Btw could someone apt-get build-dep lightdm on io?

Bug#649685: Update of Package perl-modules fails

2011-11-22 Thread Matthias Faulstich
Package: perl-modules
Version: 5.12.4-6

Since yesterday (2011/11/22), apt-get dist-upgrade of testing/wheezy fails
with the message:

E: »perl-modules« konnte nicht unmittelbar konfiguriert werden.
Lesen Sie »man 5 apt.conf« unter APT::Immediate-Configure bezüglich weiterer
Details. (2)

(perl-modules could not be configured immediately ... )

Every-day-upgates of (testing/wheezy) before yesterday had no problems with my
apt.conf
settings, so I think the problem is really caused by perl-modules.

The version 5.12.4-6 is given by apt-cache show, so I don't know whether this
is the
version currently installed or the version to be installed by the upgrade.

Kind Regards
Matthias

I have purged the package - still no luck:

. alsamixer does not control PCM;

. each time mplayer2 starts - it has the same sound volume as if I did
not change it while playing.

Same symptoms.

Could you try if disabling address space randomization helps? Do:

sudo sysctl -w kernel.randomize_va_space=0

and retry.

Bug#619510: family tree types

2011-11-22 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

I thought about this bug.

Family trees can have many themes. One might encompass all direct
descendants of a single figure, or all known ancestors of a living
person. Another might include all members of a particular surname (e.g.
male-line descendants). Yet another approach is to construct a tree
including all holders of a certain office, such as kings of Germany.
This relies on dynastic marriage to hold together the links between
dynasties. (Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_tree )

So I put qualifier to family tree.

- The root directory has a number of branches, such as "`/etc/`" and
"`/usr/`". These subdirectories in turn branch into still more
subdirectories, such as "`/etc/init.d/`" and "`/usr/local/`". The whole
thing viewed collectively is called the **directory tree**. You can
think of an absolute filename as a route from the base of the tree
("`/`") to the end of some branch (a file). You also hear people talk
about the directory tree as if it were a **family** tree encompassing
all direct descendants of a single figure called the root directory
("`/`"): thus subdirectories have **parents**, and a path shows the
complete ancestry of a file. There are also relative paths that begin
somewhere other than the root directory. You should remember that the
directory "`../`" refers to the parent directory. This terminology also
applies to other directory like structures, such as hierarchical data
structures.

This doesn't say that the license headers from the source should be
exactly reproduced. It seems more likely that Joerg wanted to remind
people to include a disclaimer of warranty.

Cc-ed.

Regards,

[*] Quick reactions:

It's not obvious to me that one should take this email from five years
ago as authoritative. Couldn't something have changed since then? It
also seems possible that in details it might not precisely reflect the
project's, the ftpmasters', or even the author's opinion.

So I tend to trust the policy and ftpmasters' day-to-day feedback
more. For example: the aforementioned email says that
debian/copyright should contain the authors' names, but much software
in Debian only lists the copyright holders' names (e.g., libc), and I
don't think that's a bug.

Bug#649681: sauerbraten: Menu icon resolution too small

2011-11-22 Thread basile
Package: sauerbraten
Version: 0.0.20100728.dfsg+repack-3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

The menu launcher icon installed with the package is only available in
resolution 32x32 pixels. (/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/sauerbraten.png)
In GNOME 3, the application menu display icons in 96x96 pixels by default (or
bigger). Smaller icons are stretched to this resolution and as a result, the
Sauerbraten icon looks a bit pixelized.
I can provide a set of higher resolution icons for my favorite game to be
included in a future package update if you'd like. Please just let me know.
This is a very minor "issue" and I wasn't sure if I should report it or not...
I hope its ok.
Have a nice day.

OK. Could only the BCM4331 device ID (14e4:4331) be referenced in
bcma/host_pci.c as an alternative?

This device is found in the MacBookPro8,1/2/3 and TTBOMK is not currently
supported by brcmsmac (per "recognized PCI IDs" in brcmsmac/mac80211_if.c)
or the out-of-tree broadcom-sta driver.

You didn't introduce it, but I think the phrase starting with
"similarly to" here is problematic, since it makes the spec harder for
people outside Debian to understand and use, without adding much
clarity to compensate for that. Could we remove it?

At first I thought License paragraphs consist of a
License field and nothing else, but then I
remembered that extra fields can be added to any paragraph.

So the mention of the absence of a Files field does seem to be needed
after all. That would make:

There are three kinds of paragraphs. The first paragraph in
the file is called the [header paragraph]. Every other paragraph
is either a [Files] paragraph, characterised by the presence
of a Files field, or a [stand-alone license] paragraph,
characterised by the presence of a License field and absence
of a Files field.

Bug#649678: alien doesn't use --description for package summary

2011-11-22 Thread Alfie John
Package: alien
Version: 8.81

I'm using alien to convert a tarball into a Debian package. When I
install the newly created package and search for it using `apt-cache
search`, I get the following:

  $ apt-cache search checksum
  ...
  pt-table-checksum - Converted tgz package

To me "Converted tgz package" is kind of useless. I've provided a
--description to `alien` when building, but it doesn't use my
description as the parameter to `summary` for Alien::Package. It's only
use is to concat it onto the full description (useless with apt-cache
search).

I suggest using the --description option for the one-liner summary if
provided so that I get the following:

  $ apt-cache search checksum
  ...
pt-table-checksum - Percona table checksum (Verify MySQL replication
  integrity)

I'm using Debian Squeeze.

Thanks! See [1].

A serial console would presumably require a USB-to-serial converter,
so that's likely to be more fussy[2].

Bug#649676: check-mk-doc: Wrong installation path, wrongly compressed

2011-11-22 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
Package: check-mk
Version: 1.1.12-1
Severity: normal

There are a few issues with the latest check-mk release regarding the
installation of the check manpages:

a) check-mk-config-icinga (and probably -nagios, too) point to the wrong path
   in /usr/share/check_mk/modules/defaults for the

check_manpages_dir  = '/usr/share/doc/check_mk/checks'

It should (probably, see b) be /usr/share/doc/check-mk-doc/checks

b) dh_compress compresses larger files in /usr/share/doc/check-mk-doc/checks,
which prevents them from being found in the multisite GUI. They should
either be excluded from compression, installed somewhere else or even
installed in/by the check-mk-multisite package instead.

True. A previous version of the format included a default
license short name of "other", and the examples were probably
just not updated since them.

Here's a patch. I think it would be better to set a good example
by providing examples without templates like "[LICENSE TEXT]" in
them, though.

Bug#649675: isoquery: Performances issue

2011-11-22 Thread David Prévot
Package: isoquery
Version: 1.5-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for developing isoquery, it's really useful.

Since isoquery has been rewritten in Python, it's a lot slower than it
used to be. In the Debian website, since www-master has been upgraded to
Squeeze, the build is significantly longer when we rebuild (once a day)
the w.d.o/international/l10n/ part of the website. isoquery is used to
display the name of the language and country on each stats page, for
each translation, see e.g. the titles of the following pages:

http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/fr_FR
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/fr_FR.de
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/fr_FR.fr
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/fr_FR.ja
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/fr_FR.ru

With the Lenny version of isoquery, 0.16-1, the rebuild of the English
part of the website, was:

~/webwml/english/international/l10n$ time make install
[…]

real15m38.250s
user0m57.700s
sys 0m21.621s

With the current version, 1.5-1, it takes significantly more time:

real20m30.436s
user4m24.157s
sys 0m51.967s

Since this part of the website is available in 14 languages (so this
part of the website is build 14 times), the full run after the daily
data update broke the four hours limit (the website is rebuilt six
times a day), and that's why we notice the problem.

I would love if you could improve those performances.

Regards

David

2011-11-22 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.9.2
Severity: normal
User: debian-pol...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: informative issue

Dear all,

here is a proofreading of the examples in the latest draft [b4d036b].

I think that this is also a good opportunity to comment on the relevance of
these examples if need is, so I will wait a little before submitting a
conservative patch if nobody thinks the examples should be changed. (In
particular, the discussion in #649530 highlights that some of the examples are
very artificial and turn quickly into cornercases in the real life, because the
GPL and the MPL feature edited notices where the name of softwares or their
holders are edited).

At mininimum, the correction for the following points are needed.

Example 1: missing opening bracket in the fourth paragraph.

Example 3: missing license short name for debian/* files.

Example 4: missing license short name for debian/* files.

Have a nice day,

Bug#643620: www.debian.org: Changelog of various packages is not available

2011-11-22 Thread Arno Töll

Hello,

this appears to be a recency problem. Maybe some cronjob or such stopped
working. This results in outdated changelogs for packages which have
been updated in Sid in the last month (roughly).

Take my istgt package for example:

Latest version is 0.4~20111008-1 [1 dead link], however the latest
available changelog (and copyright) on packages.d.o is for the previous
version 0.4~20110928-1 [2].

Bug#588874: usbmount parses output from blkid incorrectly and as a

2011-11-22 Thread Mi

I wonder why the full output of blkid is parsed at all, instead of requesting
the wanted components separately. It seems it would be much safer and clearer,
and might be faster as well (though that doesn't really matter).

I'm particularly concerned about possible parsing problems, as this bug shows.

Are the "-s" and "-o" options to blkid not always available?

What about the following patch?

Bug#649673: linux-image-3.1.0-1-powerpc: fails to boot - immediate oops

2011-11-22 Thread cfr
Package: linux-2.6

Version: 3.1.1-1
Severity: important

What led up to the situation?

Updated default kernel from testing to linux-image-3.1.0-1-powerpc.

Received warning messages regarding possible missing firmware for
wireless card and graphics driver (broadcom and nouveau). It warned me
that I might need to enable contrib and/or non-free. These are already
enabled - I had to enable them to get the broadcom card to work. As far
as I can tell, my wireless firmware is up to date. Even if it was
missing, it would not (should not) prevent booting. I'm not convinced I
am using non-free firmware for my nvidia graphics card. If I am, it will
be the first time nvidia show any sign of support for their cards on PPC
under linux!

I clicked on the restart-required icon for the package manager in the
system tray. (I'd call it a menubar but that's refugees from Apple for
you. So I might have the term wrong.)

I chose to restart immediately.

System went down, restarted.

Choose Linux at the first boot prompt; default at the second.

Kernel oops. Boot failed. Turned machine off at switch. Restarted
choosing to boot the 2.6 kernel at the second prompt.

Before restarting after the upgrade, the only thing I fiddled with was
that I changed the symlinks under /boot so that the two for the "old"
image pointed at the 2.6 series kernel rather than the previous 3.0
series kernel. I did this because the latter has proved very unstable
and panics frequently whereas the former seems much more tolerant.

What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Booting with the 2.6 series kernel was effective.

What was the outcome of this action?

Machine booted, is usable. But obviously this is a different kernel and
not the one I'm reporting a bug against.

What outcome did you expect instead?

That's what I expected. I expected the 2.6 series kernel to boot OK
because it worked fine before and I knew I could access it using "old"
because I'd changed the symlinks as explained above. (I know it is
possible to boot another image but I didn't want to have to figure this
out if the new 3.0 kernel proved as problematic as the previous one - I
wanted a safety net I could rely on and access easily.)

Note that BTS could not be contacted so I have no way of knowing if this
is already reported.

I don't have access to a digital camera right now though I can try to
get a shot with one if required. I don't have any idea how to use a
serial or net console - or even what these are. If somebody points me to
a document, I will try to figure it out, though.

The two things which reliably caused the previous kernel to panic were
certain USB devices and some kind of issue with upgrading bluetooth
modules. (I don't actually use bluetooth but it seemed impossible not to
have them and impossible to have them. Essentially the kernel module
could only be updated by booting into the 2.6 series kernel.) But this
one panicked on boot so I am not even getting that far.

Bug#646313: Typo in debian-reference-it

retitle 646313 reactivate translations for de, it, pl, pt-br, zh-cn, zh-tw in
wheezy

Hi,

Thank you your report.

Italian translation work has been dormant for very long time. Its
source has not been converted to the new XML/po4a combination source style.

So it contains too much outdated contents and became unmanageable for
me to keep updating with English version.

For wheezy, I decided to disable all such souses based on SGML before
June 2008. This is before current oldstable=lenny. So I carried these
outdated ones over 2 stable releases.

German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Chinese (Traditional), and
Chinese (Simplified) are also in the same situation.

Since DDP web pages do not erase old build result (at least for now),
you still see these old files. But there is no more package.
(I may find a way to fix translation bug but I have to confess that its
priority is low. I need to create new source tree using old one to do
this.)

I would rather accept updated translations on the current contents of
Debian Reference as po4a based translation. Can you ?

Quick guide:

* Copy debian-reference.pot and rename it to debian-reference.pt.po
* Use po editor such as gtranslator/poedit/Emacs pomode/,,, to translate
it. (You can still use old translation as text reference. But
  markups has changed significantly.)
* Send it to me :-) (thus moreinfo tag)

You can get the latest debian-reference.pot from the web:
See
http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/ddp/manuals/trunk/quick-reference/po4a/debian-reference.pot?view=log

Of course, you can use subversion to get the whole DDP files and it
contains entire source.
See http://www.debian.org/doc/cvs

Thanks

Osamu

The following patch transitions libpaper to use of the multiarch library

Could you please review and apply it?

(I'm particularly interested in this because it will allow me to use
multiarch to cross-build one of my packages, groff.)

Unknown. I couldn't even get later verions to run stabily with current X for
long enough to tell. 649239, 649280, 649346, 649465, etc.

I'm currently using 11-10 with old X packages, but when I have some time to
close everything out and reboot the machine (it is my main work desktop) I'll
test 11-11 and current X.

My X packages are held at the indicated old verisons:
xserver-xorg 1:7.6+8
xserver-xorg-core 2:1.9.4-1
xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-2
xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.5.0-2
xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.6.0-3

With these old X packages, the bug does not appear, so perhaps that is a useful
data point.

Probably still worth libclass-isa-perl, so I will do this.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the second two options here either.

The effect of TODO in t/test.pl it to run the tests but not make them
fatal, I believe, so I don't think this holds?

Bug#643832: libnetty-java: please package new upstream version

Hi pkg-eucalyptus team,

Le vendredi 30 septembre 2011 09:25:13, vous avez écrit :

I'll need an updated Netty release (for Maven 3.x packaging). Is that ok for
Eucalyptus to update ? What's targeted release for Eucalyptus 2/3 ?

Cheers,

Bug#649648: transition: gnome-desktop3

2011-11-22 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Hi,

on our road to GNOME 3.2, we'd like to start the gnome-desktop3
transition now.
The libgnome-desktop library had a soname bump
libgnome-desktop-3.so.0 → libgnome-desktop-3.so.2.

Packages build-depending on libgnome-desktop-3-dev:

cheese
eog
evolution
gnome-control-center
gnome-panel
gnome-screensaver
gnome-settings-daemon
gnome-shell
nautilus
nautilus-open-terminal

All those packages can be binNMUed.
I test built those packages against libgnome-desktop-3-dev 3.2.1-2, and
the all build fine aside from evolution, which currently FTBFS for other
reasons. I've filed a bug for that [1].

We have three other packages dependending on libgnome-desktop-3-0:

tracker-miner-evolution
evolution-rss
evolution-exchange

This is due to evolution-shell-3.0.pc having Requires: gnome-desktop-3.0
in its pkgconfig file. It looks like this dependency can be marked as
private, so I filed [2]. This means once we have a fixed evolution
package, we can binNMU those three packages (in advance) so they drop
the libgnome-desktop-3-0 dep.

Would be great if we can start the transition as soon as possible.

Michael,
on behalf of the Debian GNOME team.

Bug#649132: gnucash changed the "Tip Of The Day" window position

I can also see that each time I start GnuCash (and quit it
immediately), the window position changes. I got successively:

[441,-177]
[437,-197]
[433,-217]
[429,-237]

i.e. each time (-4,-20) is subtracted from the coordinates.

This is a consequence of libdpkg being static-only. I think this is
impossible to address it before dpkg starts shipping a shared
library, but i think you can work around it with something like

ghci -lbz2 -lz /tmp/libdpkg-extracted/*.o dist/build/Debian/Dpkg/*.hs

(/tmp/libdpkg-extracted containing the result of `ar x /usr/lib/libdpkg.a`)

> The version in sid has this too. Any ideas?

No, but you should have fewer problems with runhaskell or ghc.

Looks reasonable enough.

Bug#649646: evolution-shell-3.0.pc: Mark gnome-desktop-3.0 as private

2011-11-22 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: evolution-dev
Version: 3.0.3-2

File: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/evolution-shell-3.0.pc

The .pc file currently contains:

Requires: gtk+-3.0 gconf-2.0 gnome-desktop-3.0 libedataserverui-3.0

A simple grep for libgnome-desktop in /usr/include/evolution-3.* doesn't
turn up any reference, so it looks like gnome-desktop-3.0 can be marked
as private.
This would also make the upcoming gnome-desktop transition simpler, as
we can can binNMU tracker, evo-rss and evo-exchange in advance and have
them drop the dependency on libgnome-desktop-3-0.

Cheers,

I meant to ask what it is meant to accomplish. Joss mentioned that
dropping "-z defs" is a bad thing since it would let undefined symbols
slip through the cracks. But these plugins are not linked to the X11
libraries that they use or even libm when they use routines from
there, so it seems strange.

Of course that doesn't change that there is probably a binutils bug
here somewhere. Thanks for your help so far in tracking it down.

alpha and hppa aren't in the archive other than for oldstable, so
there's no packages to remove for those architectures. Although, it

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, Gold isn't available on ia64,
neither in Wheezy, nor Sid. And I can't make it compile successfully
:-(

No. But since -z defs and --no-undefined are the same (from the
manpage), that's a good thing ;-)

> Presumably -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,--error-unresolved-symbols errors out ---
> what is the message when it does?

All the plugins complain about missing reference to
gnome_settings_plugin_get_type.

And some have additional missing references (mainly X11-related):
- a11y-keyboard: Xkb{Set|Get}Controls, XkbFreeKeyboard, XSync,
XkbQueryExtension, XkbSelectEvents;
- automount: XkbGetState;
- background: XInternAtom, XGetWindowProperty, XFree;
- clipboard: XSync, XInternAtom, XGetWindowProperty, XFree,
XChangeProperty, XConvertSelection, XSendEvent, XGetWindowAttributes,
XSelectInput, X{Set|Get}SelectionOwner, XCreateSimpleWindow,
XDestroyWindow, XExtendedMaxRequestSize, XMaxRequestSize, XIfEvent;
- keyboard: XkbFreeKeyboard, Xkb{Query|Use}Extension, XInternAtom,
XFree, XGetSelectionOwner, XAutoRepeat{On|Off}, XkbSetAutoRepeatRate,
XChangeKeyboardControl, XkbKeysymToModifiers, XkbSelectEventDetails,
XGetAtomName;
- mouse: floor, floorf, ceil, ceilf;
- print-notifications: notify_notification_new,
notify_notification_set_hint, notify_notification_show;
- xsettings: XInternAtom, XChangeProperty, XSendEvent, XSelectInput,
X{Set|Get}SelectionOwner, XCreateSimpleWindow, XDestroyWindow,
XIfEvent, X{Open|Close}Display, XResourceManagerString.

It's noteworthy than debian/rules top build script passes by default
--warn-unresolved-symbols to the linker, so the above missing
references are obviously hidden. I don't know if these missing
references are thus expected in the present context or if it's
expected that --warn-unresolved-symbols is passed to the linker rather
than --error-unresolved-symbols (default behavior from the manpage).

Bug#328581: Happy holidays

Greetings!

As you know we offer a variety of services throughout Southern and Central

removal, tear gas cleanup, gross filth and many other hard to confront
cleanups. We also offer Medical Waste pickup services to Medical, Dental,
Vets,
tattoo, hospice and other businesses that need it.

I'm not sure if you have seen any documentaries on Crime Scene Cleaners, but
we
have seen a few and are appalled by the mentality of some of the people in our
industry. Cendecon techs are very professional and caring. We are respectful
and I can honestly say that all our employees have big hearts.

In our experience, our services are most requested around the holidays, as
horrible and sad as it is, we are here to help families - even if it means
working through the holidays. I know that some are offended by what we do, but
anyone who has ever needed our services were so glad we were there for them.
In
fact our most common response from our clients is:

"You guys were great to work with on this difficult situation. You all have a
Happy Thanksgiving."

Although we hope you will never need our services, we are here to help anyone
in
need.

Cendecon technicians are fully trained, experienced and specialize in the
decontamination of blood and other bio-hazardous materials. We are licensed

Bug#649643: RM: hlint [alpha armel hppa] -- ROM; Depends on src-exts, not available on these arches

2011-11-22 Thread Joachim Breitner

Hi,

as noted by Julien in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=647309 haskell-src-exts
cannot be built on weaker architectures such as alpha, armel and hppa.
hlint was built there in an old version, but new versions use src-exts.
So unfortunately, we cannot provide hlint on those architectures any
more.

#647309 of course stays a valid but, but is not rc any more, as src-exts
never was built on these architectures. I’m downgrading it already now,
if for some reason hlint is not removed, remember to upgrade it again.

Thanks,
Joachim

Bug#649641: pulseaudio mutex issue on Alpha architecture

2011-11-22 Thread Bob Tracy
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 1.1-1
Severity: important

Iceweasel and firefox browsers crash with the following error:

Assertion 'pthread_mutex_unlock(&m->mutex) == 0' failed at
pulsecore/mutex-posix.c:106, function pa_mutex_unlock(). Aborting.

Always reproducible by starting either firefox or iceweasel, then clicking
on the drop-down main menu in the upper-left corner of the browser window.
The application immediately aborts with the above error message.

See https://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13567 for a similar bug report
on the ARM platform. A workaround suggested there is to disable the PTHREAD
priority inheritance feature (in the source package) by adding

pulseaudio_cv_PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT=no

in "configure.ac" before

AS_IF([test "$pulseaudio_cv_PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT" = "yes"], [
AC_DEFINE([HAVE_PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT], 1, [Have PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT.])
  ])

I have no idea whether this is applicable to Alpha.

Bug#649398: gnome-packagekit-data: Updates do not work

2011-11-22 Thread Matthias Klumpp
If you run "gpk-application" in a terminal and then run System->Update
package lists, does it update the list?
If yes, this is not a bug ^^
PackageKit/Apt automatically refresh package lists in the background
and you have to run a manual refresh if you want to see updated
packages instantly.
Cheers,
  Matthias

Bug#649540: ACPI failures on Dell Latitude E6220

2011-11-22 Thread Juliusz Chroboczek
Hi,

[CC-ing the relevant Debian bug report.]

Running on a Dell Latitude E6220 with BIOS A03, battery life is
surprisingly low, the thermal zone is always at 25 degrees (although
both coretemp and i8k indicate reasonable values), and reboot hangs
without reboot=pci.

With no parameters, the kernel complains:

> [ 227.525937] ACPI Exception: AE_TIME, Returned by Handler for
> [EmbeddedControl] (20110623/evregion-478)
> [ 227.525946] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed

> [ 227.526053] parport_pc 00:08: disabled
> [ 228.025281] ACPI: EC: input buffer is not empty, aborting transaction

A full log is attached; the output of acpidump is on

  http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/private/latitude-e6220-acpidump.txt

(I cannot attach it since it apparently trips a virus scanner somewhere.)

Adding acpi_serialize causes udev to hang; if you wait for long enough,
udev enters a timeout loop (repeatedly timing out when trying to call
modprobe).

Adding reboot=pci makes reboot work.

Adding ec_delay=1000 has no apparent effect.

Adding pcie_aspm=force has no apparent effect.

Bug#389476: Scrolling with background colors is still much slower

2011-11-22 Thread Jim Paris
Hi,

Xterm is still *really* slow for me when background colors are set;
it's if jump-scrolling is disabled. For example:

$ time xterm -geometry 80x25 -e 'for i in `seq 1 1`; do echo -e "This is
line \e[40;31;01m$i\e[0m" ; done'

real0m23.052s
user0m1.396s
sys 0m1.148s

$ time xterm -geometry 80x25 -e 'for i in `seq 1 1`; do echo -e "This is
line \e[31;01m$i\e[0m" ; done'

real0m0.781s
user0m0.400s
sys 0m0.116s
