Hello

When the otion Disable touchpad while typing is active on my laptop then
after next login is Gnome-shell broken. No battery applet, windows decoration
is wrong, touchpad function is affected as well. If the option Disable
touchpad while typing is disabled then Gnome-shell works well.

My laptop is Lenovo B560 with Intel HD graphic.

Thanks

Bug#644224: Save-as: defaults to display of recent directories, which I do not, want

2013-01-05 Thread Michael Biebl
With 2.24.14-1 (currently available in experimental) you can change the
default from recent to cwd in
~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini
via
StartupMode=recent|cwd

A future version of gnome-tweak-tool will have a proper UI for changing
that setting.

gtk 3.4 or 3.6 currently don't have an equivalent config option but is
scheduled for 3.8.

This probably means your gnome-settings-daemon has crashed.
It would be great if you could get us a backtrace [1] in that case.

After following the explanation from the excellent blog:

I still cannot get clang++ to work on my sid+experimental schroot

 $ clang++ -fsanitize=null -o plop foo.cpp
 /usr/bin/ld: cannot find
/usr/bin/../lib/clang/3.2/lib/linux/libclang_rt.ubsan-x86_64.a: No such

clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see

What do you expect from -fsanitize=null ?

Both:
$ clang++ -fsanitize=address -o plop foo.cpp
$ clang++ -fsanitize=address -stdlib=libc++ -o plop foo.cpp
works for me with clang 3.2-1~exp1 and libc++ 1.0~svn170866-1~exp1

When you say “frozen desktop”, that means you can interact with any

or only with the desktop (where are the icons)?

  so
I have switched from X window to console (ctrl+alt+F1), killed the

Well, I don't think it's really meaningful here, since you manually
killed it. If it's the window manager freezing, it might be interesting
to check the output of .xsession-errors and /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I didn't use the Templates folder. For me, it behaves like this in any

Yes but “create document” uses the template folder. What do you have in

Bug#697430: fakeroot: Please separate preloaded libraries with colons

2013-01-05 Thread Geoffrey Thomas

Package: fakeroot
Version: 1.18.4-2

Hi fakeroot developers,

If @LDPRELOADVAR@ is already set, scripts/fakeroot.in separates LIBS with
a space. This works fine for LD_PRELOAD on GNU/Linux, but not for
DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES on Mac OS X, which must be colon-separated. So if
you already have a library in DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES, this breaks usage of
fakeroot:

dyld: could not load inserted library:
/Users/gthomas/src/debian/b/lib/libfakeroot.dylib /tmp/d.dylib

/Users/gthomas/src/debian/b/bin/fakeroot: line 181: 75294 Trace/BPT trap:
5 FAKEROOTKEY=$FAKEROOTKEY DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=$LIB $@

Fortunately, glibc permits separating LD_PRELOAD with either a space or a
colon (see the comment near line 1658 or so in elf/rtld.c, and the
changelog entry of 1998-02-01). So I propose that you make
scripts/fakeroot.in line 168 use a colon, which will fix the bug on OS X
and continue to work fine on GNU platforms. (Because glibc tokenizes at
_both_ spaces and colons, there is no problem if the existing LD_PRELOAD
variable includes multiple preloads separated by spaces.)

I don't know if fakeroot supports any platforms that require
@LDPRELOADVAR@ to be space-separated and not colon-separated, which would
make my suggested fix not work.

After my tests, everything looks fine on Debian side.

picard-tools breaking on Ubuntu is just the symptom.

I see now that my raring chroot is acting opposite from my sid chroot.
In Ubuntu, the two filenames in debian/links are in the wrong order
and the snappy .jar is missing unless I build it with the filenames
reversed. In Debian, the .jar is missing if the filenames are
reversed.

I don't know much about how debian/links works so I think we may need
to ask for help about figuring out the right way to fix this.

It is a simple package steps creating the symlinks within debhelper
scripts. You may create a bug on Ubuntu side regarding links management in
debhelper. It is weird that package build is not the same between Debian
and Ubuntu. May be related to an issue with package build tools.

Build-Depends. The documentation for the custom target should probably
mention it though.

Bug#697433: New field Package-List in .dsc

I just realised that we forgot to document this field.

How about the following patch.

Bug#357385: unrtf: Incorrect comment closing tag in HTML causes body of document to appear as a comment

2013-01-05 Thread Willi Mann
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Hi!

Thanks for looking at this bug. It seems we are getting close to zero
bugs for the debian package, since the next upstream version will have
working latex output again and fix the last remaining bug.

0.21.2-2 does indeed fix the closing comment tag, but it does still
have -- within the comment, which is potentially problematic. I
won't go into the gory details, but W3 note that:

Authors should avoid putting two or more adjacent hyphens inside
 comments.

 http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/intro/sgmltut.html#h-3.2.4

It seems in practice it doesn't cause problems with the browsers I
checked, so I think leaving this bug closed is appropriate as
unrtf's output no longer causes the body of the document to appear
 as a comment.

Since it is should but not must, a fully conforming HTML parser
should be able to deal with the hyphens. However, fixing this is
trivial. Dave, can we fix this in 0.21.3, please?

Bug#687829: psmisc: pstree hangs on kfreebsd-amd64

2013-01-05 Thread Steven McDonald
Hi there,

Sorry to bring this bug up again, but it's causing the kFreeBSD
shutdown process to hang (since it runs pstree to show any processes
still hanging around after sending out a SIGTERM), which means the
wheezy release of kFreeBSD will be significantly broken if this fix
doesn't migrate to testing.

Would it be possible for the package maintainer to submit a freeze
unblock request for this package?

Thanks,
Steven.

Hi Christian,

2012-12-15 15:23, Christian Perrier:
The debian/po/de.po file is missing a Plural-Forms header while
 still using plural forms.

I suggest adding it as I did in the attached file.

Thanks, applied in VCS.

Severity: normal

I would like to upload a patched version of gzip to fix #627121
(grave; use of memcpy with overlapping memory regions).

This bug was fixed in gzip/1.4-1 by upstream changes; looking at the
upstream ChangeLog[1], only a single file (inflate.c) was affected[2].

I have attached the relevant source debdiff.

Bug#697435: Warn users about removal of old update.d/bind

2013-01-05 Thread Thomas Hood
Package: resolvconf
Version: 1.69
Severity: minor
Tags: confirmed

Resolvconf 1.69 (and thus Wheezy+1) moves the old
/etc/resolvconf/update.d/bind script out of the way. (See bug report
#687507.) (The file has not been included in resolvconf since 1.53 and thus
has not been included in a Debian release since Squeeze.)

A few users may be using this file because it was installed in the Squeeze
or earlier era, or because they copied the example file to
/etc/resolvconf/update.d/ and named it bind. For the benefit of such
users there should be a warning in NEWS that the file is being moved out of
the way.

This bug is currently severity important but one's mileage may vary,
and for some users, it might become release critical, particularly
because it implies a regression from squeeze.

Because of samba upstream bug #9042, upgrading from samba 3.5 and, I
suspect samba 3.4 as well, may lead to lose printer definitions for
shared printers, because the TDB file cannot be migrated.

Thanks a lot for the excellent backtrace. It looks like it could be
related to libcanberra or PulseAudio, since the deadlock happens while
 playing a sound event.

In any way it is unrelated to the GC changes, so that corroborates your
 testing of earlier versions.

You can try disabling event sounds to see if that’s what actually causes
 the deadlocks.

Bug#357385: unrtf: Incorrect comment closing tag in HTML causes body of document to appear as a comment

2013-01-05 Thread Olly Betts
On Sat, Jan 05, 2013 at 11:36:15AM +0100, Willi Mann wrote:
Thanks for looking at this bug. It seems we are getting close to zero
bugs for the debian package, since the next upstream version will have
working latex output again and fix the last remaining bug.

Great news.

Sadly it's not quite that simple. There's a reasonable summary of the
history here:

http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/SGMLComments.html

However, fixing this is trivial. Dave, can we fix this in 0.21.3,
 please?

There's another bug in this area - if the \author in the RTF includes
-- then that gets copied across verbatim into the HTML, and you get
something like this in the output:

!-- author: foo--bar --

It would be more useful to map \author to a meta tag instead of a
comment (since then it's automatically available to other tools), and
then doing HTML entity encoding avoids such problems:

meta name=author content=foo--gt;bar

Cheers,
Olly

Bug#697439: fglrx-driver: dkms fails to build with kernel 3.7

The current fglrx kernel module doesn't build with the 3.7 kernel as available

I have checked, the patch seems to apply to both version in testing

I have seen you are in the LowNMU and the package maintained in
collab-maint. I can do a NMU in case you have not the time to prepare

LibNXT is an utility library for talking to the LEGO Mindstorms NXT
intelligent brick at a relatively low level. It currently does:

The package provides two binary files:

 * fwexec to upload image file to NXT brick and then execute it
 * fwflash to flash firmware image to NXT brick

Are you sure no other programs out there use these binary names in the path?
These seem far too general for a program that only flashes NXT bricks

This tool makes gitignore file. It gathers boilerplates from
github.com/github/gitignore . These boilerplates include some
typical purpose, for example, Python, Ruby, and other langauges, and
   Emacs, vim and other environments.

If I understand it correctly, this tool will connect to github at each
use of it.

Would be nice if Debian version of the tool could be made to made to
pass the lonely island test not only for source but also for runtime
use: Include with the binary package snapshots of those boilerplate
files, and use those by default, only fetching from github if explicitly
requesting it.

Bug#697356:

2013-01-05 Thread Fabio Pedretti
There are some more informations here:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2013-January/032205.html

Note that the llvm backend is optional and experimental for the r600 driver. I
enabled it some time ago on my Ubuntu PPA ( https://launchpad.
net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers/ ) and many users experienced problems
(see the phoronix thread).

About radeonsi, the llvm backend is required to build it, but xserver-xorg-
video-ati must also be compiled with glamor. glamor itself currently only works
with xorg 1.13:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Glamor

So I see no hurry for this, better wait for llvm 3.3 which will include the
proper and hopefully stabilized AMD backend and also a glamor which works with
recent xorg.

I'm trying to setup partitions like
1: sda1 /boot ext4 250MB
2: sda2 250G encrypted
 lvm vg00
 lv 10MB root
xfs to be mounted as root file system

It doesn't work. It seems to do the right thing but cannot create xfs fs.
It will create an ext4 fs but can't use that either!
In install phase it thinks all debs are corrupted. Very
difficult to stop the install phase when it errors.

If you revert to shell you can create luks partitition, create lvm pv, create
vg and lv. In that lv mkfs.xfs fails - wrong tag size or something. It seems
to know nothing about the partition. You can create an ext4 fs in the lv,
mount it and read it. If you mount it on /target/root and select 'install
base system' it insists on returning to partitioner but that fails to use
mounted root fs and kindly umounts it.

It behaves the same with graphical and dialog installer.

It's not a nice tool to use especially the partitioner. Half the menu goes
off the bottom of the screen, you don't know whether to choose 'done' or
'continue' or 'go back', there's no abort to main process menu and 'go back
shouldn't mean restart. Really, you need just one menu and it needs to be
consistent and it needs to do as it's told. But most of all, it needs to
handle errors properly.

I gave up - I couldn't figure what was wrong. I then tried netinst using PXE.
That hangs (needs power cycle) when you do 'configure keyboard'. Skipped that
phase and it went better. I managed to complete installation but it won't
boot. Initramfs issues the cryptsetup password prompt and then hangs (needs
power cycle). I wonder if the problem with kbd config and cannot read
keyboard at boot are related. But I can't puzzle it out.

I've spent hours on it now and I'm giving up. I've got another system,
identical h/w and config, which I just dist-upgraded to wheezy with just a few
minor problems so I think I'll copy that.

Finally a WIBNI. It would save a lot of hassle if it was possible to save
initial, network and the partition configs to, say, a usb stick, so one
doesn't have to go round and round that loop when things don't work. I must
have done it all 20 times.

All the best

Dick

BTW if you enter a partition size of 20G it will will give you 8.4G. You have
to specify 20GB. It's just a little thing but it is so annoying.

Bug#697444: unblock: exim4/4.80-7

2013-01-05 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package exim4. This is a minimal single-bugfix upload
for #697057.

Debian's exim configuration optionally allows to use spfquery to run
SPF-checks on incoming mail. Due to insufficient quoting it is
possible to pass on arbitrary arguments to spfquery and therefore
bypass SPF checks.

unblock exim4/4.80-7

thanks, cu andreas

In the documentation file README.initramfs.gz included with cryptsetup
section 6 mentions keyscripts will be include in the initramfs at
/keyscripts, however looking at the generated initramfs it appears
the keyscript is actually located at /lib/cryptsetup/scripts.

Bug#697448: xbmc: hangs on startup with no clue on why

2013-01-05 Thread Alexandre Rossi
Package: xbmc
Version: 2:12.0~git20130102.7a6cb7f-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I wanted to try out xbmc on a headless box.

I launch a X server using a custom script [1]. mplayer for instance works
fine with this X server.

[1]
http://sousmonlit.incube.tk/~niol/repositories/deejayd/file/tip/debian/deejayd.init

xbmc gives me a black screen (which replaces the root window background and
100% CPU usage. There is no clue in the debug logs of what is happening or what
is wrong.

This happens with both the version in wheezy and the version in experimental.

xbmc works fine on my laptop. Maybe xbmc is searching for a daemon that it
cannot find ? A window manager?

My Graphics controller is an intel G41 :
(II) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) G41

I tried to launch a window manager, dbus, pulseaudio, console-kit, nothing
changes.

How can I dig deeper into this?

Thanks,

Alex

Bug#697449: console-setup-udeb: Configuring the keyboard hangs

2013-01-05 Thread Brian Potkin
Package: console-setup-udeb
Version: 1.91
Severity: important
Tags: d-i

The ISO used was from

   http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/sid_d-i/current/i386/

In either install or expert mode with the text or graphical interface
the installer hangs at Configure the keyboard. Replacing

   /usr/share/console-setup/keyboard-configuration.config

with the version in the i386 ISO at wheezy_d-i results in keyboard
configuration taking place.

Yesterday's sid_d-i image (with console-setup-udeb 1.90) also exhibited
the same behaviour.

Regards,

Brian.

not cause any problems, not even an error message, but I wanted
to report it in case this issues masks a bigger issue.

  * Package name: gitignore-boilerplates
Version : 1.0.1
Upstream Author : Simon Whitaker
  * URL or Web page : https://github.com/simonwhitaker/gitignore-boilerplates
  * License : public domain
Description : shell script for easily accessing gitignore boilerplate

This tool makes gitignore file. It gathers boilerplates from
github.com/github/gitignore . These boilerplates include some
typical purpose, for example, Python, Ruby, and other langauges, and
Emacs, vim and other environments.

If I understand it correctly, this tool will connect to github at each
 use of it.

No, this tool connects github only at first time to create local cache
and explictly users order update the cache.

Would be nice if Debian version of the tool could be made to made to
pass the lonely island test not only for source but also for runtime
use: Include with the binary package snapshots of those boilerplate
files, and use those by default, only fetching from github if explicitly
 requesting it.

Thanks for fixing this in unstable. Can you also provide an update for

As a heads up, I plan to work on DSA's for gnupg{,2} this weekend, I'll
apply the patch from the unstable upload, unless you object.

Attached is the debdiff for the stable security update. A little
bigger than one might want, but it wouldn't build with removing some
of this cruft. Let me know if it's ok and I'll upload it.

Thanks. Yes, please upload (and don't forget to build with -sa to
include the orig.tar.gz).

Cheers,

Hello Guus Sliepen,

Wheezy should ship with a kernel version =3.2.
The current description of ifenslave states :
... This package supports 2.6.x kernels and the most recent 2.4.x kernels.

It would be nice if :
- the descrition of the package could be update before wheezy release (adding
the support for 3.x kernels).
- the package could be rename without the versioning (-2.6) for wheezy or a
futur
release.

Thanks for the package and your time.

Bug#697455: cryptsetup: expose number of tries to keyscript

2013-01-05 Thread Laurens Blankers
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.4.3-4
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

I would like to request the number of tries to be passed to the
keyscript e.g. through an environment variable CRYPTTAB_TRIES.
This would be useful in the following scenario: a keyscript
attempts to read a key from a USB stick and succeeds but the
stick contains the wrong key. On the second try the keyscript
could decide to ask the user for a password instead.

I currently implement this by asking for a key with a timeout
of 30 seconds and if no key is entered then proceeding with
retrieving the key from the USB stick. This works, however
it introduces a 30 second delay on boot.

I believe that implementing this feature may also solve issue
438481 and issue 471729.

Sincerely,

Laurens

Bug#697456: libc6-dev: Missing personality enum values in sys/personality.h

2013-01-05 Thread Roger Leigh
Package: libc6-dev
Version: 2.13-38
Severity: normal

sys/personality.h is out of sync with linux/personality.h.

It's missing:

UNAME26 =   0x002,
FDPIC_FUNCPTRS =0x008,  /* userspace function ptrs
point to descriptors
 * (signal handling)
 */

(from /usr/include/linux/personality.h)

It would be highly desirable for sys/personality.h to
include these as well.

This affects all versions in testing/unstable/experimental.

Thanks,
Roger

Since makehuman was not part of squeeze and the release is close, I
think it would be simplest to provide it to wheezy users through
wheezy-backports. That should make the release happen faster and
provide more flexibility for future bugfixes.

 What do you think?

I agree. I didn't insist too much in this, because it is not that important. So
yes, I think is fine what you suggested.

The full formula was just trivia. (stat's st_dev and lilo's MKDEV()

Well I rolled up my sleeves and took a look at lilo's source code,
particularly the MKDEV, MAJOR, and MINOR functions, and now I
understand what you are talking about. And you're right. The current
initramfs-tools code, particularly the parse_numeric function, can
handle major device numbers up to 4095 and minor device numbers up to
255. Whether lilo itself, in actual fact, can correctly handle major
and minor device numbers outside this range, I don't know. I didn't
dig deeply enough to verify that. But given that the above three
functions understand the format, I suspect that it will. If you want
to enhance the code to correctly handle the full 16-hex-digit composite
device number, go ahead. As you say, it's trivial. And that would
once again make you the author of the final patch, which is fine.

I patched /target/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions on the fly
with the following was able to get past this point in the install:

I've noticed which my other system which use nbd don't use any
partitions (so root=/dev/nbd0 not root=/dev/nbd0pX). Perhaps
non-partitioned is the common case when using nbd which is why it
appears to work for most people?

FWIW the partition layout which d-i selects if you pick all the defaults
(so guided all on one device or whatever it is called) has a separate
ext2 formatted /boot and a swap partition. I think the separate /boot is
a requirement of the hardware/firmware, or at least it is on some ARM
hardware, not sure why in this particular instance.

2013-01-05 Thread Norbert Veber
While I'm not 100% clear on how dovecot handles permissions, would the
fix not be to set mail_access_groups=mail?

Per http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Errors/ChgrpNoPerm

Otherwise your default mail_location can not work unless it writes the
files as root or something. This doesnt seem to be the case judging
from the permission errors reported earlier.

re-installs it with the same version, $2 is not empty -

I agree that this is a bug.

 I suggest that

  [ -z $2 ]

be removed, as a2enmod perl || true should be called
 in any case.

But I don't agree with this fix, as it will cause upgrades to always
enable the module, even if was previously disabled by the system
administrator. I don't see OTTOMH what the correct fix is, although I
expect that it will be easily discovered by looking at similar postinst

Bug#242499: libapache-mod-perl and request-tracker3 randomly sends html to error log instead of browser

2013-01-05 Thread Dominic Hargreaves

But this only happens after randomly sending request-tracker(perl) pages
directly to the apache error log instead of the web-browser. This has
affected my php pages as well although I have not noticed the php html
in the log files I now occasionally get empty responses from apache.

In an attempt to fix this problem I did the changed following in
 /usr/share/request-tracker3/libexec/webmux.pl

 #use Carp;
 use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser);

After restarting apache it worked fine for several hours. Now it won't
display a page from the request-tracker (perl pages) in the browser
instead all the pages are going to error log instead.

There was quite a bit of investigation on this bug, but no resolution
was ever reached. As this bug relates to long-obsolete versions of
Apache and mod_perl, I am inclined to close this now, but does anyone
have anything to add before I do?

Bug#697459: Not coinstallable due to libaudit-common dependency

2013-01-05 Thread Guido Günther
Package: libaudit1
Version: 1:2.2.2-1
Severity: important

Hi,
due to it's libaudit-common dependency libaudit1 isn't co-installable
with libaudit0. This makes it impossible to e.g. install a package that
is built against libaudit1 on the same system with a package that is
built against libaudit0. The simplest solution would be to upload a
libaudit0 that uses libaudit-common as well. Otherwise migrating package
by package will not be possible since this installing a package that
depends on libaudit1 will remove all package built against libaudit0.

Bug#697442: better experience with wheezy installer

2013-01-05 Thread Dick Middleton
Following my rant I zeroed the partition table and started over.

It all went swimmingly well. Using the net-dist CD.

No problems with xfs or crypto and errors. Also no finger trouble.

The only issue is the font on the console is set to 600x480 and not 1024x768
or even 1280x1024.

So I don't know what was wrong last night.

Before I reinstalled with the net-dist CD I wiped partition table and
reinstalled with netboot PXE. I missed out the keyboard section again. It
all installed OK but didn't boot - no grub. In rescue system iniramfs
complained about no kbd. I went back to keyboard section and it immediately
hung-up. I think there's a problem there.

Bug#697460: abcde: License problems

2013-01-05 Thread Lutz Kohl
Package: abcde
Version: 2.5.3-1
Severity: minor

abcde is certainly DFSG-free. However, exact license terms are
unclear because of ambiguities.

abcde is licensed under GPL2 or Artistic, choice of user.
Additionally, it is placed in the public domain from 2010 on.

Two problems:

1) The /usr/share/doc/abcde/copyright file differs from the header
lines of the script /usr/bin/abcde itself. Specifically, the
contributions that took place after 2010 are missing from
/usr/share/doc/abcde/copyright. As these contributions may have an
effect on the concrete license terms, this is a bug.

2) The header lines of /usr/bin/abcde state Copyright for this work
is to expire January 1, 2010, after which it shall be public domain.
However, the same header lines also contain Copyright (c) stanzas
with dates later than 2010. This is a discrepancy.

Please resolve the discrepancy by asking the two debian developers
who made contributions after 2010 what their intentions were, and
clarify the license by either removing the public domain clause or
by removing the GPL2/Artistic clause.

Bug#697463: zynjacku: lv2rack crashes with some plugins

2013-01-05 Thread 0 1

Package: zynjacku
Version: 6-4

Program is quite unstable, adding a few plugins, I get just after some
loads:

The program 'lv2rack' received an X Window System error.

This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 171731 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)

I could investigate further but I suppose the program deserves some
update, though...
... git repo isn't very informative about their activity:
http://repo.or.cz/w/zynjacku.git/shortlog

And it seems like development may have ceased.

Has anyone more infos about status/alternatives ?

  not automatically re-enabled.

I agree that this is a bug.

  I suggest that

   [ -z $2 ]

be removed, as a2enmod perl || true should be called
  in any case.

But I don't agree with this fix, as it will cause upgrades to always
enable the module, even if was previously disabled by the system
administrator. I don't see OTTOMH what the correct fix is, although I
expect that it will be easily discovered by looking at similar postinst
 scripts.

Maybe something like what Andreas proposed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=688435#27

Bug#697404: ITP: libnxt -- Simple command-line tool for Lego NXT

2013-01-05 Thread Slavko
Hi,

Dňa Sat, 05 Jan 2013 04:45:58 -0800 shawnland...@gmail.com napísal:

The package provides two binary files:

  * fwexec to upload image file to NXT brick and then execute it
  * fwflash to flash firmware image to NXT brick

Are you sure no other programs out there use these binary names in
the path? These seem far too general for a program that only flashes
 NXT bricks

In general, i am not sure about nothing, but the apt-file search
returns nothing else (on the testing) for the fwexec, nor for fwflash.

Bug#544479: abcde option -P is also affected

2013-01-05 Thread Lutz Kohl
In abcde, version 2.5.3-1, I provoked this bug using only command
line options (i.e. no modifications to any config files).

For example, the command
  abcde -o mp3 -P -q low
floods the terminal with binary data.

Bug#697464: mount/umount leak information about existence of folders

2013-01-05 Thread Jann Horn
Package: mount
Version: 2.20.1-5.3
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

mount discloses information about folders not accessible for a user:

$ ls -ld /root/.ssh
ls: cannot access /root/.ssh: Permission denied
$ ls -ld /root/.foo
ls: cannot access /root/.foo: Permission denied

First variant:

$ mount --guess-fstype /root/.ssh/../../dev/sda1
ext4
$ mount --guess-fstype /root/.foo/../../dev/sda1
unknown

Second one:

$ mount /root/.ssh/../../dev/cdrom
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0
$ mount /root/.foo/../../dev/cdrom
mount: can't find /root/.foo/../../dev/cdrom in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

These issues were, as far as I can see, fixed in the following upstream commits:
 - 0377ef91270d06592a0d4dd009c29e7b1ff9c9b8
 - 33c5fd0c5a774458470c86f9d318d8c48a9c9ccb
 - 5ebbc3865d1e53ef42e5f121c41faab23dd59075
 - cc8cc8f32c863f3ae6a8a88e97b47bcd6a21825f

However, the last two commits might have to be rewritten - I think that debian
uses
mount-deprecated and those commits are for the new mount.

Bug#697463: zynjacku: lv2rack crashes with some plugins

2013-01-05 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Hi 0 1,

Quoting 0 1 (2013-01-05 16:43:14)
Program is quite unstable, adding a few plugins, I get just after some
 loads:

The program 'lv2rack' received an X Window System error.

This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 171731 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
 function.)

Please provide more context - i.e. which plugins it was that you loaded.

I could investigate further but I suppose the program deserves some
 update, though...

Why?

... git repo isn't very informative about their activity:
 http://repo.or.cz/w/zynjacku.git/shortlog

Yeah, looks like that git is empty. Irrelevant for this bug, though.

And it seems like development may have ceased.

Again: irrelevant for this bug.

Has anyone more infos about status/alternatives ?

For the CALF plugins specifically you can use calfjackhost.

It looks like i made a mistake.
When xkl_engine_is_group_per_toplevel_window is true it means the setting

with made me think global.

Maybe this should be documented, that per_toplevel_window means per_app ?

Anyway, the patch is more like this now :

!new_win_transparent) {

I can't understand what is the main point.

Do you think connect to github makes some kind of license problem?

Not a license problem, but a tool that only works in concert with a
non-free service arguably belongs in contrib, not main.

Even if acceptable in main, my point is that the Debian user experience
would be improved by enhancing the tool to not rely on github service by
default, only optionally.

I can understand how such independence from Github my very well not be
an issue for (direct) Github users - but in that regard Debian users and
Github users are not the same.

Looking at a packet capture I see initial handshake SYN ACK packets

ACK, and keeps sending the SYN ACK in reply to the seq. 0 SYN while I
 send HTTP GET retransmissions.

I've attached the packet capture, though I'm not sure if that's the
preferred method with the Debian email-based bugtracker. Please note
the first packet is superfluous and caused by me killing a hung wget
(Note the source port numbers). It does, however, show that my TCP
stack thinks it has initiated and tries to close the connection.

This appears to be tarpit behavior. The TCPtraceroute leads me to
believe the tarpit is on the GATech side, not the RackSpace side. Do
 you agree?

Package: apache2.2-common

Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 7.2

Installation fails like this:

Setting up apache2.2-common (2.2.22-12) ...
sh: 1: .: Can't open /etc/apache2/envvars
Could not read /etc/apache2/envvars
dpkg: error processing apache2.2-common (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Seems that error comes from a2ensite call, so I suspect the cause might
be some dependency of that script has not yet been configured.

Perhaps apache2.2-common must pre-depend (not depend) on perl, to ensure
perl is fully configured before used.

The installation was done using multistrap which postpones more postinst
scripts than debootstrap and debian-installer.
