Bug#768772: ITP: xkcdpass -- secure passphrase generator inspired by XKCD 936
❦ 10 novembre 2014 12:36 +1100, Ben Finney ben+deb...@benfinney.id.au : The attribution is misleading. While xkcd has popularized this way of getting password, it was previously known as diceware: http://world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html It would be nice to mention that. That sounds like something to report upstream, perhaps for inclusion in the documentation. I don't think it belongs in the Debian packaging; do you? It could be fit in the long description. Also, the provided list of words is quite large and may use long words and derivative which may make the password more complicate to memorize. For example, there are both acknowledgment and acknowledgement. The original list of words from diceware is 7776 words long which provides a 90bit security for a 7-word passphrase. Okay. Again, that seems like an issue to report for upstream consideration, and doesn't affect the Debian packaging of this work. The differences in code between the versions are small -- I believe it's literrally only two patches incorporated. There's also debian/mumble-server.init | 143 +++ which doesn't appear to be mentioned afaics. *sigh* Thanks for catching this: it wasn't mentioned because I didn't make this change (AFAIK) and was unaware of it concerning this upload; [...] At one time I had accidentily included a debian/mumble-server.init (in a prior version) because it's something upstream includes in their PPA package for Ubuntu so I was testing using the file but had not committed it to git. [...] Other than that, do you have a suggestion as to how I should proceed from here? If it can happen really soon, I'd be happy with an upload that matches what you intended. Okay, a new mumble 1.2.8-2 has been uploaded into Unstable, and I believe it matches what we would all want. I was asked to revert the Standards-Version back to 3.9.5 so this upload is just slightly different from the last debdiff I sent; as such I've attaching a new debdiff and an interdiff against the first debdiff (mumble_1.2.8~7_to_1.2.8-1.diff) that I had started the bug with. The interdiff is just slightly larger than expected because the time zone changed back an hour (-0400 to -0500) since the last upload. Bug#768929: libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25: plugin process vulnerable to stack buffer overflow
Package: libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25 Version: 2.4.7-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch upstream Like the 2.6 series of webkitgtk, this release is also vulnerable to the same stack buffer overflow problem (#768341). In short, we have this code to obtain the value of NPPVpluginNeedsXEmbed from a plugin: uint64_t windowID = 0; bool needsXEmbed = false; NPP_GetValue(NPPVpluginNeedsXEmbed, needsXEmbed); The value of NPPVpluginNeedsXEmbed is boolean (1 byte), however some plugins are using an int instead. This has been confirmed with the Flash plugin at least. Making needsXEmbed an int fixes the problem. This is not reproducible in all situations because depending on how the code is compiled it might just be overwriting the windowID variable again with zeroes. The patch has been applied upstream and will be available in the next release from the 2.4 branch. http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/175696 http://trac.webkit.org/wiki/WebKitGTK/2.4.x Berto -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25 depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 2.14.0-1 ii libc6 2.19-12 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.0-2.1 ii libcairo2 1.14.0-2.1 ii libenchant1c2a 1.6.0-10.1 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.1 ii libfreetype62.5.2-2 ii libgcc1 1:4.9.1-19 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.31.1-2+b1 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1]10.3.2-1 ii libglib2.0-02.42.0-2 ii libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0 1.4.3-1.1 ii libgstreamer1.0-0 1.4.3-1.2 ii libgtk-3-0 3.14.4-1 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.25-1 ii libharfbuzz-icu00.9.35-2 ii libharfbuzz0b 0.9.35-2 ii libicu5252.1-6 ii libjavascriptcoregtk-3.0-0 2.4.7-1 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:1.3.1-10 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.36.8-2 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.36.8-2 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.36.8-2 ii libpng12-0 1.2.50-2+b1 ii libsecret-1-0 0.18-1+b1 ii libsoup2.4-12.48.0-1 ii libsqlite3-03.8.7-1 ii libstdc++6 4.9.1-19 ii libwebkitgtk-3.0-common 2.4.7-1 ii libwebp50.4.1-1.2+b2 ii libx11-62:1.6.2-3 ii libxcomposite1 1:0.4.4-1 ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.4-2 ii libxfixes3 1:5.0.1-2+b1 ii libxml2 2.9.1+dfsg1-4 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.8-1+b1 ii libxslt1.1 1.1.28-2+b2 ii libxt6 1:1.1.4-1+b1 ii multiarch-support 2.19-12 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2 Versions of packages libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25 recommends: ii geoclue-2.02.1.10-2 ii gstreamer1.0-plugins-base 1.4.3-1.1 ii gstreamer1.0-plugins-good 1.4.3-2 libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#559767: severity of 559767 is important
Despite the similar error message the build fail for another reason on amd64. The libj3dcore-ogl.so: No such file or directory message occurs whenever a compilation error occurs in the native part of java3d. The actual error is higher in the log just before the javadoc generation: /usr/include/GL/glxext.h:480:164: error: unknown type name 'GLintptr' This is caused by a recent change in mesa, see #765933. I don't know if java3d has to be updated or if a fix has to be applied in mesa only. The original error on armel was about undefined references to `__aeabi_*'. Since this is not the same issue I'm going to lower the severity to 'important' and open a new bug if a change is needed on the java3d side. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#768315: unblock: util-linux/2.25.2-3
Russ Allbery [2014-11-06 22:13 -0800]: The concern with the service unit is that it's only a service unit with no corresponding init script. If the behavior is a good idea, we should do it regardless of the init system, I would think I agree. In Ubuntu we've carried this for a while now: | $ cat /etc/cron.weekly/fstrim | #!/bin/sh | # trim all mounted file systems which support it | /sbin/fstrim --all || true This is init system agnostic, and with anacron it also works nicely on desktops. Of course, if in your view as a maintainer this functionality isn't ready for jessie or you don't want to support it, just backing out of the change also works. It also took us quite some time in Ubuntu to enable it by default, and we did extensive measurements to see which approach is best. But not trimming SSDs is really quite bad these days, so from my POV it would be quite prudent to include either the timer or the cron job in jessie. By my reading of Policy §3.4.2, I don't see why such a reference to a third-party document would be important enough to clutter the long description of this package. It should, IMO, go into the package's documentation, if at all. If you're saying the package documentation should have that reference, I can agree, but the Debian packaging doesn't need to mention it IMO. -- \ “The internet's completely over.… Anyway, all these computers | `\and digital gadgets are no good. I think that the reason this shows up now is that the libraries that phlipple depends on, e.g. libvorbis, libvorbisfile, etc, have changed since May to not explicitly list their own dependencies in the pkg-config output. In the May rebuild, phlipple picked up -lm from its dependent libraries' dependencies, and it compiled just fine; now it doesn't, and it must figure out that -lm should be added all by itself. As noted in the patch, I know that this is not a proper fix, but I believe that it should be a simple minimal targeted fix for the Jessie freeze. So what do you think about the attached patch? I have taken the liberty of adding a changelog entry and adding myself to the Uploaders, so that the build is happy, but of course it's perfectly fine if you take just the patch and commit it yourself. Still, if you agree, I could commit it to the pkg-games Subversion repo myself, then prepare a package and put it up in the sponsoring queue. Thanks for all your work in pkg-games and Debian in general, and also thanks to Lucas for his tireless, endless rebuilds! :) G'luck, Peter -- Peter Pentchev r...@ringlet.net r...@freebsd.org p.penc...@storpool.com PGP key:http://people.FreeBSD.org/~roam/roam.key.asc Key fingerprint 2EE7 A7A5 17FC 124C F115 C354 651E EFB0 2527 DF13 From 4e2e82fccd3967cad11ca2626f4be5760f46dcc2 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Peter Pentchev openstack-...@storpool.com Date: Mon, 10 Nov 2014 11:38:20 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Add a minimal patch to link with libm. As this was a non-yet-official arm64 + custom kernel build, and it went away with a newer kernel on the official buildds, I assumed it had something to do with that custom kernel. That's very unfortunate, because I believe this to be a nvidia driver Since it worked before with the same driver version, and since I had many bugs with gnome, some of which were resolved, I am pretty sure it is not a driver problem. Bug#768935: unblock: drupal7-mod-drucall
Package: release.debian.org drupal7-mod-drucall is closely related to the jscommunicator package This version updates the package with the latest content, including language files, from jscommunicator. The jscommunicator unblock request links to various bugs: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=768363 - this corrects the version in the constraint to depend on fonts-font-awesome 4.1.0~dfsg https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=768632 - this ensures compatibility with older versions of jQuery found in Debian / drupal7 package This is a new upstream release from 2.0.0 to 2.2. WebRTC is a fast moving technology and it is in the best interests of users to offer the latest version of the package. Browser vendors assure people that the technology is still under development and users should not be too surprised at this change in version. This package has not been updated in unstable for a few months because new dependencies were in the FTP new queue (drupal7-mod-jqueryi18nproperties and drupal7-mod-fontawesome) until just before the freeze and so I have only been able to test all these packages together with the latest jscommunicator as a set over the last few days. diff -Nru drupal7-mod-drucall-2.0.1/debian/changelog drupal7-mod-drucall-2.1/debian/changelog --- drupal7-mod-drucall-2.0.1/debian/changelog 2014-02-04 21:30:57.0 +0100 +++ drupal7-mod-drucall-2.1/debian/changelog2014-11-06 20:05:11.0 +0100 @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +drupal7-mod-drucall (2.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium + + * New upstream release. + * Sync content with JSCommunicator. Sorry for the confusion but I'm not certain my previous reply has anything to do with this issue anymore. The issue I had was with the package 'gnome-do' for some reason. In any case, I could reproduce this on an amd64 porterbox (barriere.debian.org), so I will have a look at compiling there with debugging information and poke at what the issue is. Bug#768937: zsh: [patch] not binNMU-safe due to --link-doc between arch-dep and arch-indep
Package: zsh Version: 5.0.7-3.1+b1 Severity: serious Tags: patch Justification: uninstallable As noted on #747141, it is not safe for dh_installdocs --link-doc to link together the documentation directories of an architecture-dependent package and an architecture-independent package, because the resulting lockstep dependency is unsatisfiable after the architecture-dependent package receives a binNMU. Here's a patch to fix that, using the approach that Axel Beckert described on that bug: - change the affected packages in question to not use --link-doc. That's likely the way I'd go with zsh then, with the addition of some additional symlinks from /usr/share/doc/zsh/something to /usr/share/doc/zsh-common/something for most files not being changelogs. *sigh* I changed zsh-dbg from docs linked to zsh-common to docs linked to zsh, and installed the bare minimum of Policy-required docs in zsh. zsh-dev is now self-contained (I don't think it's worth optimizing its size). I put the dpkg-maintscript glue to migrate /usr/share/doc/zsh from a directory to a symlink in both zsh and zsh-common, because both packages ship files in that directory now, and either package might be unpacked first. Of course, the proper fix should be done upstream in the configure script, but IMHO this minimal targeted fix should be sufficient for the Jessie freeze. Once again, feel free to remove the changelog and control snippets and commit it yourself, since zaz is your package. Of course, if you agree, I could commit it to the pkg-games Subversion repo and put a package up in the sponsoring queue. Again, Miriam, Lucas, thanks for all your work! Bug#768936: ITP: nufft -- Library implementing the Non-Uniform Fast Fourier Transform
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Ghislain Antony Vaillant ghisv...@gmail.com * Package name: nufft Version : 1.3.3 Upstream Author : Leslie Greengard greeng...@cims.nyu.edu * URL : http://www.cims.nyu.edu/cmcl/nufft/nufft.html * License : BSD Programming Lang: FORTRAN Description : Library implementing the Non-Uniform Fast Fourier Transform Implementation of the Non-Uniform Fast Fourier Transform (NUFFT) coded in FORTRAN using a fast, procedural, algorithm. Compared to existingly packaged solutions, like the NFFT library, the NUFFT provides Octave (and MATLAB) compatible bindings. Because of the procedural implementation, usage of the NUFFT is more straightforward. However, it lacks support for high dimensionality than 3 and support for precomputation in case a transform needs to be repeated. As a result both the NFFT and NUFFT package may coexist as they fit different needs. I believe this package would be a good fit for the mathematics-dev blend of the Debian-science project, and should be maintained by the Debian science team. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Anyone got a clue what changed in the mean time? Is this rebuild using a different linker than the one used by the autobuilders? It looks like you uploaded libvorbis 1.3.4 the same day, and that new upstream version correctly moves -lm from Libs to Libs.private in vorbis.pc: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-xiph/libvorbis.git/tree/vorbis.pc.in?h=upstreamid=37c68547f31da4590a31baa0e17c00f20523a9b9 libtheora was built against the older libvorbis, so it had the implicit -lm borrowed from libvorbis. A rebuild no longer gets that. Package: qa.debian.org Severity: wishlist Hi, after reading #768644 (that apparemntyl is caused by local misconfiguration, but still), it occurred to me that it would be good to automatically detect issues related to non-default partitioning schemes. An automated test could: 1. installs a clean testing and/or sid system 2. during installation, picks one of the automated partitioning schemes; the test matrix shall be expanded on that axis 3. boots the resulting system 4. checks that the system is fully booted and all services correctly started (e.g. with `systemctl is-system-running') To which Holger replied (privately, but allowing me to quote his words): so far the g-i tests only test the default automatic partitioning. I'm definitly interested to test (many) more, also raid + crypted lvm and what not. but: before investing (seriously) more energy in the current g-i tests, I'd like to switch them from my horrible bash script to tails' wonderful libvirt+cucumber+sakuli based thing, which I plan to get done in November (2014 :) So, give me some time and then please send me patches ;-) Or, remind me then again. Bug#768140: torsocks: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*
Hi, Hi Steven other kfreebsd porters, Steven Chamberlain wrote (07 Nov 2014 14:10:15 GMT) : Steven Chamberlain wrote: For FreeBSD I came up with the attached, hackish workaround using SO_TYPE (widely available), and out of the available protocols in PF_LOCAL (= AF_UNIX), assume that only SOCK_{DGRAM,SEQPACKET,STREAM} are candidates for fd passing. The patch that introduces the FTBFS on kfreebsd-* fixes an important bug that I'd like to see fixed in Jessie. Therefore, I intend to ask the release team for an unblock request ASAP. But I'd like to give you (kfreebsd porters, upstream) a chance to fix the FTBFS before I do that. So, my current plan is to wait until Friday night (CET), and at that point the kfreebsd-* build wasn't repaired yet, then I'll file the unblock request. Bug#767103: [pkg-otr-team] Bug#767103: Bug#767103: irssi-plugin-otr doesn't work with irssi 0.8.17

November 2014, intrigeri wrote: Shall we ask the release team for a binNMU of irssi-plugin-otr, and postpone understanding the root cause of the bug? I'm concerned that it may occur again each time we upgrade libotr, but as far as Jessie is concerned, this might be the way to go. if were doing this I'd suggest to add a versioned dependency... I don't think that (and the corresponding source upload) is needed, since the main libotr binary package was renamed from Wheezy to Jessie (libotr2 - libotr5), so the only remaining problematic partial upgrade case is wheezy+backports to Jessie, and I intend to upload the latest libotr to wheezy-backports in the next few days (as per Julien Cristau's suggestion) to avoid similar issues for pidgin-otr. Anyway, if we do that, for future-proofness you'll want to make sure that the manually added versioned dependency doesn't interfere badly with ${shlibs:Depends} in case that one returns a dependency on a newer version of libotr. Also, it would be good if someone tried current libotr (backported to Wheezy) + wheezy-backports' irssi-plugin-otr. I'd hate to break that one when I upload the backport. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#768398: anki: Old version can't sync with AnkiWeb
On Sat, 8 Nov 2014 02:57:08 +0100 Andreas Bombe andreas.bo...@mytum.de wrote: On Fri, Nov 07, 2014 at 11:36:54AM +0900, Douglas Perkins wrote: Now when I try to sync, I get a popup error message, Syncing failed: Please upgrade to the latest version of Anki. I've tried several times with the same outcome. In the past, this has happened when the AnkiWeb server administrator decided to force clients to use the most recent version. The newest version on http://ankisrs.net/#linux is 2.0.31. Currently, Sid has version 2.0.30. Is it possible to move to 2.0.31? My apologies for posting here. The problem is not precisely with the client, but rather with the AnkiWeb server administration requiring lightning-fast client upgrades. Yes, that is the usual problem with Anki. I had hoped for it to last a little bit longer, but it was not to be as it seems. The thing is that Debian is now frozen to prepare the jessie release and I can't just go and upload new versions whenever they come out. Certainly I won't be able to get them into jessie, which is going to have 2.0.30+dfsg-1. Maybe I will upload new versions into experimental to have them available to users of sid/unstable. I also intend to offer backports for stable users, which is the only way to get a network syncable Anki in a release with all that regular breaking of older versions. Andreas So there's no chance, that jessie will have a working Anki version? Syncing is a crucial part of the program. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#768963: keepass2: KeePass crashes when trying to open a file using open file dialog (e.g. a kdbx or a key file)
Package: keepass2 Version: 2.28+dfsg-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Whenever i try to browse and open a file inside KeePass (e.g. when trying to create a new key file or opening a database) it crashes, the application window hides but it does not exit.
