07 Thread Gerry Butler
Hello Ben

>I don't understand why you say that eth0 was broken, if it wasn't
>configured before. Are you saying that the upgrade *removed* an entry
>from /etc/network/interfaces? Are you using a network interface control
>program other than ifupdown, e.g. Network Manager or wicd?

I didn't realize eth0 was not configured at the time I reported the problem,
that is, when I was part way through the squeeze upgrade.

In retrospect, I realize that I had the capability of diagnosing and fixing
the problem myself, without help, but I didn't realize that at the time.

I am not using wicd. (At least I don't think I am. I don't know what it is.)

Is Network Manager the tool that starts when you choose "Network" in
KDE? If so, I have used it previously, but not for a long time, and not
during or after the squeeze upgrade.

About a year ago I was using a network card in addition to the onboard
ethernet adaptor, but I removed it. /etc/network/interfaces may have
still contained its entry.

I don't know what the first squeeze upgrade attempt did to
/etc/network/interfaces, as I did not look at it following the kernel,
udev, and firmware-realtek upgrade/installation. But I know at that
point I got "network unreachable" messages in response to
ping 10.0.0.138. Since syslog contained "unable to patch firmware"
message, and a search in bugs.debian.org turned up 611954, I assumed
that was the problem and didn't look further.

After the second (successful) squeeze upgrade attempt,
which was conducted via the eth1 adaptor,
/etc/network/interfaces contained no entry for eth0. There
had to have been an entry prior to the upgrade, as the
onboard adaptor was the only one in the machine.

The second squeeze upgrade started from a "green fields" state,
as I restored pre-upgrade dd partition images then ran the upgrade
from the beginning.

Regards Gerry.

Bug#637049: Please tag ~/.thumbnails using CACHEDIR.TAG

2011-08-07 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.30.1-3
Severity: wishlist

Various backup utilities can automatically exclude cache directories if
tagged via the "Cache Directory Tagging" standard
(http://www.brynosaurus.com/cachedir/). Doing so requires creating a
file CACHEDIR.TAG in the cache directory (~/.thumbnails), containing
the contents "Signature: 8a477f597d28d172789f06886806bc55". Please
consider implementing this standard by creating this file, so that
backup software can automatically exclude the thumbnail cache.

I don't fully know which component of nautilus generates these
thumbnails, or if that component lives in some package other than the
main nautilus package. Please feel free to reassign if I've gotten it
wrong.

Thanks,
Josh Triplett

null bytes. I do not have such a problem with strace or ltrace.

With "latrace -o latrace.out /usr/bin/mutt -F /dev/null foo" (i.e.

longer get these "write failed" errors, but latrace.out still begins

I don't understand why you say that eth0 was broken, if it wasn't
configured before. Are you saying that the upgrade *removed* an entry
from /etc/network/interfaces? Are you using a network interface control
program other than ifupdown, e.g. Network Manager or wicd?

Bug#637045: gdm3 appears to disable random wallpaper and gtk theme in openbox

2011-08-07 Thread Kenneth W Foy Jr
Package: gdm3
Version: 2.30.5-10
Severity: normal

Regarding the random wallpaper script, with desktop-base installed, the random
wallpaper will appear, and then the spacefun wallpaper will replace it. Without
desktop-base installed, a bright, lime green desktop will appear. This is in
Openbox.

My preferred GTK theme, CleanIce-Marble, doesn't work, not even in a preview.
CleanIce-Debian will work in a preview but won't work in windows after
applying.

Bug#637044: When Cyrus package is rebuild again, the build fails

2011-08-07 Thread Dmitry Katsubo

Dear maintainers,

Currently when I rebuild the Cyrus package after the 1st successfull

# dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b

the following error occurs:

Patching "./configure" file seems to be bad idea, as quilt reverts
patches before dh_auto_configure and applies after. Perhaps this patch
should be applied directly from debian/rules (what is the best practise?)

P.S. You will not see this error on build server logs, as build server
always start a build from pure installation.

Bug#637043: lyx: Program listing within Box with simple frame causes LaTeX error

2011-08-07 Thread Hamish
Package: lyx
Version: 1.6.7-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I get a LaTeX error if I try to put a program listing within a simple box
frame. If I select an oval or other shaped frame it works fine.

to reproduce:
New Document
Insert -> Box
Insert -> Program Listing
then type something (eg "10 PRINT")

right click on 'Box (Minipage)', select 'Simple Frame'

View -> Postscript

and the error dialog pops up with a number of errors. The first
one is "Argument of \lst@next has an extra }.

"""
\end{minipage}}

I've run across a `}' that doesn't seem to match anything.
For example, `\def\a#1{...}' and `\a}' would produce
this error. If you simply proceed now, the `\par' that
I've just inserted will cause me to report a runaway
argument that might be the root of the problem. But if
your `}' was spurious, just type `2' and it will go away.
"""

?

thanks,
Hamish

Bug#611954: Fixed: r8169: unable to start network after squeeze upgrade to kernel 2.6.32

2011-08-07 Thread Gerry Butler
The onboard ethernet adaptor is now working.

/etc/network/interfaces contained no entry for eth0. I don't know why.

When I started the squeeze upgrade the onboard adaptor at eth0 was
the only adaptor.

I don't know the state of /etc/network/interfaces at the completion of
the kernel and udev upgrade.

After installing another ethernet adaptor and re-running the squeeze
upgrade from the beginning (after restoring dd partition images),
/etc/network/interfaces contained only an entry for eth1.

I have now added an entry for eth0.

Thank you.

Gerry

Bug#637042: [gimp] GIMP causes X to freeze

2011-08-07 Thread Guy Heatley
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: gimp
Version: 2.6.11-3+b1
Severity: serious

- --- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Whilst running GIMP the X system freezes. It seems to happen at random,
but perhaps more often during opening / saving files.

The GUI is then completely locked up. I have to log into my machine via
SSH in order to safely power it down. I cannot kill the X session
either: the monitors still display the state when it crashed and
strangely the mouse still responds to movement. ps aux reports a defunct
gnome2 session, which kill -9 won't touch.

I use the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau graphics driver, and there have
been similar bugs with that in the past, but it seems now that GIMP
triggers the freeze (i.e. only GIMP, and consistently GIMP). In the past
similar "GUI lock-up" type bugs (in nouveau) were random.

It makes GIMP pretty much unusable for me!

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like
http://wiki.debian.org/systemd#Issue_.233:_Dependency_cycle_in_portmap.2BAC8-nfs-common.2BAC8-rpcbind

I'd need the full output to verify that, though.

What does systemctl status dbus.socket dbus.service say?

The alioth project is merging in the useful changes from the gitorious
one.

I will be packaging the alioth version soon.

Hello.

It seems that bug described in closed bug report #588352 can be found in
version 1.35-7 that currently installs in stable (Squeeze) release.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=588352

Example:

###
###

root@mail:/etc/postfix# /usr/lib/tumgreyspf/tumgreyspf-clean

/usr/lib/tumgreyspf/tumgreyspfsupp.py:8: DeprecationWarning: The popen2
module is deprecated. Use the subprocess module.
import syslog, os, sys, string, re, time, popen2, urllib, stat

root@mail:/etc/postfix# aptitude show tumgreyspf

Package: tumgreyspf
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 1.35-7
Priority: optional
Section: mail
Maintainer: Thomas Goirand
Uncompressed Size: 209 k
Depends: python-spf, adduser, python, passwd, spfquery
Description: external policy checker for the postfix mail server
Tumgreyspf can optionally greylist and/or use spfquery to check SPF
records to determine if email should be accepted by your server. The
default behavior is to let emails comming from server that are SPF
approved without any sort of

SPF is information published by the domain owner about what systems
may legitimately send e-mail for the domain. Greylisting takes advantage
of spam and viruses that do not follow the RFCs and retry deliveries on
temporary failure.
These checks can be used as part of a mail system and allow several
orders of magnitude reduction in spam, lower system load, and few
problems with legitimate mail getting blocked.

Tumgreyspf uses the file-system as its database, no additional
database is required to use it, see /var/lib/tumgreyspf/data and it's
clean-up cron script. Also take care that tumgreyspf will block emails
from any domain with DNS
configured with a buggy SPF record.

gnome-terminal is a GNOME 3 app and you changed the font settings with
gnome-control-center from GNOME 2, right?
GNOME 2 and GNOME 3 use different configuration settings/systems, so this
behaviour is to be expected.

Yes, I'm interested in the output. You can get that e.g. via a serial console.

Please look for more general terms like gdm.

Do you get any hints why gdm3 is failing when you run

export _SYSTEMCTL_SKIP_REDIRECT=true
sh -x /etc/init.d/gdm3 start

Could you check if gdm3 uses any scripts that interact with /sbin/init directly.

Thanks,
Michael

i've installed systemd-sysv, so systemd is pid1. I didn't supply any
particular kernel cmdline options, i'm relying on /sbin/init pointing to
the right thing. Sorry for the confusion!

my point was that with that symlink installed, i reboot and get no
display manager. without that symlink, i reboot, and i get a functional
gdm3.

Bug#637040: RM: t1lib/5.1.2-3

2011-08-07 Thread Michael Gilbert
Package: release.debian.org
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: rm
Severity: normal

Hi,

t1lib has a significant set of security vulnerablities [0] and there
is no sign of them ever getting fixed with upstream missing in action
for over three years now. Because of these issues, xpdf for example
has dropped support for it in favor of freetype2 [1]. poppler did
this a long time ago as well.

There are a few reverse dependencies, which could also be updated to
use freetype instead. These include:

  php5 (php5-gd binary package)
  xdvik-ja
  vflib3
  matita
  libimager-perl
  lablgtkmathview
  grace
  evince (libevince3 binary package)
  dvipng

I would recommend removing t1lib from the archive. If the release
team concurs with this, I will file serious bugs against the
reverse dependencies.

Once that's done and everyone is in concurrance, I'll send a
message to the ftp masters for removal.

Best wishes,
Mike

Bug#637037: systemd-sysv: gdm3 fails to start when systemd is pid 1

That means, with sysvinit installed and init=/bin/systemd?

Your bug title is a bit confusing, as systemd is pid 1 in this case, too.

I doubt that the systemd-sysv package being installed makes any difference here,
as it basically just ships a symlink /sbin/init → /bin/systemd.

Which version of gdm3? I'm using the version from unstable without any issues.

Could you please get a full debug log of running systemd with
systemd.log_level=debug systemd.log_target=kmsg [1]

What's the output of systemctl show gdm3.service and systemctl status
gdm3.service? Any log messages regarding gdm3 in daemon.log or messages?

I don't see what security problem there could be. Note that the
command would be specified by the user, so that everything in under
his control. Only its argument or standard input would come from
the terminal, but it's up to the command to check its input, as
usual.

Of course the user must know what he's doing, but this is also true
when copy-pasting to a terminal with a shell (which can actually be
more dangerous as arbitrary commands can be run).

Just like http://bugs.debian.org/625690 but the bind_utf8-fix patch

I am pretty sure this patch is the problem, since alt-backspace did

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the delay, I was away for a while. I have to admit, I have not paid

up I would not mind at all. If there are no volunteers I'll have a look at the

Bug#637034: please build plymouth on powerpc (or, preferably, on all arches)

2011-08-07 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Package: plymouth
Severity: wishlist

plymouth appears to be marked for i386 and amd64. There are many
powerpc machines left in the world, and most of them can be found very
cheap.

It would be nice to be able to offer these machines as free-software
desktops, kiosks, etc.

For this sort of use, though, a pretty boot process makes the machines
less scary. plymouth seems like one way to do this.

Is there a reason to not enable plymouth on all architectures? If not
all arches, at least powerpc would be nice.

Thanks,

Bug#631087: debootstrap fails to unmount /proc from target

Right. debootstrap *tries* to unmount /proc - but it also hides errors
from its cleanup functions, and if I log the errors, I see:

umount: /proc: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))

This is presumably bug #634107.

Maybe I should reassign this bug to mount and merge with that, but we
might as well avoid this in debootstrap by using the '-n' option to
umount. Since we run mount in the target chroot, none of the
directories mounted under the target will ever be present in the outer
/etc/mtab and there is no need for umount to read or write it.

Attaching patches to use umount -n and to log errors in cleanup.

Ben.

Hi!

Your package failed to build on the buildds as it build-depends on perl

reasons autobuilder only consider the first alternative (perl >= 5.14)
which is currently unsatisifable in unstable.

This is strange, the entry for /home should be

I think it's "N-Terminus"

formal_charge looks like a variable name, it shouldn't get capitalized in that
case I guess.

Otherwise the german term is "Formalladung".

Bug#637032: please allow /lib/modules mount points

2011-08-07 Thread Robert Millan
Package: partman-target
Version: 75
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: zfs

check.d/proper_mountpoints prevents placing mount points in a subdirectory
of /lib. At least on GNU/kFreeBSD, using /lib/modules as mount point is not
only supported but even mandatory for certain configurations when using ZFS.

I traced the addition of "/lib*" to commit
3a083d4f9167b52155aff7b1d2e431da4ea031a1
by Colin Watson (CCed). Assuming the intent was to match all directories in /
that begin with "lib" (i.e. /lib{,32,64}), my proposed patch is to list them
explicitly.

Bug#542146: it's per-component, not per-URL

2011-08-07 Thread Adam Borowski
I see that you're trying to encode the whole URL in one go using some
low-level module. This doesn't work, you'd need to either manually split
the URL into components and convert parts that do need converting, or use a
higher level tool, such as Net::IDN::Encode

to the best of my understanding this is not a bug but intended behavior.

/proc/kmsg is a virtual file provided by the kernel, its size is always

I presume that it would still unshare the volume prior to umount?

Your change seems to contradict the OpenSolaris ZFS documentation[1]. It
postulates that automatic mount management is what you want and the other way
is legacy. Now the consequence of that chance is that the ZFS data structures
tell that they should be automounted at $location but we ignore that now?

Doesn't that have the potential for breakage upon the next reboot after
installing that stable update? (Especially for machines with a single
kFreeBSD&ZFS instance, i.e. servers?)

Kind regards,
Philipp Kern

Bug#622664: [Possibly RESOLVED] gnome-bluetooth: Confirmed crashes when called from gnome-control-center

2011-08-07 Thread Arief M Utama

Hi again,

I think I've found the culprit.

When installing network-manager, it pulled network-manager-gnome which
in turn pulled in libgnome-bluetooth7.

While we are installing gnome-bluetooth 3.0.0 which depends on
libgnome-bluetooth8

Unfortunately I cant purge/remove libgnome-bluetooth7 just like that as
it would pulled out network-manager and etc.

So what I did for now is just:

 dpkg --purge --force-all libgnome-bluetooth7

Everything, err... I mean gnome-bluetooth 3.0 settings, is working fine
after that.

Hope it helps. Now I'll be looking forward to removal of
libgnome-bluetooth7 from network-manager-gnome dependencies :)

Thanks.

All the best.

Thanks for your help; anyway, the package still requires a few work to
reach Debian quality (there is some duplicated code that must be
disabled in favor of the copy already present in Debian; moreover I have
to verify the copyright status of the new code). I won't have much time
in the next days, but I hope to have the new in a week.

Josm API is quite unstable, so we have to make josm-plugins depend on a
specific version of josm and keep them updated at the same time. This
will require even more time for me, since I have to prepare both uploads.

I'm traveling right now, but can test and upload a new version in about a week,
and also forward the patch upstream. Will that fit the transition schedule?

That sounds reasonable to me. Are you up for preparing such a patch or
do you need me to do it?

hmm, we've seen this on multiple machines, and they didn't all have a
prior warning. in the referenced machine, though, it was 5 months
previously, a netdev watchdog timeout. It doesn't seem related to me,
but i'm happy to include the dump here in case anyone else can extract
meaning from it:

Bug#636837: RM: flutejava -- ROM; FTBFS, not maintained, low popcon

2011-08-07 Thread Andrew Ross
Actually, scrap that, I'll update the jfree version instead since I can
actually get it to build without errors. Please feel free to go ahead
with the removal.

Thanks,

Bug#637028: dmidecode does falsely use bit 7 when decoding the chassis-type

2011-08-07 Thread Stefan Tauner
Package: dmidecode

the bug is present in all vanilla versions since at least 2.9 and in
various Debian-based distributions (Ubuntu, grml). the attached patch
was also sent upstream (and to Ubuntu). for details please see the patch.

Subject: [PATCH] Make dmi_chassis_type aware of the lock bit.
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
To: dmidecode-de...@nongnu.org

Previously all bits of the parameter passed to dmi_chassis_type were
used to derive the chassis type although the 7th bit indicates a
lock and only bits 6:0 encode the chassis type (7.4 System Enclosure
or Chassis (Type 3), offset 05h). This is ok as long as the input is
masked as it was done in dmi_decode, but it was forgotten in
dmi_table_string, resulting in wrong output if there is a lock
present:
dmidecode -s chassis-type

although the normal output is correct:
[…]
Handle 0x0003, DMI type 3, 17 bytes
Chassis Information
	Manufacturer: Chassis Manufacture
	Type: Desktop
	Lock: Present
	[…]

dump (the 5th byte (83) is the interesting one):
dmidecode -t chassis -u
SMBIOS 2.3 present.

Handle 0x0003, DMI type 3, 17 bytes
Header and Data:
03 11 03 00 01 83 02 03 04 03 03 03 03 01 00 00
00

Tested with current CVS code on a "Laptop" without a lock (by me)
and on the "Desktop" board dumped above (by Florian Zumbiehl, thanks!).

Bug#637027: xword: Pull changes from https://alioth.debian.org/projects/xword

2011-08-07 Thread Andrzej Bieniek
Package: xword

It looks that there are two parallel developments:
1. https://gitorious.org/xword
2. https://alioth.debian.org/projects/xword/

xword repository at alioth has a new stuff
e.g. crossword organiser which would be nice to have.

It would be good to merge those two developments together and get new
features to the package.

Sounds like a bug in flash-kernel's postinst hook (namely Bug#550584).
I'm therefore reassigning and merging the bug, but please feel free to
reassign back if I have made a mistake.

Thanks for writing.

Do you have any network devices besides eth0? Could you attach the complete
output of running "NetworkManager --no-daemon --log-level=debug".

After downgrading to mount 2.17.2-9.1 pbuiler started working again. It

Bug#637024: linux-image-2.6.39-2-ixp4xx: Unable to upgrade with package as released

2011-08-07 Thread Marc Singer
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.39-3
Severity: important

There appears to be a race condition in the installation of this package. I
believe that
the same issue was present in the 2.6.38 package as well. The package will
fail to install
because the postinst hook attempts to flash the kernel and initramfs before the
initramfs
has been created. We may be seeing a variance in the way that this platform
handles
the kernel and ramdisk as compared to the mainstream releases.

The error reported is that the kernel/ramdisk flash operation aborts because
the initramfs
is not found. Indeed, there is no initramfs in /boot when the postinst hook
runs. When I
reinstall the previously installed kernel I can see that the update-initramfs
script is
called *after* the kernel and initramfs are flashed.

I can work around the issue by unpacking the package, calling depmod and
update-initramfs
manually and then reinstalling the kernel package.

Bug#637023: dragged tab issues

2011-08-07 Thread Andrew O. Shadoura
Package: roxterm
Version: 1.22.1-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

If you drag some tabs from the middle to the very end,
you can run into the situation when the very last tab isn't selectable
by 'next tab' hotkey, but by 'previous tab' only, or with mouse click.

It's not really easy to reproduce, but I suppose it's not hard to spot
such a bug when you're familiar to the source code ;)

Bug#637022: libccid: Fix CCID_Receive when multiple message are received at once

2011-08-07 Thread Sebastian Schmidt
Package: libccid
Version: 1.4.4-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Upstream commit r4987 ("Use libusb-1.0 instead of libusb-0.1") breaks
communication with my reader (REINER SCT cyberJack RFID basis, USB
0c4b:9102).

When sending an APDU to the reader, e.g. via scriptor, libccid hangs
while waiting for data from the reader.

The pcscd log shows:
0009 APDU: 60

AF 04 01 01 01 00 16 05
0025 commands.c:1391:CCID_Receive() Time extension requested: 0x02
(now hangs there)

So what's happening is that libusb_bulk_transfer in ReadUSB returns two
messages at once, CCID_Receive calls ReadUSB again but the data already
has been read. For some reason this used to be different with libusb
0.x - I have no idea whether this is a timing issue or what not:

I have attached a patch (against svn trunk, yet it applies to the source

handling this for different cases as CCID_TIME_EXTENSION might be
necessary.

Bug#637021: make 'new tab' behaviour configurable

2011-08-07 Thread Andrew O. Shadoura
Package: roxterm
Version: 1.22.1-1
Severity: normal

Hello.

Recently, the behaviour of 'new tab' command has changed. Before
that, it added the new tab to the very end of the tab list, and now it
opens a new tab next to the current. That's not quite logical for me.
Please make this configurable.

Bug#637020: pu: package zfsutils/8.1-5

2011-08-07 Thread Robert Millan
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

This proposed update fixes three problems that may cause boot errors
when zfsutils is installed:

  * Set "X-Start-Before: checkroot" so that boot doesn't break when
fstab relies on ZFS volumes. (Closes: #635627)
  * Do not mount/unmount filesystems! This may result in unbootable
system if their mountpoints collide (typical in a dual-boot
machine). Use /etc/fstab instead.
  * Set "X-Stop-After: umountfs" to ensure ZVOLs are no longer in use
when "zfs volfini" is called.

Actually, could we keep this in please? It's a dependency of the
NetBeans package I'm working on. I'll prepare a new upload to fix the FTBFS.

Thanks,

Bug#637019: gamin: Fix FTBFS on hurd-i386

Package: gamin
Version: 0.1.10-2
Severity: important
Tags: patch
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: hurd

Hi,

currently gamin does not compile on hurd-i386. The problem is the
definition of PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE. The inlined patch fixes this
issue. The patch should be applied after 15_kfreebsd.patch. In fact,
editing that patch by removing the second part: && !defined(__GNU__)
fixes the build on hurd-i386.

Bug#637018: parcimonie: looks up keys using less than half of the fingerprint

2011-08-07 Thread Paul Wise
Package: parcimonie
Version: 0.5.1-3
Severity: normal

parcimonie seems to look up keys using less than half of the fingerprint
(last 8 bytes of the fingerprint). This is better than just using the
key id (last 4 bytes of the fingerprint), but it would be preferable to
use the full fingerprint to reduce the likelihood of extraneous keys
being downloaded and added to a user's keyring.

PS: I filed #636943 about the libtorsocks warnings.

Bug#636664: [p7zip] claims to contain 7z in short description

Replace 7z with gzip and you should understand the meaning of the short
description.
The sentence would be equally ambiguous with "gzip", but yes, I saw
there was a theoretical ambiguity. I don't think that's what was meant
though. If you compare p7zip's short description with p7zip-full's:
ii p7zip
9.20.1~dfsg.1-37z file
archiver with high compression ratio
ii p7zip-full
9.20.1~dfsg.1-37z and 7za file
archivers with high compression ratio
They would both use the same structure for 2 different meanings. Also,
the previous short description was:

7zr file archiver with high compression ratio

If that's really what was intended, then please consider this as a
report about the misleading ambiguity.

Are you sure that the hostname is resolving correctly? Can you
connect to it using curl or wget? Also, using "apt-get update"
instead of aptitude may be more informative.

If this is not the problem, please enable debugging ("$debug true" in
approx.conf) and send me the log output that corresponds to a run of
"apt-get update" on your clients.

from ctypes.util import find_library
libc = ctypes.CDLL(find_library('c'))
return True

Bug#637017: Applies local cluster's port number when connecting to remote server

2011-08-07 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: postgresql-client-common
Version: 113
Severity: important
File: /usr/share/postgresql-common/pg_wrapper

$ PGSSLMODE=require psql -h skinner.debconf.org -U USERNAME pentabarf
psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused
Is the server running on host "skinner.debconf.org" and accepting
TCP/IP connections on port 5433?

It took me a while to realise that port 5433 was the wrong port, and
psql should use port 5432 whether or not SSL is enabled.

At some point in the past the local system had two versions of the
server, and I assigned the default cluster for PostgreSQL 8.4 to use
port 5433. But this shouldn't have any effect when I'm telling psql
to connect to a remote server.

Ben.
