Bug#602781: RFP: flightcrew -- ePub book format validator
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: flightcrew Version : 0.7.0 Upstream Author : Strahinja Marković * URL : http://code.google.com/p/flightcrew/ * License : LGPL v3 Programming Lang: C++ Description : ePub book format validator ePub is a free and open file format for electronic books. It is one of the popular formats, supported by many hardware and software ebook readers and editors. FlightCrew is a tool to validate ePub files. It aims to check for errors more comprehensively than the long-existing epubcheck tool and to produce better error messages. FlightCrew is already useful and is being actively developed. Bug#469065: chntpw is now free, move it to main
Package: chntpw Version: 0.99.3-1 The Debian package chntpw is currently in non-free. However, the upstream indicates that it is now licensed under the GPL and LGPL http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/binsrc.html. Thus it should be moved to main (possibly after synchronizing with the latest upstream version). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#428102: Peter Gutmann's paper licensing info missing
Package: secure-delete Version: 3.1-3 (Resubmitting due to a buggy mail client). The secure-delete package contains a file 'usenix6-gutmann.doc' which is the text of a paper by Peter Gutmann entitled 'Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory'. (Despite the .doc extension, it is a text file). The debian/copyright file for that package does not include the copyright and licensing information for Gutmann's paper. The paper also lacks any explicit copyright or license statement, neither in the packaged version nor in the copy on the author's website at http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/secure_del.html. Therefore, the paper is non-free. Actually, we don't even have the permission to redistribute it. A similar issue occured with older versions of the wipe package. The upstream used to include a copy of the same Gutmann's work, and Debian maintainer removed it from the .orig.tar.gz file for the lack of licensing information. There are two ways to resolve this bug: 1. To obtain a permission from Peter Gutmann to redistribute his paper under a DFSG-compliant license. 2. To cease redistribution of the paper and remove it from the .orig.tar.gz file. Bug#314221: jumpnbump: networking docs outdated
Package: jumpnbump Version: 1.50-2 Severity: important The man page jumpnbump(6) and the files in /usr/share/doc (README, README.Network) describe the command-line option -net which seems to no longer work (it didn't work for me). The game's web site says that it's part of the old networking code that uses UDP. The options -server and -connect which did work for me (they are part of the new TCP networking code according to the site) are not mentioned in the documentation. They are only listed in the brief help that can be obtained using the -h option. The working status of the -port option is also unclear. It is thus likely that a user who doesn't dig things up wouldn't be able to play via network, which is a substantial loss of functionality for this game. Hence the severity `important'. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-nka15 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages jumpnbump depends on: ii imagemagick 6:6.0.6.2-2.4Image manipulation programs ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libsdl-mixer1.2 1.2.6-1 mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl-net1.2 1.2.5-3 network library for Simple DirectM ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.7+1.2.8cvs20041007-5 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii python 2.3.5-2 An interactive high-level object-o ii python-glade2 2.6.2-1 GTK+ bindings: Glade support ii python-gtk2 2.6.2-1 Python bindings for the GTK+ widge -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#311160: gcc-4.0: can't coexist cleanly with an earlier version of gcc (libgcc1 upgrade required)
Package: gcc-4.0 Version: 4.0.0-8 Severity: normal Tags: experimental gcc-4.0 from experimental depends on libgcc1 (= 1:4.0.0-8). Thus installing gcc-4.0 requires upgrading libgcc1 to the 4.0 version. This can potentially break earlier versions of gcc that are installed on the same machine (e.g., gcc-3.3 or gcc-3.4), since they also make use of libgcc1. Is it possible to make a separate version of the libgcc1 package and library for each version of gcc? -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-nka14 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
