Bug#807083: RFS: isomd5sum/1:1.1.0-1

2015-12-04 Thread Ryan Finnie
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "isomd5sum"

 Package name: isomd5sum
 Version : 1:1.1.0-1
Upstream Author : Red Hat Anaconda (anaconda-devel-l...@redhat.com)
 URL : https://github.com/rhinstaller/isomd5sum
 License : GPLv2+
 Section : misc

It builds those binary packages:

  isomd5sum - ISO9660 checksum utilities
  python-pyisomd5sum - ISO9660 checksum Python module
  python3-pyisomd5sum - ISO9660 checksum Python 3 module

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/isomd5sum

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command
:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/i/isomd5sum/isomd5sum_1.1.0-1
.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

  * New upstream release
* Upstream has added Python 3 support (while maintaining Python 2
compatibility), so build python3-pyisomd5sum in addition to
  python-pyisomd5sum
  * Update Vcs location
  * Update Homepage/uscan to reflect upstream management via Github
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.6

Existing source package; I have per-package upload rights for
isomd5sum but am requesting sponsorship because NEW binary uploads are
not allowed by DMs, and this request adds python3-pyisomd5sum.

Regards,
Ryan Finnie

Hi,

Thanks for the interest in patching ca-certificates in the stable releases.

Could I perhaps convince you to file this (kind of) request as a pu bug?
They are much easier for us to track than mails to the mailing list.
I appreciate that you might have been sending this mail to avoid the
pu-bug. Unfortunately, we often end up forgetting the mail on our TODO
list if it is not listed in the bug tracker.

Thanks,
~Niels

It's not upstream or Red Hat issue, what I want to say that it's just not
cutting edge try. And I can understand including libgmp is not good for
minimal install, but 528kb is not huge, coreutils is 26 times bigger than it.
It's an allowable error, IMHO.

Bug#787455: Testdisk package must be split at least in 3 binary packages: PhotoRec, QPhotoRec and Testdisk

2015-12-04 Thread Baltix Linux
Hi,

In testdisk 7.0 developers added GUI tool - QPhotoRec and because of
this Testdisk package must be split at least in 3 binary packages:
PhotoRec, QPhotoRec and Testdisk
QPhotoRec is a Graphical User Interface (Qt based GUI) version of
PhotoRec. More user friendly, it recognizes the same file formats.

See https://launchpad.net/bugs/262943 and
http://cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_7.0_Release#PhotoRec_.26_QPhotoRec

Should I report separate bug about split?

Hi release team,

I just requested an upload of ca-certificates (20151204) to unstable,
and I would like to follow that up with stable-pu and oldstable-pu
updates to include the current Mozilla CA bundle changes for jessie and
wheezy.

I appears that I did a wheezy-pu update last year on #743156, but wanted
to clarify if these upcoming uploads will be acceptable.

I had tried different BIOS configurations, and in the scenario when it
worked, the last thing I changed in BIOS was an option related to UEFI:
"Boot Priority" [UEFI First]

So after system start I had "EFI USB Device (the one whit debian installer)

After pressing ok, debian installer started in Legacy boot mode and all
went ok

Hmm. I think :saveas should be successful here, but the 'nofile'
setting should be transfered to the alternate buffer that gets created.
“:saveas foo” should really act like a short-cut for “:w foo” and “:e

You can learn more about the cause by giving the system some means of
sending console output elsewhere, such as a serial link.

Same happens on my home desktop. The proprietary driver works fine, nouveau
causes crashes -- a hang then several seconds later (sometimes immediately)
a reboot.

I've reported it on the nouveau bugzilla:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79518
so if you obtain console logs you can check if it's the same issue.
Alas, my bug report got no response.

One thing to check would be whether new kernels solve the crashes -- the
nouveau driver got large changes in 4.3. Your kernel is 3.16, mine when I
last looked at the issue was 3.14.

Hi,

I'm building on jessie (for jessie-backports), adding

 * lmodern
 * libxml2-utils
 * libunicode-linebreak-perl

This appears to be sufficient here, but it only works reliably with
non-parallel builds, because the documentation build creates intermediate
XML files that are not known to make, so building epub and pdf in parallel
fails.

So, from the upstream POV, the main problem is that new clang releases often
break compatibility. This is usually caught by the test suite, but some stuff
might pass through and silently break applications. On the other hand there's
not a lot of stuff using libclang-perl so that's probably not much of a problem.
There's also probably some difference between the default version on Ubuntu,
Debian and other distros, so if someone tried to build with the wrong default
LLVM/Clang version then there's a good chance it will not work.

The other problem is that the default LLVM/Clang versions in Debian adapted
quite slowly to new upstream releases in the past, so if we (me, upstream)
wanted to switch to a newer version, then we'd have to wait for Debian (and
whatever other distro) to switch as well.

Overall I don't have a strong opinion on this, so if someone opens a pull
request on GitHub and manages to not break anything, I'll look into it (though
I won't have lots of time in the next few days/weeks). In the worst case it
will just get reverted in a future release (libclang-perl is really not that
much of an active project anyway).

Finally, to Lucas & co., I'm also open to adding co-maintainers upstream or
even just giving the project away since it seems that I've become the
bottleneck and I'm not really using the project myself. Since you are the ones
doing all the development lately I thought you might be interested. If you are,
just write me an email and we'll coordinate this (but keep in mind the above
about me not being much available in the short term).

Cheers

Bug#807080: libraw1394: Please drop obsolete MAKEDEV call

2015-12-04 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: libraw1394
Version: 2.1.1-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu xenial ubuntu-patch

Hi Guus,

With the recent change to debhelper to no longer call ldconfig from
maintainer scripts but from triggers instead (debhelper 9.20151004), a bug
has been exposed in the postinst of libraw1394-11 that will make the package
uninstallable after a rebuild with new debhelper.

The maintainer script looks for /dev/MAKEDEV, which is long obsolete. If it
finds it, it calls a series of commands:

  [ -x /dev/MAKEDEV ] && cd /dev && echo -n "Creating device node
/dev/raw1394... " && ./MAKEDEV raw1394 && echo "done."

If it *doesn't* find it, the above chain will exit non-zero.

Because this non-zero exit code is part of an && command list, it does *not*
trigger an immediate non-zero exit of the shell, in spite of using set -e.
So with the current build of the package, the maintainer script succeeds,
*because this is not the last command in the script* (it's followed by the
debhelper-provided call to ldconfig).

On a simple rebuild of the package in unstable, this command list *does*
become the last command in the script. The script therefore gets the exit
code of the last command, which is non-zero, and the package fails to
install.

This bug was discovered as part of the bootstrap of Ubuntu xenial for the
s390x architecture, where because libraw1394-11 is a newly-built package
using a current toolchain, it fails to install.

Since makedev is for all intents and purposes obsoleted by udev, I've
applied the attached patch in Ubuntu, which you are welcome to include in
Debian as well. I remember seeing some discussion in years past on
debian-devel about how to continue supporting makedev properly for those who
don't want to use udev; if you want to do mailing list archaeology I guess
that's still an option, but Ubuntu doesn't support running without udev so
for us it's sufficient to drop the maintainer script.

Marking this as 'grave' since the package becomes uninstallable on a
no-change rebuild.

The patch has been uploaded to Ubuntu with the following changelog
explanation:

  * Drop buggy call to obsolete /dev/MAKEDEV in the maintainer script, which
if it's the last command (which it is now that ldconfig is being handled
by trigger from debhelper) causes the package to fail to install.

Thanks for considering the patch.

I'm also seeing this.
We've got a bunch of other things running on this system, so I'm hesitant in
upgrading to Redmine 3.x, has anyone actually fixed this?

(This issue is driving my project manager absolutely bonkers.)

Bug#807079: openexr: additional template symbols that should be marked optional

2015-12-04 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: openexr
Version: 2.2.0-7
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu xenial ubuntu-patch

Dear maintainer,

The openexr 2.2.0-7 package has been synced from Debian experimental to
Ubuntu, where it fails to build on ppc64el. This is because the Ubuntu
ppc64el port uses -O3 as the default optimization level when building,
whereas the Debian port uses -O2. This results in a different set of
symbols being exported (vs. inlined) for templated methods that are not part
of the library's public ABI.

It's therefore appropriate to mark these symbols optional, in Debian as well
as Ubuntu. The attached patch does this for 64-bit archs - something
similar may be appropriate for 32-bit archs, though I'm not aware of anyone
doing -O3 builds for any 32-bit architectures.

This would also be unnecessary if a fix for bug #802317 were to be
implemented.

Thanks for considering the patch.

The problem is that dget is looking for a line with a 0 priority, but
apt now properly reports the priority.

Should be a simple fix. Thanks for the report!

If I'm not mistaken, this output is generated by webkit, which seems to be a
dependency that atril adopted when it got support for reading EPUB
documents.

I would sincerely like to have my copy of atril not loading webkit. In fact,
it would be so much better (especially for those creating reasonably small
live CDs) if the EPUB support were a plugin.

I think -mno-altivec is rather a quick workaround and __vector the
proper fix.

I looked at the resulting package. It has

Breaks: ppp (>= 2.4.7-2~), ppp (<< 2.4.7-1+~)

That's overly strict imho. I don't think I want to binNMU/upload NM
every time there is a debian release of ppp.
Could we relax those breaks to

Breaks: ppp (>= 2.4.8), ppp (<< 2.4.7)

It's unlikely that the plugin path changes in a Debian revision of ppp?

Bug#807015: xinit: startx freezes, mouse and keyboard don't work

2015-12-04 Thread Craig Sanders
I have managed to get startx working again, but I'm not sure if it's the
correct way. I added my user to the 'input' group after noticing the
following in /home/cas/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.1.log

[ 24633.131] (**) evdev: Dell Dell USB Keyboard: Device: "/dev/input/event1"
[ 24633.131] (EE) evdev: Dell Dell USB Keyboard: Unable to open evdev device
"/dev/input/event1".

$ ls -l /dev/input/event1
crw-rw 1 root input 13, 65 Dec 4 11:57 /dev/input/event1

and similar for the mouse.

Doing this allows the mouse and keyboard to work with startx but it
seems a rather hackish and possibly completely incorrect solution. I'm
going to have to do some research on where this input group came from
and whether it's appropriate for ordinary user accounts to be members.
I suspect it's a bad idea to do that.

I'm still getting the "xf86EnableIOPorts: failed to set IOPL for
I/O (Operation not permitted)" error message in startx.log - and
so far google has been absolutely useless in revealing what that's
about...several people have complained about it but no-one has come up
with a definitive reason for it.

Bug#807011: ksh: Conditional variable expansion problem in while loop

2015-12-04 Thread Nicholas Bamber

Satoh,

It is not releveant how this works in other shells (or even other
versions of ksh). All that matters is whether this syntax is defined by
the POSIX standard. It's not even documented as a bash feature let alone
a POSIX standard.

It may be of interest to you to be reminded that this version of ksh is
dead upstream, so even if I agreed it really was a problem it is very
possible the most I would do is tag it confirmed.

As it is I believe you are trying to use an undocumented syntax that
just happens to do something you like in lots of other shells. I would
however be interested to know what YOU think the "${v+set}" syntax
should do.

Bug#807074: fbreader: includes files with unclear DFSG-freeness and/or copyright status

2015-12-04 Thread Francesco Poli (wintermute)
Package: fbreader
Version: 0.10.7dfsg-4
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

Hello Eugene and thanks for maintaining FBReader in Debian!

I noticed something awkward in the debian/copyright file:

[...]
| Html entity files (fbreader/data/formats/docbook/*.ent) with
| these licenses:
|
|
|
|
[...]

The problem is: among these two licenses, the first one is non-free,
as it does not grant permission to modify (thus failing DFSG#3) and
only grants a limited permission to copy and use, restricting the
field of endeavor to conforming SGML systems and applications as
defined in ISO 8879 (thus failing DFSG#6).
The second license is instead fine for Debian main.

By only reading the debian/copyright file, it was not clear to me
whether both licenses apply (which would mean that these files
are non-free in fbreader) or, instead, whether the recipient may
choose which of the two licenses will apply (which would mean that
we can choose the second license and everything is fine for fbreader).

This freeness issue has been discussed on the debian-legal mailing list:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/11/msg00048.html
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/11/msg00049.html

During that debian-legal thread, I was pointed out that the licensing
of those files in fbreader is a bit different from what is documented
in the fbreader debian/copyright file:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/11/msg00050.html
And indeed, the files under consideration include that permission grant,
saying that the DFSG-free license applies, but that the files are
derived, in part, from files (copyrighted by ISO) which grant no
permission to modify.
As I said in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/11/msg00051.html
I cannot fully understand how those files could be derived from
the ISO files in the first place, if the ISO files are not legally
modifiable.
Maybe OASIS obtained a special permission from ISO, but this does
not seem to be documented.
Otherwise, this looks like a copyright violation, which, if confirmed,
would result in undistributable files.

An FTP Assitant confirmed that files under the ISO license under
consideration are not fit for Debian main:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/12/msg0.html

Please investigate and clarify and/or fix this issue.

Possible solutions I can think of:

 A) clarify the licensing status of those files and find out
that they are distributable under DFSG-free terms; explain
and document why this is the case

 B) get in touch with the copyright holder (ISO) and persuade
them to re-license the ISO files in a DFSG-free manner

 C) find DFSG-free replacements for the non-free files

 D) drop the non-free files from the package, assuming they are
not strictly needed for the package to provide significant
functionality

Thanks for your time!

Bug#807073: tracker.debian.org: duplicate news entries

2015-12-04 Thread Andreas Cadhalpun
Package: tracker.debian.org
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

there seems to be a recent regression in the handling of news, causing
duplicates.
Packages migrating to testing now produce three news entries like e.g. [1-4]:
"[2015-12-04] ffmpeg 7:2.8.3-1 MIGRATED to testing (Debian testing watch)"

It only produced one news entry for the last migration ten days ago.

This problem also affects e.g. exim4, libpcap and openjdk-8.

Best regards,
Andreas

Bug#586158: debootstrap fails if the directory contains a space

I took a look, and there were actually quite a few places, but with
the attached patch, `DEBOOTSTRAP_DIR="$PWD" ./debootstrap
--variant=minbase sid ~/temp/test\ space
http://httpredir.debian.org/debian` succeeds at least. :)

Not sure if this is something the debootstrap maintainers want to
accept going forward, but most of the codebase seemed to already be
quoting properly for this sort of thing so it seemed appropriate to
continue.

As a note to the debootstrap maintainers, if you _do_ want this patch
(or something like it), I'm happy to adjust and enhance it however so
that it's acceptable (even if that's just recreating the patch file in
a format that's easier for whatever method you prefer for applying
it)!

Bug#807072: moodle: please make the installation dependencies more flexible - add php5-fpm as alternative

2015-12-04 Thread Detlev Brodowski
Package: moodle
Version: 2.7.11+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Hello Maintainer,

please adjust the debian/control file so that moodle is installable without
php5-cgi or libapache2-mod-php5.
Since Apache 2.4 the webserver has its own fcgi module which can be used with
php5-fpm.

- libapache2-mod-php5 | php5-cgi
+ libapache2-mod-php5 | php5-cgi | php5-fpm

Kind regards
Detlev

Bug#807071: bsdutils: script(1) missing on kfreebsd, hurd

2015-12-04 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: bsdutils
Version: 1:2.27.1-1
Severity: important

It looks like script(1) is not available on kfreebsd (and, judging
from the package lists, hurd) any more. This is a most severe
regression.

it's like anti-design. that too… may I quote you on that?

Bug#807069: closed by Ben Hutchings (Re: Bug#807069: USB to serial(ttyUSB) port crash in debian. task khubd:369 blocked for more than 120 seconds.)

2015-12-04 Thread SaRaVanAn
Since our system is running in many live servers we can't simply upgrade
the linux to latest stable version. It would be great if any patch is
available to fix the issue so that we can port to an existing linux
version. It is a serious problem since it makes system unusable. Please
provide your inputs on this.

Bug#807070: Should istanbul be removed?

2015-12-04 Thread Bryan Quigley
Source: istanbul
Severity: serious

- Dead upstream (last release from 2006) -
https://git.gnome.org/browse/istanbul/tree/NEWS
- Depends on legacy libs
  - gstreamer 0.10- https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=785842
  - python-gnome2 - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=790609
 - Pretty much unused - Recent in popcon is 22, installed is 661.

It has a number of other open bugs, choppy video, and I know it's not
Debian's issue but it doesn't work on Ubuntu's Unity (and possibly
other modern DE).

No reverse-depends.

Thanks!

Hello,

Package kmix_4:15.08.1-1 FTBFS on mips, mipsel, mips64el and other
architectures with following message:

Package also fails on other arch’s including amd64 on my local build (sbuild).

If this issue is resolved package later fails on MIPS with following message:

To workaround this issue flag "--as-needed" is disabled.
After that change package was built successfully on MIPS.

Similar issue is discussed on debian-mips mailing list:

Patches resolving this issues are attached.

Bug#807069: USB to serial(ttyUSB) port crash in debian. task khubd:369 blocked for more than 120 seconds.

2015-12-04 Thread SaRaVanAn
Package: linux-source

Version: 3.12

We are using sierra modem for 4G LTE networks. we used to communicate
with modem using AT commands via ttyUSB ports.
Recently we observed a crash in usb driver interface when we try to
post some AT commands. After the crash the kernel seems to be hanged.
We were not able to execute any commands or open a new tty terminal.
Even reboot command was not working fine.
The system went to completely unusable/unstable state. It recovered
only after hard reboot.

Bug#586158: debootstrap fails if the directory contains a space

2015-12-04 Thread Matthijs Kooijman
Package: debootstrap
Version: 1.0.75
Followup-For: Bug #586158

Hi,

it seems this problem is still present in the most recent version, but
manifests differently (possibly earlier, in addition to the failure
reported back in 2010, dunno). Here's what I did:

matthijs@grubby:~/docs/Virtual machines$ sudo debootstrap sid sid-chroot
http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/
I: Retrieving Release
I: Retrieving Release.gpg
I: Checking Release signature

sed: can't read /home/matthijs/docs/Virtual: No such file or directory

Apparently the path isn't escaped properly when passing it to sed. I
haven't tried fixing it, or seeing if there are other problems, though.

Bug#807015: xinit: startx freezes, mouse and keyboard don't work

On Fri, Dec 04, 2015 at 01:57:53PM +0100, Laurent Bigonville wrote:

Nope, this particular machine is still sysvinit.

It also has over 20 years worth of cruft on it, as i first built it in
1994 and have continuously upgraded it (with debian unstable) ever since.

> is libpam-systemd installed on your machine?

Yes, because without it several important packages would be uninstalled,
including libvirt packages for some unfathomable reason - it's impossible to
have a completely non-systemd machine in debian, you can either have systemd
or you can have a hybrid of systemd + whatever else. systemd, or at least
parts of it, is mandatory.

It is not enabled in /etc/pam.d/ though. None of the files in there use
it.

and, yes, I have tried it with libpam_systemd enabled. Makes no difference.

> If it's not the case, try to install xserver-xorg-legacy and look at

What good would that do? What would it fix, and how? I am running
neither legacy drivers nor non-linux kernels.

startx worked without this until recently, i'd rather not digress into
installing and configuring random packages unless there's a good and
clearly defined reason for it.

Bug#774149: fixing the stable package

2015-12-04 Thread Faheem Mitha

On Fri, 4 Dec 2015, Jürgen Braun wrote:

Hi all,

the Patch from Christian works for me as well with one exception. I had
to remove the file /lib/udev/rules.d/usbmount.rules after creating
/etc/udev/rules.d/usbmount.rules. If I do not remove the original file,
usbmount is called twice which leads to a double mount of the usb flash
drive:

$mount|grep sdd1
/dev/sdd1 on /media/usb1 type ext2
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,user_xattr,acl)
/dev/sdd1 on /media/usb2 type ext2
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,user_xattr,acl)

I've successfully tested ext2, vfat and ntfs based usb flash drives so
far using this patch.

I guess this is the systemd way to get this done. As far as I understood
Christians patch, this adds a dependency to systemd (since it is using
systemd-escape). I am not sure if this is the *best* way to do.

How to deal with systems using sysvinit or upstart?

I forgot to say that I replaced the old usbmount.rules with the old ones.
Having two didn't make sense to me.

So usbmount.rules went into /lib/udev/rules.d. Also, I put
usbmount@.service in /lib/systemd/system.

This was what lintian seemed to think was correct. anyway. I didn't check
any documentation about this.

I've no idea whether how or if this works for systems not using systemd.

Right. I hadn't noticed the linux-only part before. These tests came
in with a fix for a problem reported on Debian PPC64:

To me the configuration in that ticket looks awfully similar to the
configuration that now sees test failures, but I could be missing
something.

On 32-bit Darwin PPC (where the tests are skipped), I see the same
output running the test code as is in your log. E.g., your log has:

t/op/sprintf2 . #
Failed test 1451 - at op/sprintf2.t line 671
# got '0x1p+1020
# '
# expected /(?^:^0x1.0{522}1p\+1020$)/

0x1p+1020

Again: while the package works in stretch and sid, it doesn't work in
jessie. I am not saying the package should be removed from testing, but
then this should be marked as "grave" nevertheless, which will *not*
make it removed from testing, if a "fixed" version is present there.

*not* marking this as grave will make it difficult to have a stable
update to fix this bug.

Also, the package is "unusable or mostly so", which seems to be a
sufficient condition for making the bug as grave, according to the very
description you are quoting.

I am therefore reverting part of your changes to mark the bug as
"reproducible, grave and found in jessie". I do not think this will make
it drop from testing.

update-apt-xapian-index now barfs on this upercase package too.

I agree the package was likely built on a Debian-less system with "ar + tar"
and without lintian.

It looks like in some cases the package name is converted to lowercase
and in other cases not.

Package: synaptic
Version: 0.81.4+b2
Severity: normal

Recently when I start synaptic from a non root user, I would get prompted for
the Administrator password. I would enter the root password and synaptic would
tell me the password was wrong. I know the password is right. I was having to
su and then start synaptic. Since something was wrong with synaptic, I removed
everything in ~.gnome2/keyrings in order to clear out anything in there
synaptic may have been trying to use. Since I did that, synaptic will not
start. When I try to run it from the menu of a non root user, nothing ever
shows up. If I grep for synaptic I see synaptic -pkexec processes running. If
I run synaptic -pkexec from a terminal, it just hangs and nothing ever shows.

I am not discounting your circumstances, Antoine, but I don't think the
package should be removed from testing because you can't build an image
under your particular circumstances. The package is known to be working
fine in testing, so the issue is clearly not release critical. See
https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities:

  grave

makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes data
loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts
of users who use the package.

Severities such as grave and critical should be reserved for extenuating
circumstances only, which do not apply in this case.

Bug#774149: fixing the stable package

2015-12-04 Thread Jürgen Braun
Hi all,

the Patch from Christian works for me as well with one exception. I had
to remove the file /lib/udev/rules.d/usbmount.rules after creating
/etc/udev/rules.d/usbmount.rules. If I do not remove the original file,
usbmount is called twice which leads to a double mount of the usb flash
drive:

$mount|grep sdd1
/dev/sdd1 on /media/usb1 type ext2
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,user_xattr,acl)
/dev/sdd1 on /media/usb2 type ext2
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,user_xattr,acl)

I've successfully tested ext2, vfat and ntfs based usb flash drives so
far using this patch.

I guess this is the systemd way to get this done.
As far as I understood Christians patch, this adds a dependency to
systemd (since it is using systemd-escape). I am not sure if this is the
*best* way to do.

How to deal with systems using sysvinit or upstart?

best regards,
Jürgen

Bug#807062: Excessive memory usage with large contacts database

2015-12-04 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: gnome-contacts
Version: 3.18.1-1
Severity: important

I have evolution hooked up to a large contacts database (corporate
address book). Recently, gnome-contacts (running in the background of
the GNOME session, without anything requesting contacts) started using
an excessive amount of memory: 7GB+ before it got killed by the OOM
killer, and just before doing so it very nearly froze my X session.

No matter how big the contacts database is, gnome-contacts should not
use that much memory; map the contacts from disk if necessary, but don't
copy them into memory.

Furthermore, it doesn't seem at all obvious to me why gnome-contacts
needs to run at all in the background of my session, as I have not run
anything that would need access to contacts.

Regarding the overall philosophy behind mail / Mail / mailx and
S-nail it has to be said that compatibility flags like *bsdcompat*
etc. will rather get less than more. And i'm all for that since
it is true that mail never has been stable and always evolved,
which M. Douglas McIlroy clearly analyses in his article "A
Research UNIX Reader: Annotated Excerpts from the Programmer’s
Manual, 1971-1986":

Electronic mail was there from the start. Never satisfied with its
exact behavior, everybody touched it at one time or another:

Note that v14.9 says more on this (the above is an excerpt of the
README file on the development branch).

S-nail will get more compatible with the actual POSIX mailx
standard (as that becomes possible because of codebase state
changes) and add its own features on top. (After shrinking to
a healthy state that is. And what i hope as of today. Say.)

It is true that i'm removing some compatibility settings, e.g.,
v14.9 will obsolete support of the SUSV3 environment variable,
which sole purpose is to change the default setting of the
*attrlist* variable, which can be helped by doing "? set
attrlist='NU *HMFAT+-$~'". I think this is an acceptable builtin
complexity reduction, especially given the long obsoletion time.

 |from the postinst that s-nail is supposed to as well... but it didn't

O!

 |update-alternatives --auto mailx got it to work. I then purged
 |heirloom-mailx.

Wow. Thank you!

P.S.:
S-nail has a long way to go. Until then it will introduce
backward incompatible changes (e.g., colour support changes
completely in v14.9) and will (temporarily) loose features (e.g.,
no IMAP in v14.9+). The codebase comes from the 70s and has been
designed in and for completely different circumstances. I hope
i can go that way and that users follow there, too. It will be
a long and winding road, anyway.
Ciao!

fwiw, here's a patch that does that.

The second "don't update" hunk also changes the behaviour in another way
- currently, if you have a hint for foo and foo is then removed from
unstable, a subsequent "hint clean" will drop the hint; after my update,
that will no longer happen. However, I think this is actually better,
for two reasons:

- currently "easy foo" would simply be replaced by "# No packages left
in hint", which isn't particularly helpful
- "easy foo bar" will be replaced by "easy bar", with no indication that
the hint has been changed. I don't think "clean" should make changes
like that.

Bug#807060: cannot install libjpeg62

2015-12-04 Thread Brent S Elmer
Package: libjpeg62
Severity: normal

I am trying to install libjpeg62 on a stretch computer that was upgraded from
jessie. libjpeg62-turbo is installed. It looks like libjpeg62 has replaced
libjpeg62-turbo but when I try to install libjpeg62, a lot of packages want to
be uninstalled. My system is totally up to date for stretch. Is the libjpeg62
transition not complete yet?

Bug#763869: seems like this is already fixed in util-linux version of sulogin

2015-12-04 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Control: fixed -1 2.88dsf-59.2

Hello!

Marking this as fixed in the version which no longer ships
sulogin (in favour of letting util-linux ship sulogin).
The util-linux sulogin does not seem to be affected by this issue.
Leaving this open in case anyone wants to look into pushing
a fix into stable (Jessie), where sysvinit sulogin is still used.

Bug#599690: /usr/bin/nm-applet: Still an issue

2015-12-04 Thread Kyle Bentley
Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 0.9.10.0-2
Followup-For: Bug #599690

After startup to ready desktop, the nm-applet appears to be trying to connect
to a wireless network. As soon as I try to click on it, it crashes. It then
has to be restarted. Afterwards it usually behaves fine, but the steps are
definitely reproducable.

Hello Raphael,

thanks for your work on this bug. We intend to upload version 1.51 of
bouncycastle to unstable this weekend since we were able to upgrade all
reverse-dependencies except one so far. Are there any new information
regarding the patches for Jessie? Shall we still wait with an upload or
is it safe to use the three existing patches?

Markus

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for pacman (versioned as 10-17.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/10. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

The upload adds a new desktop file and icon and improves the desktop
integration of pacman. It also fixes two Lintian errors and several
warnings.

doublekind='4'; looks like those tests get run only on linux
with that doublekind.

I'm attaching 'perl -V' output for all the failing platforms: powerpc
s390x and ppc64. All are big-endian, and the latter two are 64-bit. All
have doublekind=4.

Bug#806687: tecnoballz: Gigablitz jauge not reset when non-bottom bumper is hit

2015-12-04 Thread Bruno Ethvignot

hello Markus, hello Celelibi,

2015-11-30 06:19 UTC+01:00, Celelibi :

Not sure if this is a bug or if it is on purpose.
The gigablitz jauge is reset when the bottom bumper is hit by a ball. I
guess this is to prevent the player from easily clearing the level with
2 gigablitz by blocking the ball vertically.
However, the jauge is not reset when the ball hit any other bumper.

This is normal and expected behavior. The gigablitz gauge is reset
*only* when the ball hits the bottom bumper.

Best regards,

python-backports.ssl-match-hostname is not present in wheezy, even in

I'll try to ask for a backport in the mailing list.

Bug#650132: hint: binary to source mapping has unhelpful side-effects

After another of my periodic pokes at this, the main problem is that I
can't see an easy way of fixing it without bending the encapsulation.

"clean" uses the HintFileParagraph class to represent the lines it has
read from the hint file, which in turn instantiates a number of Hint
objects. The Hint class's constructor then parses the package list,
including performing the binary to source mappings. By this point, the
knowledge of which subcommand of "hint" was used is well and truly
invisible.

We could extend the Hint class to take keyword arguments so that the
package mapping could be disabled when required, but this would then
somehow need to be communicated via HintFileParagraph, which feels a
little dirty.

Admittedly, the HintFileParagraph is only used by the clean action, so
we could simply say that the class will not modify its input, and thus
have it pass a "don't do binary to source mappings" flag to the Hint
class.

Thoughts welcome, before I either decide that the above is a silly idea,
or just do it. :-)

Adam

Bug#487276: pacman: diff for NMU version 10-17.1

2015-12-04 Thread Markus Koschany
Control: tags 487276 + pending

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for pacman (versioned as 10-17.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/10. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

The upload adds a new desktop file and icon and improves the desktop
integration of pacman. It also fixes two Lintian errors and several
warnings.

I have a request with the release team be able to use the upstream

Thanks for your work!

Unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to test it. If it "seems

can go wrong. I recommend that you apply your patch and let the
community test it as part of unstable/testing.

Bug#807057: Incorrect PRF used by tls1_export_keying_material() with TLS 1.2

2015-12-04 Thread Tobias Brunner
Package: libssl1.0.0
Version: 1.0.1e-2+deb7u18

When calling tls1_PRF() tls1_export_keying_material() directly passes
the value of algorithm2 instead of using ssl_get_algorithm2(), which
overrides the default PRF algorithm when TLS 1.2 is used. Therefore,
the keying material is actually derived using the old PRF (combination
of MD5/SHA1), which breaks e.g. EAP-TLS with newer versions of FreeRADIUS.

The problem is corrected in later versions of OpenSSL. The fix can be
found at [1].

It might be practical and might work when grantpt() is preceded by the
call to posix_openpt(). It might break some programs which do other
things in between and which really assume that grantpt() is going to do
what it is supposed to do. It might even have some security implications.

And it will also likely be a POSIX violation as it clearly precise the
mode and the group to be used.

That's totally stupid and it seems to be also the case for chroots. And
it seems that at least cowbuilder is mounting /dev/pts in the chroot

Bug#807056: tcptrack: FTBFS: error: #warning "_BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE are deprecated, use _DEFAULT_SOURCE" [-Werror=cpp]

2015-12-04 Thread Sven Joachim
Source: tcptrack
Version: 1.4.2-1
Severity: serious

Your package FTBFS with glibc 2.21, see the recent build log on
armel[1]:

,

| # warning "_BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE are deprecated, use _DEFAULT_SOURCE"
|^
| cc1plus: all warnings being treated as errors
`

Since glibc 2.20, _BSD_SOURCE is deprecated, see the NEWS file:

,
| * The _BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE feature test macros are no longer
| supported; they now act the same as _DEFAULT_SOURCE (but generate a
| warning). Except for cases where _BSD_SOURCE enabled BSD interfaces that
| conflicted with POSIX (support for which was removed in 2.19), the
| interfaces those macros enabled remain available when compiling with
| _GNU_SOURCE defined, with _DEFAULT_SOURCE defined, or without any feature
| test macros defined.
`

Various files in the src/ directory #define _BSD_SOURCE, and since
src/Makefile.am sets AM_CXXFLAGS = -Werror -Wno-deprecated -Wall, the
deprecation warning is turned into a fatal error.

Thanks guys, uploaded with these changes.

If Alessandro has better ideas or finds a way to add a dynamic
version check upstream, we can always revisit this fix.

Cheers,

Bug#806686: ibus-chewing: FTBFS with cmake-fedora/2.4.4-1

2015-12-04 Thread 陳昌倬
Control: reassign -1 cmake-fedora 2.4.4-1

After discussing with upstream [0], we found that the release tarball
for cmake-fedora 2.4.4 in [1] does not match the git tag in [2], and
this issue gone when using git tag version of cmake-fedora.

In order to fix this issue, I will upload the git snapshot version of
cmake-fedora.

Bug#774149: fixing the stable package

2015-12-04 Thread Faheem Mitha

[CCs to suitable-seeming people. If you are getting this email via the
BTS too, sorry about the noise, but the BTS really should say who is
subscribed.]

Hi,

The patch by Christian Weinberger fixes the problem for me, though I don't
really understand it.

It seems this bug breaks usbmount in stable, at least for me, and (it
seems) others too. Is this a candidate for a stable fix? I'm willing to
make a fix and do an upload if there is someone out there who will sponsor
me. Or should I submit a pull request? And if so, where?

Oh, but first, could we get come concensus that the Christian patch is the
correct way to go? It looks good to me, but I don't understand the context
well enough to say.

  Regard, Faheem Mitha

Bug#803717: postinst: mountpoint: not found; the java command requires a mounted proc fs (/proc)

2015-12-04 Thread Paul Boddie
Hello,

I recently experienced this problem when installing/configuring the package in
a chroot. The underlying cause is that the initscripts package is not present,
which might be something that a conventional Debian installation provides, but
which might not be something provided by a debootstrap installation.

Working around the problem is merely a matter of installing initscripts, but
it might be helpful if the dependencies for openjdk-7-jre-headless insist on
this package. I'm not sure whether it is a package that should be assumed to
be present (and thus can be omitted from dependencies), but if so, then we
have found a loophole/shortcoming in the relevant packaging policy.

Anyway, I hope this report helps others with the problem!

Paul

Bug#806980: exim4: Please split log messages

Please consider wording your wishes more clearly and filing upstream
issues directly with upsteam.

Debian is unlikely to modify exim's sources in a way that a Debian
exim logs differently from a non-Debian exim for interoperability
reasons.

Greetings
Marc
