Well, that is not true. I have that bug as well on systems that uses
standard debian kernel as also on systems where I have a custom kernel
with "CONFIG_NLS_DEFAULT="iso8859-1"".

I do not know how systemd works. But I hope, it dis- and reallocates
the tty (not checked)

Yes, that keeps the setting.

Well, reallocating the tty is as it should be from my perspective. So I
wouldn't see that a bug.

I will give that a try. Will give you feedback.

Currently I have "print -n '\033%@'" in my zshrc. But I see that only as
a temporary workaround.

Bug#822322: openmeeg: please switch to vtk6

2016-05-03 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: src:openmeeg
Followup-For: Bug #822322
Control: retitle -1 openmeeg: please drop B-D alternative on vtk5

Hi Yaroslav,

Thanks for the upload of openmeeg to experimental, and hoping the best that it
"feels well" there as you wrote in #809671 ;-)

However let me reopen this bug and downgrade its severity because of this
changelog entry:

 bdepend on vtk6 (allowing vtk5 as alternative) (Closes: #822322)

vtk5 will be removed very soon and vtk6 is even available in jessie,
so this alternative can really go away. It is also bpo safe.

So please just depend on vtk6 and drop the vtk5 entierly.

Many thanks,

Bug#823302: [asterisk-users] my dahdi dont'n start

2016-05-03 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: dahdi-linux
Version: 1:2.10.2~dfsg-1
Severity: minor

Add support to automatic loading of the base module 'dahdi', as it is
e.g. needed for cases where DAHDI is needed for app_meetme in Asterisk
(and in such a case won't be pulled by hardware devices auto-detected).

This is a regression from the version of dahdi-linux in Wheezy.

On Tue, Apr 26, 2016 at 11:13:08AM -0500, Richard Mudgett wrote:

> Administrator TOOTAI: You must have DAHDI running when using meetme because
> DAHDI does the audio mixing for the conference.

There's no such thing as "DAHDI running". What Meetme needs is the basic
DAHDI module loaded. It also loads the built-in timer (which was
originally in a separate module: dahdi_dummy, and bfore that ztdummy).

On Debian systems, if you want a module loaded at startup, you can add
it to a file under /etc/modules-load.d . So what you need to do is:

  echo dahdi > /etc/modules-load.d/dahdi.conf

And you're done.

(Also reporting this as a bug so I will not forget it)

as upstream I did this once, and the side effect was something weird.

when you run multiple times cmake .. the cflags gets appended multiple times,
so you might
end up in a really weird CMakeCache.txt and with really long build lines.

I'm not sure which way is the best one, but cmake should provide something
different from CFLAGS.

e.g.
CMAKE_C_FLAGS
CMAKE_C_FLAGS_RELEASE
CMAKE_C_FLAGS_DEBUG
CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS
CMAKE_MODULE_LINKER_FLAGS

and so on.
that way they will be appended to current CFLAGS without having to override
them manually.

(thanks again for your nice reviews!)

Bug#820102: RM: php-gnupg -- ROM; Doesn't support PHP 7

2016-05-03 Thread Sean DuBois
Good news!

I just figured out the lib issues, and uncovered a few bugs (and fixed
them) and have 100% of the tests passing locally with the following

* PHP 7.1.0-dev
* gpgme 1.6.0
* gnupg 1.4.20

What can I do to make sure this gets into PHP? I would really love to
close the upstream bug.

thanks!

I suppose now

printf '\033%%G'

is the default in the kernel, that is UTF-8,

My question was in order to see whether console-setup sets the font as
expected or not.

Hmm, I've never used mingetty, but isn't it possible that it shows the
same behaviour as systemd, that is it disallocates the tty after each
logout? In order to test this try adding the option --noclear to all
instances of mingetty.

If the option --noclear fixes the problem, then there will be two things
we can do. First, maybe file a bug against mingetty (I don't know if
this should be considered a bug or a feature of mingetty...). And
second, try to do something about the problem in console-setup.

In the file /lib/udev/rules.d/90-console-setup.rules console-setup
installs the following rule:

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="vc", KERNEL=="vcs[1-9]|vcs[1-9][0-9]",
TEST=="/run/console-setup/font-loaded",
RUN+="/etc/console-setup/cached_setup_terminal.sh %k"

In theory this should reconfigure a tty each time it is allocated.

Bug#823301: clementine: can't specify non-default sound sink anymore

2016-05-03 Thread Adam Borowski
Package: clementine
Version: 1.3~rc1-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hi!
I have multiple sound cards in my box, and I put Clementine on a different
one than everything else. Ie, non-default. I guess this is not an obscure
scenario, as it's natural to put music to the room while keeping all random
sounds to headphones.

However, when I go to the setting menu, I see only "Default device on Output
to a sound card via ALSA", "... JACK", "... OSS" and so on. There's
apparently no way to specify the device beyond the plugin type.

This worked right in jessie, and, despite changes to Clementine, the old
config worked for me until I had to change the settings. Digging through
backups, I see the proper stanza was:

.config/Clementine/Clementine.conf
[GstEngine]
sink=alsasink
device=hw:0

Too bad, this is not documented anywhere. And even if it was, Clementine
is a 100% GUI program without any intentional backdoor interfaces. Even all
other settings in the conf file are, as far as I tell, settable through the
GUI so this one seems to be an omission. And a regression from jessie.

Bug#823299: cpants_lint: ability to check the the current directory

Package: cpants-lint
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/cpants_lint
Control: affects -1 check-all-the-things

It would be nice to be able to run cpants_lint on a directory (and
default to the current directory) instead of requiring an existing
tarball. This way it could be run during development too. It would need
to detect if the relevant files are present and exit if they are not.

Bug#823140: RFS: caffe/1.0.0~rc3-1 -- a deep learning framework [ITP]

2016-05-03 Thread Ghislain Vaillant

On 03/05/16 03:08, lumin wrote:

- d/*.install.in: no multi-arch install paths? why?

I have no plan to make multiarch support for this package,
because that makes no sense. In production environment
Caffe is a computational intensive and memory-consuming
application, and I believe no user will need multi-arch
support for this package.

Made no change related to multi-arch.

What about cross-building?

- d/libcaffe-dev.install.in: what is the purpose of the additional
libproto.a binary?

There is a protobuf definition file under Caffe's source,
   src/caffe/proto/caffe.proto
which is a very essential file as it defined
caffe's "protocol". And libproto.a is the compiled
binary version of that protocol.

Besides, the Official "install" target installs
that static lib, so it is recommended by upstream
to have such a lib. Hence it goes into the -dev packages.

What upstream does is not always aligned with what Debian recommends
though. I was just wondering how the caffe and proto binaries were
related. Plus, it makes lintian ouput comments about unstripped static
libs.

- d/rules + d/*.in: IMO, sounds like a very convoluted way of running 2
separate builds (one for CPU one for CUDA) and moving the files in the
right places. Another possibility could have been to have caffe-cpu and
caffe-cuda as separate source packages, one in main and one in contrib.
For each of them, the packaging would have been much more simple to
maintain I suppose.

I've ever considered split them up into 2 source packages,
but building 2 set of binary from 1 source is my initial intent.
I may split them in the future.

Here is why I would consider splitting them **now**. A significant
portion of your d/rules consist in detecting whether CUDA is available

and optionally enable compilation of the CUDA version. This could be
avoided by having a caffe or caffe-cpu source package, which potentially
builds on all arch, and a caffe-cuda source package with the CUDA
Build-Depends, for which you would not need to manually specify the target

architectures.

Benefits from this include:
1) The caffe[-cpu] source package and related binaries can live in main,
instead of contrib at the moment.
2) The caffe-cuda source package does not need the manual architecture
restriction stuff.
3) Last but not least, the resulting source packages become much
simpler to maintain in the long term, which is good from a
**team-maintenance perspective**.

As an FYI, the version of CUDA you are asking is available for ppc64el
and no longer for i386. With your solution, you (now) have to modify
this manually in d/{control,rules}. With separate source packages, you
would not have to.

I've tried to inject these flags according to wiki:Hardening
```
# Hardening Caffe according to https://wiki.debian.org/Hardening
DPKG_EXPORT_BUILDFLAGS=1
export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all
export DEB_CFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND  = -Wall -pedantic
export DEB_LDFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND = -Wl,--as-needed
include /usr/share/dpkg/buildflags.mk
CFLAGS+=$(CPPFLAGS)
CXXFLAGS+=$(CPPFLAGS)
```

You should only require
export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all
export DEB_CFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND  = -Wall -pedantic
export DEB_CPPFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND = -Wall -pedantic
export DEB_LDFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND = -Wl,--as-needed

I have added DEB_CPPFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND, since CMake does not always
automatically transfer the CFLAGS to CPPFLAGS. Unless, the caffe
build system is set-up for doing so.

But hardening-fortify-source-function is still unfixed.
```
$ hardening-check /usr/bin/caffe
/usr/bin/caffe:
  Position Independent Executable: yes
  Stack protected: yes
  Fortify Source functions: no, only unprotected functions found!
  Read-only relocations: yes
  Immediate binding: yes
```

I have no idea about it...

You would have to look for override lines of the form:

set(CFLAGS ...) which should be replaced by set(CFLAGS $(CFLAGS) ...)

An upstream classic unfortunately.

Ghis

occurance of "." will be replaced by "\.". So "^127\.0\.0\.1$" gives exactly
the same result as "127.0.0.1".

Now if you want to match all systems in a subnet you can't use "10.0.0." or
"10.0.0.*", you have to use "10.0.0.[0-9]*".

This needs documentation and an example in the sample config file.

Bug#822834: FTBFS as root because of perldoc

2016-05-03 Thread Uli Martens
Hello Dominique,

tl;dr: the redirection works fine

On Sat, Apr 30, 2016 at 05:26:54PM +0200, Dominique Dumont wrote:
> Weird, I don't have any issue when building moarvm with cowbuilder.

I should clarify that I've been trying to build interactively in
sudo pbuilder --login, not some "build this .dsc/directory" mode because
I've still been figuring out what I need to backport. But that shouldn't
matter.

> That said, I'm not thrilled at the idea of using an undocumented option.

Ack.

I've now tried running the build (and perldoc) with this modified
makefile snippets:

perldoc -F -onroff -U -ddebian/moar.A \
-w center:MoarVM \
-w "release:MoarVM-$(MOAR_VERSION)" \
-w "date:$(MOAR_DATE)" \
docs/moar.pod
perldoc -F -onroff \
-w center:MoarVM \
-w "release:MoarVM-$(MOAR_VERSION)" \
-w "date:$(MOAR_DATE)" \
docs/moar.pod > debian/moar.B

That is, once as it's in the official version plus -U, and once without the
-d$file but with redirection. The output files were bit-identical, but the
moar.A file was chmod 600, the redirected one was chmod 644. As the file gets
installed by dh_installman, that should be irrelevant.

Bug#823296: fusiondirectory-setup --check-ldap fails to create struccture in ldap

2016-05-03 Thread Ioan Eugen Stan
Package: fusiondirectory
Version: 1.0.8.2-5+deb8u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

This might be related to bug [1] 823293 .

While working to setup fusiondirectory on my Debian Jessie server I ran
`fusiondirectory-setup --check-ldap` command to check the LDAP tree.
The command asked me some questions and then it tried to create the fd-admin
user. It failed with INVALID_LDAP_SYNTAX or similar error.
I cannot reproduce it right now. My best guss of the cause is that it's missing
the schemas as noted in 823293 .

This bug is reported from another machine.

It's a lot easier for us if you send a patch upstream [1] and point us to the
commit. Or wait until someone of use has the time to do that.

Cheers

Bug#823293: fusiondirectory-insert-schema fails to add schema to ldap with cn=config configuration

2016-05-03 Thread Ioan Eugen Stan
Package: fusiondirectory
Version: 1.0.8.2-5+deb8u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I've installed slapd and fusiondirectory on my Debian Jessie server. Dusing
fusiondirectory web setup it complained about missing schema so I ran the
fusiondirectory-insert-schema to install the schemas in my LDAP server.

$ sudo fusiondirectory-insert-schema
! This tool is only intended to be with with a cn=config backend, cn=config
could not be found in the LDAP at /usr/sbin/fusiondirectory-insert-schema line
242.

I expected the schemas to be imported into LDAP and be available. It seems the
schemas provided by the package are not migrated to LDIF format.

I'm quite new with LDAP so please let me know if and how I can provide more
information.

All versions used are from Debian Jessie + Backports. fusiondirectory-setup
also fails but I will submit another bug.
I'm reporting this bug from another machine with Debian Stretch.

make it clear, the change is a big deal here in Norway, where NRK is one
of the most seen TV channels in the country.

Indeed, if the following change can be done it would be really
appreciated: Make the network-tests sort of "opt-out" via the
NO_NETWORK_TESTING variable if set to true.

An example is here: https://bugs.debian.org/764868 for the example of
libio-socket-ssl-perl.

Your offer is welcome and accepted, Pierre never had time to upload.

I suppose we could decide where to host the git repository before
uploading.
Do you think it's better to first use a "collab-maint" repo, or create
an Alioth group to collaborate on SCAP related stuff ?
