Bug#814056: android-tools-fastboot: fastboot fails to detect Intel device (Asus ZenPad S 8 Z580CA)
Package: android-tools-fastboot Version: 4.2.2+git20130529-5.1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, The version of 'fastboot' provided within this Debian package fails to detect a tablet powered by an Intel Z3560 Atom SoC. Having enabled 'Developer mode' and 'USB debugging' on the device, 'lsusb' shows it correctly and 'adb' also operates without problems. In particular, it can reboot it into 'bootloader mode' via: # adb reboot bootloader but after the device has rebooted into DroidBoot, 'lsusb' continues to see it; but # fastboot devices returns nothing. Please consider the relevant discussion i.e. here: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/102897/fastboot-devices-returns-nothing or: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096 This does not appear to be a permissions issue. Upon recompiling the 'fastboot' binary as discussed here: https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/android-applications-on-intel-architecture/topic/494961 (scroll down to T K. post, Wed, 11/12/2014 - 17:27), the confirmed working solution across a variety of Intel devices (http://forum.xda-developers.com/dell-venue/general/linux-tethered-cwm-recovery-version-t2963104) appears to be a recompiled 'fastboot' binary, as provided i.e. by XDA senior developer Vampirefo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2472806). Bug#802774: makedepf90: Security warning; preliminary patch provided.
Package: makedepf90 Version: 2.8.8-1 Followup-For: Bug #802774 Dear Maintainer, The program 'makedepf90' contains possibilities for buffer overflow bugs, through unsanitized runtime arguments' list. In particular, as the passed-on compiler flags' list etc. become longer, the 'rule' (-r) replacement function can easily exceed the hard-coded default from: global.h:#define RULE_LENGTH 256 and presently results in stack corruption from main.c. The attached patch suggests to: 1) validate the 'rule' argument length while parsing, failing gracefully if too big; 2) increase the default value to a less easily exceeded maximum. There may be need for further corrections, in order to improve the safety of the code. Bug#449039: xserver-xorg: X slows down and finally crash with too many remote clients
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.3+3 Severity: normal I'm experiencing sudden crashes of X when I have too many ( let's say ten or so) different instances of an X client (Wolfram's Mathematica 6.0 for linux) running on different computers and redirected on my machine through ssh tunneling. Bug#448400: man-db: Add support for I/O idle operation to lower system load
Package: man-db Version: 2.5.0-3 Severity: wishlist The attached patch suggests how to introduce I/O idle scheduling, by tuning the CFQ scheduler (available since kernel 2.6.13) through the ionice utility provided by the util-linux package (schedutils in Ubuntu). Bug#448403: kphone: Command line options help
Package: kphone Version: 1:4.2-6 Severity: normal Hi, I've found out that kphone can work pretty well with kaddressbook Phone Script-Hook option. It requires starting the program with the -d number option; this and the other available ones are not documented though. Hence I'm attaching a minor patch, ready for drop-in inside debian/patches/, that include a terse description upon invocation with -h. It's my first attempt at working like this with Debian packages buildsystem, and I'd appreciate any feedback. Bug#388382: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins: wrong lame encoding option results in static-like files copying audio CD via konqueror
Package: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins Version: 4:3.5.4-1 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss The default command line configuration, or any modification of it accessible through kcontrol interface, will spawn lame with the -x option. This results in mp3 files containing almost white noise like sounds, at least on this powerpc arch, with lame version 3.96.1. Omitting this switch, the very same operation succeds. The option however is not accessible to the user. Suggested patch: Omit the -x switch Longer term solution: Make the final command line accessible to the user, at least as an editable entry in ~/.kde/share/config/kcmaudiocd_encoder_lame_rc. Something like kaudiocreatorrc commandLine option would be much more flexible. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17.11 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages kdemultimedia-kio-plugins depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.4-3 core libraries and binaries for al ii libartsc01.5.4-1 aRts sound system C support librar ii libasound2 1.0.12-1ALSA library ii libc62.3.6.ds1-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcdparanoia0 3a9.8-14Shared libraries for cdparanoia ii libflac7 1.1.2-5 Free Lossless Audio Codec - runtim ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-13 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.12.3-2The GLib library of C routines ii libkcddb14:3.5.4-1 CDDB library for KDE ii libogg0 1.1.3-2 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-13The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtag1c2a 1.4-4 TagLib Audio Meta-Data Library ii libvorbis0a 1.1.2-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc21.1.2-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.1.2-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi kdemultimedia-kio-plugins recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
