I'm not sure I follow.

$ kvm -version
QEMU emulator version 1.0 (qemu-kvm-1.0 Debian 1.0+dfsg-1), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard

$ kvm -cpu \?
x86 [n270]

x86 [pentium3]
x86 [pentium2]
x86[pentium]
x86[486]

x86 [kvm32]
x86 [qemu32]
x86 [kvm64]
x86 [core2duo]
x86 [phenom]
x86 [qemu64]

$ kvm -cpu foobar
Unable to find x86 CPU definition

Yes, qemu tries to open /etc/kvm/qemu.conf and /etc/kvm/target-x86_64.conf
but these files are not mandatory - built-in configuration (as used
without these files) is exactly the same as if there were the default
files installed.

The bug looks like an operator error - quit typical trap I'd say,
using a shell metacharacter (?) in a directory where there's a file
matching it. Do you not agree?

Hi

There seems to be a bugreport related to this issue upstream [1].

Could that solve the blocking bug for the transition?

I was also able to reproduce this failure locally in pbuilder on amd64.

I do not know why the package built successfully on the other

in the autobuilder chroots for some reason.

Please add python to the build-depends.

No, it is a bug in latex-make that should depends on python (the last

retry with any version of latex-make *but* 2.1.16-1 (2.1.16-2 is just
uploaded)

I'm inclined to follow this advice and would indeed propose that the
"atomic" partman-auto recipe is kept, however without a separate /usr
partition (discussions on -devel and the current practice convinced me
that a separate /usr is seomthing that probably belongs to the former
century..:-)

So, would it be OK for participants in this discussion is we, in the
installer, just drop separate /usr but keep the atomic recipe (which
is not the default choice, by the way)?

Hello,

The package build-depends on python-central, which should be removed in
time for the wheezy release. dh_python2 should be used instead.
dh_python2 installs into the same locations as pycentral, but avoids the
creation and removal of symlinks at package installation and removal
time, making the upgrade process more robust and faster.

dh_python2 guarantees the installation into the same recommended site

Ah, ok.

Btw, don't worry. Didn't spend a lot of time on this. It was just
unclear what was blocking a fix for #650709.

But everything is clear now and I guess you'll make the upload soon.

I suspect I'll rework the patch a bit. Upstream needs to distribute
config.guess and such. So, I think a more robust patch would be
for the debian/rules to delete the upstream file and then copy
the files from the autotools-dev build-time package to replace
upstreams.

Bug#652322: faust: /usr/lib/faust/misc.h uses atoi but doesn't include the header for it

2011-12-15 Thread peter green

package: faust
serverity: serious
version: 0.9.43-1
justification: causes another package (which built successfully in the
past) to FTBFS

Building foo-yc20 on most architectures* gives

g++ src/faust-dsp-standalone.cpp -O2 -ffast-math -ftree-vectorize -fPIC
-DVERSION=1.3.0 -I/usr/lib/faust -Isrc/ -Iinclude/ -DPREFIX=/usr -Wall -c -o
src/faust-dsp-standalone.o
In file included from src/../gen/yc20-dsp-standalone.cpp:36:0,
from src/faust-dsp-standalone.cpp:31:
/usr/lib/faust/misc.h: In function 'long int lopt(char**, const char*, long
int)':
/usr/lib/faust/misc.h:45:75: error: 'atoi' was not declared in this scope
make[2]: *** [src/faust-dsp-standalone.o] Error 1

It seems that misc.h is using atoi but not including stdlib.h. A c
program will get away with this (with an implicit declaration warning)
but a c++ program will not

This does not seem to affect the version in testing.

* local tests show foo-yc20 building fine on amd64, I dunno why. Buildd
logs show foo-yc20 building fine on kfreebsd and hurd, presumablly
because there the latest version of faust isn't built there.

Bug#646600: jarjar misbuilding bug is serious

2011-12-15 Thread Daniel Schepler
severity 646600 serious
thanks

This bug is serious: if you rebuild jarjar in current sid, and then try to use
that rebuilt package, the results are broken. For example, I ran into this
with my Debian rebuild with cglib failing to build from source. It took me a
while to find this bug report and find out that it was the cause.

I actually wonder: is it a good idea in the first place to keep this misfeature
(asm classes copied into the jar under a different Java package name) in the
Debian packages? It seems to me this is a Java equivalent of including
private copies of external libraries in a source package, which is frowned
upon in Debian packages. Maybe the Debian version should be patched to use
the system asm libraries instead of bundling in a copy of whatever system asm
library happens to be available at build time.

Bug#498440: aptitude: ?upgradable search term

2011-12-15 Thread Daniel Hartwig
> Regarding the search term
> ?upgradable ~U Select packages that are installed and can be upgraded.

>safe-upgrade

It is not.

The set of packages selected by ?upgradable is a superset of those
which would be upgraded by either safe-upgrade or full-upgrade.

It is not uncommon that a package could have a newer version
available, but that neither safe- nor full-upgrade would upgrade it.
Indeed, full-upgrade may even remove such a package due to conflicting
other upgrades -- such a package can still be upgraded by selecting it
manually, hence, it is still `upgradable'.

So technically, `?upgradable' only considers if there is a candidate
version available which is newer than the current version. It
directly uses info from the package cache and this is a very quick,
per-package operation.

The current documentation for this rightly does not relate this to
safe-/full-upgrade because the upgradable status is independent of
these mechanisms.

I am not sure that the current matcher code does support this very
easily. Though I wish anyone luck in trying.

> Or maybe for all this one should just use -s and parse the results oneself...

Perhaps a quick hack could be an option/script to change the output of
simulate to return a straight list of upgraded, installed, or removed
packages.

I was also able to reproduce this failure locally in pbuilder on amd64.

I do not know why the package built successfully on the other
autobuilders but I suspect that python was simply already installed
in the autobuilder chroots for some reason.

Please add python to the build-depends.

It's 0, I don't see any clauses in the OCTPL itself which render it
GPL-incompatible, agreeing with Denis' interpretation.

Indeed.

Do you have a link where they acknowledge GPL incompatibility? The
preamble isn't part of the legally-binding text.

No, I meant that until December 2, Debian had not given an official
ruling indicating whether OCTPL is GPL-compatible. Now they have issued
a ruling but without any clarity or justification.

I'm going to ask Joerg for a clarification on his email of December 2.

I'm sorry, can you be more specific? You have concluded that the
OpenCASCADE Technology Public License (OCTPL) is incompatible with GPL?
Which part(s) of OCTPL is/are incompatible?

Or do you agree with Francesco's analysis based on the preamble, which
is not legally binding?

Bug#650709: murrine-themes broken by libgtk-3-0

2011-12-15 Thread Michael Biebl
tags 650709 + patch
thanks

The Greybird upstream git respository has been updated to work with gtk
3.2. I've picked the v0.3.0 release [1] and updated the murrine-themes
package accordingly. I've also added a Recommends on gtk3-engines-unico,
which is required by this theme.

The resulting packages work nicely for me.
I've uploaded them to [2], just in case you want to have a look or
anyone else want's to test them.

As a fix is available, I'm marking the bug as patch available.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#651969: [Pkg-tcltk-devel] request for upload / XOTcl 1.6.7 upstream release

2011-12-15 Thread Stefan Sobernig

Sven,

I refrain from uploading that right now, in case you can come up with
something more appropriate.

Sven,

I refrain from uploading that right now, in case you can come up with
something more appropriate.
I was desperately looking for the quirk in the source package, only to
find out in the end that the upstream tarball itself contained the built
artifact (actually, a couple of *.o and the one *.so):

% debian/rules get-orig-source
% tar -tzf xotcl_1.6.7.orig.tar.gz | fgrep .so
-> xotcl-1.6.7/library/store/XOTclSdbm/libxotclsdbm1.2.so

Grmpf. I rebuilt our distribution archive, now

% debian/rules get-orig-source

... delivers a clean upstream distribution there should not be any
need for patching the source package as such. Thx, anyways, for your
quick fix suggestion.

I can't explain to myself how they ended up in the release tarball, I
need to check back with my colleagues.

Could you upload again, please, so the new orig tarball is picked up?

Sorry for the inconvenience,
Thx
//stefan

I tried to test openstack on a little dedicated server.
I can't reinstall it, it's a Debian Squeeze 32bits.

All nova-* demons fail with a segfault.

I see a similar bug in RedHat bugzilla :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=746771
The problem was in python-greenlet.

Another similar for Ubuntu, with the upstream patch reference :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-greenlet/+bug/840641

And perhaps the Debian bug #650293 can be a duplicate.

The problem does not occur on an amd64 VM machine I have, so must be arch
specific.

Crap. The kernel has done us in. Reassigning to dpkg to get some input on
what should be done. Raising severity because it will cause some services
to not be stopped or restarted properly, which has security implications.

Guys, 3.1 changes /proc//stat, and breaks anything using
start-stop-daemon --name that also messes with the name of the process. Due
to the chage in /proc//stat, the executable name is not matched
anymore.

This probably affects only processes that change their "visible identity"
(or whatever the string output by ps -aef is called) like amavisd-new does.

Unfortunately, using --exec is not enough when you're dealing with perl,
python or other scripts.

How should we proceed? Drop use of start-stop-daemon --name in amavisd-new
and document this kernel ABI issue in start-stop-daemon(8)? Reassign to the
kernel on the grounds that it broke the userspace ABI? Enhance
start-stop-daemon to take a --namere (regexp) and use that in amavisd-new
instead?

Found the problem. PETSc built on November 16 with mpi-defaults 0.6
which depended on LAM on non-openmpi arches. Now mpi-defaults 1.0.1
released 12/4 depends on MPICH2, so we have a mix of architectures
installed. And mpi-defaults just went into testing today... Crap!

It may be that other PETSc dependencies need rebuilding too... and there
are a lot of them! Let's see: suitesparse, spooles, hypre, scotch,
blacs-mpi, scalapack, mumps, all have to be rebuilt with MPICH2! What
was built when:
  * suitesparse: April 15 2010
  * spooles: May 11 2010
  * hypre: August 15 2010
  * scotch: April 6 2011
  * blacs-mpi: August 29 2011
  * scalapack: September 18 2011
  * mumps: March 31 2011
None was built recently, all need to be rebuilt. mpi-defaults should
not be in testing until at least these are rebuilt, probably others.

Note: HDF5 is not a problem for PETSc because PETSc only links to it on
OpenMPI platforms. I forgot why that is, maybe it's worth a try
building PETSc against HDF5-mpich2? Maybe later...

Okay, cloning this bug to a bunch of packages, see above. I've been an
uploader to all except blacs-mpi and scalapack, and many of them could
use some maintenance, this is a good excuse to spend time on them. :-)

The point of the above was to show that it could be made that upgrades
would be unaffected by the change: it would only occur for new
installs. I'm not saying that's the only way or the best way, just
that it's one possibility to consider.

Bug#652306: pulseaudio: cannot select different master channel

2011-12-15 Thread Kenneth Wayne Foy Jr
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 1.0-4
Severity: grave
Tags: d-i
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,
After I install Debian testing with a KDE environment, my volume is too loud.
When I try to turn it down, the screen tells me that the level is going down,
but the sound doesn't change until the level is almost to mute. Then, the sound
gets too quiet, so the sound is either too loud, too quiet or muted with a lot
of space in between where the volume doesn't change.

When I right-click the volume (KMix) to investigate and select another master
channel, there is only one channel listed: Internal Audio Analog Stereo.
Changing
the Current Mixer option doesn't give me more channels. When I run alsamixer in
a terminal, there's only one channel: Master. If I remove pulseaudio and log out
or restart kdm or the computer (can't remember which), KMix then has several
channels to choose from, and alsamixer has about a dozen channels as well. Then,
I can pick one—like PCM—which has the full range of volume.

My computer is several years old, and its sound jack on the back is actually a
headphone jack. The Master and Headphone channels also affect the volume after
removing pulseaudio.

Regards,
Kete

Got it. Thanks for explaining.

I had misinterpreted [1] to mean you were interested in discussion of
patches destined for stable before their time comes.

New heuristic: cc stable@ on _patch submissions_ to mainline aimed for
stable (and the resulting review) but not other discussion.

Sorry for the noise,

Right, and I'm not too worried about this yet.

It is a limitation, but it's not a large one in the face of answering the
question "what _should_ the feature set be for this combination of
arch/cpu/etc?" which is what both "hardening-check" and "lintian" need to
be useful for their checks.

While doing this, it seemed that creating a full "set_feature()" callback
was more work than it needed to be. I can certainly add it, but I thought
I'd show you where I am now first. If you still want the set_feature()
calls, I can add those, but I think it'll make the code less readable.

Subject: [PATCH] dpkg-buildflags: provide feature query ability

Since the logic for having a hardening flag enabled or disabled depends
on the architecture, and since the flags may change over time for each
hardening feature, there needs to be a way to externally query the state
of the hardening features. Specifically, lintian needs this to be able
to figure out if a binary package is missing expected hardening features.
Instead of maintaining multiple hard-coded lists of expected hardening
features, this makes dpkg-buildflags the canonical location of the
information, which can be queried by externally. (See bug 650536.)

Bug#652303: stackapplet: doesn't byte-compile Python module (after rebuild)

2011-12-15 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: stackapplet
Version: 1.4.0-2
Severity: important

I rebuilt stackapplet in a minimal chroot. The resulting binary package
didn't byte-compile its Python modules anymore.

Indeed, debian/rules doesn't call any helper that'd take care of it
(except when python-support is installed in the build environment, but
you don't build-depend on it).

Bug#652301: Please make /var/run a relative symlink

2011-12-15 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: base-files
Version: 6.5
Severity: wishlist
File: /var/run

/var/run currently links to the absolute path /run. For convenience
when accessing the files of a partition other than /, it would help to
have this as a relative symlink to ../run instead. This way,
/srv/somechroot/var/run would link to /srv/somechroot/run, not /run.

Thanks,
Josh Triplett

Package: python-ucltip
Version: 0.6+git08dec97-1
Severity: serious

python-ucltip doesn't depend on python.

There is "Depends: ${python:Depends}, ..." in debian/control, but
debian/rules doesn't call any helper to populate this variable. From
the build log:

Urgh, yeah. I've attached an updated patch.

Since libproxy-dev doesn't ship any shared objects, it doesn't need the
Pre-Depends, but yes, everything else was in the wiped-out control file. :)

Thanks!

Bug#652298: ddclient: service stop doesn't kill running ddclient; start/restart with duplicates

2011-12-15 Thread Bin Guo
Package: ddclient
Version: 3.8.0-11.3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these lines ***

Noticed several instances of ddclient running, running "service ddclient stop"
didn't stop them, neither "killall ddclient", only "killall -r ddclient" worked.
Now, "service ddclient start" or restart would start duplicates.

It seems to be caused by the process name changed to "ddclient - sleeping ...".
Removing "--name" from test/stop cases of start-stop-daemon in /etc/init.d/
ddclient seesm to fix it.

Here are some logs:

Bug#652296: zabbix: should build-depend on libmysqlclient-dev to pick up latest version of libmysqlclient on rebuild

2011-12-15 Thread Clint Byrum
Package: zabbix
Version: 1:1.8.6-1
Severity: normal

Hi! We changed the zabbix package in Ubuntu so that we could migrate from
libmysqlclient15 -> 16, and now libmysqlclient18 is coming with mysql 5.5
(in experimental now, should land in unstable soon).

It will help quite a bit with the transition if you already build-depend
on libmysqlclient-dev, since libmysqlclient15-dev is going away.

This is also the only delta we have in ubuntu now, so it would allow us
to sync the packages back up.

Thanks!

I thought step 1 in the right way was for the patch to hit mainline. :)

The patch:

 - is obviously correct and tested against 3.1.y
 - is very short
 - fixes only one thing
 - fixes a real bug that bothered people (boot failure)
 - also removes the deprecated IRQF_DISABLED flag; I'd be happy to undo
that part and get another round of testing before sending it to you
 - would obviously follow Documentation/SubmittingPatches rules when
   sending it to you
 - does *not* yet have an analog in linus's tree. BTW, I'm not sure
   why this isn't in Jens's for-linus branch.

Bug#652295: openjdk-6: JRE defaults heap to 1/4 total ram, so can fail with a ulimit in force

2011-12-15 Thread Andrew Ross
Package: openjdk-6
Severity: normal

Java uses 1/4 ( MaxRAMFraction [1]) of the _physical_ memory as heap
(Arguments::set_heap_size() [2]). If there is any limit pushing java
below this, for example a ulimit, it will fail. The failure could also
be cause in a virtualised situation for example using OpenVZ where the
kernel will report the total memory, but the partition has a limit of
less than 1/4 of that.

The only reasonable workaround is to pass the "-Xmx" option whenever
you run Java, but this isn't set when installing the
openjdk-6-jre-headless package, so even setting that package up can
fail with:

Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap

I'm not sure of the best course of action to solve this - it seems like
the nicest thing would be to look at the limit using the ulimit
interface and reduce the default to a bit less than that (to allow for
things other than the heap itself).

Correction. Wicd is /not/ running:

sudo service wicd restart
Restarting Network connection manager: wicd.
pde@xylophone:~$ ps aux | grep -v grep | grep wicd
pde@xylophone:~$ sudo wicd -f
(drops back to a shell)

An strace of wicd is here:

Bug#651673: Can somebody sponsor an update of xxxterm

2011-12-15 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi guys,
Can either of you know sponsor xxxterm, its a minimalist webkit
browser. I do use Google Chromium and Midori alongwith xxxterm. Midori
is hell buggy while xxxterm is nice. The guy who maintains it does not
seem to have upload rights hence he has asked for sponsorship for
uploading the package. Can either of you fine gentleman do the needful
?

Giving below my wishlist bug, and his mail to debian-mentors and where
the package is :-

Bug#652275: Guided partitioning should not offer separate /usr, /var, and /tmp partitions; leave that to manual partitioning

I don't think these things are alike. Separating /var and /tmp from the
rest of the file systems is done because those partitions contain varying
amounts of data and often fill if something goes wrong, but can fill
without impacting the rest of the system and allowing easy recovery if
they're not on the same partition as everything else.

Separating /var continues to be good and recommended practice if you're
running anything that's likely to produce a lot of output, IMO. (/tmp
should probalby just be tmpfs, but that's another discussion.)

This is not the correct way to submit patches for inclusion in the
stable kernel tree. Please read Documentation/stable_kernel_rules.txt

Bug#652293: emacs-goodies-el: please, include emacs-textmate mode in emacs-goodies-el

2011-12-15 Thread Rogério Brito
Package: emacs-goodies-el
Version: 35.2
Severity: wishlist

Hi there.

emacs-goodies-el is a goldmine of some really extensions and I just found
about a mode that I've been using for some months now that I wished that
were in emacs-goodies-el: emacs-textmate.

It provides some handy things like automatic insertion and removal of
parenthesis, brackets, braces, single/double quotes etc.

The (infrequently) updated mode is available at:

http://code.google.com/p/emacs-textmate/

Thanks,

Bug#652292: ITP: libobject-role-perl -- base class for non-Moose roles

2011-12-15 Thread Florian Schlichting
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Florian Schlichting

* Package name: libobject-role-perl
  Version : 0.001
  Upstream Author : Toby Inkster
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~tobyink/Object-Role-0.001/
* License : GPL-1+ or Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : base class for non-Moose roles

The idea of Object::Role is to be a base class for roles like
Object::DOES, Object::Stash and Object::ID. It handles parsing of import
arguments, installing methods into the caller's namespace (like
Exporter, but using a technique that is immune to namespace::autoclean)
and tracking which packages have consumed your role.

While Object::Role is a base class for roles, it is not itself a role,
so does not export anything. Instead, your role must inherit from it.

libobject-role-perl is a dependency of libobject-authority-perl.

It is. The buildd network (and at least some other sbuild setups) will
only consider the first package in a set of alternative dependencies

If you're going to use alternative dependencies, you either need to keep
the "abi-name" entry up-to-date, or swap the order - i.e. "lazarus (>=
VER) | lazarus-VER".

Adam

tkman lists tk8.4 as its dependency; it now uses wish (not wish8.4), and

Interesting interfarence.

I've only been using ibus. Until last week, having both
installed didn't cause any problems. But then it led to this issue,
as described in the bug report. Anyway, once I realized scim was
installed, I removed it, restarted X, and now ibus works properly,
as it did before. If I had realized scim was still installed and
that the packages were interfering with one another, I could
presumably have solved it using update-alternatives. Thanks for the
help.

Oh, funky alternative is for im-switch. No more with im-config.

I shuld have mentioned to start im-config to remove ~/.xinputrc

I wonder if the initial order has an implied meaning (aka “if you're not
sure, use the first one; if you feel like it doesn't fit your need, look
at the second one, etc.”), and in case we should respect this order
(keep the default address in the first position), I edited your proposal
(in bold what I've changed after your proposal so it may be easier to
spot error I introduced):

Messages can be sent to the following addresses
*in order to be filed in the bug tracking system*:

n...@bugs.debian.org — *such messages* are also sent to the package
 maintainer and forwarded to debian-bugs-dist, but not to the submitter;

Bug#652289: O: magicfilter -- automatic printer filter

2011-12-15 Thread Rogério Brito
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the magicfilter package.

The package description is:
Magicfilter is a customizable, extensible automatic printer filter.
 .
It translates the files that you send to a printer to a "language" that
your printer can "understand". To accomplish this goal, it determines
the type of the file that is to be printed and uses its "knowledge" to
convert the file to something that is printable.
 .
This is done by use of magicfilter's own magic database (a la file(1))
to decide how to print out a given print job.

Object::AUTHORITY adds an AUTHORITY function to your package, which
works along the same lines as the VERSION function. The authority it
takes as an argument should be a URI identifying the person, team,

Yes. That IRQF_SHARED needs to be in there for the non MSI interrupt path

Bug#652285: gst-fluendo-mp3: Please transition gst-fluendo-mp3 for multiarch

2011-12-15 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: gst-fluendo-mp3
Version: 0.10.15.debian-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu precise ubuntu-patch

Hi guys,

Please find attached a patch to gst-fluendo-mp3 to transition it to use of
the multiarch library paths as described at
. This patch has been
tested and included in Ubuntu Precise.

gstreamer is one of the last major bits needed to have a multiarch-friendly
wine package in Ubuntu; I presume it will be useful to Debian for the same
reason.

The changelog entry for this upload to Ubuntu is:

  * Build for multiarch.
  * Bump dependency on libgstreamer0.10-0, and build-dependency on
libgstreamer0.10-dev, for proper multiarch support.

Note that the build-time dependency in Debian should probably be on
libgstreamer0.10-dev (>= 0.10.35.2-2), not (>= 0.10.35.2-1ubuntu2).

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#652283: llvm-3.0: FTBFS on hurd-i386

2011-12-15 Thread Pino Toscano
Source: llvm-3.0
Version: 3.0-4
Severity: important
Tags: patch
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: hurd

Hi,

currently[1], llvm-3.0 fails to build on GNU/Hurd.

Attached there is an improved version of the existing patch
0011-Hurd-fixes.path, adding changes in new files:
* lib/Support/Unix/PathV2.inc:
  - hackish way to supply the missing PATH_MAX
[not suitable for upstream]
  - in current_path(), use 1024 as starting size for the "result"
variable; the code grows the buffer until it fails with ENOMEM
or similar anyway, so it will at most do few (re)allocs more.
[can be sent upstream]
* Makefile.rules:
  - set a linker version script also on GNU/Hurd
[can be sent upstream]
* tools/llvm-shlib/Makefile:
  - use the --whole-archive/--no-whole-archive and --no-undefined
linker flags also on GNU/Hurd
[can be sent upstream]

Regarding the test suite: currently most of the test fail, because we
don't support $ORIGIN in RPATHs, yet. I wanted to see how the tests
performed, so I manually exported LD_LIBRARY_PATH to
$PWD/build-llvm/Release/lib, which gave as result (compared to
linux-i386):
- CodeGen/X86/2010-06-14-fast-isel-fs-load.ll failing (as on linux-i386)
- CodeGen/X86/vec_compare-2.ll -- failing on Hurd
and the other passing, so overall it seems pretty good.
(The "$ORIGIN in RPATH" shouldn't matter for the final packages, as
RPATH is stripped since the libllvm is in a public library directory.)

Yeah, I've been primarily concentrating on adding the new features
instead of documenting them. I'll try to get around to this sometime
soon. [I have write access to the CVS repository, so it's mainly a
matter of time and remembering to get around to it.]

Bug#652282: e16-data: e16-gnome session does not work with gnome 3

2011-12-15 Thread Pierre Neyron
Package: e16-data
Version: 1.0.0-4
Severity: important

The e16-gnome X session does not work with gnome 3.
Adding the --session gnome-fallback (as present in the gnome-classic X session)
makes it work.

(Thanks for that easy-to-read version!)

One minor thing caught my eye in the original text just above your
modifications: "If a developer wishes to reply [...] they should
simply [...]" is a rather obtrusive use of "singular they". If we
want to avoid that I'd suggest "Any developer wishing to reply [...]
should simply [...]". It's far from urgent, though.

The English needs a bit of work there ("will receive messages sent to
the following addresses"), but I'd prefer to reorganise things a bit
more to make it obvious that it's saying that for all of the following
addresses the minimum result is that the message will be filed in the
BTS.

It wasn't until I read the last one that I was sure what other
recipient the "also" was taking for granted in the first two. Would
it perhaps be clearer if we changed the order?

Bug#652281: qemu-kvm: sysconfigs missing from /etc/kvm

2011-12-15 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: qemu-kvm
Version: 1.0+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

The manpage says to use "-cpu ?" to get a list of cpus, but this only outputs:

Unable to find x86 CPU definition

the reason is that /etc/kvm/target-x86_64.conf is missing - once this file
is there the -cpu switch works again.

qemu has exactly the same problem, except it looks at /etc/qemu instead of
/etc/kvm

Bug#648565: [pkg-bacula-devel] New upstream release

2011-12-15 Thread Luca Capello
Hi there!

NB, your reply should have been a follow-up to [1] and to the Debian
BTS: I replied on purpose to all the people who asked for an updated
version to document the status on the BTS (which is supposed to stay
"forever", not like this mailing list).

Bug #648565 re-added, R-T and M-F-T set accordingly (no need to Cc: this
list, it gets all the emails from the BTS).

What does it mean that the Git debian/control is quite old? Have you
checked it against the last package available in Debian, to find out
where is the problem?

Indeed, the Git repository at [2] is missing the last uploaded Debian
version: Hauke, I guess you forgot a `git pull`, can you do it, please?

BTW, the Git repository should be 'bacula.git' and not 'pkg-bacula.git',
given that it has never been included in any official Debian
package yet I will fix it in the next days.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca

Thanks for your bug report; unfortunately I can't reproduce it; I
tried running the test suite and the example.pl under a German
locale, and I didn't encounter any problems.

Could you please provide us with instructions and/or a minimal
example script on how to reproduce the error?

Thanks,
gregor

Maybe a naive comment, but I would say that there should be a list of
all the benefits for any change, being it / -> /usr or /usr -> /, then
deciding which is the Right Thing™ would be "easier" (doing so we can
also document our choices).

So THANK YOU Marco for explaining (another) one for / -> /usr, I was
thinking of asking Roger about it [1] before reading your reply ;-)

Bug#652280: /init calls non existent /scripts/init-premount

2011-12-15 Thread Sebastien Hinderer
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.99
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm really not sure whether this is a bug or not. If it is, I find it very
strange that it has not been reported already because it seems important
to me.

Anyway: /innit:210:
run_scripts /scripts/init-premount
But the /scripts/init-premount directory does not exist.

On the other hand, there's a directory /scripts/local-premount which is
never mentionned in the init script.

Thus I'm wondering whether there isn't an error in the init script o in the
directory's name and whether they shouldn't be the same.
Sorry if this is not a bug!

Bug#652279: gnome-shell: Crash on xsetroot -cursor_name ....

2011-12-15 Thread clohr
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-8
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

The plain old xsetroot command seems to cause hazardous effects.

First, try "xsetroot -cursor_name cross" (or another cursor name).
The windows are flashing, but we get the selected cursor.
Try again one or two times, then gnome-shell crash.

Regards
Christophe
