Thinking about this: wouldn't it be simpler (and more consistent with
the sysv scripts) if we simply add a libvirt alias)?

Bug#735255: samba-common-bin: net ads join needs /var/lib/samba/private

2014-01-13 Thread Paul Wise
Package: samba-common-bin
Version: 2:4.0.13+dfsg-1
Severity: wishlist

After I patched samba to fix #732604 (winbind dep on samba) I found out
that net ads join no longer works because it operates secrets.tdb
from /var/lib/samba/private which is only in the samba, samba4 packages.
I propose to add /var/lib/samba/private to samba-common-bin too so that
'net ads join' can create secrets.tdb in /var/lib/samba/private.

Bug#735254: flash-kernel: QNAP TS-212 doesn't boot with 3.12-1-kirkwood and flash-kernel 3.12

2014-01-13 Thread Ruben Silveira
Package: flash-kernel
Version: 3.12
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

Description and steps to reproduce:
- QNAP TS-212 (cpuinfo = 'QNAP TS-119/TS-219') with 3.11-2-kirkwood and
flash-kernel 3.12;
- Installed 3.12-1-kirkwood (update-initramfs and flash-kernel executed
automatically and normally);
- Rebooted;
- System not up;
- Connected serial console;
- Rebooted;
- System hangs just after kernel being (successfully) loaded by U-Boot, with no
output whatsoever.

I was able to restore an old backup (flash and rootfs), repeat the whole
process and get to the same exact result.

I suppose this has to do with DT - Device Tree and could be (loosely) related
to bugs #731345 and #734769.

The solution appears to be the appendage of DTB to the kernel, but I have
little to no knowledge in patching flash-kernel to get to a working solution.

Regards,
Ruben

Thanks. If we can get it working smoothly with ‘command-not-found’, great,
but I'm not restricting this bug to only be solved using that hammer. I'm
also open to other solutions which will hook into some widely-deployed
convention on Debian machines — though I don't yet know what that would be.

guess it's related to this snippet from README:

DEVELOPERS

  This module uses some internals from NSS. This is normally a big no-no
but there was no other way to get around it. As such a private copy of
some of the NSS include files can be found in the mozilla
subdirectory. If you use a version of NSS other than 3.9.3 then you
should replace the files in this directory with appropriate files from
whatever version you are using.

and mozilla/README:

We need some private header files from NSS in order to build the module.
Rather than checking them out at build time it is easier to include them
here. We just need to be careful and watch for API changes.

Fedora is the upstream, I could ask why it's like this.

can this be done with dynamic linking instead? if you use a static
library, than any bugs found in nssb will mean we need to update nss and
*then* rebuild libapache2-mod-rev. this seems clumsier than just
needing to update nss itself.

Hi!

  I need these two files in the -dev package because libapache2-mod-rev

For an apache module called mod_rev.so, configure.in has:

if ! test -e "$nss_lib_dir"/libnssb.a
then
  AC_MSG_ERROR([NSS is installed but the PKCS11 development package is
missing. Need libnssb.a])
fi

preliminary packaging is in git if you would like to have a look:

Bug#734746: Fwd: Flite CVE question you asked.

2014-01-13 Thread Peter Drysdale
In response to Paul's request for someone with more familiarity with flite
code base regarding
whether it is possible to access the patched function from a11y programs.

I have some knowledge of flite as I keep my own fork which mixes flite and
festival etc.
(It is not a replacement for flite or festival).

I have checked the patch which involves play_wave_from socket(). This
function can also be called
indirectly via auserver_process_client() and auserver() functions.

Within flite, it was intended to be called via a /testsuite binary which
Debian does not build.

The main flite binary packages does not call any of these functions.

Paul has kindly provided a reverse depends of libflite1 and its dev package.

paul@wollumbin ~ $ reverse-depends libflite1
Reverse-Depends
===
* asterisk-flite
* brltty-flite
* eflite
* flite
* flite1-dev
* gnustep-gui-runtime
* gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
* pd-flite
* speech-dispatcher
paul@wollumbin ~ $ reverse-depends -b flite1-dev
Reverse-Build-Depends
=
* basic256
* brltty
* eflite
* gnustep-gui
* pd-flite
* speech-dispatcher

I have undertood and checked the source code of asterisk-flite,
brltty-flite, eflite, gnustep-gui, both
gstreamer plugins (0.1 and 1.0+) , pd-flite, speech-dispatcher and basic256
in relation to interfacing
with flite libraries.
In none of these cases do these codes call (whether directly or indirectly)
the insecure functions.

Essentially you would have to deliberately link your own code to these
functions in libflite1 to get
access to the insecure code.

I hope this assists you in your backporting security decision.

Please ask if you have any other questions.

best regards,
Peter

Bug#735252: unixodbc-gui-qt: use dh-autoreconf instead of autotools-dev to fix FTBFS on ppc64el

2014-01-13 Thread Logan Rosen
Package: unixodbc-gui-qt
Version: 2.3.0-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu trusty ubuntu-patch

Dear Maintainer,

For the ppc64el architecture in Ubuntu, since this package uses libtool, a full
autoreconf is necessary instead of just config.{sub,guess} updates with
autotools-dev. This is because we need new libtool macros for ppc64el.

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Use dh-autoreconf instead of autotools-dev to fix FTBFS on ppc64el.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#735251: lightdm: user locale tweaks are clobbered by non-default locale

2014-01-13 Thread Olaf Meeuwissen
Package: lightdm
Version: 1.8.5-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have seen #690899, #691446 and #733261 but feel that my issue is not
quite the same. Hence a separate bug report.

I have a few locale tweaks in my ~/.xsessionrc (following comments found
in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/40x11-common_xsessionrc). The relevant bit of my
customizations:

  export LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8
  export LC_MESSAGES=en_GB.UTF-8
  export LANGUAGE=${LC_MESSAGES}

This has been working great for me for several years. After the recent
upgrade of lightdm (from 1.6.3-1) the LANG setting got clobbered to the
first enabled locale, i.c. aa_DJ.UTF-8, whereas the system default is C.

The system default locale and enabled locales have not been changed in
a long time, nor has my .xsessionrc. What might have played a role
was me removing my ~/.dmrc at about the same point as the upgrade as
part of a dot-file cleanup. Changing its Language setting to the same
value as the LANG setting in my ~/.xsessionrc fixed things for me.

I would expect the preselected locale for lightdm's locale selector to
be the system default (or whatever is configured explicitly for that bit
of lightdm functionality), not whichever of the enabled locales is
listed first in /etc/locale.gen. The system default would then become
the user's locale if a user does not have a ~/.dmrc file. Also, I would
expect any tweaks in a user's ~/.xsessionrc to take effect/precedence
and not be clobbered by any locale functionality courtesy of lightdm.

That is to say, I would expect my LANG setting in ~/.xsessionrc to take
precedence over whatever is (or ends up) in ~/.dmrc. If I have nothing
in my ~/.xsessionrc, I expect to end up with what is configured in
/etc/default/locale.

Sorry, I didn't read this carefully enough.

Yes, you should be able to disable TX checksum offload and then see the
kernel-generated checksums in captured packets, and I don't know why
that isn't happening.

In effect, this is bug #677288. It's certainly possible, but this isn't
something I expect to have time to work on any time soon.

I thik most commands are automatically extracted, but packages can install
their own overrides in their postinst scripts.

http://tinyurl.com/n8k7kt9

That's the code that I think does the command extraction on build. I wasn't
able to find much documentation on exactly how this works and don't have time
right now to study the code, but I think that's the ticket. I'm Cc'ing

It turns out that this works if the --no-use-agent switch is used.

Hi,

when copiyng files to pen drive, the process hangs, and then the kernel issues

It happened more than once. I executed sync in parallel with the copy process.

Bug#735248: multiarch-python-include-dirs.diff has bad side-effects

2014-01-13 Thread Dominique Belhachemi
Package: cmake
Version: 2.8.12.1-1.1

Please drop patch:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/cmake.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches/multiarch-python-include-dirs.diff;hb=master

With the patch, other cmake based projects fail to build whenever
PYTHON_INCLUDE_DIR is used to point to a non-system wide python
version.

>From upstream bug:
http://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=14156

Dmitrijs Ledkovs (Debian): "It has proven too much work to have
pyconfig.h in an multiarch location. Therefore, pyconfig.h was
re-introduced in an non-multiarch location. Instead it is a
compatibility header that using compiler macros includes the correct
pyconfig.h from a multiarch location. This patch should be dropped, as
it's no longer needed."

Bug#720092: Please package ocl

2014-01-13 Thread Nobuhiro Iwamatsu
Hi,

I made sure that there is implementation of DFSG-free of OpenCL by Mesa 10.
Mesa 10 is not installed in to Debian, this is no problem.
And there are pocl as implementation DFSG-free using ocl-icd.
This is packaging by ocl-icd maintainer.
I will enable ocl library, and upload soon.

Thanks for your help and comment!

Best regards,
  Nobuhiro

 I support the ocl module in opencv is difficult in Debian.
 Because OCL SDK is in non-free section.
 When opencv is dependent on the OCL SDK if, opencv is in contrib section.
 Because I want to distribute opencv in the main section, I will not
 support ocl module.

 Does this work for you?

OK. Looks sound to me. Copyright and packaging seems fine. Autofoo up to date.

A couple of minor points:
You might want to include a watch file for new upstream releases.

Should you do something with the included pyfixbuf-0.1.tar.gz, like drop
it or add a python package?. It's mostly wasting 400K of space. I guess
currently you have a pristine upstream tarball - it just happens to have
another dollop of software somewhat unhelpfully included, and not in a
format conducive to bulding from it. I guess that's fair enough.

Builds OK in stable, and unstable clean chroot. So unless you want to do
the watch file first, I'll upload.

I second that.
Alternatively, it can be done the following way

2014-01-13 Thread Jan Binder
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.11.3-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

okular is built with libpoppler 0.18.4, as verified with ldd.

This makes saving annotations in PDFs impossible, even though it is implemented
in this version of okular.
There is a packaged version od lipoppler 0.22.5-3, where this would most
probably work.

Even better would be a packaged libpoppler 0.24 or 0.25 but that is not the
point of this bug report
and I would be happy with 0.22.5

Yes, that's a serious bug.

Even if this file had source, it is (I assume) a bundled third-party
library. That violates Debian Policy §4.13.

The package should not install that library at all, and instead should
“Depends: libjs-jquery” (at an appropriate version, if necessary).

If the package doesn't work with a latest jQuery (or at least the latest in
Debian), that is a separate bug that should be reported upstream and fixed.

IIRC, when kfreebsd became a release goal for squeeze, there was some
policy that certain fixes were allowed to be handled as RC bugs,
especially during the freeze. That allowed porters to potentially get
something NMUd or unblocked if it was important to getting things
working on that system.

Could each proposed/approved init system for jessie be handled like
this, generally? The respective teams would contribute the necessary
work to make sure things work with that system. Maintainers would need
to accommodate reasonable changes (mostly adding native init scripts) if
they haven't already.

That to me sounds enough like 'supporting' an init system. After
committing to such goals, once the work really gets underway, any
specific disagreements between teams over how to do things or what's
reasonable, could be handled separately as they arise, and escalated to
the ctte where necessary?

It wouldn't matter to me which is ultimately chosen as the default in
that case, if I only knew I wouldn't be wasting my time working on a
particular init system.

Bug#704242: Driver for PL-2303 HX not working

2014-01-13 Thread Karsten Malcher

Hello together,

i will close this bug at Debian now.

After the last update this error seems to disappear in Debian stable.
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/wheezy/ChangeLog
USB: pl2303: fix device initialisation at open

The source for this patch can be found here:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/stable/msg30311.html
It's possible that this will not fix the bug under all circumstances depending
on the application.

Summary:
==

I did need some time to realize that this bug will occur only with PL2303HX
chips that are China clones.
In fact this type of chips run out of production at Profilic.
http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?pcid=41&showlevel=0017-0037-0041
Only the PL2303HXD can be buyed as original, so any new PL2303HX is a China
clone.

I have been contacted by Frank Schäfer and so we tested some of his driver
improvements in combination with newer kernels.
Up to now this could not be backported to kernel 3.2.x, but i could test a kernel 3.12.6 on Debian wheezy and the
PL2303HX is running fine.

There are really much products with this clone chips out there, so some further improvements of the driver would be
really helpful.
I will make further tests together with Frank and hope that this improvements will find a place into the next kernel
versions starting with Debian jessie and 3.12.6

Best regards
Karsten

Would be necessary to know *when* so to depend on a proper version
of fontconfig?

Or is it just a convenience and we don't care for whether it is provided
by fontconfig or not?

Best

Yes, it looks gone. But it's also just a click on the close button on
the titlebar or an Alt-F4.

Thanks, included in the git master branch. If I make a new release
based on the 2013 sources it will be included, or I switch to 2014
source (if libpng is finally updated).

I attach the patch, too.

I checked and it still applies against the current svn sources in TeX Live.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Bug#735243: git-checkout(1): add a better overview

2014-01-13 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: git-doc
Version: 1:1.8.5.2-2
Severity: minor
Justification: documentation
Tags: upstream

>From #git:

EugeneKay> man git-checkout always makes me cry

The overview at the top of DESCRIPTION says "Update files in the working
tree to match [...]. If no paths are given, 'git checkout' will also
update HEAD [...]". That is a true description, but it is

 (1) incomplete and
 (2) unilluminating.

It would be better to offer some mnemonic about how "git checkout" is
for retrieving file content, in two different cases: starting to work
on a different branch, or retrieving selected files. Then:

 (i) pre-checkout checks that prevent it from clobbering local changes

 (ii) what each mode does, in terms of flow of data
  (git checkout BRANCH --: modifies HEAD, index, and worktree.
 "context switch".

   git checkout BRANCH -- PATHS: modifies index and worktree.
 "copy".

   git checkout -- PATHS:modifies worktree.
 "undo".
  )

 (iii) shortcuts: -b, -B, --orphan

 (iv) SEE ALSO: gitindex(5). The latter would explain its usual
  relationship to the worktree.

The section (i) would address bug#609128.

Bug#735241: gnupg2: gpg2 does not work with --batch --passphrase string

2014-01-13 Thread Andrew Kane
Package: gnupg2
Version: 2.0.22-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Writing a script to sign arbitrary selections, I use zenity to retrieve a
string from the user to be passed to gpg2 as passphrase.
This is because the script needs to be launched from a hotkey in X and gpg's
passphrase dialog does not work in this context.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

In testing the script I ran the following from xfce4-terminal:

gpg -s --batch --no-tty --passphrase [my gpg passphrase]

   * What was the outcome of this action?

the normal passphrase prompt window popped up.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected that gpg should proceed as normal except omitting the passphrase
prompt as one had been provided by --passphrase per the manual.

Bug#712512: Problem remains

2014-01-13 Thread ael
It seems that I was too quick to close the bug. My tests did not include
printing even and odd pages as in this following example.

$ lpr -P HL-1250-usb -o page-set=odd  two_page_postscript_file.ps
 ( remove sheet and place in tray to print other side)
$ lpr -P HL-1250-usb -o page-set=even two_page_postscript_file.ps

The first side is printed correctly. But the next sheet has

JL SET MEDIATYPE=REGULAR
@PCL SET SOURCETRAY=AUTO
 @PCL SET RESOLUTION=600
 @PJL SE
as usual. This typically happens on repeated attempts to print the
second page. Obviously the above PCL commands have lost synchronisation
with the printer. It seems to be an "interjob" problem, since my
previous tests with the current cups-1.6.4-2 of a multipage document
seemed to work, which misled me into temporarily closing this bug.

The same bug shows up when printing in other ways, as for example
printing the odd pages from gv, and then doing the even pages.

/var/log/cups/error_log:-
E [13/Jan/2014:20:42:56 +] [CGI] Unable to scan "@LOCAL"!

/var/log/cups/access_log doesn't seem to include anything useful, just
entries like:
localhost - - [13/Jan/2014:21:01:28 +] "POST /printers/HL-1250-usb
HTTP/1.1" 200 16429 Send-Document successful-ok

The status shown in the browser at http://localhost:631/printers/ is

HL-1250-usb Brother HL-1250 series  usb Brother HL-1250 Foomatic/hl1250
(recommended) Idle - "Sending data to printer."

That Idle - "Sending data to printer" looks odd? Why is it still sending
data when it is 'Idle'? Perhaps that confirms again some sort of
handshake failure between cups and the printer?

# lpinfo -v
network socket
network http
network lpd
network ipp14
network https
network ipp
network ipps
network smb
direct usb://Brother/HL-1250%20series

I will capture the raw PCL and see if I can spot the problem and if not
add it to this bug tomorrow (I hope).

Meanwhile, I have the manufacturer's own (not quite free) PPD.
Where do I put that so cups can see it? /etc/local/cups/ppd/ perhaps?
That should eliminate a problem with the foomatic ppd.

This printer has worked for years with cups. And I see the problem using
different machines (all debian testing) using both the parallel and the
usb ports. I suspect the the problem may have been introduced with the
xml version of the ppd, but that is speculation. When I have captured
the pcl it will presumably indicate what is happening unless the
error about not scanning "@LOCAL" is enough.

Bug#735240: git-tag doc: "git tag" is not just for signed tags

2014-01-13 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: git-man
Version: 1:1.8.5.2-2
Severity: minor
Justification: documentation
Tags: upstream

git-man(1) sayeth:

git-tag - Create, list, delete or verify a tag object signed with GPG

But the 'git tag' command is not only (or even mainly) for working with
signed tags. Probably the DESCRIPTION section needs a rewrite and then
a nicer oneliner would emerge.

Noticed while looking into a report by Leo R. Lundgren on #git:

also, what the heck to people write in annotated tags for version
numbers anyway?
but those should already be in some changelog or release file,
right?
trying it requires me to set up a remote repo somewhere
not the five second quick test
...
i am not entirely sure that lightweight tags are pushed as well
as annotated ones, i wouldnt want to take the chance of making a
tag that might not get pushed
...
a part of me would like the push man page to say that both types
of tags are pushed, but im not sure thats very practical. cnat
have every part of things elaborate on all the others too

Bug#734788: collectd: Too many dependencies

Having one package for each plugin would mean about 100 plugin-*
packages. I don't think that this is user-friendly.

I was already thinking about having a couple of packages for some groups
of plugins. However, I could not come up with any reasonable grouping.
That would have to take functional similarity and dependencies into
account in order to be useful. Getting that right would be complicated
and getting it not quite right would be heavily confusing imho.

I've already discussed this issue a couple of times with different
people. In all cases, the end result was that the current approach is
the best after all.

I've had a couple of thoughts into that direction as well. However, all
ideas I've had so far basically boil down to the same problems I've
already discussed.

The collectd package is meant to be used by people who do not want to
think about how to setup collectd. By default, by using Recommends for
all dependencies, it simply works. However, it still allows to adjust
the setup and, for example, remove stuff that you don't want.

collectd-core is meant to be used by advanced users and as a base for
custom packaging (configuration).

I don't think this is necessary, since you can easily remove any
"dependency" you don't need.

Hi Andreas,

I just tested Gramps 4.0.2, and although it was promised that this had
been fixed, unfortunately it still fails for me.

A simple "gramps -l" to list all family trees also fails when there is
no display.

Apparently there is some work still going on to reorganise the code so
that reports can be run headless, but I may need to reopen a bug
upstream to ensure this specific cron job use case is fixed.

First, when I get a chance I will test the latest upstream master.

Regards,

Ross

and I liked it because it enabled me to quickly fire up taskmanager,

I seem to have a patch that fixes this. It seems a bit intrusive to
me, ignoring all seemingly unknown OPs, not just 'pushmark' and
'null'. However, it seems to make dizzy run.

I haven't seen dizzy before, so I cannot tell if something went wrong.
Perhaps the author (in Cc) can comment? I am eager to upload the
package with this patch if there is no major breakage on the grounds
that a slightly broken package is better than completely unusable one.

Bug#734742: flare: Version 0.19 released

2014-01-13 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Review (maybe some of this is already fixed, I'm reviewing commitdiffs
more than the final files, it's easier for me this way):

1) I think that the "Conflicts" should be a "Breaks, Replaces"

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces

2) debian/flare.install should be called flare-engine.install, the
binary package

3) I don't think that the executable "flare" should be renamed, if
that's the name upstream uses and doesn't cause conflicts. And this
avoid the patch to cmakelists.txt and flare.sh (which would need an
additional manpage, etc).

3.1) Maybe only a binary "flare-game" if you want to make it easier
for users, a shell as it is now but without .sh in the name (I think
that it's recommended not have .sh, .py etc in /usr/bin), and with a
simple manpage will do. I don't know what upstream recommend to
launch the games though.

4) I think that you leave the game data package named "flare", I think
that "flare-game" is more descriptive and follows upstream names, if
there's no reason for the contrary

5) "flare-engine" binary package should recommend (or suggest?)
"flare-game" with ">= 0.19, <= 0.20"; and the same from the game data
to the engine (but with depends instead of just recommends); because
often (at least in the past) game and data were changed to suit each
other every version

6) I think that .xz (and probably with options -9e) should be used for
orig.tar, especially the data... last time that I checked had very
significant reduction compared to gzip

Sorry for the brevity and the direct style, I had a quite hard day at
work but prefered to reply rather than leaving this hanging.

Cheers.

Can you give more concrete information what changed? Is it every
single line of every config or is it only some special part of the
config? What type of devices (vendor) do you collect data from?

I have to admit, that we still run squeeze on our production rancid
systems, but with a (recompiled) wheezy rancid version. We didn't
notice any problems with this setup on our devices.

So you should give me more input what exactly goes wrong.

2014-01-13 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Package: fontconfig-config
Version: 2.11.0-2
Severity: minor

Hi,

in the list of alternative dependencies the "fonts-freefont" package appears.
However, this package does not exist in Debian, I guess you meant fonts-
freefont-ttf instead. While at it, please add fonts-croscore as another
dependency and maybe even fonts-texgyre. Both provide replacements for the most
common font sets, c.f. 30-metric-aliases.conf.

Bug#735223: cups-filters: Does not need to depend on specific fonts anymore

2014-01-13 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Package: cups-filters
Version: 1.0.43-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

for quite some time the cups-filters package uses fontconfig and does thus
depend on the libfontconfig1 package. This package depends on fontconfig-
config, which in turn does already depend on a reasonable selection of fonts -
i.e. packages which contain font families that provide all the sans, serif and
monospace flavors. It is thus not necessary anymore for the cups-filters
package to maintain its own list of font packages as dependencies.

2014-01-13 Thread Oskar Liljeblad
I guess this could be because I have configured my ssh client to always
create master connections. So perhaps dropbear keeps a process running
as long as the client has a master socket. For some reason this prevents
OpenSSH from listening on port 22. Also, you can't stop dropbear using
'/etc/init.d/dropbear stop', because the pid file no longer exists in
/var/run.

Regards,

Oskar

Sorry, I didn't check the bug before posting the message. Well, maybe
it would be okay to at least ignore this error during clean?

Bug#735218: libchipcard: use dh-autoreconf to fix FTBFS on ppc64el and update config.{sub, guess} for new arches

  * Use dh-autoreconf to get new libtool macros for ppc64el and update
config.{sub,guess} for new arches.
  * Fix clean target in debian/rules.

Hi,

The bug in #732410 may be just that ps argues about getting a CONT
signal without being suspended. The following has been posted on the
zsh workers' mailing list today[1].

Additionally, I was also able to reproduce it on an amrhf Jessie

} ps:display.c:66: please report this bug```

That's rather a strange error message. Why would it be a bug for ps to
get a CONT signal?

There are cases in which zsh sends a CONT signal to a child process that
*could* be in a stopped state without bothering to check first whether
the child actually *is* stopped. This should be a completely harmless
no-op for a child that's already running, and I'd say it's more a bug
in ps for complaining about it than it is a bug in zsh for sending it.

The "extraneous" SIGCONT is at line 285 of Src/jobs.c and "git blame" says
it has been there since 2000-04-01, so there is undoubtedly *some* way to
induce it in any version of zsh you're likely to be able to try; but the
circumstances in which that code is called have changed recently, as we
now try to do a more thorough job of tracking child processes for correct
population the $pipestatus array and avoiding race conditions.

You are absolutely right. Thank you for this marvelous diagnosis. I had
fltk1.3.2 compiled from upstream (with --enable-shared) and thought I've
removed all components before installing libfltk1.3-dev from the debian
repos but I had forgotten the headers in /usr/local/include...
My fault, shame on me.

I wasn't aware of the fact, that GCC behaves different for headers and
libs. Thank you for pointing this out.

Again: Thank you for your help and sorry if I caused trouble. I owe you
some beers :-D

This has been my opinion all along. Various assertions that it's

think, is to define just what "support" means in the context of
