Bug#729787: Does not remove everything on purge

One last consideration would be if /var/spool/dspam could be on a

if that's possible, but my guess is that most people would use either
the pgsql or mysql drivers if they want to share the data between
 different dspam instances.

I am not sure to follow you. Do you suggest not to remove this directory if
 it
 is on NFS?

That was just another thing that came to my mind after I had written the
rest of my reasoning. The idea is that iff /var/spool/dspam is shared
between several instances of dspam (ie. in a cluster setup), then it
should not be removed by just purging one of these instances. But I'm
not sure if it's even technically possibly to share /var/spool/dspam and
doubt that it's a common real life scenario. If you think that this is a
scenario the package should care about, a debconf question similar to
mysql is probably the easiest way to implement a safeguard.

No messages (except for the systemd-fsck messages) are shown during
startup. After startup, /proc/cmdline shows that systemd.show_status=1 was
set, together with quiet. The systemd.show_status=1 should be necessary
when quiet is also specified but does not seem to have any effect.

quiet implies systemd.show_status=0 (read the systemd man page) and you
passed systemd.show_status=1, so those two options conflict.

On my fedora system here the man page says that adding quiet merely
changes the default value of systemd.show_status. If it is explicitly set,
the value should be honoured.

   systemd.show_status=
Takes a boolean argument. If true shows terse service status
updates on the console during bootup. Defaults to true, unless quiet is
passed as kernel command line option in which case it defaults
to false.

Adding quiet _and_ systemd.show_status=1 works as expected on my Fedora
19, but not on Debian.

On Fedora it shows the sytemd messages but not the kernel messages (due to
the quiet). On Debian it shows nothing (except for the systemd-fsck ones).

Bug#729839: network-manager: forgets previously connected network upon sleep/reboot

2013-11-18 Thread Nicola Manini
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.8.0-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I have multiple configurations for both wireless
and wired interfaces: since upgrading to jessie, every time my pc reboots
or wakes up from sleep it has forgotten which one of them was the last
connected network, and tries to connect a random (usually incorrect) one.
The user has then to select the proper connection manually. Otherwise the
computer would usually remain disconnected from the net.

This is a regression compared to the wheezy version 0.9.4.1-5.

I think this is unrelated to
#632850 (now the ethernet adapter is recognized correctly, just a wrong
 configuration is applied to it)
#692004 (different/opposite behavior)

The maintainer may wish to raise the severity, as in certain cases this may
lead to data loss, e.g. on a computer whose display/graphic card fails.
With the previous correct behavior, user could have her computer connect
automatically to the last used wireless or wired network and access her
data through the net. The current behavior would instead leave the machine
disconnected and data unretriavable (without physically removing pieces of
hardware such as the HD).

Thank you in advance for fixing!
All the best,
Nick

Not sure if that helps, but there is now tcplay, a new truecrypt

supposed to be fully compatible with truecrypt, and so far I heard [2]
that it is pretty stable. See the archlinux wiki page [3] for the
manual. Maybe you could consider packaging this one instead?

I've prepared an NMU for tunnelx (versioned as 20110801-5.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
 should delay it longer.

Cheers. I did that ages ago, but looks like I got bogged down in
updating to a newer release and never actually uploaded the fix. Sorry

Bug#729842: smartmontools not redistributable becaise of lack of source code

2013-11-18 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: smartmontools
Version: 5.42+svn3561-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

smartmontools supposedly is licensed under the GPL version two, however,
to redistribute it, one has to provide the preferred form of the sources.

Smartmontools contains at least one file that is the result of compiler
output and thus not the preferred form for modifications without
delivering the source file:

   os_solaris_ata.s

This code is the assembly output of a compiled C source file
(solaris-ata-in.c) that isn't part of the distribution (it contains
comments explaining on why this isn't so - it's a deliberate attempt at
obfuscation).

I think to make it compliant with the license for debian, that file
should either be removed, or the source file should be made part of the
distribution.

filesystems which are bigger than 16TB. The value wrapps around. This
is by RFC 2790, where hrStorageSize must be a 32bit value.

This is also reported on Red Hat bugzilla at [1].

 [1] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=654384

Upstream has commited a change[2] for this issue, which Red Hat has
backported for their net-snmp.

 [2]
http://net-snmp.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/net-snmp?view=revisionrevision=19941

If you fix this in unstable, could you also consider backporting a fix
to wheezy trough a stable-proposed-updates?

Bug#729844: live-build: UEFI boot support

2013-11-18 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0.5-1
Severity: wishlist

I would like to be able to boot live images using UEFI instead of the
traditional BIOS. I know that syslinux 6 somehow supports EFI boot but
the documentation is rather short and I'm not sure what this involves.

I'd like to help make this happen and if someone can provide some guidance
it might happen quickly. If I have to discover everything by myself, it
might take some time.

I just found some introductory document that might be useful:
http://www.rodsbooks.com/efi-bootloaders/index.html

Cheers,
 Raphaël.

Bug#729801: linux-image-3.10-3-amd64: kernel module i2c-hid does not exist

2013-11-18 Thread Bjørn Mork
Ben Hutchings b...@decadent.org.uk writes:

Can I compile the module by my own or can it be
 integrated into Debian?

You might be able to compile the module but I can't provide simple
 instructions for this.

Since this is a simple driver with few dependencies, it seems to be as
simple as

 1) get a recent kernel source with the driver you want. Mainline is
fine, but you are safer if you stick with a stable release matching
the Debian kernel you want to build it for.

 2) Install Debian kernel headers:
  apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`

 3) build the module:
  cd /where/you/put/the/kernelsrc
  make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build SUBDIRS=`pwd`/drivers/hid/i2c-hid
CONFIG_I2C_HID=m

 4) optionally copy the resulting module to /lib/modules
  mkdir -p /lib/modules/`uname -r`/extra
  cp drivers/hid/i2c-hid/i2c-hid.ko /lib/modules/`uname -r`/extra/
  depmod -a

 5) load it manually, or reboot to have it autoloaded if you've got the
ACPI device

I will enable this for Linux 3.12.

Which of course is much better. But the above should work until this is
available.

Bug#729844: live-build: UEFI boot support

thanks

On 11/18/2013 10:19 AM, Raphaël Hertzog wrote:

it needs finalized debianization of syslinux 6 first, which will have to
go through NEW (again; after passing NEW for years it was now rejected
because of its embedded gpxe that has not/never been in
debian/copyright. as that is a major task to go through 800 files
manually, i have no ETA for this). after that, support for it can be
added in live-build which is trivial.

Bug#729846: gnome-session: No background/wallpaper after upgrade

2013-11-18 Thread shirish शिरीष
Package: gnome-session
Version: 3.8.4-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I upgraded to gnome 3.8 today. I went to an xfce-session for the upgrade.

After the upgrade, stopped gdm and started the gdm service so logind
asks my login credentials.

Shared my credentials and logged in to GNOME-flashback.

After logging in, see no wallpaper/background in GNOME-flashback.

I changed the wallpaper/background assuming maybe it lost my previous
one. Still after choosing a new wallpaper and selecting it as default,
no change. The wallpaper is a grey color thing.

I also used gnome-tweak-tool to see if that helps and gave the URI of
the background but still no change.

Please lemme know if any more info. is needed.

Bug#729848: kscreensaver: Unlock-session window keeps a typed but forgotten password forever

2013-11-18 Thread r.ductor
Package: kscreensaver
Version: 4:4.10.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

It seeems to me that the unlock-session window keeps
a typed but forgotten (i.e. not entered with ENTER)
password forever, if I'm right this is a security breach
cheers

Steps to Reproduce:
1. lock a KDE session
(or wait enough idle time if automatic lock is on).
(I have also a screen saver enabled, but this should be irrelevant)
2. write the user-password in the unlock form, but DO NOT click ENTER
(e.g. because something distracted you);
3. wait some time (e.g. exit the room to take a coffee)
3. come back to the unlock and the password is still typed in the form
(you see the black dots), an ENTER is enough to enter the session.
(Security breach: somebody evil arrives and just clicking
ENTER enters your account ...)

Expected Results:
The password form of the unlock-session window
must be cleared after, say,
1 minute from when the last character is entered.
(That was the behavior say one year ago.)

For that case, more information is needed.

Bug#728361: lightdm, xfce4: No working restart/shutdown buttons

2013-11-18 Thread Jos van Wolput
Hi,

On my system, Debian/Sid using systemd and xfce4, I have solved the issue
of no
working lightdm and xfce4 buttons.

As I already mentioned in Message #203, the xfce4 issue is fixed by
upgrading policykit-1 to version 0.112-2 (experimental).

The issue of the disappeared lightdm buttons is fixed by installing some
rules in
/etc/polkit-1/rules.d, enabling shutdown/restart/suspend/hibernate,
see the attached file.

Dear Maintainer,

stop working with the following error:

 from django.conf.urls.defaults import *

As

which isn't released in a new version, yet.
Is a backport of the fix possible? Or depend on python-django 1.6?

Thank you very much,
Bonbadil.

Ah! Sorry I missed that part of your email.
I suggested listing the known popcon instances on a wiki page,
I think it would help.

Send them to me after deanonymization, and I see to decrypt them.

hm... they are received through the cgi and forwarded to the mailbox.

All of the popcon load is encrypted so I can't deanonymize (not
even sure back to what?) the content since it is encrypted. I am sorry
if I am missing the point here.

The encrypted content is anonymized, but not the mail headers,

Bug#729857: pcp: prompting due to modified conffiles which were not modified by the user

2013-11-18 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: pcp
Version: 3.8.8
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts
upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then
prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails.
But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt
shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile
at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3,
which says [These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary
questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good
citizens.

http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring
out how to do this properly.

In http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

Bug#729849: xterm: Meta key ≠ Alt key

2013-11-18 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Hi,

this is not a bug. The key labelled Alt is the Meta key, which
people use to write Umlauts and similar things:

http://fsinfo.noone.org/~abe/typing-8bit.html

xterm is a Unix terminal emulator. Unix terminals do not have
an Alt key, that is a PC/Windows® thing.

Applications such as irssi, that incorrectly say to use, for
example, Alt-1 to do an action, should instead document that,
correctly, Esc+1 is the way to invoke that action. So, for
your GNU nano example, it’s Esc+w.

 kaffeine wont detect tuner card
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
 Watching TV

kaffeine in Debian/testing does not detect my TV tuner card. It works fine
 with
 me-tv thou.

I use an 'ASUS My Cinema-U3100Mini Plus V2' USB TV tuner card.

Attached to this bugreport a OGG Vorbis screencast which is showing the error.

In the video you can see an error about kaffeine not being able to open the
video device, that might be that kaffeine was configured in the past as
frontend0, and now the video device was assigned a frontend1 or something like
that.

This might be simply a matter of reconfiguring the video device on the
Television-Configure Television menu, Device 1 tab in kaffeine.

If you consider that kaffeine should find the device either way, please,
submit the patch upstream and once you have the upstream bug url send a
message to cont...@bugs.debian.org with:

Apparently it is supposed to switch between applications rather than windows,

one can't switch between applications using the keyboard without hand-tunig
stuff deep down dconf-editor. Though, Alt² (AltAbove_Tab) to stwicth
between same application windows do work.

To fix this, set the dconf key org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybingins.switch-windows
to a list of keybidings, like ['AltTab'].

This can also be set in gnome-control-center, in Navigation, by setting Alt+TAB
for Switch Applications.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

the bug you reported is a KDE bug. Please report it via
Help - Report bug... menu item of the respective application

to report a new bug.

Debian Qt/KDE maintainers do not have resources to deal with

your bug will be solved if you do not report it to KDE developers
directly (unless it is/has been reported by somebody else).

Whenever you open a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system, or

Extraction does work but without the directory structure !

 Correctly extract the archive !

As a workaround, after the first directory selection (and flat extraction),
 the
history ca be used to extract archive correctly !

Please take care of it, this is an old bug from the 4.10 or before !

I don't see that behavior. Please note that there is a checkbox in the
extraction window that says: Preserve paths when extracting

If that's not checked ark won't preserve the directory structure.

Hi Bill.

| [258723] Medium CVE-2013-6629: Read of uninitialized memory in libjpeg and

The related Google bug is closed, but after some digging I found this
posting:
http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/123989/IJG-jpeg6b-libjpeg-turbo-Uninitialized-Memory.html

I don't think this warrants a DSA, but we could still fix this up in a point

Bug#729296: Please binNMU kde-style packages against libkdecorations4abi2

suspect a lot of the unknown is accounted for by packages which
depend on parts of kde-workspace that haven't changed their package

I'll get the binNMUs scheduled shortly.

By #729216, digikam also needs to be rebuilt, it's currently built against
libmarblewidget15, which is coinstallable with libmarblewidget16, but,
marble-plugins (which both libmarblewidget packages recommend) include the
plugins in a library major dependant directory, so libmarblewidget15 can't
access them. This reduces the functionality provided by libmarblewidget
dependant packages, but I shouldn't make them unusable.

This may be affecting calligra's calligra-reports-map-element and

Hi,

according to the download page

the library is at version 5.2. It also seems that the
debian/get-orig-source script needs to be adapted since the software is
now maintained in Git

(while the get-orig-source script tries to fetch from CVS).

Kind regards

 Hi Bill.
I noticed the following in the recent Google Chrome release announcement:

The related Google bug is closed, but after some digging I found this
 posting:
 http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/123989/IJG-jpeg6b-libjpeg-turbo-Uninitialized-Memory.html

I don't think this warrants a DSA, but we could still fix this up in a point

Thanks Moritz,
I also need to fix libjpeg6b and libjpeg8 in sid and testing.

Hi,

please keep the bug report in CC.

did you perform an upgrade from version 1.0.22-7.4 in wheezy? What was
the version of libsane:i386 before you purged it?

Looking at the dpkg output, it appears to me that libsane:amd64 was
upgraded but libsane:i386 wasn't.

Can you reproduce the dpkg error message if you upgrade from wheezy and
upgrade both packages, libsane:i386 and libsane:amd64?

Before, I was on wheezy; I upgraded on the 12th; from this, you might
get the versions.

Looking at the dpkg output, it appears to me that libsane:amd64 was
 upgraded but libsane:i386 wasn't.

That's complicated to tell, and I can't confirm or refute it.

I had got xine to run with wheezy, then installed avidemux from
multimedia, which broke my xine, I deinstalled avidemux, xine
still broken, I found out that the graphics card of my 2 month
old computer wasn't yet supported by the i915 driver, and I upgraded
to jessie. During the upgrade lots of things were installed, and
some conflicted, and so on.

Afterwards I still had to remove some X packages and reinstall them
to get xine working again. And in the process, I probably also decided
that I don't need libsane any more (I've got a new printer with a
scanner that generates PDF). I removed it, and that broke the cups
printer driver. Which I needed today to print something.

A real-life story ... ;-)

Can you reproduce the dpkg error message if you upgrade from wheezy and
upgrade both packages, libsane:i386 and libsane:amd64?

Unfortunately I don't know that, and I can't downgrade this computer
again.

Claus

Bug#729813: jessie/testing pam_unix2 (2.6-1) module is compiled without blowfish support

2013-11-18 Thread Michael Ablassmeier
hi there,

i think this happens because of:

 checking for xcrypt_gensalt_r... no

checking the source reads:

#if defined(HAVE_XCRYPT_GENSALT_R)
[ do stuff ]
#else
  __write_message (pamh, flags, PAM_ERROR_MSG,
   _(No support for blowfish included));

I guess md5 is broken aswell, see this bugreport against the ubuntu
package:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libpam-unix2/+bug/372406

looking at the web it seems like the original source of the package at suse is
not available anymore, it may also be unmaintained. I wasnt able to find any
recent repositories.

Should however should be fixable using

 xcrypt_gensalt_rn

instead of the xcrypt_gensalt_r.

Bug#729876: aghermann: FTBFS on ia64, powerpc, s390x, sparc, ppc64, sh4: configure: error: g++ = 4.7 is required

2013-11-18 Thread Hiroyuki Yamamoto
Source: aghermann
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS by unsatisfiable build-dependency

aghermann cannot be built on ia64, powerpc, s390x, sparc, ppc64, sh4,
which use gcc-4.6 designated by gcc-defaults_1.123,
so, maybe on alpha, too.

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=aghermannsuite=sid
http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/package.php?p=aghermannsuite=sid

configure: error: g++ = 4.7 is required to build aghermann as we must use
-std=c++11 features your compiler doesn't seem to support
checking whether g++ has all required c++11 features... no

On powerpcspe, its sbuild may not be maintained as clean-build environment,
and all of g++-4.6, g++-4.7, g++-4.8 are installed, so building succeeded.

Regards,

Bug#725435: Debian Bug 725435

2013-11-18 Thread Markus Koschany
On 18.11.2013 14:36, Claus Fischer wrote:

Unfortunately I don't know that, and I can't downgrade this computer
 again.

Ok. I believe you didn't upgrade both packages. The file
/etc/sane.d/gt68xx.conf slightly differs in older version of libsane.
Since you had installed the i386 and amd64 version of libsane in
parallel, dpkg detected the change on upgrade and aborted the process.
Normally both packages must share the exact same config file.

So it appears you only performed a partial upgrade, hence the error
message. It would be a valid bug, if the upgrade failed even when you
upgraded libsane:i386 and libsane:amd64 but I can't see that at the
moment. You can always reinstall the packages, that should ultimately
fix the error.

Markus

Bug#729097: enabled by default encryption breaks multi-server submission unless they share the same keyo

2013-11-18 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko

On Mon, 18 Nov 2013, Bill Allombert wrote:
indeed -- a good idea! Should I try to elaborate such a patch or you
are on top of it?

Do you need debconf preseeding support ?

ATM not -- we just 'patch' (yes yes -- cruel)
/etc/popularity-contest.conf to add our submission server to the
  SUBMITURLS variable.

Well, then you can as well patch it to change KEYRING and POPCONKEY.
You can also patch cron.daily if it is need.

 I am considering simply replacing
   $GPG --batch --no-options --no-default-keyring --trust-model=always \
--homedir $GPGHOME --keyring $KEYRING --quiet \
--armor -o $POPCONGPG -r $POPCONKEY --encrypt $POPCON
 by
   $GPG --batch --no-options --no-default-keyring --trust-model=always \
--homedir $GPGHOME --keyring $KEYRING --quiet \
--armor -o $POPCONGPG -r $POPCONKEY --encrypt $POPCON

 (i.e. removing the )

So you will be able to do
 KEYRING=/usr/share/popularity-contest/debian-popcon.gpg --keyring
 neurodebian-popcon.gpg
 POPCONKEY=6672B9765BDF38A3 -r D41D8CD98F00B204E

Thanks for checking on this! the patching is done at the
neurodebian-popularity-contest postinst time

https://github.com/neurodebian/neurodebian/blob/5dd6c9f932a2b07412488d62dad2b700054d0903/debian/neurodebian-popularity-contest.postinst

so checking/patching also a cron file although possible, might be a bit too
much of a hack... could this change be done upstream in stock
popularity-contest in Debian? Then I will similarly patch
/etc/popularity-contest.conf for the variables.

Looking forward though -- imho it would be nice if the
/etc/popularity-contest.conf had at the end smth like

if [ -d /etc/popularity-contest.d ]; then
  for i in /etc/popularity-contest.d/*.conf; do
if [ -r $i ]; then
  . $i
fi
  done
  unset i
fi

so we could avoid patching at all and just provide
/etc/popularity-contest.d/neurodebian.conf which would extend the necessary
variables?

 Better suggestions ?

 Cheers,

Hi, the attached patch can update symbol table of libbt0,
so it can be built on mips64el.

I hope this patch is created using pkg-kde-tools (pkgkde-symbolshelper)
because we are using pkg-kde-tools for this and using any other format
 will break the building.
I am not clear about how to use pkgkde-symbolshelper, it is write by hand.
The build result is here, can you help to figure it?
While, there is no change but the arch table, I don't think that there will be
 some wrong.

Can you just pass me the build log for mipsel archs? I will generate
batchpatch using pkg-kde-tools. And for your information here is some
small guide about using pkg-kde-tools [1]

[1] http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/journal/2012-01/008.html

And every time I update this package or any of my library package just
pass me the build logs of mips* archs and I will take care to update
symbols file.

Thanks for bringing this up :-)

Humm.. so today smuxi manages to connect. When it doesn't, it doesn't
at least on oftc and freenode.

I do note that between this report and the previous, I did some
upgrades, in particular the kernel to 3.11-2. I will reboot and check
if this causes the bug to reappear.

Was it always like this or has it worked before?

I've used smuxi for a while now, but it broke a few weeks ago (I'm not
a very heavy user of irc). I thought it possibly was user error, so on
this new laptop I got a couple of weeks ago I installed it and
reproduced the problem. That's when I submitted this bug report. FWIW,
the previous laptop was also a debian unstable amd64.

Just a wild guess, please run the following command and show me the output
 of it:
 grep SigBlk /proc/self/status

The output should look like this:
 meebey@redhorse:~$ grep SigBlk /proc/self/status
 SigBlk:

The connection seems to timeout for some reason... After reading the debug
log it looks like the signalling of the AutoResetEvent between the socket
queue and queue reader is not working. So this really looks like it is
related to the signal block mask mentioned above. So if you run the
proprietary nvidia driver please tell me the version, as I have seen reports
related to it (see #728743 and #499569).

I use the intel driver.

 Hi,

Do you intend to maintain this package under the umbrella of pkg-ime team?

Sure I will be happy to maintain it as part of pkg-ime team. Is there
any general guidelines for pkg-ime team? Also note that I use CDBS
packaging :-) (I want to mention it before hand)

Cheers,

control: reassign -1 debian-installer

Hi,

On Montag, 18. November 2013, Rainer König wrote:
Netinstall CD boots until the point where it needs to load the kernel
modules for the NICs in the system. Then a message Kernel modules
missing is displayed and there is no way to get the network cards
working. The sad end of a network install attempt.

I can confirm this for sid dailies as well

Here is a general guideline for pkg-ime team:
https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/IMEPackagingTeam

I personally prefer using dh7 style, but have no objection if you feel
better with cdbs.

Thanks,

 Dear Maintainer,

currently in Debian/testing munin does not show graphs for the squid3 package.

Maybe it works for the old squid package.

Works fine for me with squid3 3.3.4-1 and munin-node 2.0.16-2 for
years. Some more debugging information would be useful.

I did not help.

ls -l on /sys shows that the permissions are dr-xr-xr-x

I suppose that is why the mkdir fails. I get the same error if I try to
create /sys/fs/cgroup using mkdir with root.
