That license is pretty much non-free, as it does not allow
modification nor redistribution, only using the code.

Please add the instruction to debian/README.source

See https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#s-readmesource
for more informatin on that file. Snippet from that section:

  debian/README.source may also include any other information that would
  be helpful to someone modifying the source package.

Bug#827715: RFS: muttprint/0.73-5.2 [NMU, RC] -- Pretty printing of mails

2016-06-19 Thread Sean Whitton
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important
Control: block 817591 by -1

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for an NMU of muttprint, fixing a stretch RC
bug (older than 7 days and no maintainer activity). I use muttprint
(along with several hundred others, according to popcon) and don't want
it to fall out of Debian.

I have verified this NMU in the following ways:

- builds in clean sid chroot
- passes piuparts
- debdiff shows no files added/removed

* Package name: muttprint
  Version : 0.73-5.2
  Upstream Author : Lukas Ruf
* URL : http://muttprint.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL
  Section : mail

Changes since the last upload:

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Raise debhelper compat level and build dependency to 5 (Closes: #817591).

Download with dget:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/muttprint/muttprint_0.73-5.2.dsc

Thanks.

Bug#827713: apt 1.2.13 breaks proxy auto-detection

2016-06-19 Thread James Tocknell
Package: apt
Version: 1.2.12
Severity: important

Under apt 1.2.13, attempting to use Acquire::http::Proxy-Auto-Detect or
Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect with squid-deb-proxy-client seems to always
return "Failed to read in AutoDetectProxy" when there is no nearby server,
which makes squid-deb-proxy-client almost useless.

This would make it much easier to change the theme of cards. Right now there is
no easy way within the software to figure out that "gnome-cards-data" is what
you need to install to change it, so you basically have to look up how to do it
online and many people might not be aware that it is possible.

Bug#827711: RFS: sortmail/1:2.4-2 [QA, RC] -- simple mail sorter

2016-06-19 Thread Sean Whitton
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a spondor for a QA upload of sortmail, fixing a stretch
RC bug. Although Hamish Moffatt suggested removing the package from
Debian in his orphaning bug report, popcon reports there are users and
upstream is active (they have already applied a patch I forwarded).

I have not fixed everything that could be fixed; I fixed the RC bug, and
tried to get the package into a more attractive state for adoption.

* Package name: sortmail
  Version : 1:2.4-2
  Upstream Author : Edward A. Falk
* URL : http://sortmail.sourceforge.net
* License : BSD-1-clause
  Section : mail

Changes since the last upload:

  * QA upload.
  * Set maintainer to QA team (see #790732).
  * Switch to source format 3.0 (quilt).
  * Modernise d/rules:
- Bump debhelper compat & build dependency to 9 (Closes: #817673).
- Use dh sequencer, overriding dh_auto_install.
- Enable --parallel.
- Add ${misc:Depends} to bin:sortmail dependencies.
- Add d/examples.
- Add d/docs.
- Add d/install.
- Add d/manpages (Closes: #593763).
  * Apply patch from Mathias Klose to fix build with ld --as-needed
(Closes: #641440).
  * Add enable-debugging-symbols.patch so dh_strip can generate sortmail-dbgsym.
  * Remove article from description synopsis.
  * Add Vcs-* fields pointing to collab-maint.
  * Add Homepage: field.
  * Declare compliance with policy version 3.9.8.
- Re-encode d/copyright as UTF-8.

Download with dget:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sortmail/sortmail_1:2.4-2.dsc

Or build it with gbp:

gbp clone --pristine-tar
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/sortmail.git
cd sortmail
git checkout debian/1:2.4-2
git verify-tag debian/1:2.4-2 # if you have my key
gbp buildpackage

Thanks.

Bug#827709: ITP: soapysdr -- software defined radio interface library

2016-06-19 Thread Andreas Bombe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Bombe

* Package name: soapysdr
  Version : 0.4.3
  Upstream Author : Josh Blum / Pothosware
* URL : https://github.com/pothosware/SoapySDR/wiki
* License : Boost Software License
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : software defined radio interface library

SoapySDR is a library providing a common interface to SDR (software
defined radio) hardware. Support for different hardware is added through
external modules.

This is a dependency of the SDR support in pothos (see my other ITP). I
intend to package the hardware support for audio, UHD, BladeRF, Osmo,
RTL-SDR, HackRF, RedPitaya and Airspy (these add GPL3 and MIT to the set
of licenses). Since these are separate projects without a common release
schedule, it appears I will have to package them as separate source
packages.

Bug#827710: ITP: pothos -- data flow programming framework with computational offload capability

2016-06-19 Thread Andreas Bombe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Bombe

* Package name: pothos
  Version : 0.3.3
  Upstream Author : Pothosware / Josh Blum
* URL : https://github.com/pothosware/pothos/wiki
* License : Boost Software License
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : data flow programming framework with computational offload
capability

The Pothos project is a complete data-flow framework for creating
topologies of interconnected processing blocks. Topologies can be
designed and tested graphically, and deployed over a network. The Pothos
framework API is sleek and smart, enabling users to quickly create
custom processing blocks with minimal boiler-plate. Processing blocks
can support computational offload and integration with DMA devices. The
project also has a diverse set of processing and hardware support
toolkits.

I intend this ITP to include those submodules in the upstream git that
are also projects under the pothosware umbrella (audio, blocks, comms,
gui, plotters, python, sdr, widgets). There's also pothos-serialization
which is a copy of the Boost serialization with everything renamed to
avoid a dependency on Boost. I'll have to see what to do about that.

Basically I came across this because of the not-yet-funded LimeSDR[1]
crowdfunding project, pothos is the framework most demos were created
in. In that use case the obvious alternative is GNU Radio. Compared to
that the GUI looks more powerful and pleasant (multiple pages per app
for less cramped design, editing of blocks while the app is running,
placing GUI objects interactively).

[1] https://www.crowdsupply.com/lime-micro/limesdr

It can also integrate GNU Radio processing blocks, although that needs
some changes to GNU Radio that apparently aren't upstreamed so far.

Hi Carlos,

You asked for help on #debian-devel-br about the UpstreamMetadata part,
and I didn't have a chance to reply before you left, so I'm sending this
message instead.

I think the idea is explained in the wiki page itself, but I understand
that you may not know how to create the file. I think the best thing to
do in these cases is to look for examples (and codesearch.debian.net is
really helpful for that).

Anyway, you might want to take a look at this file, for example:

And have an idea of how to create yours. The basic idea is that you
will provide the fields (see
) that best fit your
package. This should not be complicated, especially if you're dealing
with a simple package (which seems to be the case).

Anyway, please let us know if you have any other question about it.

Cheers,

Hey guys,

So, if you're interested in trying Midori compiled against GTK+3/WK2,
I've just uploaded a new package to experimental. The version is
midori_0.5.11-ds1-100~exp1.

Please give it a try if you can and let me know whether you find any

Bug#827708: synaptic: Missing Quick filter option

2016-06-19 Thread TMountney
Package: synaptic
Version: 0.81.2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The 'Quick filter' (QF) option/method which was available with previous
versions of Synaptic is not available with the current version. This is a major
inconvenience. With the previous version it was simple, quick and efficient to
check the status (Installed/Not installed) of specific packages. For example,
to check for the installed list of GTK packages, gtk was entered in the in the
QF text box and selecting Status/'Installed' showed all the gtk package(s)
installed (not all Installed and Not Installed) on the system.

Search doesn't work for this type of check. Searching for gtk shows both (thus
all) installed and not-installed gtk packages; I simple want to know what gtk
packages are INSTALLED not those 'Not installed'. On my system, using Search, I
would have to scroll through 1507 packages to see those Installed.

Yes, I can create a custom search filter (Settings/Filters/Search Filter)
setting only the Installed option, but this method is inefficient and
inconvenient, initially requiring a LOT (14 - 20) of steps:

1.  - click Settings
2.  - click Filters
3.  - click Search Filters
4. - click Deselect All for Status column
5. - click Installed check box under Current heading
6. - click Properties column heading
   +- create first filter criteria:
7.  -- (maybe) click first drop-down:
8.   (maybe) select Package Name
9.  -- (maybe) click second drop-down:
10   (maybe) select Includes
11. -- click third field and enter text gtk
   +- create second filter criteria:
12. -- click New
13.  -- click first drop-down:
14.   select Description
15.  -- (maybe) click second drop-down:
16.   (maybe) select Includes
17. -- click third field and enter text gtk
18 - click OK (returned to Package Manager Window)
19  - click Custom Filters
20. - click Search Filter

QF required 1-3 steps:

1. - enter text gtk in QF text box
2.  - (maybe) click Status
3.  - (maybe( click Installed

And, of course I can use aptitude search piped into multiple grep statements:

aptitude search ~i ~dgtk gtk | grep -e 'gtk' | grep -v '^p ' | grep -v '^v
'

The QF option/method is much simpler, efficient, quicker and much more
convenient. And if I want to QF for other packages I simple enter text in the
QF text box; probably 1 step – enter text in QF text box - in the same
session. But to 'Search filter' for some other installed package(s), 7 (if some
criteria already set) to 20 steps yet again - VERY inconvenient/inefficient vs
QF method!!!

While having the option of creating filters is nice and powerful, most of the
time the QF is all that is needed.

Please provide/offer the Quick Filter again.

Thank You.

Bug#827707: duck: Should not report sites which are available via HTTPS but redirect from HTTPS to HTTP

2016-06-19 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: duck
Version: 0.9
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

duck reported the following for the screen package:

I: debian/patches/52fix_screen_utf8_nfd.patch:10: URL:
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/mrkn/20101014/fix_screen_utf8_nfd_bug: INFORMATION

   The web page at http://d.hatena.ne.jp/mrkn/20101014/fix_screen_utf8_nfd_bug
works, but is also available via
https://d.hatena.ne.jp/mrkn/20101014/fix_screen_utf8_nfd_bug, please consider
switching to HTTPS urls.

But https://d.hatena.ne.jp/mrkn/20101014/fix_screen_utf8_nfd_bug
redirects back to
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/mrkn/20101014/fix_screen_utf8_nfd_bug

So if I change this as recommend, I get again a warning:

I: debian/patches/52fix_screen_utf8_nfd.patch:10: URL:

   Secure URL redirects to an insecure URL: https://d.hatena.ne.jp ->

I suggest to avoid the initial warning if HTTPS redirects back to HTTP,
but keep the latter warning.

I think there was one issue that only showed up as a memory error on
i386 and not amd64 and this might have been the one.

Also on second thought, never mind… This date conversion is used only to
display information about files, so worst case is that index -1 of a
static array is read and a nonsensical date is displayed to the user. I
don't think it's worth extra effort to include it.

I still have it installed, but I no more use it in production

You probably want to file a Request For Adoption (or orphaning the

I suppose Built-Using on a -dev package lists source package versions
that the -dev package is known to build/pass tests with, which is
probably useful information. But it's not the information for which
policy says Built-Using is to be used:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-built-using:

"Some binary packages incorporate parts of other packages when built
but do not have to depend on those packages. Examples include linking
with static libraries or incorporating source code from another
package during the build. In this case, the source packages of those
other packages are a required part of the complete source (the binary
package is not reproducible without them).

A Built-Using field must list the corresponding source package for any
such binary package incorporated during the build..."

Let's turn this into a bug report so this can be tracked properly.

The issue being that /lib/init/vars.sh has been moved from initscripts
to sysvinit-utils.
sysvinit-utils got a Breaks/Replaces: initscripts (<< 2.88dsf-59.5) for
that.
On the other hand, the initscripts has got a dependency on
sysvinit-utils (>= 2.88dsf-59.5) to ensure /lib/init/vars.sh is available.

As mentioned, dropping the Breaks should break the loop.

Bug#827706: RM: gnome-video-arcade [ppc64el] -- ROM; Blocks testing migration of mame

2016-06-19 Thread Jordi Mallach
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi ftp-master,

In #826948, I recently requested the removal of the ppc64el binaries of MAME,
as a FTBFS has been holding mame's migration from non-free to main for weeks.

With that report I failed to realise gnome-video-arcade's ppc64el binary
would also result on a testing migration block due to causing
uninstallability of said binary on testing.

Can you please remove gnome-video-arcade/ppc64el as well?

Many thanks,
Jordi

No, it will not: ace 6.3.4 does not build with libssl 1.1.0 and nobody is
working on fixing that upstream. After all the problems caused by OpenSSL
fixes by non-experts, I will not venture into that muddy field.

A source package for ace 6.3.4 with the kfreebsd patch is available here.
It works on sid but fails on experimental:

Now I only need someone to upload it to the archive. Thomas? :-)

Bug#827704: udev is not portable and mandates kernel features

2016-06-19 Thread Pierre Ynard
Package: udev
Version: 230-2
Severity: wishlist

When trying to upgrade udev from version 175-7.2 to 230-2, I get greeted
by the:

> Since release 198, udev requires support for the following features in
> the running kernel:
>
> - inotify(2)(CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER)
> - signalfd(2)   (CONFIG_SIGNALFD)
> - accept4(2)
> - open_by_handle_at(2)  (CONFIG_FHANDLE)
> - timerfd_create(2) (CONFIG_TIMERFD)
> - epoll_create(2)   (CONFIG_EPOLL)

Thank you for the preinst check and documenting in more details in the
README. However, some of these requirements seem unwarranted, backwards
and frankly outrageous. Decent software should make a minimum effort at
portability, and not direct the underlying system around.

- accept4() can be trivially emulated on ENOSYS. Any portable software
  will do that trivial job. I don't believe that SOCK_CLOEXEC race
  conditions would be a crippling issue for udev.

- epoll is just one out of many polling APIs. Any portable software will
  fall back onto more common APIs like poll() or even select(), and wrap
  around them or emulate missing features. Frankly, mandating epoll like
  there's no way around it is simply appalling. epoll has main scaling
  and performance purposes, but polling performance does not seem to be
  any relevant for udev, really.

- timerfd_create() and signalfd() are just convenience APIs around the
  more pervasive mechanisms of timers and signal handling. Equivalent
  functionality can be emulated with a handler that writes into a pipe;
  at any rate, they do not seem required to do the job.

I don't need to delve into the other items because the point is already
clear.

I can understand mandating stuff like CONFIG_DEVTMPFS, since it's
actually a major feature core to udev business, and would even be a
paradigm shift. I can understand mandating CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED=n
since that's within core udev business too. But most of the items above
have nothing particular to do with udev, and are just generic APIs.
Generic API availability gets properly managed, detected, emulated or
gracefully handled in portable software, not mandated; and the more
generic and trivial the API, the less understandable it is.

For the sake of openness, the feature missing on my system is
CONFIG_FHANDLE. It's not hidden under CONFIG_EXPERT like some others,
and the current Linux kernel Kconfig help only mentions "userspace
file servers", not a system component like udev, so I did not think
much of it. I can vaguely imagine how it would be useful (although not
necessary) to udev, and I don't really mind enabling it, but this is not
this point of the bug report - the principle is.

Please improve the portability of udev and reduce or eliminate the above
list of required non-essential features.

udev is a basic package that would be installed on most systems. On
mine, it still remains depended on by X.Org (for very understandable
reasons); it cannot be removed, nor substituted by any alternative. As
such, anything the udev package imposes has consequences that take away
user choice on a distribution-wide scale. Please provide and/or document
the ability to remove udev or substitute alternatives for it.

As a last resort, please make this apparent lack of portability more
understandable for users. The information in the README is a very good
start already, I appreciate it, but please complete it to document
what requires the features in the above list and foremost why they
are essential. Lack of portability, and mandating features in other
system components from such a basic and pervasive package, set a bad
example for software; please document, explain and present in a more
understandable way this approach and its outstanding, exceptional
and/or discouraged character. Please improve the most visible part of
it, the output of the preinst check, to make it sound less entitled
and outrageous to upgrading users, especially in view of some of the
required features in the list.

After taking care of this bug report I'm looking forward to being
able to upgrade udev, I hope I won't run into any more hurdle. The
changelog looks good, and I'm looking forward to being able to disable
CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER :)

Thanks,

Bug#827702: GNOME doesn't support Synaptics driver anymore, makes touchpad support silently suck

2016-06-19 Thread Ian McKellar
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.8.3-2

I have a Thinkpad Yoga 2 Pro and have been using it happily for a couple of
years. I've used the Synaptics Xorg driver but suddenly after upgrading my
touchpad wasn't working right. The gnome-control-center mouse UI didn't
show any of the touchpad related controls, middle click didn't work and
while typing I would get taps so that my input would be moved around.

After some digging I noticed gnome-control-center printing the error
defined here:
  https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2016-April/msg01118.html

I removed the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package but forgot to --purge.
This completely broke my configuration because it left
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-synaptics.conf.
I removed that, restarted X and everything's better.

It's unclear to me if this is specifically a GNOME issue and/or what the
right migration path for users should be.

Unfortunately, as of today, it is not anymore possible to upgrade from
jessie to stretch:

# apt-get upgrade
[...]
# apt-get dist-upgrade
[...]
E: This installation run will require temporarily removing the essential
package sysvinit-utils:amd64 due to a Conflicts/Pre-Depends loop. This is often
bad, but if you really want to do it, activate the APT::Force-LoopBreak option.
E: Internal Error, Could not early remove sysvinit-utils:amd64 (2)

I can reproduce this on a jessie system with very few packages
installed and this single line in sources.list:

deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian stretch main

If this problem is the result of fixing this bug, I would rather keep
the bug unfixed and leave things as before.

Thanks.

Your position is entirely clear and reasonable. It's the
implementation I'm having trouble with.

When you install task-xfce-desktop, from a dependency standpoint, it
becomes the "parent" of all things XFCE -- the task is marked as manually
installed; its dependencies are marked as automatically installed, and will
be deleted by the package manager when everything that depends on them goes
away. If you then delete task-xfce-desktop, all its dependencies lose their
parent, and aptitude happily cleans up all of XFCE.

I admit I'm walking off the edge of my knowledge of Debian policy
and implementation arcana here. It may be that Debian 'task' packages are
treated specially, and packages installed via a 'task' aren't marked as
automatically installed. If that's indeed the case, then my bug report is
moot. If not, then I believe more thought is called for here.

I have just done it. These are the steps:

$ git remote add upstream https://github.com/shirou/gopsutil
$ git pull upstream
$ git checkout upstream
$ git merge v2.1
$ git tag upstream/2.1
$ git checkout master
$ git merge upstream/2.1
$ uscan --force-download
$ pristine-tar commit ../golang-github-shirou-gopsutil_2.1.orig.tar.gz
upstream/2.1

I also fixed some tests that fail, and various bits. I am just confused
as to why you removed the Build-Using field in control..

This file is generated by guiserver/Makefile. It is a jar file created
From the .java files under guiserver/java.

> P: newlisp source: source-contains-prebuilt-windows-binary
> qa-specific-tests/ffitest.dylib

This is a test file. TBH I am not completely sure about what to do with
it; there doesn't seem to be a source code available for this file
(although it was written by a contributor), and apparently it could be
removed (and some tests could be adjusted) without impacting Debian. Or
we could just ignore it.

These two are temporary. I don't have a repository on alioth to push
the code, and I don't use https on my server. I'll replace them as soon
as I set up a repo on alioth.

> P: newlisp source: debian-watch-may-check-gpg-signature

Upstream unfortunately does not provide a GPG signature for the package.
I will get in touch with them and request that they make one available.

Somehow I thought that these were not worth fixing with local patches,
but hey, it doesn't hurt. They're fixed now.

The shebangs are right in the original files. They are:

  #!/usr/bin/env newlisp

I guess lintian evaluates this expression somehow and displays the wrong
shebang in the warnings. Also, I intend to contact the lintian
maintainers as soon as the package is uploaded so that they can add
newlisp to the list of known interpreters.

Done. I had forgotten about the -dbgsym, thanks.

Ops, you're right.  Removed.

Removed, thanks.

I have rebuilt the package with the fixes and re-uploaded it to mentors.

* Niels Thykier , 2016-06-19, 18:59:
The HTML files in /usr/share/doc/lintian/lintian.html/ are written in
UTF-8, but they don't have any encoding declarations. This makes
Iceweasel display mojibake like "§5.1".

Indeed.

Sadly I got no clue on how to fix that (without "fixing up" the output
with a home-grown post-processor).

Post-processing HTML output might not such a bad idea, at least in the
short run.

docbook2html manpage says that "for the moment, jw does not handle XML,
but only SGML", so it's not surprising that it doesn't fully grok our
XML file. And this tool had last upstream release in 2004, so perhaps we
should migrate to something more modern, like docbook-xsl.

I’m not clear about why Debian should carry Ubuntu-specific hacks for
Ubuntu-specific transitions. Why not simply make those changes directly
in the zend-framework Ubuntu-specific package?

zendframework is targeted for removal ASAP anyway. Any help into fixing
the current reverse dependencies would be welcome, some bugs already

Bug#705548: josm: backport josm

2016-06-19 Thread Sebastiaan Couwenberg
Control: tags -1 pending

Now that the embedded metadata-extractor is used, packporting josm has
less impact.

No newer version of libmetadata-extractor-java is required for josm now,
which would break its other reverse dependencies (gpsprune & tika).

Backporting josm requires backporting jmapviewer, which breaks freeplane.

Until freeplane is backported, the jmapviewer backports and freeplane
from stable won't be co-installable.

php-letodms-lucene depends on zendframework (version 1), but this

of zendframework, that is maintained in separate packages (associated
with separate upstream components). We’d thus like to get rid of the

new packages that will be needed in order to ensure smooth upgrade.

Bug#807656: NMU uploaded to DELAYED/10 for Bug#807656: flashbake: Please package new upstream version 0.27.1 so that Debian can drop python-enum

I've just uploaded a non-maintainer upload (NMU) containing the new
upstream release 0.27.1 (and hence fixing #807656) to DELAYED/10 (will
soon show up on https://ftp-master.debian.org/deferred.html) so that
Debian finally can remove python-enum from the unstable archive in
about 10 days.

The NMU also fixes #7986316 (new upstream homepage URL), the
debian/watch file (which failed to find the most recent upstream
version) and building the package twice in a row (additional files
needed to be cleaned up).

Attached is a debdiff which contains all packaging changes, i.e. does
not include the upstream changes. This is mainly because upstream
moved around most files and a full debdiff would be about twice the
size of the upstream code. :-/ The debdiff was generated with the
following command:

  debdiff flashbake_0.26.2-5.1.dsc flashbake_0.27.1-0.1.dsc | filterdiff -i
"*/debian/*"

I've also pushed the changes to the collab-maint git repo on Alioth
into the branch "nmu":
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/flashbake.git/log/?h=nmu
I'll merge that branch into master once the NMU has been ACCEPTED.

Feel free to tell me in case I should delay the NMU longer or if I
should fast-forward it.

Regards, Axel

Bug#827697: golang-github-shirou-gopsutil: Please update to latest release

2016-06-19 Thread Dmitry Smirnov
Source: golang-github-shirou-gopsutil
Version: 1.0.0+git20160112-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-CC: iwama...@debian.org

Please upload latest upstream release (at least one package is held by the
dependency).

Upstream is now tagging releases.

I would be happy to upload updated package but I've noticed that "upstream"
branch follows upstream history so "gbp import-orig" would break it and I'm
not sure how to handle such repository configuration...

Please advise.

The Lintian output is misleading; the actual shebangs look like this:

Bug#827695: zendframework: Rename zend-framework in Ubuntu to allow for a package sync

2016-06-19 Thread Nishanth Aravamudan
Package: zendframework
Version: 1.12.18+dfsg-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu yakkety ubuntu-patch

Dear Maintainer,

For reference:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zend-framework/+bug/1593024

I am hoping to get rid of the Ubuntu zend-framework package and simply
sync the zendframework package from Debian. Said package is currently
blacklisted in Ubuntu due to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zendframework/+bug/580507 (and
some more details in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zend-framework/+bug/1052423).

To that end, per https://wiki.debian.org/Renaming_a_Package Method 2, I
would like to see if you would consider taking the following patch,
which allows for proper upgrading from 16.04 -> 16.10 via:

  * zend-framework -> zendframework transition (LP: #1593024):
- Define transitionaly dummy packages for zend-framework,
  libzend-framework-php, and zend-framework-bin, which were all
  binary packages from src:zend-framework.
- Modify the definitions of zendframework and zendframework-bin to
  Replace & Break the zend-framework versions before this one.

I did also have one question, before you apply the same patch, though:
the zend-framework package in Ubuntu used a different upstream tarball
which included the 'extras' library from ZF1. Is there any interest in
Debian packaging the same? Either way, I probably need to modify the
patch to also B/R libzend-framework-zend-php -- I asked in the Ubuntu
bug just recently on the best way forward, as semantically zendframework
does break libzend-framework-zend-php (versioned), but doesn't replace
it.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Thanks Nish. You patch looks good.

Some notes:
- In d/control, use php-phpseclib (>= 2~) as < and > operators are
obsolete (see man:dpkg(1))
- "use phpseclib\Math;" is probably not needed as you use fully

- Can you send this upstream (using github.com/horde/horde or bugs.horde.org)?

I'll apply your patch once I have some time to test.

After further reading, i think (but i'm still quite confused about
multiarch)
there might be some complication with the fact node c++ addons are
linked against the binary /usr/bin/nodejs.

(This situation will improve with the ability to build a shared libnode.so,
but it's not even released and probably won't be backported to current 4.x)

W: asciiquarium: menu-command-not-in-package usr/share/menu/asciiquarium:2

I won't repeat these problems below.

debian/patches:
- first of all, naming a patch (or any other file) just "Makefile" is
  wrong because it's not a Makefile. And patches should be named *.patch.
- but the patch is not really needed as everything it does is to add a
  working "make install" command and you can do the installation in
  debian/rules instead, by adding an override_dh_auto_install target.

debian/outfile: what is this? seems like an accidentally added file.

asciiquarium-docs.docs: what is this? you don't have a asciiquarium-docs
package.

debian/changelog: "Build for Debian unstable." is not a good first entry,
it should be "Initial package" instead (with an appropriate Closes:
addition, as reported by lintian).

debian/rules:
- it has a lot of commented dh_make boilerplate, please remove it if you
  don't need it.
- you don't need to call dh_* commands in overrides if you know they won't

Indeed.

Sadly I got no clue on how to fix that (without "fixing up" the output
with a home-grown post-processor).  Help welcome.

And I fail to migrate my main wallet, it doesn't seem to accept my
password. My main wallet was already of the gpg type, so maybe that is
related? The blog mentioned before said: "that’ll eventually be the
moment to switch to GPG wallets." Also the following quote worries me
slightly: "The migration assistant will preserve wallet names" as the
wallet created with KDE5 has the same name (default) as my old wallet.

So of my three original wallets, I am have so far only been able to
import one older one.

Did that, didn't help.

kde-runtime was NOT installed. It was one of the requirements that got
uninstalled to let me migrate to stretch. But that would be an other
bug, however unfortunately I lost my logging do a failure to hibernate
so I can't properly report it.

So I installed kde-runtime again and with the Migration block still
removed, I was able to import one wallet (the password for the first
wallet it tried to open was in second one, as it is a legacy wallet that
I don't always remember to update when I update my passwords). I'll
figure it out thanks.

Seems like a dependency is missing here or there.

Looks like the width of the window the first time you invoke :Man, yeah.
So it doesn't adapt if you resize the Vim window *or* the buffer.

We provided both clients in one package back then. The reasons for
removing the gtk3 client were "it was too experimental" and "Latest
update of gtk+-3 libraries seem to have broken our gtk3-client
quite completely" (your quote from #766185)

I don't mind packaging the gtk3 client separately, just make up your
mind because it must be supported if it should be part of a stable release.

Hi,

I have interest in adopting gummi.

Alexander: If you want to co-maintain the package, that's not a problem for
me, simply get in touch with the Debian Science Team[0] to get an access to
the Git repository, I can sponsor your work.

Cheers,

 I don't think you ever provided them both simultaneously. I hope
Jacob to clarify his opinion himself, but I think we had some
misunderstanding last time. We wanted (and for freeciv-2.5 still want)
gtk2-client as the default one (one you get with 'apt-get install
freeciv') but also to have gtk3-client as an alternative to it (like
sdl-client and qt-client already are).

If it is just a matter of adding Multi-Arch: foreign, i can do it right
now, but
i would have no clue what i would be doing... Any advice is welcome.

Bug#825349: how-can-i-help: also show bugs tagged help

2016-06-19 Thread Tomasz Nitecki
Hey,

Apart from a minor code modification, it will also require a minor
change in the hcih script on the UDD side. I'll try to add it, when I'm
done with how-can-i-help update.

I reverted to version 3.16.7-ckt25-1 on Thursday, and haven't seen the
issue since.
Jun 16 20:27:44 fuji sudo: paul : TTY=pts/0 ; PWD=/home/paul ;
USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/dpkg -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-3.16.0-4-kirkwood_3.16.7-ckt25-1_armel.deb

But just to be honest and complete, also not all traffic for this NAS is
going via the dongle anymore, as it is now also connect via UTP wire.
Furthermore, due to its location, it is also missing the audio USB.

There isn't enough information in your report to diagnose which specific
component is crashing or how to fix it, but it certainly isn't a bug in
libglib2.0-data, which only contains translated versions of messages in
various languages. I would recommend contacting some user support channel
such as those listed on for advice on
how to determine which component is crashing, where to report the bug
to have the report be most useful, and what other information you would
need to supply for a maintainer to be able to find and fix the bug.

This particular warning is probably harmless. Even if console-kit-daemon
was crashing, that shouldn't normally have the effect of bringing down
the rest of your system.

Bug#827689: prosody: Also search plugins in /usr/local?

2016-06-19 Thread Elrond
Package: prosody
Version: 0.9.10-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Prosody has a bunch of extra modules/plugins, that might be
added by the admin. I think, they should be placed in
/usr/local and not in /usr/lib.

So could you add the following to the default
prosody.cfg.lua?

-- Also search for plugins/modules here:
plugin_paths = { "/usr/local/lib/prosody/modules" }

You might also want to create that path?

While you're at it, could you please remove the example.com
section from the main prosody.cfg.lua? It was moved into
the conf.avail/example* file anyway. We don't need the
example stuff two times, really.

Cheers

Bug#827634: [patch] Detect window width every time :Man is called

2016-06-19 Thread James McCoy
Currently, man.vim lets $MANWIDTH, if it is empty, to the width of
the window at that time. If :Man is later called in a different sized
window, the results will look wrong.

The attached patch lets $MANWIDTH to an empty value after running man,
if it was empty to start with. This restores the state of $MANWIDTH, so
the width will be updated the next time :Man is used.

Actually, it seems to use the width of your window at the time that the
script is sourced.

Yes, it should use the width of the window at the time the command is
run.
