Bug#390685: xscreensaver: Workaround presented
Package: xscreensaver Version: 5.03-2 Followup-For: Bug #390685 Hi there, I've found a workaround that I believe may be of help when trying to resolve the bug. If, after the mouse hangs (and the pointer just disappears from screen) you're able to restart a screensaver, the pointer just reappears, fully functional. Ex: After the mouse hangs, I execute the command `xscreensaver-demo` (from KDE's pop-up execute command, ALT+F2), then open a preview window (ALT+P from the screensaver preferences window), and then my mouse starts working again. Maybe this will help to fix the issue, or maybe help other users to have a manual workaround. Anyway, thanks for the best screensaver package on GNU/Linux! Bug#431605: korganizer: Many events without hours associated in a single day disappear
Package: korganizer Version: 4:3.5.7-4 Followup-For: Bug #431605 Hey there, It's been quite a while since I first reported this bug. Anyway, it keeps happening despite my periodical updates. Upon further examination of the issue, I've seen the only events disappearing are the ones that share the same day with many other. For example: having 10 events crowded in the same day will eventualy erase them all automatically. Note these events never have associated hours. Other events, with or without associated hours, that are in other days, are not affected. I'm posting at the end of the email an illustrative collection of fragments of the events that disappeared from my std.ics You may note that all/many of these events have the same category, and that it's name has a non-standard character ('á'). Maybe it has something to do with the bug, maybe not. I thank all again for the great software and great work, but this is a serious issue with permanent data loss! Please take this into consideration when reading my report. Bug#436256: pdfjam: Giant dependency set
Package: pdfjam Version: 1.20-2 Severity: wishlist Hi there, I've used pdfjam several times to merge pdf files - it's a very nice program. But the sheer size of it's dependencies is huge: - texlive-fonts-recommended sums up to 178MB - tetex-extra sums to 662MB! (the same with texlive-latex-recommended!) It ends up that a simple command-line pdf utility can take almost 200MB HD space, up to more than 600MB in the worst case scenario. This is not a bug per se - I fully understand that TeX is the backbone of the application - but I suggest a dependecies' review. Are all packages in the meta-packages dependences really needed, isn't it possible to narrow them down? Thanks for the time! Bug#431605: korganizer: events disappear
Package: korganizer Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6 Severity: critical Justification: causes serious data loss Hey there. I've been an enormous fan of korganizer - it really helped me get things organized and made. Compliments made, let me add that I rely a lot on it daily for personal and professional use. That's why I've been so surprised and sad to see that my events kept disappearing for no reason at all, even using a Debian testing version (which shouldn't be unstable). I haven't looked too much on the problem, but I do suspect the version I'm using now erases events created on older versions which are still present in the .ics file. I'll be sending one of my backup .ics files as soon I can - every time I open it, it shows all events, but on the first save, they're gone again (which is a real problem when auto-save is on). Copying and pasting those events dosen't seem to help, but creating a brand new event and then copying+pasting the information across the old and new event do seem to work. Thanks! I hope this is a local problem, but I guess it deserved a bug report, as it causes serious data loss! -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages korganizer depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-8 core libraries and binaries for al ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio2 1.8-4 The Network Audio System (NAS). Bug#431453: Should add symbolic link /usr/bin/unrar-/usr/bin/unrar-free ?
Package: unrar-free Version: 1:0.0.1+cvs20070515-1 Severity: wishlist Most applications that use unrar check for the file '$PATH/unrar'. Installing the 'unrar-free' package has been mostly useless to me, but now that I've created a symlink named '$PATH/unrar' pointing to the '/usr/bin/unrar-free' executable, all rar-dependent apps seem to work normally. My suggestion is to create this link during the Debian packages's installation. Is it possible? Would be even better if it checked not to overwrite any pre-existent /usr/bin/unrar file! Bug#431379: kdevelop: Simple KDE Application doesn't compile
Package: kdevelop Version: 4:3.4.0-3 Severity: normal Hi there, I've been reading a Qt Designer and KDevelop 3.0 for Beginners [ http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDE3/Qt_Designer_and_KDevelop_3.0_for_Beginners ]. It instructed me to follow some simple steps: - Get KDevelop 3 (Which I did by using apt-get) - Create a framework with KDevelop (Using the menu item 'C++ - KDE - Simple KDE Application') - Ensure that everything is fine, using 'Build - Run automake friends' then 'Build - Run configure'. I've had a problem with this last part. 'Build - Run automake friends' works well, but 'Build - Run configure' tells me my C++ preprocessor has an error. Check KDevelop output below - below it there's also the resulting config.log, with more details. I guess this must be an incompatibility between KDevelop and CPP versions. So I guess this makes it a Debian-testing problem, not one from KDE, KDevelop and/or CPP. Anyway, I believe KDevelop's package's 'depends' and/or 'suggests' should be fixed - after all, something is preventing me (and probably other Debian testing users) from learning KDE development ; ) One more thing: After having this problem, I've just 'apt-get update' KDevelop and CPP to the versions I'm using now. This haven't changed a thing in the outputs. I'd be happy to help more, if I could. Below are the outputs.
