Bug#776357: libreoffice FTBFS on hppa architecture (with patch)

2015-01-26 Thread Helge Deller

Package: libreoffice
Version: 4.4.0~rc3-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

libreoffice fails to build because of this error during configure stage:
configure: WARNING: You are building 64-bit binaries but the JDK
/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/bin/java is 32-bit
configure: error: You should pass the --with-jdk-home option pointing to a
64-bit JDK
Error running configure at ./autogen.sh line 266.

Full log:
http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libreoffice&arch=hppa&ver=1%3A4.4.0%7Erc3-1&stamp=1422344321

The attached patch fixes this. The problem is, that on the hppa architecture we
still only
support 32bit userspace (although this 32bit userspace can run on a 64bit
kernel).
The configure scripts in libreoffice assume we are 64bit userspace and as such
expects a 64bit JDK which is wrong.
The attached patch moves the hppa platform down to the 32bit platforms.

I assume that there are one or two further patches needed for hppa (The source
is still compiling since a day so I can't tell exactly yet)...

Thanks!
Helge

Bug#776358: gnome fails to set backlight brightness when hotswapping monitors

2015-01-26 Thread Olliver Schinagl
Package: gnome
Version: 1:3.14+3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When plugging in, but NOT when removing an external monitor, the laptop's
backlight is reset to 0. I can manually increase the backlight, but after each
hotplug event, the backlight is 0 again.

This may be related to bug #776355 which shows similar, but not exactly the
same, behavior on gdm3.

Bug#776356: gdm3 shows only black screen with cursor on tripple head

2015-01-26 Thread Olliver Schinagl
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.14.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When booting with 3 monitors, internal laptopscreen, 2 external monitors, GDM
refuses to bring up the login screen, instead it shows 3 black screens with a
cursor. The cursor can happily move between all 3 screens. Booting with only 2
screens, laptop + external monitor, works fine. After logging in, I can happily
plug in the third monitor and have a tripple-head desktop.

Last time I checked on Ubuntu, a few months ago, this all worked normally, so
it has worked at 'some' point in the past.

Turns out it is fair simple to do, but it kills *all* inline styles[1].
Simply apply attached patch and rebuild. All inline styles should now
be gone (for better and for worse). We might need to extract the
existing styles to keep the current look and feel.

Excellent, thanks.

[1] Well, except the "body" used for displaying the draft image - but we
have an existing work-around for that.

Bug#762330: Is libjsoncpp still active maintained?

I would say that it is not. I had to upload a version to fix a bug in
a dependency, but I then discovered that this fix was already part of
the new upstream release, released a few months before.

As a maintainer of a dependency, I'd appreciate if you could revive a
bit the packaging of libjsoncpp. But I am in no way involved in the
packaging of libjsoncpp myself, so it would be better to have the
advice of the actual maintainers.

Please also note that I have currently no free time to devote to that
package. Even in a co-maintaining way, sorry.

Thanks for your interest,

Bug#776355: gdm3 turns backlight off when multiple monitors are connected, yet puts the login prompt on the darkened monitor

2015-01-26 Thread Olliver Schinagl
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.14.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Whenever I do a cold boot, I see the boot messages on my laptop screen and
monitor in parallel. Whenever GDM starts however, backlight is set to be off.
The secondary monitor still shows the gdm background. The login prompt however
remains on the primary laptop screen and thus cannot be interacted with.

Booting with no external monitors connected works fine.

Additionally, the backlight brightness cannot be adjusted when gdm is active
(but I think this is to be expected due to permissions?).

Bug#299672: Allow config tweaking of playlist permissions

I don't see any value in keeping it open, so please feel free to close

Hi Jakob,

I would like to be able to specify "new playlist file permissions" in
the

config file so generated playlists can be group-writable.

As of now, the umask is set to 0022 in /etc/init.d/mpd, which is ok
with

regards to the database-file, but too restrictive for playlists, IMO.

Feel free to pass this along upsteam (or let me know if I should file
an

upstream wishlist bug directly instead ;-)

if you're still interested in this feature request after it has been
sitting in the Debian BTS for almost ten years, please DO take it
upstream, probably explaining a little more about your use case
(multi-user

systems and group permissions seem increasingly out of fashion...)

If on the other hand if you see no value in keeping it open any longer,
please don't hesitate to close this bug or tell me to close it.

I'm sorry if you were still expecting someone to pick this up...

Florian

I've added this issue on my list of things to keep track for RC2. I
should be able to try and deal with sorting out which package to patch,
so that you can concentrate on other release-y things.

I'm afraid I can't reproduce this in a clean experimental schroot on
amd64 (i. e. those are the debs that I uploaded yesterday). Can you
please verify that you actually have the current versions installed
and not a local build somewhere else? journalctl and systemctl as in
the package don't depend on libsystemd* at all.

Can you please give me the output of the following commands:

  dpkg -l systemd libsystemd0 | cat
  which systemctl journalctl
  ldd /bin/systemctl
  ldd /bin/journalctl

Can you please also show me the exact command that you tried to call,
and the error message?

Thanks!

Martin

Bug#776354: connect-proxy: should be able to take the SOCKS5_PASSWORD from command-line

2015-01-26 Thread Russell Coker
Package: connect-proxy
Version: 1.101-1
Severity: wishlist

The SOCKS5_PASSWORD and other configuration options should be usable from the
command line. When the parameters for "connect" are set in ~/.ssh/config
there is no option for setting the socks password. While it is possible to
have a global environment setting for this, if I was to use multiple socks
servers for different ssh servers this would be annoying.

Bug#775302: [fis-gtm] UTF-8 libgtmutils.so in fis-gtm-6.2-000 is missing routines

2015-01-26 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Amul,

is this issue fixed with the last upload. I simply forgot to ask before
sponsoring. If yes, usually the bug should be closed in the changelog.
Now we can do it manually.

Kind regards

Is this maybe a result from a local installation?
What does "whereis systemctl" say?
What's the output of `ldd /bin/systemctl`?

Bug#776353: idea: select recent photos more often

Package: xscreensaver-gl
Version: 5.30-1+b1
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/lib/xscreensaver/glslideshow
Tags: upstream

I use xscreensaver to view family photos, and often I wish that I'd
see more of the latest photos than all photos with equal
probability. How hard would it be to be to add two controls to
glslideshow:

  1. a sort order
  2. a curve describing the probability of selection of each image,
which could be as easy as an exponential curve increasing with
x being the axis listing all photos in increasing sort order.

?

It's just an idea, but I figure I should drop it here.

Ok, where would something like this go then? I tried checking out the
d-i source and I am yet to figure out the place where "random"
preseedable/expert questions go.

Is this case basically "shove the debconf selections into the target
system and let the regular .deb packages deal with it"? If so, it seems
that openssh "mostly" already permits this to be preseeded:

"""
  if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt-nl 1:6.6p1-1 && \
 [ "$(get_config_option PermitRootLogin)" = yes ] &&
 db_get openssh-server/permit-root-login && [ "$RET" = true ]; then
set_config_option PermitRootLogin without-password
  fi
"""

(I suspect it just needs a little fiddling with the --compare-versions)

True - I assumed that the installation-guide was as easy to update on
the website as the release-notes.

I am ready to look into writing a patch for d-i to provide this to be
preseedable. I am presume it needs to be "documented somewhere" in d-i
(either as an expert question, in the installation-manual or in the
standard preseed-example file). I do not mind doing it as an expert
question as well assuming we still have time for getting translations.

Package: tor

After a default install of tor on a SE Linux system that is in enforcing mode
tor will not start due to the wrong contexts of /var/lib/tor and /var/log/tor.

The solution is to run restorecon whenever chown/chmod is run as any situation
that gives the directory the wrong owner/mode probably gives it the wrong

if the issue is happen with one single account please create a new
profile which holds only this one account. You get two things by this,
test out if it is a problem with the other profile and debugging is
becomming much easier.

If you have a hugh amount of mails in the Sent folder please try out to
reduce them. In the past there those several people that reported issues
with Icedove and really big folders.

PS: I have looked into the private sent mail with the log, but I can't
see a hook which is telling why icedove binary is segfaulting.

that dict-elements could not be built reproducibly.

The attached patch removes timestamps from the build system. Once
applied, dict-elements can be built reproducibly in our current

Package: systemd

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading systemd from 218-5 to 218-6 and removing the obsolete
libsystemd-daemon0, libsystemd-id128-0 and libsystemd-journal0
which have been dropped in version 218-6, systemctl and journalctl complain

Aside from shipping real native unit files, that's probably the least
invasive change:

- Drop $remote_fs from the open-isci LSB header and replace it with
$local_fs. That looks wrong anyway.

- Ship a file like the following in drop-in directory to call
umountiscsi.sh on stop and adding the ordering for remote-fs-pre.target

 # cat /etc/systemd/system/open-iscsi.service.d/foo.conf
[Unit]
Wants=remote-fs-pre.target
Before=remote-fs-pre.target

[Service]
ExecStop=
ExecStop=/etc/init.d/umountiscsi.sh stop
ExecStop=/etc/init.d/open-iscsi stop

If this file is shipped as part of the package, it should be placed in
/lib/systemd/system/open-iscsi.service.d/ and probably have a better
name then foo.conf :-)

Indeed I couldn't reproduce it now (probably because I deleted an old
config that remained from some older version).

Bug#768489: Update to this issue

2015-01-26 Thread Aron Podrigal
I encountered the same problem using the newer version
mysql-server=5.5.41-0+wheezy1.
but solved it with uninstalling mysql-server and mysql-server-5.5
and reinstalling both with the specific version mysql-server=5.5.40-0+wheezy1
mysql-server-5.5=5.5.40-0+wheezy1.

I will try to reproduce this problem, sounds to me that it is some
incompatibility between the installed packages.
Hope this helps.

Bug#776349: grass-gui: wx gui tries to load images from wrong location

Package: grass-gui
Version: 6.4.4-1

Dear Maintainer,

It is probably a long time since I used GRASS on Jessie... recently I launched
it for the first time since the last upload.

I Tried to start GRASS from the gnome menu and from a terminal. (first
deleting/moving my .grassrc6)

The gui wizard responded with some pop-up errors from gui such as:
"can't open file '/usr/lib/grass64/etc/gui/images/startup_banner.gif' (error 2:

(apparently such a file does exist at
/usr/share/grass64/etc/gui/images/startup_banner.gif i.e. under /usr/share, not
/usr/lib)

see below python traceback from terminal attempt:

No, my point is that the init system shells loaded into this shotgun
are known to be explosive, already causing mass injury and even
casualty to the project, and there is no reason to think they are any
less volatile today.

Declining to rule is a perfectly legitimate outcome and reason enough
to close this request, but that option unfortunately doesn't exist on
this ballot.

Please consider not pulling the trigger again?

Best wishes,

Hi,

I entirely agree with your viewpoint, although I'm not sure where the
idea of the rush for jessie came from? It's obviously far too late
for that. Plus with kfreebsd not being official anymore, I couldn't
imaging the release team spending even a second thinking about this.

I don't think the netcfg changes need to be a blocker for this change.
Having the wpa_supplicant executable available in d-i for manually
bringing up the network (for those that know how to do that) will be a
huge step itself.

Bug#776345: dleyna-server: Segfault when playing video

2015-01-26 Thread Matthew Harvey
Package: dleyna-server
Version: 0.4.0-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Sporadically, when watching video, typically using Totem. Any video.
This did not happen until about a month ago (on testing, keeping up
   to date)
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Typically, the system had been running fine for a while, and then
I would turn on a video, and within the first couple of minutes of
this video running, the following happened.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
There was a segfault in the dleyna-server, and my gnome-shell
logged me out and closed all the windows I had open
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I would expect the video to keep playing, and all of my
   windows to still be open.

The dmesg output describing the segfault is provided below.
Please advise as to how I can give you more information on this issue.

Bug#776341: apt: bugs/deficiencies in apt_preferences evaluation

2015-01-26 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Hi.

I just saw that there is a POSIX ERE matching mode, which can be used to
solve the above issue (the glob matching, which I knew of, alone
wouldn't have so).

So I guess you can close this bug, but I leave it open for now, that you
can double check, whether the observed behaviour is actually desired.

Also, I add a note to #776337, that the manpage should be improved to
tell that multiple a=,a= and similar are not supported.
Apart form that, one would perhaps welcome more examples about how to
use the EREs,... e.g. describing which of the following it is:
Pin: release /a=testing(|-updates)/
Pin: release a=/testing(|-updates)/

And since those apparently als match e.g. FOOtesting:
Pin: release /^a=testing(|-updates)$/
Pin: release a=/^testing(|-updates)$/

Cheers,
Chris.

Bug#776337: apt: document how multiple contidions in apt_preferences can be combined

2015-01-26 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Also please have a look at bug #776341, which is why I think that the
following should perhaps be clarified a bit more:
- that multiple matches of the same field are not supported. e.g.
  release a=testing,a=unstable
will neither have the effect of AND nor OR, it is simply "the last one
  wins"
- how the POSIX EREs work in practise (see #776341).

Cheers,
Chris.

I'm well aware - just not sure whether I think 0.1.9 is the best for jessie or
0.1.7 plus the new signing key and the fixes for #775891.

Sadly just 0.1.9 is "polluted" by fixes for tickets #155 and #157, which have
*some* Debian relevance too..

Feedback (as in reasonings) very much welcome!

cheers,
Holger, who will probably upload 0.1.9-1~foo to experimental tomorrow
as this is the right thing to do atm for sure anyway ;-)

Please comment on what to do for Jessie. see #775921

disable the verbose option is by editing by hand the config file.

Actually, I'd even question the relevance of saving this option. It's
not a user preference like the language or the user names. It's more
like a one-time usage to debug something.

Regards,
Celelibi

Bug#776341: apt: bugs/deficiencies in apt_preferences evaluation

2015-01-26 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Source: apt
Version: 1.0.9.6
Severity: normal

Hi.

I recently noted a "bug" in my own apt_preference configuration... what I
do is roughly the following:
I have a Debian installed as e.g. stable, but wish to take certain packages
from other suites, so I enable these suites in sources.list, e.g.
deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
  deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ stable-updates main contrib non-free

deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
  deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ testing-updates main contrib non-free
  deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ testing-proposed-updates main contrib
non-free

deb http://debian.mirror.lrz.de/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
"disable" all packages from the non-stable suites via apt_preferences, e.g.
via something like:
  Package: *
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing
  Pin-Priority: 1
and selectively enable those packages from other suites I want, e.g. via:
  Package: foobar
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing
  Pin-Priority: 500

Worked fine, till I've noted yesterday, that sudo was going to be upgraded,
which I haven't pinned. So I looked it up and found that testing-updates and
testing-proposed-updates use their own names as Suite: ... okay, my bad, I
needed to add disabling rules for these as well, e.g.
  Package: *
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing-updates
  Pin-Priority: 1
and so on.

Then I noticed that my pinning of single packages would of course suffer from
the same problem, i.e. when I pin a=testing, and a newer version is in
a=testing-*
it wouldn't be taken.
The same when I want to do something like "take package foo from
testing|unstable,
whichever is newer" (of course this doesn't make that much sense given how
testing/unstable works, at least in Debian).

So I tried for sudo something like:
  Package: sudo
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing,a=testing-updates,a=unstable
  Pin-Priority: 1
which seemed to work at first, but then I've noted that apparently apt takes
simply
only the last a=... IOW, multiple a=,a=,... is not like OR (which should be
documented
btw.)
Simply revert the order, e.g. a=unstable,a=testing,... and you'll see that it
will NOT
take the highest version from all ORed suites.

Next, and this is where IMHO the actual bug/deficiencie lies, I tried:
  Package: sudo
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing
  Pin-Priority: 1
  Package: sudo
  Pin: release o=Debian,a=unstable
  Pin-Priority: 1
which showed, that this seems to work like a stop-after-first-match.
IOW, it does the testing match, but doesn't pin unstable.
If one disables testing from sources.list, it would even not find a pin
at all (apt-cache policy telling: "Package pin: (not found)").

So in the end, the whole idea of selectively pinning a package for one specific
suite works only for ONE suite.
Which is apparently quite bad, given that
testing/testing-updates/testing-proposed-updates
are handled as different suites.
The same when you add Debian Backports to the game...

Cheers,
Chris.

Bug#758238: renamed, released

2015-01-26 Thread Adam Borowski
Control: retitle -1 RFP: cool-retro-term -- eye-candy terminal emulator which
mimics old cathode displays

It has been renamed cool-retro-term. There are also actual releases:
0.9
1.0.0-RC1
1.0.0

The upstream provides a debian/ dir that produces a working package, but has
at least completely wrong debian/copyright.

There's also a number of bundled fonts with various licenses:
* ibm-3278: free
* apple2: non-free
* commodore-pet: non-free
* atari-400-800: no license
* commodore64: thoroughly non-free (probably distributable?)
* atari-st: no license
* ibm-pc-vga: no license
* envy-code-r: not distributable (explicitly!)
* fixedsys-excelsior: no license
* hermit: free
* inconsolata: free, already packaged
* monaco: not distributable (Apple)
* pro-font-win-tweaked: free
* proggy-tiny: free
* terminus: free. This is TTF, Debian has pcf only.

Some of these are good enough to warrant packaging on their own (rather than
just a dependency of c-r-t), especially the 3270 one (similar to the
in-Debian package xfonts-x3270-misc, except that it has nice instead of
bitmaps).

FWIW: this bug can be reliably triggered by holding the right click
pressed and losing the last ball. I cannot reproduce the bug when it's
not the last ball that is lost.

Bug#776339: tecnoballz: Ball resize not relocated while in corner relaunchers

2015-01-26 Thread Celelibi
Package: tecnoballz

Hello,

This is a minor graphic bug.

When some balls are being held by the "corner relaunchers" (do they have
an official name?) and a bonus is caught that change the ball size, the
balls drawn into the relaunchers are slightly offset compared to their
position if they'd have been caught with being that size.

Best regards,

Bug#776337: apt: document how multiple contidions in apt_preferences can be combined

2015-01-26 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Source: apt
Version: 1.0.9.6
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

Right now apt_preferences(5) doesn't really clearly explain
how multiple conditions for pins can be combined (i.e. via
logical AND).

The manpage only gives some implicit documentation via
specifiv examples, e.g.
  Pin: release a=stable, v=8

IMHO it would be nice if it would be more generally explained:
- how multiple conditions are evaluated (i.e. AND)
- how they're syntactically specified, e.g.
separating them via comma seems to work, like above:
release a=stable, v=8
  but
release a=stable, release v=8
  seems to work as well?
Also the question how to mix different condition types,
e.g. release with version or origin.

Cheers,
Chris.

I have a machine pinned to experimental with lots of different desktops

obsolete-conffile reports. Currently I have to wade through lots of
complaints from adequate at the end of each apt run. It would be nice if
adequate could compare the results for each package from the last time
it was upgraded with the current upgrade and only report when new issues
are encountered. This would save me looking in the BTS to find out if
bugs have already been reported.

Bug#776334: apt: implement quoting for the conditions on apt_preferences

2015-01-26 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Source: apt
Version: 1.0.9.6
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

It seems that there is no general way of quoting the conditions.
in apt_preferences (i.e. the Pin: lines).

So having repos like deb-multimedia, which contain spaces in some
of their fields, e.g.:
  Origin: Unofficial Multimedia Packages
  Label: Unofficial Multimedia Packages
  Suite: unstable

show the problems that could theoretically arise:
  Package: deb-multimedia-keyring
  Pin: release o=Unofficial Multimedia Packages,a=testing
  Pin-Priority: 500

Now it's not really clear, is the origin "Unofficial Multimedia
Packages,a=testing"
or are there an origin "Unofficial Multimedia Packages" and an archive "testing"
specified.

Apparently the behaviour right now is, that apt simply looks
for commas and splits there, e.g.
Pin: release o=Unofficial Multimedia Packages,l=Unofficial Multimedia Packages
works (AFAICS) as expected... which of course means again,
that the values couldn't contain ",".

Cheers,
Chris.

Bug#776332: kfreebsd-10: installer fails for 128 MB install

2015-01-26 Thread Michael Gilbert
package: src:kfreebsd-10
version: 10.1~svn274115-1
severity: important

The kfreebsd-amd64 installer currently fails for low memory systems.

$ kvm -m 128 -cdrom debian-jessie-DI-rc1-kfreebsd-amd64-netinst.iso jessie.img
[...]
pid 32 (devd), uid 0, was killed: out of swap
Killed
Something wicked happened. Press enter for a rescue shell.

$ kvm -m 192 -cdrom debian-jessie-DI-rc1-kfreebsd-amd64-netinst.iso jessie.img
[...]
OK

According to the installation guide 128 MB should work:
https://www.debian.org/releases/testing/kfreebsd-amd64/ch02s05.html.en

Note also that installing with 192 MB and then using 128 MB after
installation works, so it is only a problem during installation.

Best wishes,
Mike

Bug#766649: fakeroot: Full (?) fix for OS X

2015-01-26 Thread Nathaniel Talbott
I was still receiving errors on OS X when using the fakeroot package even
after applying Mikhail's patches. In particular, the next_openat function
never gets defined, which means that if openat is called, it will fail out
when it can't find the symbol.

The challenge with fixing this is that openat on OS X takes variadic
arguments, and the wrapawk_macosx script cannot properly handle mapping
them.

To fix this, I have a horrible hack; see
https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/pull/36242 for an implementation that
works. The short version is that I patch the redefinition of openat in
libfakeroot.c to always pass a mode argument to next_openat (patch
attached), and then patch wraptmpf.h after it is generated to implement
next_openat to always take mode (patch attached).

Patching a generated file is obviously not a long-term solution, but I'm
not sure how the maintainer would like to handle this case. If I had my
druthers I'd ditch automatic wrapping and just maintain the wrapping code
by hand; that said, I don't know how often wrappers change and how much
overhead that would then cause.

I'm also not sure if this fix for OS X will break other OS's, and am not
able to test elsewhere at this point.

I hope this is helpful, and thanks to Mikhail for his original patches on
which my patches are built.

Bug#775871: Any updates to the TBB bundle people ?

2015-01-26 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
I just came across this bug myself. Once, twice, thrice then I
investigated what the issue might be. Went to the cache and compared
the sha256sum of the file downloaded with the one given at the tor
project. Saw that it matched, then concluded then it's the small
python egg which might be the issue and found the bug-report right
after.

Looking forward to the fix, even if it means having it in
experimental. As can be seen it's not to be found even in experimental
as of now :-

whereas iceweasel is right there on experimental :-

Also Micha Lee made a new 0.1.9 release around 4 days back so guessing
the new one would be the best.

Bug#776081:

2015-01-26 Thread Potter, Tim (Cloud Services)
The current version of the libconstantine-java package is in the (old?)
pkg-java subversion repository. Let’s move it to git, and update to 0.8.6.

However the package has been renamed to jnr-constants in 2011-2012. View the
git commit log to see the gradual deprecation of the name constantine in favour
of jnr-constants.

Anyway, I’ve pushed my version of the packaging for the 0.8.6 version to
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/jnr-constants.git, which can be
merged/updated/deleted depending on what we decide to do.

Severity: grave

Justification: renders package unusable
User: debian...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package is no longer
installable in sid:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
   php-kdyby-console : Depends: php-nette (>= 2.2) but 2.1.5-1 is to be
installed
   Depends: php-symfony-console (>= 2.5) but 2.3.21+dfsg-2
is to be installed

a suitable php-nette version is in experimental,
but no version is available for php-symfony-console

Cheers,

Bug#776329: installation-reports: Jessie RC1 on Dell Vostro 550

2015-01-26 Thread Simon Josefsson
Package: installation-reports
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Installation went fine, but some nits:

1) I tried a graphical install, but the builtin mouse did not work
well: moving the cursor didn't work, but clicking buttons did.

2) It queries for IWLWIFI firmware and mentions the following
   firmwares:

  iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode
iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode

Note how the filenames are duplicated. This seems like a cosmetic
  problem?

3) After inserting a USB stick with firmware, it loads
iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode fine (and wifi works). However, it still
   complains about missing firmware files:

   iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode

I click 'No' and continue installation. The -5 firmware file is
not included in the firmware-iwlwifi package -- should it be? Wifi
appears to be working fine without it, though. Or should the
installer be tought that the firmware isn't needed?

4) The machine also requires firmware for the builtin NIC
(rtl_nic/rtl8168e-2.fw) but I don't get a question about it. While
this may be intention (there is just one global
   load-non-free-firmware-yes-no?), it is a bit sub-optimal. Maybe I
only want to load firmware for one of the hardware pieces in my
machine and not the others? This doesn't seem possible. So this
is a feature request to prompt with explicit filenames for every
   different hardware separately.

Thanks,
Simon

That's a long time ago... IIRC, the goal when I looked at mpd was to
provide a fixed playlist (set up by the admin) to remote users, who
get music delivered to their own computers. But each user should be
able to choose the current position in the playlist.

Perhaps mpd is not the right tool, or the documentation was unclear.

Bug#776328: cytadela won't start

2015-01-26 Thread beuc
Hi,

I can reproduce the issue on my amd64 computer.

A work-around I've found is to press "Enter" twice rapidly when being
asked for the language (so that skips the intro completely).

More generally there seem to be an issue in the libvlc code:

#0 0x766729f3 in malloc_consolidate (av=av@entry=0x7699d620
) at malloc.c:4157
#1 0x766734d1 in _int_free (av=0x7699d620 ,

#5 0x771ccb8e in libvlc_release () from /usr/lib/libvlc.so.5

#8  0x0041a90d in CCytadelaMain::playIntro (this=0x7fffb6a0) at
CCytadelaMain.cpp:985

#10 0x00405163 in main (argc=, argv=0x7fffe3d8) at
main.cpp:138

This may be because Cytadela was using libvlc 2.0, and Debian now uses
2.2.0~rc2.

I'm adding Cytadela's maintainer in copy - Tomasz, did you get a
similar report already?

Cheers!

Bug#762194: Initial draft of affirming transition to systemd as default for #762194

It affirms the decisions which have been made by the other teams in
Debian, and resolves this particular issue. Issues which are properly
submitted to the CTTE have to be resolved, and the way that they're
resolved is with a resolution.

> What possibly is there to gain from further init system meddling just

I'm unsure how this particular resolution meddles at all with the init
system decision; it explicitly doesn't change anything, and points out
the multiple different ways that Developers have worked to mitigate any
issues with the transition.

If your point is that we shouldn't resolve this issue at all, and should
simply leave the bug open in the BTS, I disagree completely.

what's the point?

What possibly is there to gain from further init system meddling just

Bug#762194: Initial draft of affirming transition to systemd as default for #762194

2015-01-26 Thread Don Armstrong
On Mon, 26 Jan 2015, Steve Langasek wrote:
> I believe this covers everything I was concerned about, no further edits
> warranted from my side. I'm happy for this to be called to a vote if you
> are.

I call for a vote on the following resolution to 762194:

==BEGIN==

In #762194, the Technical Committee was asked to consider the
transition plan of the init package maintainers to have both new
installs and upgrades use systemd by default.

1. The CTTE determined in #727708 that systemd should be the default
   init system in Debian.

2. In https://lists.debian.org/87mwc9gfsw@xoog.err.no, the
maintainers of the init package announced their transition plan for
migrating to systemd as the default init system on both installs
   and new upgrades.

3. The init package (and other related packages) currently in jessie
   implement this transition.

==OPTION A==

Using its power under §6.1.5 to make statements:

3. The CTTE affirms the decision of the init system package
maintainers to transition to systemd by default on upgrades and to
install systemd by default on new installs.

4. The CTTE appreciates the effort of Debian contributors to mitigate
any issues with the transition by:

   a) Providing a fallback boot entry for sysvinit when systemd is the
   default init in grub (#757298)

   b) Developing a mechanism to warn on inittab configurations which
   are unsupported in systemd. (#761063)

   c) Providing documentation on how to remain with sysvinit on
upgrades and switch to sysvinit upon installation.

   d) Numerous bug reports and fixes by contributors who have tested
the systemd migration in their configurations.

5. The CTTE advises (without overriding any Debian contributor,
maintainer, or team) that any such mitigations should be included
in jessie, to ensure a smooth transition for Debian users.

if you're still interested in this feature request after it has been
sitting in the Debian BTS for almost ten years, please DO take it
upstream, probably explaining a little more about your use case (multi-user
systems and group permissions seem increasingly out of fashion...)

If on the other hand if you see no value in keeping it open any longer,

Can you say more about what doesn't work? Some context is in
/usr/share/doc/git/NEWS.Debian.gz:

Bug#774266: gdk-pixbuf seems to be the culprit

2015-01-26 Thread Michael Below
I discussed the issue with libjpeg-turbo upstream and eog upstream.
libjpeg (-turbo or not) doesn't offer a CMYK-RGB conversion. eog uses
gdk-pixbuf for image decoding, and gdk-pixbuf contains a simplified
CMYK-RGB conversion.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=737440#c9
http://sourceforge.net/p/libjpeg-turbo/mailman/message/33266986/

This simplified conversion is a bad idea. gdk-pixbuf should do a
correct color managed conversion, or no conversion at all. Having CMYK
images show up with red-faced people etc. is more confusing than
helpful.

is that still the case? The part responsible for reading the meta info

Bug#762194: Initial draft of affirming transition to systemd as default for #762194

Sorry to take so long in replying. The current draft from git is:

==BEGIN==

==OPTION A==

==END==

I believe this covers everything I was concerned about, no further edits
warranted from my side. I'm happy for this to be called to a vote if you
are.

Bug#776326: subtitlecomposer breaks MIME type detection of some PNGs

2015-01-26 Thread Martin Steghöfer

Package: subtitlecomposer
Version: 0.5.3-4
Severity: normal

Dear maintainers of subtitlecomposer,

the installation of the package subtitlecomposer breaks the MIME type
detection of certain PNGs.

Before installation of subtitlecomposer:

| mast:~$ gvfs-info headset.png | grep content-type
|   standard::content-type: image/png
|   standard::fast-content-type: image/png

After installation of subtitlecomposer:

| mast:~$ gvfs-info headset.png | grep content-type
|   standard::content-type: text/x-tmplayer
|   standard::fast-content-type: image/png

Note that the PNG file content type is now detected as "text/x-tmplayer"
(before: "image/png"). The required file "headset.png" is attached to
this message.

This affects other programs, e.g. it breaks the Ambiance theme window
decoration in a bug reported to Ubuntu [1] or it crashes the PulseAudio
volume control without error message in my case (the Gtk call to load
the icon throws an unhandled exception - and I'd guess that the problem
can also affect other Gtk-based programs in the same way).

The problem can be fixed temporarily by lowering the priority of
text/x-tmplayer and text/x-tmplayer+ from 100 to 40 in
/usr/share/mime/packages/subtitlecomposer.xml and updating the database
by executing "update-mime-database /usr/share/mime".

A permanent fix is available upstream [2] (see also the upstream bug
report [3]).

Thank you for maintaining subtitlecomposer and in advance for fixing
this problem!

Cheers,
Martin

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve. Why shouldn't the client be
able to add songs to the current playlist, or clear it and build a new
playlist?

And, given that this bug is almost ten years old and has failed to
attract any visible reaction up to now, do you think it's still useful
to keep it open, do you want to take your request upstream, or should we
conclude that mpd won't change in this regard and just put it to rest?

Hello release team, and pound maintainers (copied via X-Debbugs-Cc).

The wheezy version of pound has a nasty bug that breaks HTTP → HTTPS
redirects for URL's that contain the '=' character , what is arguably
quite common.

I would like to fix this with the attached debdiff.

Dear Maintainer,

Today I started getting delivery failures from a server about mails sent by
the www-data user. I've added a small script to find out what is sending
them. It returned this:

/var/lib/mediawiki/images/shwso.php(7) : eval()'d code(1) : eval()'d code(1)

I'm not sure what to make of it, and I must say I know very little about
mediawiki, but it looks a little like there is some sort of vulnerablity
being exploited (at least to my untrained eyes..)

Hi,

Moodle has several DFSG issues (e.g. #763800, #746594, #752615, #754565) and
unfixed security issues (#775842).

I have spoken to the maintainers - both upstream [1] and within Debian[2], and
they support the removal of moodle as they are no longer have enough time to
continue maintaining it.

Bug#776320: flashplugin-nonfree: Fullscreen videos cannot be exited with escape or by clicking "restore" button

2015-01-26 Thread Buddy Moore
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:3.6.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When going fullscreen on various sites (youtube to name one, but I have
verified with others), the escape key will not exit fullscreen mode. Luckily, I
can Ctrl+Shift+Arrow to another workspace to exit fullscreen, and that seems to
work consistently, but I am unable to click the app's "Exit Fullscreen"
implementation to return to the desktop.

I suspect this could be a problem with anything from X to my video driver, but
as I am not familiar with the source or the APIs, I figured I would start from
the presentation layer and dig deeper as necessary.

Thanks in advance for any investigation and or information!
