Where can the TTF file be downloaded? We should also check if there is
a "source" file of any kind as we now prefer including source files
for fonts when we can.

Bug#750892: hdparm: -m 0 option on SATA drive caused lockup, required full fsck

2014-06-07 Thread Arthur Marsh
Package: hdparm
Version: 9.43-1.1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

trying to turn of multcount (-m 0) on a SATA drive

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

It resulted in a a lockup that required a full fsck of all mounted drives
after reboot.

The behaviour of hdparm with SATA drives should be sane.

Bug#750891: [flashplugin-nonfree] "This package currently supports the following browsers:Mozilla, Mozilla-Firefox, Firefox"

2014-06-07 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:3.4
Severity: minor

The extended description contains:

This package currently supports the following browsers:
Mozilla, Mozilla-Firefox, Firefox, Iceweasel, and Iceape.

Something is definitely wrong in the list. "Mozilla" should probably read "SeaMonkey
Navigator".

By the way, Chromium should be part of that list according to

Unfortunately, because of the conflicting names, it would be
problematic. Ron, will you agree if someone packaged global6 without the
CGI stuff and use of the alternative system to let people choose between
global and global6 for gtags and other commands?

I am using gg-tags in Emacs and the current version of global in Debian
just doesn't work with this mode.

The next stable release is approaching. Do you think you can apply my

If you are not longer active on this package (last upload from 2009)
please orphan it (or send an RFH/RFA).

Thanks for pointing that out! I hadn't realized that there was a new

Bug#750884: Extra fontconfig recipe for fonts-droid

2014-06-07 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Package: fonts-android

In Ubuntu 14.04 we replaced Zen Hei with Droid Sans as the default font
for rendering Chinese content. In case of a Chinese locale, we make sure
that Droid Sans is used via 'binding="strong"' in distro specific lang
guarded fontconfig recipes.

In case of an English locale, we found that AR PL UKai or AR PL UMing
took precedence over Droid Sans when fonts-arphic-ukai and
fonts-arphic-uming were installed (which they are in Ubuntu for Chinese
users). This was not considered a desired behavior, and to fix it we
patched fonts-android 1:4.3-3 so that fonts-droid installs an extra
fontconfig recipe.

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/172056918/fonts-android_1%3A4.3-3_1%3A4.3-3ubuntu1.diff.gz

The recipe is similar to 64-wqy-zenhei.conf, which previously gave
sufficient precedence to Zen Hei.

The related Ubuntu bug is https://launchpad.net/bugs/1227034

I forward our solution in the hope that you will find it appropriate to
apply upstream, and with that get Debian and Ubuntu back in sync.

Thanks for the prompt fix! However, it looks like you'll also need to
move python(3)-pytest:

set -ex && for pyvers in 2.7 3.4; do \
  PYTHONPATH=. py.test-$pyvers -v tests ; \
  done
  + PYTHONPATH=. py.test-2.7 -v tests
  /bin/sh: 2: py.test-2.7: not found
  make[1]: *** [override_dh_auto_test] Error 127

I expect you'll also need to do the same for python(3)-six, which should
moreover go to Depends, since I see the installed modules import six.

Bug#743174: #743174: paragraph parsing truncates on comments

2014-06-07 Thread Stuart Prescott

[As a data point towards fixing this in the future]

In #750247, David Kalnischkies pointed out that the use of python-apt's
TagFile (which is a wrapper around libapt-pkg) would behave badly on comments.
iter_paragraphs() uses python-apt if it can to accelerate processing of deb822
files.

Forcing iter_paragraphs() to avoid use python-apt TagFile:

$  echo -e 'Build-Depends: foo,\n#comment\n bar' | python -c 'import sys,
debian.deb822; l = [p for p in debian.deb822.Deb822.iter_paragraphs(sys.stdin,
use_apt_pkg=True)]; print(l)'
[{'Build-Depends': u'foo,'}]

$  echo -e 'Build-Depends: foo,\n#comment\n bar' | python -c 'import sys,
debian.deb822; l = [p for p in debian.deb822.Deb822.iter_paragraphs(sys.stdin,
use_apt_pkg=False)]; print(l)'
[{'Build-Depends': u'foo,\n bar'}]

When parsing a Packages or Sources file, it is probably acceptable to use the
strict parser in TagFile by default because the generators of those files are
strict in what they produce. For other random sources of deb822 files which are
not necessarily strictly produced or use a syntax that is an extension to the
Packages and Sources file format, defaulting to the use of TagFile is probably
a bad thing. We've got quite a few bugs related to debian/control files -- they
are particularly problematic because they are human-generated and the build
tools are forgiving in what they accept. Using a strict parser like TagFile to
consume these files is probably the wrong thing to do; whatever performance
boost there may be on a short file with only a few paragraphs isn't worth the
pain this is causing.

I'm starting to wonder if we should invert the current API logic:

* iter_paragraphs should *not* try to use TagFile unless the caller explicitly
requests it and thereby makes the promise that there will be no comments in
the data and that paragraphs will be separated by blank lines rather than
other whitespace etc.

* Packages and Sources files could continue to opportunistically using TagFile
since they should be OK with that restriction anyway and the performance boost
of using TagFile is actually worth it for them.

We'd be able to solve at least #750247 and #743174 by doing this.

Comments welcome!

cheers
Stuart

Bug#750882: [dictionaries-common] "in README.Debian file" in extended description

2014-06-07 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: dictionaries-common
Version: 1.23.4
Severity: minor

The extended description contains:

More info about naming conventions and availability of those
dictionaries in README.Debian file.

"README.Debian file" is missing a determiner. This should read either "the README.Debian
file" or just "README.Debian".

By the way, it would be a good idea for such a package to stick to complete
sentences in the extended description.

Bug#750881: ibus-cangjie: Should be arch all not arch any

2014-06-07 Thread Scott Kitterman
Package: ibus-cangjie
Version: 2.2-1
Severity: normal

Looking at the content shipped in ibus-cangjie, it does not appear that any of
it is architecure specific. If this is correct, please change from arch any
to arch all and convert switch (at least, I didn't check the rest) the
build-dep on python3-all-dev to python3-all.

This will help conserve time spent building packages on the buildds for the
various architectures Debian supports (which can be quite limited on some
architectures) and also remove ibus-cangjie from the list of packages needing
rebuilding when the python3 version is changed.

Good question. Rebuilding 1.8.8-2 in a current sid chroot causes the
same thing. This seems to be caused by something in the toolchain.

For reference, here are the differences in some key toolchain packages
for the original 1.8.8-2 build and the one I just re-ran:

package | small lib version | large lib version
-
binutils | 2.24-5| 2.24.51.20140604-3
g++4.8| 4.8.2-18  | 4.8.3-3
gcc-4.8 | 4.8.2-18 | 4.8.3-3
gcc-4.9 | n/a | 4.9.0-5
libc6-dev | 2.18-4| 2.19-1
libstdc++-4.8-dev | 4.8.2-18  | 4.8.3-3
libstdc++6| 4.8.2-18  | 4.9.0-5

Based on my minimal knowledge of what goes into building the shared
libraries, I'll start this off in binutils' court.

Cheers,

Bug#750880: wine-unstable breaks winetricks

2014-06-07 Thread Mike McGuire
Package: wine-unstable
Version: 1.7.19-1
Severity: normal

Trying to run winetricks results in the following output:

--
WINE is wine, which is neither on the path nor an executable file

I don't know if there's any easy fix for this but I found a couple workarounds:
1. ln -s /usr/lib/wine-unstable/wine /usr/bin/wine
2. run winetricks with environment variable WINE=wine-unstable

I guess something could be added to the README or something.

Grr, seems I somehow managed to mess up the formatting and turned a tab
character into U+21A6. Did a follow-up upload to fix that.

Updated debdiffs attached.

Yeah, sorry.
Messed up the formatting pretty badly. 2.88dsf-53.2, which I just
uploaded, should work better

Bug#750792: rpcbind: rpcinfo segfaults

Dear Maintainer,

In the last few days the rpcinfo command has started to segfault for
me. (I'm not 100% sure but it may have started directly after I
updated my libc6 package to 2.19-1)

I'm seeing in /var/log/syslog entries like

(which come from nfs-common trying to call it when it's init script
runs).

Running it directly from a shell results in a segfault;
$ /usr/sbin/rpcinfo

Bug#746358: Boot hangs if fstab contains NFS entries

I've just tested the latest initscripts package (2.88dsf-53.1)

Unfortunately the lines in adds to /etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs ;

--
# Skip the mountnfs hook when being triggered by the networking SysV init
# script and instead use the systemd built-in mechanisms to mount remote
# file systems.
# This avoids a deadlock caused by the rpcbind SysV init script depending

if [ -d /run/systemd/system ]; then
  systemctl list-jobs | grep -q network.target && exit 0

Do not fix the problem for me and my boot started sitting on configuring
network interfaces again
(I only waited 5minutes before giving up, so I'm unsure if it was just being
very slow or if it would never have completed)

I ended up swapping out the above lines for
---
if [ -d /run/systemd/system ] ; then
   systemctl status network.target > /dev/null || exit 0
fi
---
the same as I'd been using after a previous suggestion in this bug, they
continues to work and my system now finishes
configuring network interfaces and boots successfully again.

   * What led up to the situation? I installed and ran world wind.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? When I run worldwind without these libraries I get many
java errors saying "DXTn compressed textures not supported by this graphics
card". World wind maps do not display correctly.
   * What outcome did you expect instead? The maps would display correctly, no
errors would occure.

Installing the packages named in the title fixed the problems.

richard@deodand:~$ dpkg -s inn2-lfs
Package: inn2-lfs

Priority: extra
Section: news
Architecture: i386

However the new inn2 thinks I have inn2-lfs installed:

Preparing to unpack .../archives/inn2_2.5.4-1_i386.deb ...

You are trying to install inn2 on a system where the inn2-lfs package is
currently installed.

The old inn2-lfs package does not exist anymore and must be replaced by
the new functionally equivalent inn2 package, which supports large files.

This will require rebuilding the history and overview databases, but the
postinst script will attempt to do it for you.

BEWARE: the timecaf spool format is not compatible between 32 and 64 bit
systems and no conversion tool is available.
A possible solution may involve manually feeding the articles to the new
server by using the old innxmit binary in a chroot environment containing
the old spool, history and /etc/news/.

Please create an empty /etc/news/convert-inn-data file and then try
again installing inn2 if you want to proceed.

Purging inn2 and reinstalling seems to have bypassed the problem.

Bug#703456: [Pkg-fonts-devel] Please add Nafees Nastaleeq

2014-06-07 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Soon before the April Ubuntu release we figured out a way that seems to
have made the Urdu users happy. We patched fonts-nafees 1.2-5 by adding
NafeesNastaleeq.ttf together with a recipe which I attach to this
message. We did not address the version number issue (not enough time).

The complete diff is available at
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/172050192/fonts-nafees_1.2-5_1.2-5ubuntu1.diff.gz

It would of course be desirable if we could get Ubuntu and Debian back
in sync. Creating a separate fonts-nafees-nastaleeq package would be
fine for us, but that recipe (or something else with the same effect)
seems to be necessary as well.

Bug#749888: gnome-terminal: FTBFS on kfreebsd & hurd archs

On 02/06/14 14:13, Andreas Henriksson wrote:

We can't ship unusable software in Jessie. As per -release mandate kfreebsd-*
is no exception anymore.

It's already been stablished that GDM3 is unportable, and why. If you can't
find a way to make gnome-terminal work without GDM3, then please make it
Linux-only until you can.

I'm afraid you can't rely on porter teams to fix this. gnome-terminal dependency
on GDM3 has nothing to do with porting.

Bug#750771: RFS: python-fysom/1.0.15-1 [ITP] (bootstrap-vz dependency)

2014-06-07 Thread Alex Chernyakhovsky

Hi Marcin,

I've looked at your packaging, and have the following comments:

sbuild reports:
pyversions: missing X(S)-Python-Version in control file, fall back to
debian/pyversions
pyversions: missing debian/pyversions file, fall back to supported versions

Per
https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/python-policy/ch-module_packages.html#s-specifying_versions,
please specify X-Python-Version: (>= 2.6) [as per the module's
documentation of being tested on 2.6-3.3).

The files in the debian/ directory look good, and the package is
lintian clean. I've noticed you're using debhelper, and specify a
compat level of 8. As far as I can tell, you're only using debhelper 7
features; perhaps consider setting the compat level to 7 (and
depending on debhelper >= 7) to ease backporting?

Sincerely,
-Alex

Bug#746358: Bug reappears

2014-06-07 Thread david
Unfortunately the new version of initscripts (2.88dsf-53.1)
has a modified mountnfs script which reintroduces this bug.

The patch in an earlier post had fixed it. I don't know
enough to be able to patch the new script so i hope
somebody here will be able to come up with something.

large portions of dh_python2's multiple python version support by calling the
upstream Makefile instead of setup.py.

Fortunately the solution is relatively simple:

* Drop package-local Makefile constructs handling multiple python versions

* Explicitly call the python_distutils debhelper buildsystem plugin

* Use override hooks to call only the upstream Makefile targets which handle
non-distutils parts of the build.

Patch attached.

Dear Maintainers,

I tested Max's patch. It works, and looks like a clean solution. I hope
you will apply it.

2014-06-07 Thread Bernard Zijlstra

Dear Maintainer,

After adding an e-mail account in evolution I got a message "The name

told me gnome-keyring was involved which I installed. After that everything
worked as expected. I use i3 with slim so there is not much gnome stuff by

Bug#750873: ITP: libpgobject-type-json-perl -- JSON wrappers for PGObject

Package: wnpp

* Package name: libpgobject-type-json-perl
  Version : 1.011.0
  Upstream Author : Chris Travers
  License : BSD-2-clause
Description : PGObject::Type::JSON - JSON wrappers for PGObject

This module is a type handler for JSON entities. This is a best effort
mapping of types to references. Literal values are handled as literal
references. It allows json types or other(specified by custom register)
types to be converted from JSON into objects according to their values.
It assumes that encoding will be in UTF8 across the board and is not
safe to use with other database encodings.

Bug#747320: Mandate "type" in /bin/sh

2014-06-07 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Ian Jackson , 2014-05-07, 14:32:

I came across this in /etc/init.d/exim4:

 OLDIFS="$IFS"
 IFS=:
 for p in $PATH; do
   if [ -x "$p/$UPEX4CONF" ]; then
 IFS="$OLDIFS"
 $p/$UPEX4CONF $UPEX4OPTS
 return 0
   fi
 done
 IFS="$OLDIFS"

I imagine that this kind of thing is found in many other places.

This is what Developer's Reference §6.4 recommends. (Strangely enough
§6.4 is supposed to be about maintainer scripts. But maintainer scripts
can safely assume that /usr is mounted, and use /usr/bin/which instead
of this monster.)

So yeah, it's very likely that we have many instances of similar code in
the archive.

It seems to me that given that dash and bash both provide `type', and
the underlying functionality necessarily exists in the shell, it would
be better to mandate that the shell expose it.

Alternatively, we could bless "command -v", which is a nicer interface
IMO, and it's also supported by bash, dash and mksh.

Bug#750860: xorg crashes randomly, floating point exception (synaptics' fault?)

2014-06-07 Thread niky 45
oh. alright. It seems logical that random old packages from experimental
are not supported.

for now, I'm running the latest sid kernel (I installed the generic
linux-image package to let it handle the kernel updates). the cpufreq
config files are not there (they're part or the kernel), but if it behaves
as expected, then I'll not miss them. (I mean, I can actually upgrade to a
new kernel if cpufreq works as I'm expecting, even without those files)

as for the synaptics in experimental, I already installed it, and I think
the xserver has crashed after that, but I'm not sure. I mean, I have
updated it today, and I have seen like three crashes today, but I'm not
sure if the last crash was previous to the update or after it. Also, I
didn't restarted the server after the update, so... It may well have been
that the old driver was still loaded and crashed.

as for mixing branches, I know, I know. not the best thing to do. but I
have been using debian for a while, and well, I can manage that (as in,
I know it's prone to break, but I don't mind fixing it every now and
then).

anyway, I'll test everything for a while and update you with the results.

thanks.

Bug#750871: mercurial: odd problem with /usr/bin/hg hash bang when backporting to wheezy

2014-06-07 Thread Faheem Mitha
Package: mercurial
Version: 3.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

When I backported the mercurial 3.0-1 package in unstable to wheezy,
something odd happened. The hash bang at the top of the installed
/usr/bin/hg in the backported 3.0 mercurial package is
#!/usr/bin/python2.6. This is wrong, of course, since the default
Python version on wheezy is 2.7. The correct hash bang is
#!/usr/bin/python.

The last version I backported to wheezy, which was 2.9, as well as the
mercurial 3.0 unstable deb file I downloaded, both have
#!/usr/bin/python as expected.

So something seems to be going wrong on wheezy. Max Bowsher on
#mercurial was able to reproduce this.

   Regards, Faheem

Looks good, but why is this deliberate -lc needed? Is it because
lintian reports library-not-linked-with-libc? For the adaptor bundles
probably? If so, this is a lintian false positive that should be
filed as a bug against lintian; you can ignore the error.

Bug#750869: gsql: openssl license exception needed

2014-06-07 Thread James Cowgill
Source: gsql
Version: 0.2.2-1.2+b1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Currently gsql links against libssh which in turn links against openssl.
Specifically the file /usr/lib/gsql/plugins/libgsqlplugin_tunnel.so links
against libssh. Since gsql is licensed under the GPL, it needs a license
exception to allow the linking.

Alternatively you could prod bug #676650 which would provide an alternate libssh
built against gnutls.

Package: lldb-3.4

Justification: Policy 8.6

Hi,

The lldb-3.4 package provides the following shared library in a public

 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblldb.so

However it does not contain a symbols or shlibs file for that shared library.
This wasn't done automatically by dh_makeshlibs because shlibs files cannot be
generated for libraries without versioned sonames.

The API is "documented" on
https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mingw-w64/wiki/Mingw-w64%20API%20documentation
but very little of the API is described.

Yes, I imagine it would have to be emulated using SetTimer but even then
producing a signal from the timer function might be difficult...

also randomly mixing stable and testing is no good,
please either switch to one distribution or the other.

while you are it there is a new synpatics driver in experimental,
which goes with the xorg from testing.

No idea about the cpufreq blurb.

2014-06-07 Thread niky 45
oh. I thought that since the kernel in stable is the 3.2.0, mine (3.6.9)
wouldn't be too outdated...

I hadn't updated it yet since last time I tried a newer kernel, some
cpufreq stuff had dissapeared, and I couldn't find the files to customize
the cpufreq governors...

but I'll install the latest sid kernel and try again (both the xserver AND
cpufreq).

btw, in case the cpufreq files aren't there, should the 3.2.0 kernel from
stable work? I mean, I know it's outdated. debian stable gets old after a
while. but it's still the official debian release, so it should work,
shouldn't it? Or could the problem come from an old kernel with new xorg
packages?

thanks.

Control: retitle -1 [sadt] please skip non-executable tests
Control: owner -1 !

* Nicolas Boulenguez , 2014-05-30, 23:05:
I suggest that sadt skips non executable tests with a warning and
documents this behaviour (as it does with missing dependencies), or
displays a warning when modifying the permissions. It took me some time
to find who was interfering with my version control system.

Thanks, that's a pretty strong argument that chmod'ing tests is not a
good idea, at least not by default.

Bug#750864: mate-terminal should depend on mate-desktop-common

2014-06-07 Thread Muammar El Khatib
Package: mate-terminal
Version: 1.8.0+dfsg1-2
Severity: important

Hi,

I have installed mate-terminal today. When I did it, the dependencies installed
were only: mate-terminal-common.

When I launched the terminal I got the error:

$ Settings schema 'org.mate.interface' is not installed

Then, after installing mate-desktop-common the application launched correctly.

Thank you very much for providing mate.

Regards,

Hi,

I don't think that's going to fly, at least not in the default config.
In FHS-compliant installations, updating files spread all over the
filesystem is a pretty scary idea. If you really want to use the
client-pulls-new-binaries-from-server thing, why are you using
prepackaged .debs anyway? To me, it sounds like you should rather use
a one-time "make install" (possibly packaged as a tarball that you
ship to clients), and go from there.

This is not to say there's no way to integrate this in the package,
but it needs careful thinking about which parts should be overridable,
and I guess none of that should be enabled by default.

Bug#750247: python-debian: deb822 wrong result when space in newline after paragraph

(not python-, but apt "proper" ;) )

My reading is actually quiet different: First sentence. Period. Parsers
may be more relaxed, but do not expect it: control files should use
empty lines.

(aka: "should" not in a "as Mylord pleases", but in a "if you don't have
a damn good reason to do otherwise, follow my lead" as "Non-conformance
with … should … will generally be considered a bug" in §1.1)

> I tend to err on the side of the parser being lax and the generator being

Being lax usually costs performance. The TagFile parser in libapt deals
by default only with machine generated files so it tends to be rather
strict to not waste time accounting for things which never happen in
practice. Looking at 'apt-cache stats' on my machine (with arguable
many sources) shows more than half a million sections are being parsed,
so "just ignoring some spaces" could have very visible effects for me.

There is an exception to this, the preferences file(s), which have
a deb822 format as well. The pkgTagSection is here therefore subclassed
to allow commented lines (aka: lines starting with #) before and after
each section (in between just works "by accident" now that I see the
code – again as I wrote that ~4 years ago as one of my first patches…).

I tell you this because comments are allowed in a control file by
policy, so using pristine pkgTagFile here will have interesting effects.
(like multiline fields split by comments) A non-empty should-be-empty
line might be the smallest of your problems…

We will have to work on that for the preferences file anyway, and
reading control file ourself isn't unheard of as well, but that isn't
going to be provided by stock pkgTagFile I assume. I could imagine
a pkgTagSection which can be told how relaxed it should be (or at least
allows more plugin code than at the moment), but that code doesn't exist
yet and I have no idea how the python layer looks like on top of that…

Best regards

Bug#748971: vlc crashes when trying to open "preferences" or trying to display the playing list

2014-06-07 Thread Ilario Gelmetti

Bug#747465: RC?

2014-06-07 Thread intrigeri
Hi,

FTR, I've attached a backtrace to the upstream bug report
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=728157).

This bug actually seems to be severity == grave, as it makes
notification-daemon "completely unusable or mostly so".

Would the maintainers object if I raise the severity this way?

I'm asking first, as perhaps I'm missing something, e.g. notify-send
might be talking to notify-daemon in a completely non-standard way.

Cheers,

Bug#742473: lightyears: sound patch

2014-06-07 Thread Allan Wirth
This was bothering me too and I tracked down the issue.

There is a debian patch that fixes a typo in 'resource.py' to correctly
set the right variable if the sound system is disabled. The issue is
that the sound system is never enabled by that point, so the patch
effectively disables sound for all users!

An easy fix for this is to simply delay this check until when sounds are
requested. It's kind of ugly, but it works fine and restores sound to
the game.

The patch is pretty simple so I'll just paste it here. I have no
experience with debian packaging/patches/etc so someone else is going to
have to get this applied correctly to the package.

As a side note I am currently running 1.4-1 from testing.

I believe this is not needed anymore so I disabled it. Otherwise, jarjar
was causing Groovy broken builds.

I'll keep an eye on Gradle as usual but I think this should not be an

I can reproduce this bug on Wheezy, Wheezy + current sid's 3.14.5-1
kernel, and on current sid (where it gets even worse, as
notification-daemon crashes: #747465).

Might it be that this bug depends on the hardware, and how it's
supported by xorg + KMS drivers?

Bug#750859: flightgear: Crashes on some scenery objects: strutils.cxx:65:utf8ToLatin1: wrong char value

2014-06-07 Thread Ludovic Brenta
Package: flightgear
Version: 3.0.0-2
Severity: important

Hello,

FlightGear crashes when loading certain tiles downloaded using
TerraSync. One particular tile can reproduce the crash reliably; here
is a recipe:

* Start FlightGear Launch Control (aka fgrun)
* On the first page, the type of aircraft does not seem to matter.
* On the second page, click "All Airports" then type EDDR (Saarbrucken).
* On the third page, enable TerraSync.
* Run.
* Be patient while FlightGear downloads the scenery for northeastern
France and parts of Germany (if you don't have those tiles yet).
* Open the map (Equipment > Map); it starts at zoom level 6 for me by
default, helping pinpoint the object that triggers the problem.
* Tick "Data".

This causes FlightGear to crash, leaving a 80-MiB log file in
~/.fgfs/fgfs.log. The last messages in this log file are:

terrain:3:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/scene/tgdb/ReaderWriterSTG.cxx:256:Loading
 stg file /home/lbrenta/.fgfs/TerraSync/Terrain/e000n40/e007n49/3072728.stg
io:4:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/misc/strutils.cxx:65:utf8ToLatin1: wrong char
value: 4294967168

(this last line repeated millions of times with different numbers).

I suspect a bug in strutils.cxx wherein the UTF-8 parser fails to
recover from incorrect UTF-8 input. For that matter, the implementation
of utf8ToLatin1 seems incorrect to me as it ignores the high-order bits
of every byte, only checking one bit per byte of input.

The "terrain:" message changes at each crash but the first "wrong char
value" is always the same; for example I also got:

terrain:3:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/scene/tgdb/ReaderWriterSTG.cxx:256:Loading
 stg file /home/lbrenta/.fgfs/TerraSync/Terrain/e000n40/e006n48/3056307.stg
io:4:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/misc/strutils.cxx:65:utf8ToLatin1: wrong char
value: 4294967168

terrain:3:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/scene/tgdb/ReaderWriterSTG.cxx:256:Loading
 stg file /home/lbrenta/.fgfs/TerraSync/Terrain/e000n40/e006n48/3056315.stg
io:4:/usr/src/simgear.git/simgear/misc/strutils.cxx:65:utf8ToLatin1: wrong char
value: 4294967168

this suggests that the "terrain" message might be unrelated to the "io"
message.

For completeness, here is the complete command line I used to launch
FlightGear:

Bug#750858: dcraw: diff for NMU 9.21-0.1

2014-06-07 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: dcraw
Version: 9.19-1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello,

I have just uploaded 9.21-0.1 to experimental and intend to upload to
unstable after buildability has been verified. The main reason for
this NMU is the rc bug 743598.

Bug#750851: extlinux: no memdisk entries

2014-06-07 Thread Michal Suchanek
Package: extlinux
Version: 3:6.03~pre1+dfsg-4
Followup-For: Bug #750851

So I looked more into this and the memtest binaries end in .bin but
memdisk requires .img suffix. Easily fixable with a symlink. Perhaps a
memtest extlinux.d entry could create them?

Anyway, even with a symlink the memtests do not boot.

You need something like the following patch because memdisk relies on
_BOOT_DIRECTORY which is local to 0010-linux.

Thanks

Michal

I stand corrected and thereby withdraw my suggestion.

Ah, that's useful, thanks.

What do you have in /etc/apparmor/notify.conf ?

How does "please run aa-notify in the Perl debugger" sound to your ear?

Cheers,

openvpn(8) mentions a socks-proxy option, and a simple web search
shows that plenty of people seem to be happily using it.

Bug#750795: mongodb: Package 2.6.1

Version 2.6.x is not fully compatible with 2.4.y ones and its
database. You can read more about this[1], but there are other changes
as well. Also mongodb can't be built on kfreebsd-* due to a header
macro problem affecting libpcap[2]. At least the latter needs to be
solved first and I plan separate packages for MongoDB 2.6 .

Bug#749347: ledgersmb: fails to install - fix

Fix works for the original issue as reported, installations on
Debian Testing. Also works for wheezy to jessie to sid.

Note that RC1 for LedgerSMB 1.3.40 is now out and the release for it
is expected "soon", so the plan now is to release the fix for this with
1.3.40-1.
