Bug#699879: [Pkg-fglrx-devel] Bug#699879: fglrx-driver: Xorg doesn't start after aticonfig --px-igpu
Still present in 1:13.11~betav1-1 The problem happens because update-alternatives removes fglrx_drv.so from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ I've fixed it for myself by adding "ln -sf /usr/lib/fglrx/fglrx_drv.so /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers" after "update-alternatives --set glx /usr/lib/mesa-diverted" in switchlibGL and switchlibglx I think update-alternatives shouldn't touch fglrx_drv.so, it isn't used unless it's explicitly specified in xorg.conf -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#699879: fglrx-driver: Xorg doesn't start after aticonfig --px-igpu
Package: fglrx-driver Version: 1:12-6+point-3 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I have laptop with hybrid graphics. I installed fglrx and runned aticonfig --initial. Xorg started on discrete GPU without problems. But I want to use integrated GPU most of time, so I runned aticonfig --px-igpu. After that, Xorg doesn't start. It seems that it happens because switchlibGL and switchlibglx scripts remove symlink to fglrx_drv.so from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers. Fglrx driver loads only when xorg is configured to do so, so I don't see any reasons to remove it. If I create symlink, xorg successfully starts on integrated gpu too. -- Package-specific info: Full fglrx package list: ii fglrx-atieventsd 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 external events daemon for the non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver ii fglrx-control1:12-6+point-3 amd64 control panel for the non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver ii fglrx-driver 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver ii fglrx-glx-ia32 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 please switch to multiarch libgl1-fglrx-glx:i386 ii fglrx-modules-dkms 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 dkms module source for the non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver ii glx-alternative-fglrx0.2.2 amd64 allows the selection of FGLRX as GLX provider ii libfglrx:amd64 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver (runtime libraries) ii libfglrx-amdxvba1:amd64 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 AMD XvBA (X-Video Bitstream Acceleration) runtime libraries ii libgl1-fglrx-glx:amd64 1:12-6+point-3 amd64 proprietary libGL for the non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Whistler XT [AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series] DRM and fglrx Informations from dmesg: No AGP bridge found No AGP bridge found Linux agpgart interface v0.103 fglrx: module license 'Proprietary.
