Bug#839697: libc6: libresolv cannot resolve hosts with malformed "attempts"
Package: libc6 Version: 2.24-3 Severity: normal Tags: upstream While reconfiguring the /etc/resolv.conf, the integer parameter for "attempts" was removed. I'm not sure if I'd call this a bug in the documentation or in the library itself. It seems that what happens is that when the file contains something like "attmepts:" (note the missing parameter), the libresolv returns after zero attempts. $ cat /etc/resolv.conf # Generated by NetworkManager nameserver 192.168.200.1 nameserver fe80::a263:91ff:fe71:e007%wlp3s0 $ dig +short -t A www.yahoo.com fd-fp3.wg1.b.yahoo.com. 98.139.180.149 98.139.183.24 $ telnet -4 www.yahoo.com 80 Trying 98.139.180.149... Based on the documentation from "man 5 resolv.conf", this is unexpected behavior. The documentation states that the default is 2, while it is silently capped at 5. It makes no mention about what the absence of a parameter might do. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.7.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages libc6 depends on: ii libgcc1 1:6.1.1-11 libc6 recommends no packages. Bug#699307: network-manager-vpnc should mention network-manager-vpnc-gnome
Package: network-manager-vpnc Version: 0.9.4.0-1 Severity: wishlist I was trying to setup a Cisco VPN to use with my workplace, and I found that clicking to add a VPN through the GUI resulted in nothing being displayed. There was no error message or additional information. Upon installing network-manager-vpnc-gnome, clicking the Add button enabled the set of windows to add the VPN setup to my network-manager options. I didn't see any mention of this package in the documentation for the network-manager-vpnc package. I also did not see it in the package description. Bug#563759: gnome-keyboard-properties: visual notification of accessibility features using systray
Package: gnome-control-center Version: 1:2.28.1-1 Severity: wishlist It would be nice if the "blue man in the systray" would blink or change colors if one of the accessibility options becomes enabled. I'd think by changing colors you could show which options have been enabled using different colors. The slowkeys had become accidentally enabled, and I thought that the keyboard had stopped responding and something was very wrong with my session. I didn't realize that they were enabled because I had closed the notification that was asking me if I wanted to enable the slowkeys. I thought by closing the window, it was like saying I didn't want the slowkeys enabled, but this was wrong (perhaps a different bug should be filed on that?). Visual notification of the option being enabled would have told me that I had turned the option on. You can get it to work by using --replacement-chars="_", but the man page doesn't say to do this. However, the --unusable-chars works as --unstable-chars " " or --unusable-chars=" " In the second, the program will not save my preferences. If I put the --save earlier in the command, then it does work. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages jack depends on: ii cdda2wav 4:2.01+01a01-4 Creates WAV files from audio CDs ii cdparanoia3a9.8-11 An audio extraction tool for sampl ii flac 1.1.1-5Free Lossless Audio Codec - comman ii python2.3.5-3An interactive high-level object-o ii python-cddb 1.4-4 Python interface to CD-IDs and Fre ii python-eyed3 0.6.8-1Python module for id3-tags manipul ii python-pyvorbis 1.3-1 A Python interface to the Ogg Vorb ii vorbis-tools 1.0.1-1.4 Several Ogg Vorbis Tools jack recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#310607: samba: Samba 3.0.14a(specifically nmbd) crashes on start and randomly
Package: samba Version: 3.0.14a-1 Severity: important Samba is unusable with my configuration because nmbd crashes randomly and when the system is booted. It seems most crashes happen on Sundays, but not always. I do not think this should be an RC bug because apparently having samba authenticate against an NT4 PDC is an uncommon configuration. >From /var/log/samba/log.nmbd: [2005/05/24 10:24:36, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:main(668) Netbios nameserver version 3.0.14a-Debian started. Bug#307571: gnomebaker: Gnomebaker fails to start
Package: gnomebaker Version: 0.3-3 Severity: important When I attempt to start gnomebaker it crashes. This could be related to #302906, but mine doesn't freeze.
