Bug#821262: RFP: golang-github-pearkes-cloudflare -- Go library for using the CloudFlare API

2016-04-16 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Control: block 808940 by -1

* Package name: golang-github-pearkes-cloudflare
  Version : 0.0~git20160103.765ac18
  Upstream Author : Jack Pearkes
* URL : https://github.com/pearkes/cloudflare
* License : MPL-2.0
  Programming Lang: Go
Description : Go library for using the CloudFlare API

This package provides the cloudflare package which offers an interface to the
CloudFlare gAPI. It's intentionally designed to make heavy use of built-ins and
strings in place of custom data structures and proper types. It also only
implements
specific endpoints, and doesn't have full API coverage.

This is a requirement for Terraform.

Bug#821056: u-boot-tools: no example /etc/fw_env.config files for openrd devices

2016-04-16 Thread Rick Thomas
Re-reading this, I realize that I said “0x8” for the environment location
of legacy u-boot. But when I went to test it, the true value turned out to be
“0xa”.

Sorry for the confusion. The latter value (0xa) is correct.

Rick

PS: Just out of curiosity, was there a reason behind the change? Or was it
just one of those things that “seemed like a good idea at the time” ?

Bug#813707: steam:i386: Several games do not work with current libasound

2016-04-16 Thread Salvo Tomaselli
Hello,

I found a workaround long ago. It was sufficient to delete all libasound .so
files from the ubuntu distribution located in .steam.

However, I have no backup to go back, and I don't know if they fixed it or if
my workaround is still in place.

I'd say that if you can play team fortress 2 (free to play) and hear audio,
probably the problem was solved.

Bug#820970: 32 bit Windows 10 seems to have worked

2016-04-16 Thread Kingsley G. Morse Jr.
At least for me, qemu seems to have worked
after switching from trying to install a
64 bit guest to 32 bits.

The command I used was:

user$ qemu-system-i386 -m 2000 -drive file=empty.raw,format=raw -cdrom
32BIT.ISO -boot d -localtime -enable-kvm

I suspect a bug in qemu's ability to run a 64 bit
guest on a 32 bit architecture and/or Linux
kernel.

I hope that helps,
Kingsley

2016-04-16 Thread Evan Hanson
Hi Mattia,

Thanks for the nudge. When #771102 was raised, I tried to contact
upstream regarding the potential licensing issues but received no
response, and there the bug sat. It's now been quite some time, however,
and I agree something should be done.

I'll make one more attempt to bring the issue to the developer's
attention, but failing a response and positive resolution I agree that
the package should be be removed.

2016-04-16 Thread Ben Finney
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Howdy,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package ‘python-adventure’.

Package name: python-adventure
Version : 1.4-1
Upstream Author : Brandon Rhodes
  * URL : https://pypi.python.org/pypi/adventure/
  * License : Apache License 2.0
Section : games

Description: Colossal Cave Adventure game

Explore Colossal Cave, where others have found fortunes in
treasure and gold, though it is rumored that some who enter
are never seen again.
.
Colossal Cave Adventure (originally named “ADVENT” or
“Adventure”) is the seminal text adventure game, written by
Will Crowther and Don Woods.
.
This is a re-implementation of the “350-point” version, using
the same game content from the PDP-10 source code of the late
1970s.
.
It uses the original text exactly, and emits responses slow
enough to read as the contemporary terminal interfaces did.

It builds those binary packages:

* adventure-common - Colossal Cave Adventure game — common files
* colossal-cave-adventure - Colossal Cave Adventure game
* python3-adventure - Colossal Cave Adventure game — Python 3

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/python-adventure

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x

Bug#821259: libjpeg-progs: jpegtran -drop patch missing

2016-04-16 Thread Ram Kromberg
Package: libjpeg-progs
Version: 1:9b-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Bug #160390 either regressed or was erroneously closed to begin with. The -drop
patch, as released in http://jpegclub.org/jpegtran/ under
http://jpegclub.org/droppatch.v9b.tar.gz is not merged into the package.

It is quite trivial to patch and compile the package following the usual "sudo
apt-get build-dep libjpeg-progs", "apt-get source libjpeg-progs" and simply
overriding the three source files to apply the patch. "configure" and "make
install" compile and deploy to /usr/local/ successfully. Once deployed, The
-drop lossless merging functionality works as expected.

To clarify on this decade old bug, this isn't a mixup between
libjpeg-turbo-progs and libjpeg-progs. A separate request has been raised in
libjpeg-turbo-progs upstream (
https://github.com/libjpeg-turbo/libjpeg-turbo/issues/71 ) regarding this
functionality, but that does not concern this issue directly since the code
bases have drifted apart over the years rendering the -drop patch incompatible
as a drop-in patch.

Bug#821255: sane-backends: saned option to report network-attached devices

2016-04-16 Thread Dhionel Díaz
Source: sane-backends
Version: 1.0.25-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

Recently I needed to implement access control to a network-attached
scanner and found out saned can be used for that if it's made to report
network-attached devices. Then I found that a patch to implement this
feature was sent upstream in 2014 but it has not been included yet.
After some minor changes I've applied that patch to the current
sane-backends source and I've verified that it works as expected; the
network-attached scanner is reported by saned and it can successfully be
used with xsane.

Attached you will find a debdiff with the updated patch. I think that
the possibility of implementing access control to a network-attached
device is an useful feature that may be considered for inclusion ahead
of upstream.

Best regards,

Ooh, this was a tough one. Make stumble over a directory named 'build'

Apr 16 15:02:40 sierra systemd[1]: Unit xendomains.service entered failed
state.

That the 51st domain, around 60% of the way through the list of domains
it should have started.

Once I'd realised only some of the domains were started I reran "service
xendomains start" and it finished the job.

So, is there a built in timeout of ~5 minutes here that I need to
increase?

I see that the generated /run/systemd/generator.late/xendomains.service
file contains:

.
.
[Service]
Type=forking
Restart=no
TimeoutSec=5min
.
.

So that's probably what is being hit, but I cannot work out how to make
the generator apply a longer timeout.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Andy

From: Bart Champagne

Mail on request of cnote, regarding the bad sync status of the Skynet
(now Belgacom/Proximus) Debian mirror.

My logs specifically matter for the ISO images, as
Belgacom/Skynet/Proximus grabs them from the mirror I'm hosting
(ftp.be.debian.org ), but I'm worried for the
general health of their mirror as well.

Last successful sync in 2015:
2015/09/07 16:00:01 [12846] connect from mirror005.isp.belgacom.be
(195.238.1.7)
2015/09/07 16:00:01 [12846] rsync on debian-cd/ from

2015/09/07 16:00:01 [12846] sent 86868 bytes received 425 bytes total
size 164482160580

Their next sync happened right when the Jessie 8.2 ISO files were being
regenerated:

After that one, they still connected, but nothing got transferred.

This continued for months !

there's this file :

The http link ( http://ftp.debian.skynet.be/ftp/debian/, taken from the
mirror list) doesn't even work anymore.
Their cdimage (and entire contents of http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/) seems
to have vanished recently too.
No idea what their plan or update strategy is but I guess they're
silently dropping it.

I have no grudge against them, but I'd call their mirror "tainted" at best.
If they don't reply to inquiries, I'd suggest to drop 'em as a listed
mirror as many installs probably try to update using this out-of-sync
mirror.

Bart

Below the message I sent the mirror admin on September 8, 2015.
I had sent them an e-mail on 29/04/2014 as well, asking if they couldn't
generate the iso's locally - never got a reply but I did get a Read Receipt.

That makes sense, because everyone on the network can read any file
exposed over TFTP.  You're asking us to help you maintain a security
hole, and I refuse to do that.

running MODULES=most and delivering the union of the two sets?

We could do, but I think it's a useful feature that MODULES=most is
hardware-independent and I don't want to change that.

I've gradually been moving the behaviour of MODULES=most toward
including entire classes of drivers and I'd prefer to handle this the
same way.

Bug#821251: Broken Print/Email to PDF and Postscript due to LaTeX::driver bug

2016-04-16 Thread Robert James Clay
Package: ledgersmb
Found: 1.3.40-1
Found: 1.3.46-1
Severity: normal

LaTeX::driver has a bug that forces the use of xelatex to render all pdf or
postscript source material. It also has a bug that causes data to be dumped to
stdout. These cause the following issues

1. All installations will fail if xelatex packages are not installed

2. You can't generate postscript output, it always generates PDF output
instead

3. You can't currently use TeX templates that are not valid XeLaTeX
Instead you get errors like "Package inputenc Error: inputenc is not designed
for xetex or luatex"

4. You probably can't print to a printer on any system that requires
postscript instead of PDF to be sent to lpr

To work around 1.

install system packages for xelatex

To work around 2.

Unfortunately no work around is available, you can't generate postscript
output for the moment

To work around 3.

Unfortunately the only work around available it to
You can convert your templates to XeLaTeX.
Or patch /usr/share/perl5/LaTeX/Driver.pm line 78 to read
pdf => [ 'pdflatex' ]

It may be possible to use different printer drivers, or a different printer
until LaTeX is fixed. Otherwise there is no workaround for now

Hi,

beginning with:
https://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/kfreebsd-amd64/20160406-00:06/build_netboot-gtk-10.log

When makefs created the initramfs, it had an error, but left a
broken/truncated output file. Within the case statement, an error there
is ignored and gzip will try to compress the output file. If that
succeeds, it returns a success status to make, and the build
continues...

This could affect linux too. A patch is attached; I'll commit it as
soon as the BTS gives me a bug number. Thanks!

Bug#821247: ITP: facedetect -- simple face detector for batch processing

2016-04-16 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: facedetect
  Version : 0.0.+20150428
  Upstream Author : "Yuri D’Elia"
* URL : https://github.com/wavexx/facedetect
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : simple face detector for batch processing
Facedetect is a simple face detector for batch processing. It answers
the basic question: "Is there a face in this image?" and gives back
either an exit code or the coordinates of each detected face in the
 standard output.
 .
The aim is to provide a basic command-line interface that's consistent
and easy to use with software such as ImageMagick, while progressively
improving the detection algorithm over time.
 .
facedetect is used in software such as fgallery to improve the thumbnail
cutting region, so that faces are always centered.

Does this work with the package in Debian currently (u-boot 2016.03+)?

Is it possible to also include commented out versions with some of the
legacy offsets with comments explaining what versions it may apply to?

I don't know what those offsets might be, but it would be good to
document what versions the offsets are for, in case someone is using an
older/vendor u-boot with different offsets.

The same is true for anything in /etc/X11/Xsession.d (which is how .gnomerc
is connected up) - quite reasonably, because Wayland isn't X, but that does
cause problems for users or external packages that rely on Xsession.d for
integration glue. The GNOME+Wayland session also doesn't run ~/.xinitrc,
or any shell initialization glue (~/.bashrc or whatever).

The broader upstream bug is that there's no convenient way to set
user-specific environment variables for the session at all:
.

Is ~/.gnomerc an upstream thing, or is it Debian-specific? The
Xsession.d snippet is certainly a Debian addition.

Bug#821237: abduco: should it be removed from Debian?

2016-04-16 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Source: abduco
Version: 0.1-2
Severity: serious

Dear maintainer,

I find this package to not be maintained at all, with a single upload in
2014 summer, and nothing more after it, even if a release critical bug
has been rised only 4 months later.

In fact, abduco missed the Jessie release.

Furthermore
 * the popcon of the package is quite low (26 while writing this).
 * there are several new upstream releases, but 1/ no visible action of
working on them from the maintainer 2/ nobody opened a bug asking for
   them.

I'm going to ask for removal of this package if nothing happens in the
following two weeks.

Bug#821235: man: apostrophe/single quote in title results in undefined macro \*(AQ

2016-04-16 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: docbook-xsl
Version: 1.79.1+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

The ostree package has man pages written in Docbook XML and processed into
man pages via docbook.xsl. A couple of them have apostrophes/single quotes
(U+0027 APOSTROPHE) in a section's title:

'Generate' Options

and

'Add' Options

In the man page output, this looks like:

.SH "\*(AQADD\*(AQ OPTIONS"
.PP
\fB\-\-set\fR="KEY=VALUE"

leading to these errors from man, which are passed on by lintian:

% man --warnings /usr/share/man/man1/ostree-remote.1.gz >/dev/null
:62: warning: macro `AQ' not defined

The preamble generated by docbook-xsl does define a macro named Aq
to represent apostrophes, if I'm reading it correctly (I don't really
understand the finer points of this typesetting language though).

I suspect that the bug might be that U+0027 is replaced with \*(Aq
before case-folding the heading to upper-case. If my theory is right,
the other way round would work, i.e. docbook-xsl should upper-case the
text first, and replace U+0027 with \*(Aq afterwards.

Regards,
S

Yeah, without an fw_env.config, fw_printenv defaults to some built-in
values.

In general, since there are so many platforms in u-boot, details for
specific boards are provided by folks who have those boards to test and
verify.

Allwinner/sunxi boards are a little difficult, as u-boot-sunxi and
u-boot mainline may have different offsets, and given boards may also
have different offsets. So documenting the right offsets may depend on
what version of u-boot installed.

There are a number of example fw_env.config shipped in the u-boot-tools
package, but it is not comprehensive for all the supported platforms.

He didn't mention it in the bug report, but Alex was talking about his
problem on irc beforehand. He's booting in UEFI mode (and hence using
Grub rather than isolinux). While it's possible to set extra
variables on the Grub command line, it's much more involved and likely
to be very difficult for a sight-impaired user.

Ah, I missed that thread. It would be much easier for people using
Grub if we added an extra menu level, definitely.

Bug#819664: Re-organise the CD / download pages to make them more useful

An overhaul of the getting Debian pages is indeed long overdue.

Adrian Gibanel had some great ideas about presentation of derivatives
stuff on the website, perhaps he has some about reorganising the
'getting Debian' section of the website. Adrian, the initial proposal
and discussion is available here:

https://bugs.debian.org/819664

A)

So, here there is my advice on how to reorganise 'getting Debian' (
https://www.debian.org/distrib/index.en.html ).

Every advice I give on redesigning Debian webpage is based on
dividing the page on a per-user or per-role basis. I will try to apply
that policy into 'getting Debian' and trying to add the requested
additional information about how to check your iso.

I know that dividing the page on a per-user or per-role basis is not
useful or convenient for every page but hopefully me trying to think
outside the box will give you some ideas.

B)

Some thoughts after reading what I have written as 'Getting Debian'
page content.

  * The VERB + your + SOMETHING is a pun on the Starship Troopers film
army/war ads. But, anyways, I feel something similar is needed to link
each of the steps and make the reader think he is reading a well thought
guide and not just unconnected steps put together.

  * I have left many other roles (datacenter sysadmin, cloud sysadmin)
because I think that with three examples you get the idea.

  * You can see how the newbies (Newcomer - Installing it, Computer
Sysadmin - Newbie) get an installation disk with an specific flavour
(maybe you just need to give them netinst too? I don't know.) The
"Computer Sysadmin - Advanced" gets a netinst image as you might expect.

This is probably the thing that needs the most to be fixed with the
current scenario where someone who visits: debian.org gets a link to a
netinst image while not being clear if they need that media at all or not.

  * You can see that each one of the options do not end on the usual
"How to burn into CD" or even "How to boot" but try to get people
involved somehow into Debian.

  * Not sure if it would be better to advice to check the Blends in the
first place for the "Computer System - Newbie" just in case one of them
fits his needs.

  * Cloud sysadmin would probably get directed to Cloud based (Amazon,
Azure, ...) base downloads.

  * Datacenter sysadmin would probably get many downloads offered.

  * About the reusing data (which it's what Steve McIntyre was
complaining) I guess I would use "include pages" for each one of the
steps which are duplicated in each of the roles so that we don't have to
maintain (n roles) times (m steps).

  * I have invented some pages/terms which probably don't exist in
actual Debian (website), or maybe they exist but I don't know which are
their proper names.

C) Possible 'Getting Debian' page content:

Debian is for everyone. We will try to guide you to get the best
media of Debian for you. Please choose your profile / role.

This is a useful program for writing Haskell programs that plugs nicely
into popular text editors (haskell-mode has a command to run it).

* Package name: stylish-haskell

Well, it's not really the ncurses installer which matters, but selecting
the dark theme. Now, a shortcut is something being considered, see

Hi, some general nitpicks.

You really should team-maintain it
https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=pkg-mozext-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
should be the right place.

licenses in debian/copyright needs to be verbose, not links

you have to open an ITP bug, then upload on mentors.debian.org
and ask an RFS bug.

somebody from pkg-mozext might give you a review of the package after that :)

(ccing Sean, who is doing a great job on pkg-mozext :p )

thanks for the work!

I've uploaded that version to jessie-backports so it is available

I've had good results with “repacksuffix”, but your approach works fine too,
and you’re the maintainer!

Was this caused by the removal of getVersion() from

What is the other issue you encountered?

Bug#821230: gitweb should default to utf8 instead of latin1

2016-04-16 Thread Antoine Beaupré
Package: gitweb
Version: 1:2.1.4-2.1+deb8u2
Severity: wishlist

It seems to me unreasonable to default to latin1 in any application
nowadays. I am from a country that used to use that encoding (french
canada) and we don't anymore: we use utf-8. Presumably, that default is
so that non-ASCII charsets are supported, but the reality is that most
people have now switched to the unicode cool-aid, and we're really happy
about it.

I know I can change the default in gitweb.conf but I happen to use a
complicated setup where i have tens of such configs. It would be much
more reasonable to have proper defaults in the source.

latin1 is not a proper default (why not latin15 then?) - it's too
localized. utf8 is the charset we have all agreed on (right?) to support
the maximum number of languages.

so let's just switch already, shall we? :)

Bug#821229: AddCharset config should state more clearly which documentation to read

2016-04-16 Thread Antoine Beaupré
Package: apache2
Version: 2.4.10-10+deb8u4
Severity: wishlist

/etc/apache2/conf-available/charset.conf currently says:

# Read the documentation before enabling AddDefaultCharset.
# In general, it is only a good idea if you know that all your files
# have this encoding. It will override any encoding given in the files
# in meta http-equiv or xml encoding tags.

#AddDefaultCharset UTF-8

# vim: syntax=apache ts=4 sw=4 sts=4 sr noet

It's been a while since I looked at that setting. From memory, I
*think* there's a security issue with enabling this setting, but the
comment does not make that clear at all. Furthermore, it doesn't say
*why* I should read the documentation, or worse, which. I don't have a
README.Debian installed here.

The Apache documentation upstream is pretty large. I could find this:

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/core.html#adddefaultcharset

Which links to:

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_mime.html#addcharset
http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets/character-sets.xhtml

Then that links to:

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_mime.html#multipleext
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/content-negotiation.html

... when do I stop reading? :) What exactly is the point of the notice?

I would suggest adding a recommendation in the text explicitly stating
that the user should read the issues documented in the
AddDefaultCharset documentation with the URL, that way it's clear that
the user does not need to get familiar with all the details of content
negotiation and IANA numbering. :p

It's also unclear to me why there's a config in conf-enabled that does
nothing by default. It would seem to me more rational to have the
config disabled by default, but then have AddDefaultCharset
actually activated in there...

Thanks!

Bug#821227: fonts-linuxlibertine: Switching to Libertinus Fork?

2016-04-16 Thread Frederic Wang
Package: fonts-linuxlibertine
Version: 5.3.0-2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Checking the upstream FontForge project, the maintainer of the Linux Libertine
project seems to have been inactive for two years and unresponsive to
contributors:

https://sourceforge.net/u/philthelion/profile/
https://sourceforge.net/p/linuxlibertine/discussion/307868/thread/4400449a/
https://sourceforge.net/p/linuxlibertine/discussion/307868/thread/b2195e99/

That's why Khaled Hosny created a fork with many bug fixes and an additional
math font:

https://github.com/khaledhosny/libertinus
https://github.com/khaledhosny/libertinus/issues/16

I suggest to switch to that fork, which seems more up-to-date and active.

Bug#758888: lmms: Provide links to LADSPA plugins in /usr/lib/ladspa

2016-04-16 Thread Javier Serrano Polo
Debian has a policy that should be followed about not using conveniece
copies of code. There are many packages providing LADSPA plugins that
can enhance LMMS.
https://packages.debian.org/sid/ladspa-plugin

In my humble opinion, the goal should not be to render projects the same
in different environments. This is the same problem with MIDI songs
without distributing the samples. The goal should be that the demo songs
sound good everywhere, to entice the users into composing new songs, and
to provide the best tools available. I believe that using CAPS 0.9 is a
better user experience than using CAPS 0.4. I have listened three "cool
songs" without LADSPA effects and they still sound cool.

If LMMS developers want to provide a standardized set of sound effects,
they should take care of this set. They should stick with CAPS 0.4.x in
a separate library and provide a how-to to manually upgrade old projects
(uncompress and replace strings); you cannot easily distinguish projects
using 0.4 from ones using 0.9. These separate libraries should be
installed in /usr/lib//ladspa.

I could help writing an upgrade_*() method to automatically upgrade
projects, but this should be discussed with upstream.

The Uscan behaviour in the presence of “Files-Excluded” requires a
bunch of fiddling with the upstream-versus-Debian version string for
the resulting tarball. With a repack program, the version handling
just works properly.

Bug#821225: disk/memory corruption inside VM, VM crashes on KVM on amd64

2016-04-16 Thread Marc Haber
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.5.1-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Hi,

this bug has shown itself on a self-built vanilla kernel since 4.5;
all stable 4.4 releases are fine. I tried reproducing it on a Debian
kernel just to be sure, and since the reproduction was successful, I'm
filing the bug report in debian as well. It is clearly an upstream
issue, has been discussed at length on LKML (search for "Major KVM
issues"), but maybe the Debian kernel team can share some wisdom.

I am currently bisecting the kernel to find out the faulty commit, but
since the system can run for hours with the issue present, this is
hard and time consuming.

I have a desktop PC running with an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor,
cpu family 16, model 10. This is as far as I know not subject to the
recent AMD microcode issues, but the amd64-microcode package is
installed nevertheless.

The host is running a few KVM VMs, also Debian. As soon as the host
runs a kernel of 4.5.0 or later, VMs fail through disk-intensive
operations, such as running aide --update multiple times in a row.
This is independent of the kernel version runing in the guest.

Failures can manifest themselves in processes in the guest
segfaulting, the guest detecting a journal abort of its ext4
filesystems and remounting the filesystem r/o or the guest stopping
dead in its tracks. Neither the logs of the guest nor of the host show
anything more conclusive. The system can run for up to six hours
before the VM begins to show the errativ behavior, but usually the
issue surfaces in the first ten minutes of the system running.

The VM's filesystem is directly on an LV. The btrfs that the kernel
log shows is not involved. The attached log was obtained after aide
running in a VM first segfaulting out of the blue and subsequently
denying to even read its configuration before the VM eventually
crashed completely.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#807878: gnome: Gnome freezes when root windows are open on user screen.

2016-04-16 Thread Edilson Azevedo

Guys, I'm overwhelmed now. Too many things in a short time, trips and so on.
By now I'm not using any root window inside user login - just to make sure I'll
not have troubles.

I will try in a near future (April 21st?) and answer you. Sorry.

Bug#821224: uscan: make initial hyphen optional in @ANY_VERSION@

2016-04-16 Thread Phil Morrell
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.16.2~bpo8+1
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/uscan
Tags: patch

The @ANY_VERSION@ regex currently *requires* a leading hyphen/underscore
intended to separate it from @PACKAGE@, but this limits its usefulness/general
applicability - see [corsix-th] and [scummvm-tools] for examples. Unless this
would brake some compatibility I'm not aware of, I propose it be made optional,
as originally suggested in [#517637].

[#517637]: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=517637#51

The attached patch makes the below simple change in the code and documentation,
but it may need additional tests in `test_uscan_mangle` - I wasn't sure how to
do this if it was necessary.

I removed the patched line in this commit [1], with the reasoning that
after the update to the new version, the file for which the permissions
are being changed, no longer exists.

Bug#821220: RFS: python-django-tagging [NMU] [RC]

2016-04-16 Thread Christopher Baines
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor to update the python-django-tagging package.
The package fails to build from source, since December 2015.

I updated the package to the latest upstream version, which required a
bit of fixing with respect to the git-dpm metadata. This means that the
package does build from source (fixing the RC bug).

Bug#821219: scitools: Recommends unmaintained python-netcdf

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: scitools
Version: 0.9.0-2
Severity: serious
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so

Dear Maintainer,

Please remove python-netcdf from the python-scitools Recommends.

python-netcdf is incompatible with numpy 1.9 and hasn't been in testing
for almost two years. There hasn't been any upstream activity since
2014, making it unlikly to gain compatibility with numpy 1.9.

python-netcdf4 may be a suitable alternative for dolfin, it is actively
maintained by the NetCDF upstream developers.

This bugreport is filed as part of the process to get all reverse
dependencies of python-scientific removed from Debian unstable. If
scitools cannot do without the python-netcdf Recommends, it will also
need to be removed from Debian.

Kind Regards,

Bas

This looks like a duplicate of the following report.

Debian Bug report logs - #782838 udisks2-inhibit mount move fails

To work around the problem, you might consider booting from live media
containing GParted Live.

Bug#821216: RM: gpivtools -- RoQA; Depends on to-be-removed packages

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Please remove gpivtools from Debian unstable, to unblock the removal of
python-scientific.

python-scientific is incompatible with numpy 1.9 and hasn't seen any
upstream activity since 2014.

python-scientific is keeping the old netcdf (1:4.1.3-7.2) in unstable
which is causing testing migration problems for every new revising since
the transition in October 2015.

Bas

Indeed, which is good news all told.

OK, that's fine by me. I just have two comments on the repacked version on
Mentors:
* you could use "Files-Excluded" in debian/copyright instead of adding a
  repack script (have we had this discussion before?);
* since there is a way to make version 6.12 DFSG-free as provided upstream, it
would be nice to prepare an upgrade path — so I would prefer a ~dfsg
  version instead of +dfsg.

Stephen

Bug#821215: dolfin: Depends on unmaintained python-netcdf

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: dolfin
Version: 1.6.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so

Dear Maintainer,

Please remove the python-netcdf dependency from python-dolfin.

python-netcdf is incompatible with numpy 1.9 and hasn't been in testing
for almost two years.

If
dolfin cannot do without the python-scientific dependency, it will also
need to be removed from Debian.

Kind Regards,

Bas

Bug#821214: RM: mmtk -- RoQA; RC buggy, inactive upstream

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Please remove mmtk from unstable.

It's incompatible with NumPy 1.9 like its python-scientific dependency.

There has been no upstream activity since 2013, making it unlikely to gain
compatibility with NumPy 1.9.

mmtk needs to be removed to unblock the removal of python-scientific.

python-scientific is keeping the old netcdf (1:4.1.3-7.2) in unstable
which is causing testing migration problems for every new revising since
the transition in October 2015.

Kind Regards,

Bas

Bug#821213: RFP: golang-github-mitchellh-go-linereader -- Go library that breaks up the input from an io.Reader into multiple lines

2016-04-16 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp

* Package name: golang-github-mitchellh-go-linereader
  Version : 0.0~git20141013.07bab5f
  Upstream Author : Mitchell Hashimoto
* URL : https://github.com/mitchellh/go-linereader

Description : Go library that breaks up the input from an io.Reader into
multiple lines

go-linereader (Golang package: linereader) is a package for Go that breaks up
the input from an
io.Reader into multiple lines. It is a lot like bufio.Scanner, except you can
specify timeouts that
will push "lines" through after a certain amount of time. This lets you read
lines, but return any
data if a line isn't updated for some time.

This is a requirement for Terraform.

Thanks,
DS
